Small restaurant, but definitely worth a visit if you like Malaysian food. My wife and I went out for dinner on the weekend and we ordered selection of food. We were impressed with bigger portion and service. Food was delicious and hot 🔥. Drawback was drinks menu and interior of the restaurant. Restaurant is quite basic looking.

Delicious and authentic family-run Malaysian restaurant. We were so pleased to discover this gem of a place in Bournemouth! There's a wide variety of dishes and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back for more to try the rest!

I loved this place! First experience of Malaysian food, and it was wonderful! Great team looking after our table, more than happy to have a chat and answer our questions about the food and ingredients. Loved to learn more about Malaysia. The food was beautifully cooked, flavours and textures were wonderful and I also liked the BYO (bring your own) alcohol approach. Good vegetarian options. Thank you Sambal Tumis for a great meal.

The food was authentic, tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was so cosy. The beef rendang was tender and flavourful, it was perfect. Roti canai was the best however the dhal and chicken curry on the side was a little watery and lacked a bit of flavour. The lasksa was great and flavourful though I do wish it was a bit hotter/spicy. The drinks (Malaysian milk tea and iced lemon tea) were refreshing and delicious too! Overall we loved it so much! It felt like home will definitely come back!

Favorite place for date night. We love this place because the food is incredible and authentically Malay (my partner is Malaysian). Good prices and quiet cozy atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and warm. Sad to be moving out of Bournemouth cause I won't be able to come in often now.

Wow! I'm so impressed. This is so far the best Malaysian food I've tried in the UK. It brings me back home❤️ The staff were so friendly. We had a nice chat. The interior is also beautifully designed. 100% recommend this place.

Incredible! So glad to have stumbled across this hidden gem. The food is delicious and the menu is very extensive... Highly recommend the roti canai as they are some of the best roti I've had, with sumptuous flakey/buttery layers. The service was great too, the staff very happy, attentive, and accommodating. No alcohol sold but you can bring your own for no fee. Will definitely be returning as I want to show my friends the wonders of delicious, home cooked style Malaysian cuisine. A special thanks to the staff for being so welcoming on New Year's Day.

What a lovely place and wonderful flavours, vegetarian and vegan options, lovely kind sweet staff and fantastic service Lovely atmosphere and a great experience the Asian desserts are less to our liking and requires adjustments but it was interesting never the less it was a lovely exposure to new flavours. On terms of parking it's not so simple and perhaps required a couple of minutes walk, only issue is that they don't accept credit card, only bank transfer and cash. Total came to £160 for 7 ppl including tip.

A wonderful, cozy and very nice restaurant. Caring and happy staff, absolutely delicious food. Takes cash and bank transfer, but not card. Highly recommend coming here. I'll certainly be back!

Excellent Malaysian restaurant! This place may look unassuming, but it's the food that shines here. We were the first customers to arrive on a Sunday evening but by the time we left, it was busy. The staff are friendly and very welcoming, and patient with me and my disabilities. They took extra care with food allergies, even after we ordered - making sure that dishes were safe to eat. The menu has a wide range of traditional dishes and drinks, the service was pretty quick, everything tasted great. Definitely recommend this place!

Food was authentic and excellent, feel like home! A must try and must go restaurant if you visit Bournemouth. Quick service. The aowner and his wife are very friendly. The cafe is kids friendly too. Most importantly, is 100% halal. Recommended drinks: Bandung and Teh Tarik. Tom Yum was good too. Would like to try Cendol and Roti Canai on our next visit.

Wonderful find whilst on our South Coast roadtrip. Cedic was waiting and Sheena was outside serving some wonderful food. No drinks licence but BYO. The mango kerabu salad was sharp , salty and sour just missing the crunch of the crushed peanuts.the chicken in pandan was moist tasty thigh chicken. Beef rending slow cooked beef chunks. Could imagine beef cheek working well in rendang. Very tasty is the aubergine brinjal soft and smokey. Roti telur as well to share, over excited wanting to try everything. No room for dessert but took a toasted coconut ice cream back. Highly recommended for authentic homecooked food

It's an amazing restaurant with amazing food!!!! My first time to try Malaysian food, and the food is absolutely stunning with cheap price and large size! Highly recommend Nasi Goreng (I ordered it with chicken) and Cendol (the traditional and most famous Malaysian dessert)!!!! You will love it!!!

Fantastic Malaysian fare. As a fellow Malaysian foodie, I was very impressed with how authentic and balanced the flavours were, and even more impressed to find that everything is painstakingly made from scratch. The dal was one of the best I've had, and the roti was delightfully flakey and chewy. There's a good selection of vegetarian dishes too. We arrived spontaneously on a busy night, so service was a little slow but still friendly and accommodating. Too bad we were too full to fit in dessert, I was excited to see cendol on the menu - my favourite. We will be back for more!

We had a great dinner at Sambal Tumis, which, to our Singaporean palates, was reflective of fairly authentic Malaysian food. We particularly enjoyed the Tauhu Goreng and Ayam Paprik, which we found to have very well-balanced flavours. The Ayam Paprik was especially nice, with delicious notes of lime, lemongrass, and fish sauce, all of which paired well with plain jasmine rice. The Char kway teow also deserves special mention - it hit the right notes with the right amounts of sweetness, saltiness, and spiciness. However, it lacked a 'wok hei' that would have elevated the dish just that bit more from merely good to one that was excellent. The two dishes that disappointed somewhat were the (1) Ayam Pandan, and (2) butter curry chicken. The Ayam Pandan was overcooked, resulting in somewhat dry and tough chicken. The butter curry chicken was bland, and was essentially a puzzling concoction that (probably?) aimed to be like the Indian 'Butter Chicken', but which fell significantly short - it was neither salty nor sweet nor robust enough. I found it to ultimately be a watery mess of a curry. I also disliked the use of chicken breast - thigh meat would have been juicier and more flavoursome. Finally, we found service good, and the food to be value for money. Portions were very decent, prices were most reasonable, and service staff were prompt and efficient. This was a 4 star meal in sum; One star docked for the disappointing butter curry chicken and ayam Pandan.

One of the best Malaysian Authentic Cuisine ever. Very polite and friendly staffs Very flavourful mouthwatering dishes. Reasonable prices and really enjoyed every bite. Don’t forget to try the coolers- Asam Lychee and guava coolers One of the best. No regrets or complains at all. Car parks available at 5-8mins distance and very spacious dining area.

The kind of establishment that leaves you feeling full and satisfied but with the hunger and longing to come back as soon as you've stepped out the door. Portion sizes are good, authentic Malaysian flavours and spices and as a bonus the dishes are well presented (as I'm not one for prioritising presentation over the fundamental flavours but some of you may appreciate it). Sambal Tumis also has lovely staff who are always happy and smiling.
