Very nice atmosphere and mid to upscale restaurant. Generous portions with tasty food. Several dishes I haven’t seen in other Indian restaurants and a large variety of choices. Can’t say about prices but they seem about right for a downtown restaurant. Service could have been a tad faster but they were also dealing with a large group of Aussies. Good mix of desi and non desi customers. The restaurant is underground but entrance is well marked. Google maps takes you around the corner so just be aware you will have to go back around to the Main Street. Definitely would recommend. Visiting from the US and very pleased by the food quality. Better than most US Indian restaurants.

I picked the Grand Palace on a whim for a catch-up dinner with my friend on Saturday night. We were both so impressed by the food and staff! The servings were generous and the waitresses were attentive and friendly. They made great suggestions for the food and advised us to order takeaway early before peak bookings started arriving which was appreciated. The decor and atmosphere were spot on. Fancy but not stifling. We're determined to come back to try the $40 dessert platter and would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Halal food. Thank you for making it an enjoyable night. It was really beyond our expectations!

I really enjoyed the food and the venue. The staff were pleasant and helpful, the food was delicious and the wait time minimum. The decor is amazing. Chips and nuggets available for those fussy eaters. Highly recommend.

Positives about this place: 1. Internal Ambiance is good 2. Ordered Vegetarian feast. Taste is really good. Quantity was sufficient for 2 adults and 2 kids 3. Friendly staff Negatives about this place: 1. Lighting to enter restaurant is poor. 2. Open status light of restaurant is off. We could not find exact entry in. 3. Tables are congested. Food could not fit on table 5. Ordered Vegetarian Biryani got Vegetable Rice. Taste for that cost is horrible. A bowl filled with vegetables (seems frozen) and rice. Too many vegetables that half of bowl is filled with them

I had such an amazing time here for dinner! I don’t typically try much Indian food, but the staff were so accomodating and recommended me the most delicious dishes. Conveniently located next to Wynyard Station, so it’s a great place to go after work. The butter chicken + cheese and garlic naan bread combo was sooo amazing, I’ll definitely be back to have more!!! I heavily recommend here for any Indian-food lovers or people that just love trying new things!

Delicious authentic Indian food and fantastic hospitality! Highlights included the garlic and cheese naan bread, the maharaja chat (entree) and the curries! Definitely one of the best restaurants I've ate at this year

We are basically vegetarian people. So we have to find restaurants which provide several options for vegetarian food. We were not disappointed. Portion size is good. One bowl of Bhindi navratan was enough for two persons. Rates reasonable, keeping in mind its prime area location.

My goodness, this indian restaurant by far is one of the best if not the best Indian restaurant I've been too. The samosas were so fresh. The butter chicken was creamy and full of flavour, it was just perfect, couldn't fault it. I had beef Saag, the meat was so tender, you could cut it with a spoon. Finally the cheese and garlic naan, cheese lovers would be in heaven. Definitely worth every cent. Lastly, the staff were so lovely and helpful.

Firstly, let's talk about the Naan bread - it's as soft as a pillow and the cheese is perfectly balanced, although it could have spread out a bit more to the edges. Regardless, it's still a treat for your taste buds! As for the butter chicken, it's definitely above average and has a great meat-to-sauce ratio. You won't be disappointed! But it's not just the food that's great - the ambience is also fantastic. You'll feel like you've been transported straight to India with the restaurant's themed decor. The whole experience is just lovely. Overall, if you're in the mood for some amazing Indian food with a great atmosphere, then The Grand Palace Indian Restaurant is definitely worth checking out!

Interior decorations, presentation and table plates and cutlery were beautiful! We got the set three course menus which came with a gigantic amount of food. Highlights were lamb chop from the entree, the curries and naan which was so soft. The rice pudding dessert was quite nice, the gulab jamun was very very sweet. The drinks service was very slow, maybe they were understaffed. Unfortunately the $18 coconut rainbow spritzer was NOT good - it was flat with no spritz at all, basically tasted like coconut water with whole pieces of fruit in it. Got the watermelon fizzy to make up for the disappointment though. But that aside, we were also gifted extra sweet treats that were leftover from Diwali.

