When departing, don't believe the screens in the security line that say 15m waiting time. There's a famous quote that time flies when you are having fun, and here the 15 minutes actually takes 90 minutes. You can calculate how much fun that means... Also there are no separate lines for premium classes or top tier frequent fliers, so don't count on that to get to your flight on time. Although I made it to the gate on time, a lot of passengers didn't, and the flight was delayed two hours waiting for them to finish the security queuing & screening. So don't stress too much in the line, as your plane may wait for you (the airlines are suffering as much as you) On the plus side, the arrivals experience is pretty good. Streamlined machines for passport checking, and friendly quarantine folks welcoming you (and your bags) on your way out of baggage claim and into the country.

I love airports! For the most part they’re similar with the same setup and formula. Sydney airport is a nice Australian airport that looks like you’re in a shopping mall at times. But then again most airports do have that atmosphere. I’m not too fond of the distance though needed to get to the domestic terminal from the international. Otherwise a nice airport! 😎👍

Absolutely overwhelmed with people taking the Easter holidays. Surely this is easily predicted and planned for appropriate number of staff but there were only 7 security gates opened out of 17. The place is very poorly managed. Most of the air-cond vents are very dirty. It's a joke to see 15 mins waiting time on the screen while we have been waiting in line for an hour.

The airport staff service is spot on and great. Very Very fast efficient counter check-in, also the airport staff& security is very cooperative in clearance. While waiting for flights ✈️ beautiful lounge stay is available at the airport. Free wifi, charging stand & also good hospitality service. Always reached earlier than time because there will be heavy traffic on the road . Good airport

(Translated by Google) the airport is well structured with a train line that crosses all of Sydney, the QANTAS airline in the service of the plane as its control area in check in, revision, luggage, staff, the best in the world. I would fly with them again (Original) bien estructurado el aeropuerto con una línea de tren que cruza todo Sidney, la aerolínea QANTAS en el servicio del avión como su área de control en check in, revision, equipaje, personal, la mejor del mundo. volvería a volar con ellos

But then again most airports do have that atmosphere. I’m not too fond of the distance though needed to get to the domestic terminal from the international. Otherwise a nice airport! Very good experience with security and customs. Smooth and quick getting through scanners and auto visa customs. Shopping experience is much better after customs. Took a while to get through ticketing area as each operator doesn't open the check-ins until 3 hours prior departure. Some great bars and shopping near the gates. Toilets very clean.

Well organised airport. Just make sure you reach here atleas 3 hours before your international flight and and an hour before your domestic flight as there can be traffic jam on the way. Always keep buffer time on hand for unavoidable delays.

Very good airport. Clean and modern look. Has a variety of duty free products and a number of restaurants to dine in. Staff were very friendly throughout the check out process. Bus shuttles are located right outside the airport.

Lovely airport! So glad to be back after 4 years since 2019 (and covid) The airport is really busy at like 7am (Australians do wake up early HAHA) but yea people are friendly and the shops are all opening already early in the morning . Well impressed!

The major airport in Sydney is quite organized and efficient. For international arrival, with a chip passport for some countries. You may complete the customs questionnaire on the machine to undergo a faster process and not need to line up to be interviewed by the officer. However, more machine may need to be operational since it may be slower while most of them are broken when I was coming to the country.

It's always great returning to Sydney Airport after an international trip. Easy to exit through the place as an Australian citizen. T-bus runs from the domestic airport to the international every 10-15 minutes. Many memories departing and arriving here.

I was heading to the Domestic Terminal to the International Terminal to head to America. I had McDonalds there for lunch and it was really surprising how that the kitchen is on another level from the counter. Food is hanged and then gets collected by the worker. It’s like an elevator there. The airport looks like it is modern as well. Perfect! Images are the aircraft I flew with at Sydney.

covid really left the airport empty...i had no problems with social distancing here. Very clean and the main McDonalds is still open but smaller one is closed, most shopping is closed but they do open closer to scheduled flights

This lounge has so much more potential then it currently offers. Drink wise the choices are excellent with a wide variety of barista made coffees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Food choices leave a lot to be desired with very limited options available. Breakfast food was still on offer till around 1pm and then lunch options came out which were not appropriate for the sized plates offered. The lounge is small and can't handle the amount of people using it. More comfortable seating options need to be available as well. Showers and more then two toilets would go a far way as well. A few changes will go a long way to make this an excellent lounge!!

I travel through Sydney Airport a lot and have seen it change over the years, but for me it does not rank highly compared to similar sized airports around the world and certainly not as the main airport for a world city. The first thing is getting there. The underground train connection to the city was a long time coming, but it also came with a hefty price which is currently over $14 a single trip. Traffic at the upper level departure ramp is tedious, you often crawl along from the bottle neck that forms as three lanes merge to one to go up the ramp. The departure terminal on busy days is just simply a seething mess of people and very limited seating near the check in counters. The departure area prior to clearing security is just drab and old, with a small food area that is always full. They were refurbishing the departure security screening access late 2019 and it appeared to look fresh but still led to the maze of ribbon lane channels. Security is relatively quick and I like going through the full body scanner as it reduces need to remove belt etc. Inside and past security the departure area is more modern but still not bog enough for a city like Sydney and seating again can be at a premium and it just feels cramped. The food court does have a nice range and has good views out the glass to the apron. Very pricey duty free though! Arriving for me has always been easy, no need to walk far and the process to get a self service ticket for the Smart Gates is straight-forward and easy to exit straight to the carousel and out. The arrivals area again is very small once you have cleared customs and always congested. Need better instructions for the Smart Gate self serve kiosks, as many new arrivals and even Australian citizens have no idea how to use them or what they are for. I am looking forward to Badgerys Creek airport opening as Sydney's second in 2026 and hope Mascot or Sydney Airport gets a massive makeover of its International Terminal. Unfortunately not an airport I can recommend.

