Highly recommend! I was a total beginner but our friendly instructors guide me very well all the time, every member in the class is supper supportive, too. Love Muay Thai sessions which have flexible options to train with pads or advanced techniques/sparring focused. If you are not sure, there is an option to book trial on the website. (TRY IT!).

These guys are friendly and great teachers. I started up Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu with them and never felt like I wasn't good enough to be there. I was even the only girl at the Jiu Jitsu class and always got treated with respect and kindness. These guys know what they're doing! And the people who train there are also welcoming. 100% would recommend training here

Best and friendliest martial arts gym around! Great place for fighters from all levels. Jordan is an amazing coach and is always trying to improve on your technical skills. Definitely would recommend for anyone looking for a new gym or give their 1 day free trial a go if you are unsure.

I have been training jiu jitsu at Open Sparring for a good few months now, after a training in the UK for just under a year and a half, but having not trained consistently since September 2019. It's a great environment, every instructor runs a good class with a lot of different styles taught. All the members are very welcoming and having tried out a few gyms in Sydney, I am extremely happy I settled on Open Sparring ! Cheers guys ✋👊 Oss! 🤙

*convenient location - CHECK *extensive timetable options - CHECK *well priced - CHECK *pictures with natural smiles - CHECK Jordan & Michael have brought together an amazing team of coaches with unique styles. All of whom are an absolute joy to learn from. Walking into Open Sparring 18months ago was one of the best decisions I ever made! Thinking I'd manage maybe 2-4 sessions a week (HA!) within weeks I was attending 1 session a day and in months I was doing double sessions on some days. That training high was the best start to my day and after a full day at work a class at open sparring was just what the doctor ordered. My favourite element of Open Sparring is the culture. Friendly and welcoming is an under statement! There is always someone greeting you with a smile, be it a coach or a fellow student. There is something special about a gym that is happy to spar together and then head out for a meal together!

No matter your skill level or what you want to achieve out of training, there is so much to gain from joining Open Sparring. At training we are paired with similar skill levels so we get to learn and practice a lot. In MT classes generally we get a sweaty workout/training session with Jordan and improve our techniques with Jamie. The classes are always well-balanced with other skill areas. Plus Open Sparring isn't just a gym, it is a community and all are welcome!

Easily the best (and friendliest!) Muay Thai and BJJ gym I’ve experienced. Owners Jordan and Michael are 100% committed to helping you learn and improve your skills - plus, the collegial, tight-knit community they’ve created make classes the best part of every day! As a female fighter, it’s rare to find an MMA gym with such a strong contingent of talented and supportive women and men. Many have become good friends - we even did gym trivia through the long Sydney lockdown! Plus, the chance to pressure-test the drills you learn is invaluable; I’ve progressed further in 2 years at Open Sparring than I have across 5 gyms in the past decade. I really can’t recommend Open Sparring enough! Give it a go - it’s a welcoming environment for beginners (I’ve introduced a few friends this way) and competitive enough for those training for a fight.

Fantastic place for both beginners and more experienced people to learn together and become part of a tight community of non-ego driven fighters! Jordan(head coach) is perceptive and will guide you every step of the way during and after each class with no hesitation to help you improve- and that's the general gist of the gym, a caring community that's there for you no matter the issue at hand.

Professional coaches, pocket friendly pricing, a warm and friendly community and an overall great location if you reside within the CBD area. This gym offers great quality services, with unlimited classes. If you’re a person who is into both striking and grappling like me, I’ll personally recommend you to drop a visit and experience the fun and enjoyable training sessions that this gym offers. The coaches are professional, supportive, observant and are willing to put their students first before themselves to help them to reach their potential.

What a fantastic club, I’ve trained in many countries, but I’ve never come across anything like Open Sparing, they have a culture that exceeds all others and the discipline to deliver results. All the couches have an eye for detail and take the time in every class to ensure your technique is improving. At Open Sparring, you are encouraged to spare to the level of your opponent, you can be assured there are no unruly hits coming your way. This is what makes Open Sparing different from other clubs. The couches are passionate about encouraging you to do better. They personally take an interest in helping you to achieve your goal, while encouraging you to be better and this is what stands out. After 12 years in the sport, I got schooled in a different way of approaching my technique, which, said a lot for the coaches. My thanks go out to the highly talented couches and, not least, the awesome club members that make all this possible, it’s like a family. You guys rock! I’ll miss you all and my daily sessions and can’t wait to return someday.