Located very close to Wynyard station. An Indian restaurant with a wide range of menu options including vegetarian and non vegetarian items. Excellent interior ambience. The staff are friendly. Non vegetarian platters available for large groups. Food quantity is good. Quality is mostly ok. Separate drink menu available. Prices are above average. The awadhi chicken biryani is recommended. Overall a decent food experience.

Lunch time service on a Monday was fairly quite. Those that were there were mainly from the Indian subcontinent which is usually a good sign. The layout is good with much traditional carving. The food is delicious and quantities generous. There is a descent wine list but we opted for their Lassi.

Best Indian Restaurants in City.. especially the heart of city (Circular Quay, Wynard, Townhall). The restaurant is real india gems. The test and atmosphere is A class. The service is best and quick. We visited this place with friends. The ambience is really best here. This restaurant is at basement but the way they design and structure it feels amazing. We have order harabara Chiken as starter. And sagh chiken , chicken chatnadad, and chiken tikka and chana masala as curry. Also order some mocktale. The quantity in dishes is slightly less. But the test is amazing. Also, service is amazingly quick. The roti/bread were fresh, hot. I will say the chef is best. The staff is quick and smart, and ambience is best. Must visit place if you are hungry and near to circular quay, wynard or townhall as it is just walking distance from these place. Pros : Test is USP for restaurant. The ambience is amazing. The service is quick and smart. Cons: Expensive Quantity is less in starter and curry. Require table booking.

Food was amazing 🤤(hats off to the chef). We ordered Amritsari fish, Tandoori prawn, Malai Kofta, fish goan curry, lachha paranthas, cheese naan and cheese garlic naan. Everything was made to perfection. But they really need to polish their customer service skills. The waiter made our experience 👎🏽 We might come back but only for take away. Happy to chat over phone in case you need more details of our experience regarding the waiter.

The Grand Palace hotel in Sydney offers a delightful experience. The chicken chettinad is a flavorful and aromatic dish, packed with spices that tantalize the taste buds. The chicken curry is equally impressive, with tender meat and a rich, well-balanced gravy. The ambience of the hotel is elegant and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere for dining. From the delectable cuisine to the charming surroundings, the Grand Palace hotel is a fantastic choice for those seeking a memorable culinary experience in Sydney.

I recently visited this restaurant with reservations, having tried numerous Indian eateries with similar adjustments for the Aussie palate. To my delight, this place exceeded my expectations! The dishes were reminiscent of the authentic flavors from my home country, India. Finally, a spot that doesn't compromise on spiciness for sweetness. This has quickly become my favorite restaurant! Highly recommended! 🌶🇮🇳👌

Yesterday, I had dinner at this restaurant where I ordered a set menu priced at $112. Unfortunately, I found the overall dining experience to be quite disappointing. The starters provided were below average in quality, and this trend continued with the main course, specifically the nan and curries. None of the curries had any distinct flavors; they were bland and tasteless. I couldn't even bring myself to eat the Rogan Josh as the mutton pieces were unappetizing. While I don't mind paying a premium price for a meal, I expect a certain level of taste and quality in return. The only redeeming aspect of the dinner was the gulab jamun, which was enjoyable. However, it wasn't enough to salvage the overall experience. I feel compelled to address the owners and the chef directly: it is crucial to add salt and spice to your dishes in order to enhance their flavors. Without these basic elements, it becomes difficult to justify labelling the cuisine as Indian. Based on my underwhelming experience, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

We tried several cocktails, and they all were delicious. I have to say the Mojito was the Besttt Mojito I have ever tried! My other favourites were the bless on the beach (cocktail) and Harabhara kebab. The bar tender was really friendly and he was very knowledgeable about the drinks - suggested us with the perfect drink based on our taste 😁. I would highly recommend trying this place if you love indian food and like a bit of Rajasthani vibes in restaurant.

The Amritsari kulcha and the chana masala were great. One must try the biryani, since it was also excellent. The bhindi and paneer were also good. Slightly oily food. There is a washroom as well. The place is situated in a very good location, however is in the basement. So one has to walk down a few steps, which might be difficult for aged and people with special abilities.