Fast WiFi. Friendly customer service. It's a pity that you cannot take a photo of any plane. You have to check-in firstly and then when you cross a gate, you are able to see "flying machines". I leave the area too quickly after arriving and now I cannot go back to make a photo.

Better than average Aussie airport. Love the landing view and the tidy architecture around the CBD. Ample spaces for resting and very nice washrooms with regular servicing. Multiple dining options and retail stores. Lovely vibe throughout.

Good system and reliable flight information but please make the directions more intuitive, arrows on signs are not very convincing due to poor architecture, sometimes it just looks like your going to a cafe or something, other passengers asking other passengers due to confusion. Gate 55/53/57 are a bit hot and not well air conditioned. Fair transit all in all. And yeah the face art exhibit was creepy

Lack off staffs, no clear signs for the way out from domestic terminal to international terminal, I understand covid situation, it would change into less staffs or no shuttle bus, but there wasn't any clear instructions, felt very lost, not very helpful. Unreasonable airport taxi charge. But there is two thing I wana mentioned, airport/ security staff named Josef, this gentleman helped me out when I was in this hard situation, I appreciate it so much! Thank you for your kindness and help! And heaps of sanitizer around ?

The inside of the airport has good ease of access with shopping and food options well placed within the hub. Very tricky to find the rental car return. Poor signage for directions, also very confusing. I did 4 laps before I could find it, almost missed my flight.

Clean, organized and efficient, no problems at all navigating through the airport. Everything runs like clockwork. There's tons of stores for shopping. The duty free stores are full of all sorts of Aussie treats. If you have access to the Air New Zealand lounge, definitely go there. Overall, amazing airport.

The baggage claim area was very chaotic. The screen list, the claim desks, and the sign didn’t give the same information. We had to run from 15, 14, and 13 to retrieve our baggages. The most impressive part is Uber pickup. Very good and clear signs 👍

Nice modern airport with latest technologies. Getting through immigration was a breeze as all you need to do is scan your passport and let the machines do the rest. But do make sure you are not carrying any food or restricted goods as the check at customs is very strict.

  • 4/5 Phil L. 9 months ago on Google
Someone said it takes ages to get through the Sydney airport. I can understand that. You have to put your passport in the "kiosk" and get a little blue ticket. Then you have to take that ticket down to the gate and put it in and get your photo taken before you are allowed entry. That all sounds very simple and straightforward, but the instructions on how to do it, and where, are not very clear. For example there's about six kiosks back along the track a bit which nobody uses because no one knows they are there. Anyway, now you have to go and find your bags and there is a small TV screen right up high, which tells you which carousel your bags are on. You then have to go through customs, which if you haven't got anything to declare is very simple and straightforward. Even if you have got something to declare, it's very simple and straightforward. If you want to go to the domestic terminal, I suggest you stay in the international terminal until the last minute (well, 2 1/2 hours), because once you get to the domestic terminal, there is nothing to do nor see. When you check in, there are heaps of shops, food stores, coffee shops etc. Very nice food.

  • 5/5 Uday W. 11 months ago on Google
Nice shopping area. Airlines may be short on staffing, so the gates may not have anyone to clarify doubts. Gate number for a scheduled flight may change in the last hour so keep watching. The display may say Relax but very often passengers will get tense. Status updates will show up eventually. Take it easy. There is also some confusion about gate numbers, like exit gate 10 has an entry gate numbered 10 (from inside) close by.

Excellent airport, signage is very clearly indicated, and workers are very earnest in assisting you in your journey. Conveniently located south of Sydney. I would write a 9000 word essay encapsulating Sydney Airport, for only that would do justice, but I think that writing it up would fly over my brain.

Sydney airport is probably the best airport i have ever i have been to. The service is fast, the workers are kind, and they shut late at night so planes don't fly over and wake people up. It is a great place and the concierge lounges are also the best in the world. So next time you are coming to Australia, remember that you want to come to Sydney because it has the best airport and is the best state.

Lots of facilities for waiting for airplanes and there is even cheap Sushi and Macdonalds but most of the other shops are quite expensive and I do NOT recommended buying from them. Its quite slow checking in,last time I went international it took an hour. But apart from that the rest of the security is pretty quick. Everyone says be there 3 hours before your flight but I recommended at least 2 hours because otherwise you will end up waiting years and years sitting at the airport doing nothing for 2 hours.

Had to drop my daughter off at domestic terminal 2...found parking went in with her... Checked in helpful staff not many people around... Walked to waiting area... Passed people who had just arrived.. Few people sneezing and coughing... How did they get on the plane do they have the virus.... They just walked out no one stopped them to check them... Off go the germs.... The place stunk of chemicals I could taste it gross... Got back to the car took 15 mins to get out of parking lot round and round we go no exits stopped someone to get directions.... Finally got out... Wow what an experience..
