ASI monument. Entry free. Sprawling lawn with trees and extensive span of archaeological ruins. All the staircases start from east. Some renovations observed after earthquake. Water bodies surround the area. Parking on the road.

Just wow. This is a hidden gem of a place and a dream location for photography. Actually it is supposed to be a funeral place of royal family but that was surprising info. Be there before sunset to get nice pics.

A place where the past comes alive, walking through these old structures, spending time with the past is simply amazing. The place is huge so put on your walking shoes.

Chahatedi is located in bhuj nearby hamirsar lake. This place is Smadhi sthal of royal families of kutch and also there is some temples. This place badly damaged by 2001 earthquake so this site under restoration. But still we can visit this place. No fees for entry. There is small garden so you can spend some time. This place is good if you are interested in photography and historical architecture.

    - complete name of the place is "Rao Lakkha Chatri" - most of the local people just know the place for it's old pond - It's an 18th Century monument where Rao Lakkha's 15 wives followed Sati Pratha after his death - 15 chattaris were built for them - most of them have now collapsed - this place also has some ancient temples (which are also not in use due to there conditions) - overall a nice place for history lovers

✓ This historical place is amazing and free. ✓ Good place to visit Sunrise. ✓ Closes on 6 PM. ✓ Place is clean. ✓ Written history and practical history is available. ✓ This place is little dusty, depending on crowd. ✓ No Shops are available around this place for eating/drinking, you have to go to mainroad. ✓ Loved this place.

The chattris in bhuj are constructed in 18th century AD by jadeja rulers. The structural design here is the combination of mughal and rajputana style. One of the chatris is painted in blue and the dome is highly ornamented carving. Right now some of the areas and spaces are considered as ruins but we can visit the place for its peacefull atmosphere(like cold breeze).Best for people who love architecture.

The first point is that the entry is not visible properly. It has three entry gates. One you will enjoy the most is from the Khengerji park, it's a walk of about 1/2 a km through the park on the right and the lake on the left. If u r fortunate to see the lake full, it would b a pleasing sight n trip. The second entry is near the vegetable seller about a 1/2 km away from khengerjee park. A small gate almost u will miss it at first sight . The third that Google map will take u to, is the shortest n fun killing. As u enter the premises, u can see the ruins of the past and almost everything has got devasted in the earthquake of 2001. U can't help it but the govt also not doing anything to preserve it. Hundreds of pieces, which fell apart from the historical moments r lying unattended. At least the govt can put them back n make the place beautiful again. I wish any NGO or the govt will step forward to take care of it. Take great photographs here n u will b lucky to find the place where Aishwarya Rai circled a yagna kund with Salman Khan in the movie " hum Dil de chukey sanam". Take care, I slipped and have sprain in my ankle.

This place is besides the Lake where there are many attractions what I witnessed is that it's a must visit place one need to be patient and understand what exactly happened there, that place witnessed the Sati by 15 of his queen at that place. It is not that popular among tourists but still I cherished that place.

It was ok and nothing to boast about as it was crowded with pre wedding photographers and felt more like a photo place than a historically important place. If you have time you can visit this place for 30 min. There is no guide nor much explanation about the ruins. Just a single board to tell you what it is

Bhuj is a municipality town as well as the district headquarters situated in the Kachchh district of the state of Gujarat, India. Located in the westernmost part of Gujarat state, Bhuj lies in the western region of India at 110 meters above sea level. It is near the Gulf of Kutch, a part of the Arabian Sea and is overlooked with a hill called as Bhujiyo Dungar towards its west. About Chattardi in Bhuj, Gujarat : A popular site is the cenotaph’s complex at Chattaradi in Bhuj. These are built of red stones. Of all the tombs here the largest and the finest is the one of Rao Lakha built in 1770 AD. It s polygonal in shape with balconies and an intricately carved roof. Other impressive cenotaphs are the ones of Rao Rayadhan, Rao Desai and Rao Pragmal, respectively. Chattardi History : Tourists will be made to remember the historical days of the past once they visit Chattardi. The complex is one of the rarest monuments existing in India to till date that is made completely out of red stones

It's quite good to experience the beauty of the ruins/monuments. We went there right after lunch, so it was very sunny. There is a park adjacent to the place which is nice too. It gave some shade and a cold Breeze which was really pleasant. A good place to hangout.

