We were so looking forward to undertaking the entire walk along The Line from the Queen Elizabeth Park through to North Greenwich, but we struggled hugely with the route. There was very little signage - we couldn't find any until we had got to Cody Lock and by then we had had to retrace our steps, losing a lot of time and this distracted us from enjoying the art, nature and scenery at a leisurely pace. We downloaded the Bloomberg App prior to the walk, expecting that to do much of the work to keep us on the route, but we had to go back to the website to find a map and then we eventually found a pointer that could track us on the route, but it wasn't at all clear. Our plan was to get to North Greenwich for a meal in a riverside restaurant that we enjoyed on a previous occasion, but we were then delayed by a lengthy wait for the Emirates Cable Car across the Thames. Thankfully we hadn't booked as we would have lost our deposit! Overall, it would have been an enjoyable and interesting walk, but do make sure you are familiar with the route before you go. Is there someone who can reinstate the directional signs to take the avoidable stress out of it?

Comically terrible walk mostly through an industrial estate. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT WALKING HERE.

Visiting the North Greenwich and the O2, I made my passage along Thames and found this nice sculpture, marking the Greenwich meridian. I recommend to visit those places, when different festivities and concerts happen and also take a delicious taste of world kitchens. You can make a peaceful, even romantic stroll by the river and around the O2, enjoying the modern architecture and the undemintinticabile London skyline. Have a nice day with family, friends or alone!

Interesting sculptures with great explanatory audio from the artists in the app. The app also has some detailed talks on the history and heritage of this part of London, and guided meditations. All the audio had transcripts. We only had time to do the Southern half of the river but hope to be back.

Really disappointing experience. A majority of the walk was through industrial sites - during one part we were walking past recycling plants and a tip and didn’t feel safe. Due to a lack of signage and clear map, we spent around half an hour walking around canning town station to try to reach one of the artworks and ended up giving up on it. Would not recommend.

I expected so much more. Mostly through building sites and business parks. Underwhelming works. Only highlights: Three Mill Island and Cody Docks. Connection Star Lane-Victoria Dock not signalled and complicated (two one-stop DLR rides took 25'). The online map doesn't have navigation or a marked route. The app doesn't show your position or the one of cafés and other points of interest except the art. So you have to keep switching between the two and the pdf map to see the trail. Messy and sloppy. The trail around the O2 was more pleasant and with lots of things to do and see. Wouldn't recommend.

Brilliant view of both Canary Wharf high rise buildings, to the west , and the O2 arena, to the east. Further downstream following this footpath you get a fine view of the Thames cable car link and the Thames Barrier.

A route with several interesting sculptures accessible from a public footpath on Greenwich Peninsula. The path is part of the long distance trail - Thames Path. There is a sign showing the full route and sculptures on it. The views around that area are great too, so in general it's a nice place to go for a walk or a jog.

Inspiring collection of public art, positioned along well-kept running and cycling trail.

Im confused by the majority of these reviews. - it’s very well signposted - it’s all along rivers with one 5min walk in a business park (not all walking through industrial estates!) - the art was generally interesting but I missed a couple as I had an old version of the map so try and download the most recent version/keep your eyes peeled A very easy east London walk which was a nice sunny day option, bit if a queue at the cable car which I’d have preferred to have skipped.

The Line runs from Stratford to North Greenwich. Doing the walk, or , as Johnny Cash would have said, walking the line, is a bit strange, like being a tourist in your own country. Signage is fairly sparse and the biggest problem is deciding what is art and what's not. Sometimes a fire extinguisher is just that. There's a bit you have to do on the DLR, and you have to take the cable car ride across the river too. But there are highlights, like Three Mills and Cody Dock with its wonderful boat lifter and a coffee shop too. Some of the art is minimal (a sign pointing out how many miles you'd have to travel to get there). Some is wacky. But if you need an excuse for a walk in unfamiliar territory, this could be it
