Khunjerab National Park is a national park in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Khunjerab National Park is Pakistan's third largest national park, and is adjacent to the Taxkorgan Natural Reserve in China. Khunjerab National Park in Gilgit-Baltistan tops 4,500m (15,000 ft) and is known for its elusive and endangered snow leopards. As in much of Pakistan, the military is complicit in profiting from the trade in endangered species. The Khunjerab Pass (also called the Khunjarab or Kunjerap, or, in Chinese, the Hongqilapu Pass 红其拉甫) is a key overland route for tourists, business people, and goods between China and Pakistan. It forms the only open border between the two countries and is the highest paved border crossing in the world.

Khunjerab National Park is Pakistan's third largest National Park. The park is adjacent to Taxkorgan Natural Reserve (1,400,000ha) in China. This park was created on 29 April 1975 by the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on the recommendation of Wildlife biologist Dr. George Schaller. Over half of the park is above 4,000m. Khunjerab Pass, the gateway to China via the Karakoram Highway, is at 4,934m. Much of Khunjarab National Park in Gilgit-Baltistan tops 4,500m (15,000 ft) and has one of the largest concentrations of the elusive snow leopard. As in much of Pakistan, the military is complicit in profiting from the trade in endangered species.

Passed through it via KKH. Stopped at the toll collection point. But since it was not scheduled in the tour program, we did not visit the park the way one should. I can say this much that a lot needs to be done to support the precious animal species of this region.

Khunjerab means Death Valley, earlier I wasn't aware of its name from local (wakhi) language, but after visiting the place it is really a death valley, because its really a remote place and among highest paved highway, snow falls any time of 365 days, this border exists at 16K ft altitude after covering some 1k km on KKH which is amazing felt like driving on glass.. the place is home of Snow leopard, bear and markhor. its a must recommended place.. Especially in summer.

Reaching one of the highest borders in the world is no joke! U need lots of patience and much desire to see it. Khunjrab is cold and chilly, people with respiratory and cardiovascular diseases might have problems due to low oxygen at such high altitude. The place needs lots of traveling though the roads are well maintained and comfy. U’ll go through tunnels and can view the loveliest Passy cones on the way. Snow covered Karakoram peaks and the marvellous Attabad lake too! Which offers a range of boating experience. Safe travels!

Khunjerab national Park is one of the most beautiful places in Gilgit Baltistan. It is home to exotic species like Markhor and Snow Leopards. On the way to top, one gets a view of this mini K2. The fauna and fora of Khunjerab is just exceptional. It also has Misghar and Xhapursan valleys in the neighbourhood, which have their own marvels to offer. A must visit for every tourist planning a trip to Norhern Areas of Pakistan. Strongly Recommended

Khunjerab National Park, located in the stunning landscapes of Pakistan, offers a captivating experience for nature enthusiasts. The park, situated at high altitudes, boasts breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and diverse flora and fauna. The iconic Khunjerab Pass, one of the world's highest paved international border crossings, adds to the park's allure. Visitors can witness a variety of wildlife, including ibex, marmots, and snow leopards, making it a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers. The park also serves as a critical habitat for several endangered species, contributing to conservation efforts in the region. The cultural richness of the area, influenced by local communities, adds a unique dimension to the park's charm. However, accessibility can be challenging due to its remote location and harsh weather conditions, making thorough planning essential for a rewarding visit. Overall, Khunjerab National Park stands out as a jewel in Pakistan's natural treasures, offering a blend of stunning landscapes, biodiversity, and cultural richness.

Home of wildlife in Gilgit Baltistan. Such conservatory parks are needed for the preservation of wildlife. Community engagement is great and we were able to see the National Animal on the mountain trails as well.

Mighty mountains covered with snow ❄️ gives a breathtaking view. After crossing Sost and moving forward towards Khunjerab pass, these mountains can be witnessed. Small waterfalls and the river flowing with full swing among these mountains are really amazing 😍
