I Recently gave this place 1 star... Largely because I was angry and did not understand what they did here. I can definitely recommend this place after spending two weeks getting therapy. Larry and his team are amazing and I have managed to come to understand many things about myself that were just not so obvious. I am grateful for the opportunity and thank you Oatlands. I am empowered to make changes in my life to make sure I live the best life possible....

Overpriced scam for the most part. Some of the psychologists are great but a few are out to take advantage of vulnerable people in terms of hiking up bills. Same with psychiatrists. Facilities are clean but cramped. Not much security, anyone can float in or out during visiting hours, even into private wards. Quality of food wavers. Gym and upstairs area is dismal. Could do with more garden area / plants. Overall not recommended, not helpful.

Attended Oatlands for 3 weeks of care. A really good experience for me. The group therapy was intense but so worth it. The Care Centre was clean, the food was superb, the care given of the highest standard. The therapists work hand in hand with each other so that when you leave you are capacitated to manage your life better and make better choices. So thank you Oatlands Care Centre.

Only been as a visitor but from my experience it is a wonderful facility. Staff are amazing & so friendly. Very well equipped, but definitely could do with a garden or resident pet.

A place for people to heal. The program is intense though so don't make the mistake of thinking it isn't hard work, as in mentally. It's not a holiday. It's a useful space to learn about yourself and others who have similar experiences. I would recommend it for everyone who feels out of place in the world. You learn the sort of things our schools life orientation subject should be teaching our youth.

My husband was counting down the days till I got "kicked out" of Oatlands. It's been a few months since I'm back home and only remembered this now. Which got me thinking, previous institutions banned me from their facilities whenever I displayed "bad" behavior, whereas the staff at Oatlands always pointed out my behavior and asked me how I think it could change, and more importantly, IF I AS AN INDIVIDUAL, FEEL LIKE I NEED TO CHANGE MY BEHAVIOUR AND WHY. Dr Olla, Larry, and Marissa were the perfect fit for me. I was always able to be myself, which in turn allowed me to be vulnerable. Alistair was also great fun for me, as he was my light in my dark days. The rest of the staff, including nurses and reception staff were all kind, warm, and loving.....qualities that held great reverence in my healing. I am an iconoclast so im aware that im a handful some of the time. But for me, being around these people for over 28 days awakened something in me that I will be ever so grateful for. Amongst many other things, I learned how to forgive and I learned that I was loved the best way my family knew how. The job of a Psychologist is a REAL JOB and an incredibly difficult one, and I hope that you all grow from strength to strength, one day at a time. Lots of love :)

Excellent psychiatric care and the food is awesome. Very practical lectures by some of the best psychologists in SA and personal care for each patient. 2 patients per ward. Catering staff just won a best catering unit award from Capitol Catering. Staff nurses have a great sense of humour.
