Thames Lido located on Napier Road is a renovated and resurrected Edwardian outdoor swimming pool. The lido in Kings Meadow was derelict for years before being refurbished. I used to drive past it every week and think what if… The building itself has been refurbished extensively throughout. From the outside it looks much the same but inside … what a treat. The place is amazing. Go in through the door through and round to the left for the bar and seating for food. The pool takes centre stage with swimmers braving the cold or the sun to put a few lengths in, alternately chilling out in the hot tubs at the end. The facilities are excellent. Food on the day was a selection from the tapas menu (recommend the shredded white cabbage and the chorizo; don’t forget the flat breads). When you are inside it’s hard to imagine where you are, it literally transports you to a different place. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Relaxing with a nice vibe and energy I will definitely be going back. I recommend trying this place you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Parking is in its own private car park - you pay inside the venue the machine is located on the left on the way out. First 2 hours are free then reasonable rates.

Just amazing! The wife and myself went for the swim/massage/meal package and I could recommend it enough. The swimming facilities are super clean and maintained very well. The massage, I went for Back, neck, shoulder and facial which was quite possibly the greatest massage I have ever had. Massive thank you to Lucy who was incredible. Dinner was just the icing on the cake! 3 tapas dishes plus sour dough bread which was plenty enough for myself. Ended with a delicious coffee. Book up asap! You won't be disappointed!

Unique experience - especially for Reading! A restored women's bathing house. I did the swim and dine package as I was in town for work meetings. Lovely warm, outdoor pool swim and hot tub that I enjoyed in the rain. There is also a sauna and steam room. Beautiful smelling soap in the showers, gender neutral/private shower stalls, and hairdryers available. And very delicious food afterwards! A nice treat for yourself and would make an amazing date. As a guest, book in advance online.

Lovely facilities, staff are professional and friendly. Would recommend getting a treatment and the bundle packages are great value for money. Some bits weren't open when we went but we still had a lovely time and enjoyed every bit!

We went for the swim and dine package (2 hours swimming + dinner). The pool was gorgeous, although they could do with more sun loungers. They also had a spa and steam room. We really enjoyed their poolside dinner and they were able to offer some vegan options. The swim and dinner cost £50 per person including two courses. However with drinks, it came to £140. Be careful with the parking, it's only free up to 3 hours, we had to pay £11 for the car park as it was operated by a third party company.

Really enjoyed the ‘Swim & Breakfast’ package for a relaxing morning, it was great value. The facilities at the Lido are great, outdoor pool has enough room for plenty of people to swim with the outdoor hot tub being lovely in the cold weather. Both the sauna and steam room are finished lovely, with lots of space. Staff were very friendly and kind, offering us a tour of facilities so that we knew where to go. Would visit again.

This Lido is a complete vibe. Expensive but a vibe. We got a package deal of swimming and lunch and it was amazing. The swimming pool is a bit cold but nice to do some length, the sauna is fantastic and the steam room is great. Changing rooms are good, a bit wet but good and the service at reception are great but due to the amount of people at the restaurant the service was a bit slow with food. When the food did come omg fantastic.

Very well done and quaint Lido. It's so pretty, the staff are welcoming and there is something lovely about being outdoors in October yet having access to the facilities. Everything is picture perfect and we enjoyed a lovely 2 course meal at the restaurant as part of our package. However, you do have to pay for parking if there more than 2 hrs which seems a bit unfair when you've paid for a 2hr+ package

We did the swim-spa-tapas package. The package was great value for money. My sister and I are notoriously hard to please, we enjoy things..... with a "but". And we had no "buts" on Tuesday. When we came out of the massage, we both said how we usually always say we like a firm massage and worried with how light this one was, within minutes it was the best massage we'd ever had and we'd never felt so relaxed. I had Carolina and she was so lovely. The tapas was really filling and so nice. They show the before and after shots- and it is an amazing refurbishment We will be back again

This is a nice place for a different kind of lunch. The food is quite fancy, but the whole feel very friendly and relaxed. I was bought a swim and lunch voucher, but decided to just take the lunch. This included two courses, and we opted for main and pudding. Very limited vegetarian options and the one main didn't hit the spot for me, but my friend had the seafood dish, which she said was delicious.

