Great food and great service that's severely undermined by the wait times. The food here is very unique in its flavours, the dishes are modern and the ingredients are fresh. They were able to accommodate for Halal requirements with both the set menu and the non-alcoholic pairing. The food tasted great but felt their portions were a little on the smaller side and left feeling satisfied but not full. Their non-alcoholic pairing although nice, were very pricey and underperformed for the price. Credit where credit is due though, it did pair well. The staff were incredibly social and super friendly. It was also a pleasure to meet the chef momentarily before our food arrive and at the end of our meal. I just had to knock down a star over their wait times, I'm not sure if this is intentional or not but between each course was a 30 to 40 minute wait. I'm not saying the food should be rushed but for a plate that had 2 or 3 bites and was slowly eaten in at most 5 minutes, such a wait was excessive. After spending 2 hours to get all our mains, we had asked our waiter if the desserts could be sent out now as we had other engagements. They were very nice and had brought out the dessert quickly and a nice little gift to take home.

Lino Sauro, Olio, Kensigton, Sydney It is always great to catch up with chefs that one has known for many years! Lino, who headed Gattopardo in Singapore, has always been one of my favourite Italian Chefs, of Sicilian Background one knows immediately his affinity to great seafood, although I always loved his Pasta Dishes! So we made it a point to have our only Dinner (during this trip) at a Restaurant at Olio, Kensington! Itโ€™s such a lovely place, and although it rained (a rarity during our trip) it gave this evening a somehow romantic feel! Sharing a bottle of 2018, Satien, Franciarcota, the evening started truly on a Hi! After the ubiquitous Amuse Bouche, Oyster with caviar. We were treated to a wonderful Tuna Tartar in a super light pastry shell! Yummy As we did sharing the first course consisted of a King Fish Carpaccio with amazing Olive Oil and Pomegranate, as well as a superb Beef Carpaccio which was superbly delightful! What impressed us was the use of earthenware, as it gave us a real classical Italian feel & experience! Next we enjoyed some Pasta, myself the excellent Truffle laced version while the boss had a wonderful squid ink celebration, very light, very flavourful , very gratifying! As my lady was starting to fill up by now, we did the Swordfish with Broccolini as a share as well, perfectly cooked and seasoned, loved the nutty brown butter! The main was a most perfectly cooked beef, flavourful and tender, a great sauce and some Topinambur, or as it is also known Jerusalem Artichoke! A perfect ending to a great meal, excellent service and most professional hospitality! Thank you Lino & Team! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป #gourmettravel #australianadventure #foodiesdream #sydney #sydneyfoodies #olio #oliosydney #linosauro

Average dinning experience. Set does not include dessert. For entrรฉe, scallops are stinky, not recommended. The ink pasta is also lack of flavor. Therefore, personally I think they are not worthy for $75. The chocolate mousse is okay and presented nicely. The cocktail is surprisingly good. Light is too dim at least at my table. For suggestions, maybe could light a candle.

Lino and his incredible team always provide above and beyond, brilliant service with the most incredible dishes and Sicilian wines. Chef Lino is SO passionate, and is always so welcoming to his customers no matter how busy the restaurant is. We are always well looked after and love every second of our time dining at Olio - thank you!

We went on Wednesday for early New Year celebration. The staffs were helpful, friendly and attentive. They knew about the dishes therefore could give some insight for us to choose. We had 2 courses for $75. Other options would be 3 courses $98, degustation $115 and vegetarian for $90. For us, two courses made us very full. You can choose two from antipasti, pasta and main menu. We had different variety of pasta and antipasti to share, and a main each. We had complimentary bread to start with and also complimentary ganache tart later. The olive oil was quite strong but good quality oil. Nice. And tart was light and very nice. From the dishes we had, my fav would be the GNOCCHETTI, looked like a tiny version of gnocchi. Al dente, smooth seafood sauce and tasty. I didnโ€™t expect that๐Ÿ˜ Other dishes were a bit salty for my liking. Maybe Sicilian food a bit salty cuz Italian food usually creamy and rich? Regardless, we enjoyed the dining as service was excellent. Iโ€™d give 5 stars for service and staffโ€™s knowledge. Huge selection of Italian/Sicilian wines. Nice wine. We had a bottle of Sicilian white wine, good way for dining. As for food Iโ€™d say between 3.5 - 4 stars. Overall 4 stars - enjoyable and affordable fine dine compared to other restaurants.