This place looks like the Greek structures and with the structures affected by the earthquake it is still well maintained. If you want to witness the best sunset in Bhuj then you should visit this place without fail. You will take about 30 mins to complete the visit to this place. Shots from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam will keep coming to your mind as you see this place. There is no entry fee at this place and it gets closed by 6pm so be sure to reach before 5pm so that you get the best experience, else the security person will come whistling (the whistle sound of the birds is unique and not so irritating though 😉). A good place to visit if you are within the city of Bhuj!

Chhatedi is a historical monument located in the city of Bhuj in the Kutch district of Gujarat, India. It is a complex of cenotaphs or memorial tombs built in honor of the Kutch rulers and their family members. The word "Chhatedi" means umbrella-shaped canopy, and the monument is named so because of its distinctive umbrella-shaped dome-like structures that adorn the top of each cenotaph. The domes are supported by intricately carved pillars and are a unique feature of the monument. Gujarat is a beautiful example of traditional Kutchi architecture and is an important cultural heritage site. Its intricate carvings, distinctive umbrella-shaped domes, and serene location make it a must-visit destination for those interested in history, architecture, and culture.

A small but fantastic sample of great stone workmanship. It is Infact an abandoned graveyard of Kingdom era where the departed members of the Royal family are resting. The fine classic workmanship on the tombs are worth appreciating. After the severe earthquake of 2001 many domes have fallen, still it an important place to visit while in Bhuj.

This place has nothing to see as it consists the ruins of what this place used to be before the earthquake. Although many workers have been appointed to rebuild this place, but for now this place is worth a miss. Those with interest in history would find this place interesting. There is no proper entry to this place and no parking as such. There's a small cramped up space between two shops outside from where one enters these ruins. I parked my car outside on the road.

Beautiful place for good pictures 😉 The place is mostly on ruins due to the earthquake..and for that same reason it might even remind you of the Roman Forum....but there is still quite a lot for us to appreciate the intricacies with which the monument was built... The carvings are so detailed and beautiful... You may want to wake up early and catch an early sunrise... It renders a beautiful golden colour to the place

It is behind the BAPS swaminarayan mandir. The structure was built in 18th century and it is in ruins now after 2001 earthquake. What to expect: - Ruins of 18th century royal centopahs built by Jadeja ruler Rao Lakhpatji. - Broken pillars, semi damaged structure, floral patterns and stripe patterns can also be seen across the walls that remain. - Square, hexagonal, octagonal centopahs. - One of the domes with blue colour similar to what we see in Turkey but it was dull due to lack of maintenance. - Detailed artwork of a Mahaut riding an Elephant, gujarati woman and many other intricate carvings. - Locals suggest that there were 15 structures here as 15 wives of the king committed sati here. Most of them were damaged in 2001, some slabs depicting the queens can be seen. - It is very close to the Hamirsar lake and it is a paradise for birdwatchers during sunrise / sunset. - There is no entry fee and do not expect lot of cleanliness or toilets inside premises. - There is a green area with trees which is clean and people can sit and relax here. Many even bring food and sit and eat it here like picnic.

Definitely for anyone who appreciates ancient history and architecture. Ruins still in tact and one can easily walk around all the spaces and climb up into the mini shrines. No entrance fee and no information about this site. It's hard to find the entrance, which is a turnstile between a home and small shop. Definitely read up about the site before going for context!

This place is for people who are interested in visiting ancient and historic locations. There was a local labor, who was very much friendly and became our guide without any expectations in terms of money. We loved to understand the history of this place before 2001 earthquake and then how things changed since then. We clicked some great pics here. I am sure you can spare 30-45 mins to visit this place while in Bhuj as its just 10mins away from main market.

We visited Chhatradi on 08 Dec 2022 along with family. It took us some time to findout the entrance as it is an obscured entry just next to ASI building. This is a place where there is a garden and ruins of 18th century structures built by Jadeja clan with unique combination of Rajputana and Mughal architecture. There is no entrance ticket for the place. No separate parking is available and no one to guide you. It would be better if you read about the place beforehand as there is no description for any of the ruins except one board which is very insufficient. It would have been better if there are benches to sit as it gets very hot during the day. Garden along with the ruins is quite big but no sitting benches is available.

Historical ruined graveyard of maharaj and his 51 wives. According to history his 51 wives had took johar with the king. Architecture of this place is really beautiful. You can find a peaceful atmosphere here.

This place is in the middle of city with no big sign board on the entrance so it might be a little difficult to find out this place. This place has ancient remains with picturesque background with many old ruins and arches that is in much need of restoration. It is definitely worth visiting if you're a history lover.