Most spectacular day/afternoon out. A group of 4 of us had the most wonderfully indulgent experience - perfect for swimmers and non swimmers. The Thames Lido package was worth every penny - the venue was well staffed at the pool, treatment rooms and restaurant and each and every one of them was courteous, polite, helpful and friendly. We spent an hour between the pool, hot tub, sauna and steam then moved on to the treatment, then the food - the food was of the highest quality. Im planning a repeat visit already

This is such a delightful hideaway from the world. Wonderful pool and sauna, excellent showers and a very delicious tapas menu with generous portions. Spent a wonderful afternoon enjoying the swim/massage/meal package which was worth every penny. Will absolutely be returning - it's also really close to Reading station so easy to travel by train and walk!

I would definitely go again as people are friendly, especially in the massage room. Make sure I was comfortable and it's not super busy which I really like as I have anxiety. (along with other health issues) Also the foods was nice.

Went with a friend and we had a lovely time. Unfortunately, the pool was very cold. The steam room was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was amazing

I went with three friends on a Sunday afternoon in July and had a fab time - the restoration has been done so brilliantly! The staff were super friendly, the pool area very clean and the food was absolutely delicious, I'll definitely go back! We did the Swim & Lunch package and thought it was fantastic value. Bear in mind the changing rooms are individual with showers in, so obviously quite wet so bring flip flops. There is a 'Boudoir Room' for getting ready once you're dry (with hairdryers) which we loved. My only negatives were the the fact you have to pay £6 to park beyond the free 3 hours and that you have to pay £5 to rent a robe even when on a package deal.

Booked a swim, massage and lunch package for two. Staff were really friendly and although busy felt like we were abroad. Meal was delicious and massage was relaxing and worked some knots out of my shoulders.

We ordered a good selection of tapas dishes, all delicious and enjoyed in a very relaxed setting quite unique to Reading. We had a really lovely meal and our waiter was great although overall service was a little slow. One star was lost on the ice cream, my salted caramel tasted nice but had a lot of large ice crystals throughout.

Fab place. Loved it. My friend and I had a lovely time in the pool/hot tub and then our lunch was amazing. Can't wait to do it again. So tastefully renovated too....a pleasure to see.

We weren't sure what to expect... but what a fabulous experience! The food was excellent, we had great service, and the atmosphere was so fun! The bocarones were absolutely delicious -- a must-try.

Lovely afternoon swimming and using the steam room and sauna followed with a glass of cava with fresh flat breads and dips plus tea and cakes. Just a shame that we stayed 5 minutes over the 3 hour's free parking and had to pay £6.

We came to swim as visitors rather than to eat, through clearly eating and drinking is a big thing as there were lots of people from the bar area milling around. We loved swimming here and politely had all of the facilities pointed out to us when we arrived. There’s outdoor and indoor changing, a lovely 25m pool which is gently heated (it feels cold when you get in but soon warms up). They say it’s only gently chlorinated and it felt like it - the water was lovely. Although we didn’t go into the steam room, we went between the pool and the sauna, both of which were a pleasure to use and neither felt too busy at any point. The (deliberately) cold showers and bucket available after coming out of the sauna were screamingly cold! We had two hours so after some swimming sat next to the pool and had a coffee and a beer, which again was lovely. The whole place has a lovely vibe: friendly, welcoming and everything ‘just right’. I came out feeling as light as a feather and would certainly return - what a treat.

Popped in this afternoon for a late lunch and were delighted to be able to be squeezed in to a busy lunch service. Aldo looked after us from start to finish and was an absolutely amazing host, he made us feel welcome, was friendly and attentive and made the experience really relaxing and stress free. The food was delicious and I felt very special!