Dropped in for a trial class for BJJ today and it was an excellent experience. Really great location, very central. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. Hope Douglass taught the class and it was very technical, she's a great teacher. The students were really technical as well, and I really enjoyed the grapples. The mat and facilities are really, really nice too. I highly recommend the BJJ classes here.

Amazing place to train. I jumped into a trial for BJJ in February 2022 with no knowledge or experience of grappling and I immediately loved it and the environment, and knew I would be doing it for a long time. I also found out about Open Sparring through Google reviews the day before I started and it definitely lives up to the reviews.

I dropped in for a trial at Open Sparring last Friday the 8th for the lunch time class. Paul (a pretty serious guy) took the class and we worked different turtle escapes and hand fighting techniques and then a few rolls after. Vibe and the people were great and welcoming. The gym has showers and nice changing rooms too. I will be back to join the club to train jiu jitsu very soon. Oss Tom

Great place to train BJJ. I came in as a total beginner to Jiu Jitsu and found a bunch of people who are there to learn, work hard, but not take themselves too seriously. Shout outs to all the coaches who've taught me loads and put up with the million questions I've asked over the past 9 months. Highly recommended

The gym is, as what they say, beginner friendly. Hygiene was highly emphasized with the sanitizers and rules getting off the mat. The coach , Calvin was also very approachable, same goes to the rest of the team. Highly recommended for everyone.

Highly recommended for bjj and striking. Knowledgeable trainers with a diverse skillset. Welcoming staff and trainers, clean space and mats. Showers for post session, great daytime session times for training during lunch breaks.

Great gym, great training and great people! I've tried several gyms in the Sydney area and Open Sparring is no doubt my favourite. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone, no matter their level of experience (even no experience at all) - training at Open Sparring is great for people who are looking to start something new and also for experienced people who enjoy sparring and competing. Most importantly, it is great fun!

I trained at Open Sparring for around 5 months and it has been a great experience! The coaches Jordan and Jamie were both very professional and their teaching methods were suitable for all levels. During sparring everyone was respectable and accommodating to each other's needs and skill levels. I would recommend this gym for anyone interested in learning a new skill! I can't wait to return to Sydney and train with these guys again.

Best place to train at city . Loved the lunch time bjj classes . Very open and welcoming environment. Paul is an amazing teacher and has elevated my gi game for sure .. unfortunately I need to leave due to change in my job circumstances but would definitely join back if I am in the city!! Highly Recommended !!

The coach Jordan is very detailed in the technical aspects of the training. Each round was kept interesting. The pads can do a bit of refreshing though. A little too worn out even for the beginners.

Have been training at OS for 2 months now and it’s by far one of the best places to really level up. Coaches focus on the detail and mechanics of each technique and as someone who’s been training for a while the feedback they give has been invaluable.

Great place to learn how to fight and to mix it with a bunch of very friendly people. I've been training for 5 months now and feel a major change when it comes to my fitness and my skills. A high energy class that will leave you bursting with endorphines and wanting to come back for more!

Been training at OS for the last 3 years and have nothing but great things to say. The facilities and classes are really top notch. Its always been a really friendly and supportive place to go too, especially as someone who was starting out in martial arts with no experience at all. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking about getting in to MA.

I trained nogi at Open Sparring for a few months and my experience was excellent. Jordan, Michael and Jamie are really friendly and solid coaches with different skill sets. The vibe was also super chill and the guys in the morning and afternoon classes were solid as well. I would definitely go back if I was in the city more often. Highly recommended to check this place out!

Open sparring has a fun and highly flexible culture, supporting beginners to enjoy picking up fundamentals, and pushing advanced martial artists and fighters to their peak performance. You'll find that while they will meet you where you are at, they consistently push a fast pace, supporting you to cement your learning and making your technique instinctive. I highly recommend this gym for beginners and athletes alike.
