Definitely a must do if you enjoy one day hikes. It’s about 10km long, with a waterfall, ladders and steep climbing here and there. The trail was quite empty when we went, we didn't meet any hikers that day. Not sure if it maybe gets busier at certain times.

Wathaba Hiking Trail is an amazing hiking trail I have done. The waterfalls, the sound of water makes it so enjoyable you don't even realise the elevations and difficulty in navigating some climbs. The views from the top of the mountains are scenic and breath taking. I loved the experience. 😊 The water was cold, since we went end of Aug'22(oh ya, its a late postπŸ™ƒ). We arrived on a Friday as a group and quickly chose our bunker beds, started the fire and settled. The boys figured out the geyser system which was awesome. The water was so hot and nice the entire weekend. The most amazing part was seating outside around the fire for 2 nights and listening to stories being told by fellow hikers. The experience was amazing, tranquil and awesome.

Wathaba is a hikers paradise. The trails are clearly marked and well maintained with interesting notices along the way. The different routes take you to waterfalls, alongside the river, to a picture perfect fairy land and up to the escarpment with spectacular views. All the trails require walking fitness for the uphills and even the decent can be a challenge. The bathrooms and bedrooms meet all the needs of hiking overnight accommodation. The kitchen is spacious with a gas stove, undercover braai, washbasin with warm water and plenty working space. There is no electricity, but you hardly notice it's absence. If you visit Wathaba you'll wish you could stay.

Absolutely beautiful hiking trail. Did the 10km in 5hours with plenty of stops to admire the scenery and have a snack at the waterfall. Winding in and out of the forest and river scenry into a dry woody space into a beautiful open field. Mountain rocks to pass by and a view of the valley that will take your breath away.

Great hike! You will definitely need a hiking stick and good hiking boots! Multiple waterfalls slightly hectic when going uphill. Lots of shade no need to worry about sun! Trail is well marked. Must bring own picnic 🧺 items . A 4x4 is a recommendation when accessing the farm. I love it love it love it 😍

Absolutely gorgeous landscape and scenery…a lush and beautiful campground to explore, get in touch with nature. Meditate and recuperate, it’s so peaceful, all you hear are the sounds of tranquil waterfall and animals. The accommodation is decent for a camping site, clean and fresh. It’s a self catering accommodation, they also allow day visit. You can come hike, have a Braai or picnic and enjoy the scenery. There are two trails the 10km hike which is between moderate and difficult. The 4km hike is easy to moderate. There is a small shop on a he site opened on Saturday between 2-4pm you can buy your hats, cups and tracking sticks. There are animals on the site, monkeys, donkeys and cattle. The entrance route to the camp site provides beautiful views and glimpse of the trails. It’s work the visit, it’s located in entokozweni Mpumalanga and it’s very affordable.

Exceptional views, well marked hiking route. Had the pleasure of hiking Lynx Loop this weekend, would advise hikers to take walking sticks, quite a bit of climb and down hill. Views are worth the next day achy legs! Bring your swimsuit - beautiful cascade at the 7KM mark.

We stayed in BlouBos retreat. House was simple and practical. The donkey geyser is a feature you don’t see as often anymore, but works well! The hikes were pristine! Would recommend visiting Wathaba!

A tough 10km hike, but totally worth it. Perfect for those training for Die Otter or Visrivier. Amazing waterfalls, huge variety of trees and plants, we were lucky enough to even spot a pair of Knysna Loeries. The route is well marked and laod out with some added poles and beams for support to make the walk safe and comfortable. A fun touch is the added little name plates that can be found around every corner eg 'Miep's view' 'Fritz' ladder' and 'Bets' rock garden'. The trail doesn't have a boring moment, and every 400 meters have something new to offer. Once you've passed the 8km line, it's an easy decline back to base. R90 p/p for the day, but there are accommodation available ranging from R250-R390. There's a 5km trail and a 2-day teail available.

We booked for the 2 day Bloutrein Hiking Trail. What a great weekend away. Well marked and maintened trails, superb overnight accommodation. By far the prettiest trail has to be the second day back from Pongola Express to Blou Bos Retreat, you spend most of the hike in hidden crevices in the hills. Absolutely worth the challenge.

Beautiful scenery, safe trails, very clean too. It can get very slippery on wet days you need to be cautious. The trail/route is marked throughout so you can’t easily get lost. This one is great with a group of friends or family to stop along the way and enjoy the beaut in front of you. It was amazing, worth repeating. Oh how can I forget the beautiful waterfalls so don’t forget your swim swear, the fall is along the hiking trail, you can easily take some time to swim and relax before the last 3 kilometres

Very well maintained hiking venue. If you like the outdoors and hiking consider this place as your next hiking destination. You can realy get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and camp comfortably with all the luxuries a hiker needs. The limited connectivity and power makes you forget about the outside world. You can focus on the place and the people around you. What an experience to sit around a camp fire again making jokes an playing games.

I did really enjoy the hike. I did 14 kilometers and all trails are beautiful. It’s the 10 kilometers trail that had surprises for me. I didn’t expect the hike to go to the top of the mountain but I found myself at the top and when I thought we are going back to the bottom and back to the car park little did I know that we are heading to the Cascade Waterfall.

I wish I could give 100 stars! Wathaba always delivers without fail. It was my second time there but it felt like I have not been there at all. I like everything from the Basecamp cleanliness to the trails and their markings. The scenery is completely out of this world.
