😠 We were there for a 3 night stay Lin and Brian couldn’t recall we had booked and paid in full. Lin then wanted to accommodate us in a filthy room with the smelliest linen and carpet as a favour. We were left having to look for new accommodation we still waiting on our full refund. Brian wants us to... We had the pleasure of staying at the De Molen Farm on a road trip around South Africa in December 2019. We were greeted by the very welcoming host and her two dogs who showed us our cosy room. We really enjoyed the space of the room and the comfortable bedding. In the morning, we decided to go take a walk around the beautiful scenic farm and we were joined by both of the owners friendly dogs. We walked up to the cave and came across their group of beautiful Nguni cows and spent some time overlooking the Claren's mountains in such a relaxed atmosphere. On our way out we said goodbye to our host who was always friendly and welcoming, and she suggested that we speak with her husband about the area around their farm and what to do. We left and we were met by our hosts husband outside. We spent a good deal of time talking to him and he was very knowledgable and friendly and gave us a good few pointers of what to do in the area. Strongly recommend staying a few nights here!

We were there for a 3 night stay Lin and Brian couldn’t recall we had booked and paid in full. Lin then wanted to accommodate us in a filthy room with the smelliest linen and carpet as a favour. We were left having to look for new accommodation we still waiting on our full refund. Brian wants us to go to court. What you see on the pictures is completely inaccurate. It is filthy. We will be going against them for our refund, we did not cancel, our room that we booked was allocated to other people. We won’t accept 50% refund. We were left destitute and traumatised by their accommodation. Brian an experienced litigator could not even admit his wife was wrong in not even recalling our booked dates. Their dogs were even worse. Oh I forget the part we’re my partner had to help Brian carry a bed ( he doesn’t work there) they couldn’t even recal when last the place was cleaned. Filthy filthy filthy. No human being must stay there.

Love the place but it's a private farm, not a museum

De Molen farm provides a unique experience apart from other home stays. A vast open land is open to the visitors to explore. The stay will give a different experience if you visit during winter or a tropical climate. Safe for family. The tenants are cooperative. 3 stays are available and you can choose it as per your head count. Non covered parking facility available. Have a small problem with the flies as the sheep shed and horse stable is nearby. Management have arranged anti insect precautions inside the stay. But sometime it will be a bit difficult with the flies (only inside the main room). Rooms are clean.

Had an amazing weekend with awesome hosts! Brian and Lin are super friendly and go the extra mile to make your stay unforgettable. Their farm is so beautiful the only problem was that we could only stay for 2 nights. Can’t recommend this place more!

Catch and release Fly fishing in the Little Caledon. Lovely and friendly owners hosting fly fishing on their farm. Don't expect the 3-5 Kg trout as in the Ash River, but a great experience catching smaller trout up to 450mm. I have recommended a business product supplier who is also a professional fly fisherman and he caught over 42 trout on a 15 degree and windy day.

Having just spent 4 nights there we were disappointed There was a huge crack in the one wall that was stuffed with plastic bags and it was reported in a post over a year ago The place is expensive for what you get and there’s lots of better places in the area with more luxury There is no way of cooking when the load shedding was on up to 10 hours a day The fishing was very poor and in my over 30 years experience the stream was very small and would not support the fish shown in the pictures on the farm Some of the pictures are not even of the same place showing a large river and concrete bridge The dam wall has collapsed and the dam is empty The smell from the animal yards is quite unpleasant even in winter time.

We came here for a weekend away, and had such an amazing time. The owners were so friendly and helpful. They are also extremely knowledgable about the local area, and can point visitors to great lookout points off the beaten path, as well as memorable experiences to partake in. I would definitely visit them again, and urge anyone looking for a great visit to do so.

Tranquil and scenic, fantastic catch and release fly fishing in the river, and beautiful nature walks. The hike up to the cave is worth it for the views! Our accommodation in the Old Milk Shed was superb. We've enjoyed fantastic breaks at De Molen over the last few years, made extra special by Brian & Lin's warm hospitality, and knowledge about the area. The dogs are simply great and make the walks even more memorable. Look forward to returning!

Lovely rustic farm with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and stream nearby. We went as a family group of 8 adults + 1 baby and had everything we needed to be comfortable, sociable and warm in our self catering cottages.

Neat with extremely friendly hosts. Relaxing atmosphere away from the city. The arty town of Clarens is just 7 kilometers away. Will definitely visit again.

Very comfortable, superb views, well marked trails. The kitchen lacked certain utensils. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We left some belongings behind and I was phoned promptly and advised that the items would be kept safe until I could collect.

Loved our stay at De Molen Farm in November. The hosts are really friendly and took time to explain the area and were very welcoming. Their two dogs are great too and came with us on a walk up to the cave, near their Nguni cattle.

What an awesome farm guesthouse to visit. Wonderful hosts. Very comfortable, well appointed accommodation. Three lovely dogs that love going for walks down to the river and dam for a swim with anyone going through the gate as well as showing off their sheep hearding skills. Fishing in the river or dam, catch and release. Hikes up the the sandstone caves across the valley. Pride the rescue horse loves apples, and enjoy being ridden by a good horseman. Another highlight is walking with the Nguni cattle, a wonderful experience.

This was one of the best experiences we had for a boys fishing trip. They were very knowledgeable of the area and provided us with great information for hiking. Brian and Lin are very accommodating people. It’s a beautiful farm experience with great amazing views. Highly recommend.

De Molen is the most stunning place one can visit in Clarens. It is a working farm, with the most breathtaking views. We love doing the walking routes right up to the cave; as well as the waterfall and picnic spot. Lin and Brian are most gracious and have become dear friends. We try to visit Clarens at least 3 times per year and have stayed in almost all the accommodation on De Molen. Hoping to return soon!

👍 Beautiful small dam at the edge of the city worth a visit. Quit place to hangout, you can try fishing too. Swimming is prohibited. The way to dam is a 200 meter walk after you park your vehicle. The trail becomes slippery in rain so wear shoes accordingly. There is no shade near dam, so pack an umbr...