Loved this place so much we came back and booked our wedding here! Service was so friendly and inviting. We got some amazing help choosing wines that would work best with our dishes. All of the food came out quickly even though there was a party being hosted on the terrace. Every dish was amazing, but the absolute standouts were the Casaracce Pasta with mussels (cooked perfectly), the Calamari with chickpea entree, and the best Tiramisu we've ever had. All four of us agreed these are three of the best dishes we've had in our LIVES. I still dream about the pasta from Olio now. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

came for the 59$ 3 course lunch special ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ โŒ staff awareness could be improved - it was quite hard to get the attention of the waiters & manager to order/request for more water/olive oil ๐Ÿซ  โŒ not an express lunch option - the 3 courses took around 1.5hrs (a while) to be served, not a dining experience for people that have to get back to work standouts were the โญ Ricciola (kingfish) ๐ŸŸ with sweet chilli and lemon ๐Ÿ‹ - pleasantly surprised โญ Agnello (lamb) with pumpkin puree ๐ŸŽƒ - not gamey at all both proteins were thoughtfully paired with a sweet based sauce ๐Ÿ‘ other food items were unimpressive โŒ the passionfruit ice-cream was a poor combination with the creme caramel ๐Ÿฎ

Worst food in Sydney. The atmosphere doesn't even make up for it because of how boring the restaurant looks. 30 minute wait for every dish from the moment you order. We were there for nearly 2 hours with nothing to look at but our phones bored out of our minds. If youre looking for a place to just start arguments with your significant other then this is the place to go to. Me and my girlfriend were arguing between every meal because of how long the wait was. She naturally was defending the place because she picked the restaurant but I was tearing through her horrible taste in restaurants and she ended up crying twice. Besides that the food was disgusting and we were both hesitating the finish it but thankfully the portion sizes were Soo small that it only took us two bites each to finish every dish. The price was for the dishes was not with it especially with how boring the restaurant looks. I swear the KFC in George Street has better atmosphere than this dull boring scam of a restaurant. Shout out to the Instagram reel that scammed my girlfriend. Just go to the KFC in George Street, at least the food tastes like food there.

Loved this place. Its clear that they put a lot of care into the food. Everything was delicious! Their set menus were great value considering the quality. Our waiter was very friendly and the staff were very nice and accommodating about our dietary requirements. The menu is quite seafood heavy but that's to be expected with Italian food. Even for someone like me who can't have wheat and doesn't eat seafood I was able to find plenty of delicious things to eat.

What an incredible experience! Location - an easy walk down a lively street to a trendy venue with lovely seating options either indoors or on the terrace. I sat indoors by the window Service - 10/10. The team were amazing! The service alone could make anyone return. Such great hospitality and they even went above and beyond to surprise the birthday girl with a special dessert. Dishes also came out at a good pace considering how busy they were. Food - WOW! I enjoyed the polipo, tonnarelli, and wagyu. Every dish was so tasty plus cooked and seasoned to perfection. Before I finished my meal I was already planning the next trip to Olio. Thatโ€™s how impressed I was. Highly recommend!

A gastronomic Sicilian experience! The food and wine pairing was well thought of. The chef (Lino Sauro) was around and has been really nice. Special shoutout to Maria as well for walking me through the degustation menu ๐Ÿ˜Š Grazie!

Wonderful experience, the food was delicious! Our favourite was the Squid ink pasta, Swordfish and the focaccia is to die for! It was our anniversary and they surprised us with a delicious chocolate mousse which was a lovely touch to the evening. Thank you Olio!

We were able to walk in without a booking, came across this restaurant exploring spice alley. Food was really nice, reminded me of Sicily. We were too full and had to take away our main. Shame we couldnโ€™t fit the mini choc mascarpones they served us with the bill.

Celebrated my birthday yesterday and had an awesome service. The ambiance is perfect for any celebration. We arrived early dinner service and was assisted pretty good and even when they were getting busy, they continuesly asked if we needed anything. Even Chef Lino came out and had a quick chat with us. The food was a good experience we ordered the seafood platter. Overall we really enjoyed the dessert and they even gave me a special birthday dessert and some tart to try ๐Ÿ˜. We'll definitely be back to celebrate again.

We came for lunch and the food here was amazing. The arancini was my favourite. Minus 2 stars for the waiting times. Waited 10 minutes and looking around for a staff to order and waited a very long time for the main dishes. I also had to ask the staff whether it was coming because I thought they had forgotten. Overall, the food and ambience were pleasant. Service and wait times can be improved.

Friendly staff, food is unique but not outstanding in flavours. Squid ink pasta is not bad, personal all other dishes didnโ€™t meet the expectations

The food here was amazing. The scallops and the oysters were so fresh and delicious. I was blown away by the perfectly cooked octopus and the two pasta dishes we had (ragu and squid ink). You can taste the passion in the food. Being greeted and served by Lino and the service from the staff was the icing on the cake. Absolutely recommended!
