Imagine Queens England. No, not THE Queen. QUEEN! An England where food has flavour, where passions run deep, and where décor challenges decorum… with Freddy Mercury's swagger and a smile. Oak View Manor is all that and a packet of crisps. Vivacious wallpaper – dripping with her majesty’s likeness, pop-cult and masterpieces in print – sets the mood for a guest-house experience that is anything but ordinary. It’s LUSH. Rarely can you use a single word to describe the furniture, the experience, and the personalities of the warm-hearted hosts, Dina, Gavin, and Werna, who welcome guests into their house with a familiarity usually reserved for your closest friends. By now you might have guessed, we had a fantastic time. And I dare say, as guest house experiences go, Oak View Manor is… by far… the best I have ever seen… anywhere on the planet… period. Our stay in the Pink Room was a treat. Get lost in the details. Order a cocktail from the bar. Stretch out on the lawn and stare into the expanse of a hundred-year-old oak tree. If you need a break-away from the Gauteng rush, a place to stay for that destination wedding, or a fabulous Sunday lunch (reservations essential), Oak View Manor is the spot you have been yearning for.

Definitely one of the most unique places to visit for the day or stay for the night. The decor is fit for its time but has a modern edge and it has a beautiful garden. The house is from 1917 and is a heritage site to visit. The accommodation is a bed and breakfast but the house serves wonderful food for the day too. I went there for a function and there was the most attentive service and wonderful food as the hosts are welcoming. Please go visit this treasure hidden away so well. You won't be disappointed... they are also planning on opening a dance studio and vintage store in the future to keep an eye out for.

Honestly, this place deserve 10 stars. From the friendly reception to the absolutely beautiful rooms, this place is exquisite. I don't even have words to say when it comes to the sophisticated meals that is prepared by Werna, this lady knows just exactly what she is doing, and she does it beyond expectations!!! Thank you Dina for your kindness and your thorough understanding of what it takes to make a 10 out of 10 guest house! Thank you for your love and generosity, we will always make Oak View Manor our weekly one stop!

Thank you for your hospitality! Despite a last minute booking, we were enroute to Durban and decided at the last minute to stay over in Heidelberg. We received a warm welcome, and were handed delicious sandwiches for the road as we hit the road early the next morning. Total tranquility! Beautiful setup. Safe parking. Spacious, well maintained and clean rooms, all tastefully decorated. Home away from home. Definitely recommend!

I stumbled on this gem on the weekend. We booked for a beautiful set up High tea. When I dream of an Oak tree in my garden you will find it in Oak View Manor’s Garden. The decor was sublime, and the eats set up was delicious. We had top service and everyone enjoyed the morning. Great Venue for small parties and weddings.

Me and my wife stayed at Oak Vie Manor and absolutely loved it! It's only a 30min drive from the airport. The place is stunning with posh Windsor like design. Perfect for a short stay or a wedding. Excellent breakfast!

Family ownership with a friendly atmosphere. Quality home cooked food, comfortable beds, reasonably priced at R700 midweek, and R800 weekends per person per night.

Had an unforgettable break-away at Oak View Manor. This establishment takes you right back to the 20's with Jazzy tunes in the bar, as eccentric hostess Dina keeps the G&Ts coming. Followed by an amazing three course meal, prepared by Chef Werna, our stay was simply exquisite!!

Highly recommend!! Visiting Oak View manor is a truly unique and magical experience that transports you back to the 1920s. Taking in the beauty of the historical building is incredible in itself, but it keeps getting better. The interior decor is a blend of antique and kitsch that comes together so exquisitely, photos don't do it justice. Each room is different and equally fascinating. The host is so welcoming, and her warmth makes you feel comfortable and at home. To top it all off, the food is unbelievable. A definite must-see when in the Heidelberg area, if you're a foodie, if you want a unique dining experience, or an awesome venue to hire.

I seem to stay at the Oakview Manor whenever I’m in South Africa. And there’s very good reason for it! From the moment you walk in and are greeted by Dina or Werner, you feel at home. Their warmth and hospitality is exceptional. Nothing is ever too much to ask and they will always go out of their way to help, have a chat or do anything for you they possibly can. I’ve stayed in the red room and the blue room before and they’re equally as amazing. Fabulous art on the walls, perfectly appointed furnishings and brand new bathrooms. The beds and pillows are a dream to sleep on. I always joke that I’m going to take them away with me. Wifi is excellent and I’ve never had a problem - making it easy for me to work from the Manor either in my room (there’s always a table to work at), outside under the massive tree outside the bar or even at one of the tables in the tea room. You could easily spend a day or more just walking through the manor looking at all the fascinating antiques and collectables that are dotted around the rooms. If you ask Dina, she’ll be more than happy to give you a tour and tell you the story behind many of them. The food is exceptional! It’s like what your mum used to make, if she was a whizz in the kitchen, and also if she did it for a living. They use imaginative flavour combinations that your taste buds will love you for trying. Wherever it’s a traditional fry up breakfast (my fave) or some of their French toast, you should try it all. I cannot give this establishment enough praise and I will be going back to stay there again in a month. You don’t want to miss this one!

Absolutely stunning setting in the heart of Heidelberg! Dina is a wonderfully attentive host and made sure are our needs were met for the duration of our meal. Sipping our G&T’s under the giant oak tree was other worldly! Beautifully lush decorated Cape Dutch Manor which gave the feeling of being transported to a different time altogether. It truly is a fest for your eyes. The food was to die for and of a very high standard. I can definitely highly recommend this gem!

Absolutely wonderful from start to finish, the rooms and decor are superb with great attention to detail. The most delicious food - the breakfast was first class - but best of all was the warmth, hospitality and care given by Dina and her team. This place is an absolute gem and close proximity to JHB makes it a perfect and easy weekend getaway spot to just unwind and explore local coffee and antique shops. A superb old property with loads of character. I would strongly recommend in a heart beat!

Dina and Gavin went beyond to cater for my fairwell party and the food was unbelievable. Only had glowing comments from friends and family raving about how unique the venue was and how great the food was. My partner and I along with a few friends decided to stay over in one of the 5 available rooms which is a great idea if you are planning to party hard.

What an amazing venue, with fantastic hosts and exceptional food. I can highly recommend- either for an intimate evening with friends and or family or a lunch party for all, social or corporate groups. And if you think Heidelberg seems too far the trip is well worth the travel. Once you have had your fill, believe me, 2nds are inevitable, and don't feel like driving back, stay the night. For those who love antiques, the manor is filled with pieces that truly date back to the yesteryear and lends itself to an atmosphere of peace and relaxation.
