Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib is a Sikh gurdwara or place of worship in the city of Fatehgarh Sahib in the Indian state of Punjab. The gurdwara marks the 1710 conquest of the city by the Sikhs under the leadership of Banda Bahadur. Sikhs captured the area and razed the fort built by Ferozshah Tughlaq to the ground. HISTORY- This Gurudwara Sahib had been built to commemorate the martyrdom of younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, who were bricked-up alive in 1704 by Wazir Khan, the then Governor or Fauzdar of Sirhind, a magnificent gurdwara was constructed. Very cleaned and well maintained Gurudwara sahib. See how beautifully it has been decorated on the birthday of Shaheed Baba Fateh Singh Ji (14-12-2018). Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh 🙏🏻

The Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib is located at Fatehgarh Sahib district, Punjab which is approximately 39 Km away from Mohali district,in north-west of India 🇮🇳. The place is worldwide known for the greatest martyrdom of two younger sons (Sahibzade) of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaaj who were bricked alive by then Subha Sirhind Wazir khan in 1704. At the younger age of 7 and 9 Baba Fateh Singh and Baba Jorawar Singh did not bow down before the court of Wazir Khan, they were lured by various things so that they could accept Islam, However, Baba Fateh Singh and Baba Jorawar Singh were remained in Chardikala of Akaal Purakh Waheguru. During the war with Aurangzeb, Guru Sahib- Sahib Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaaj had to vacate the Quila Sri Anandpur Sahib, during that time the family of Guru Sahib was separated from him. The two younger sons Baba Fateh Singh and Baba Jorawar Singh along with Mata Gujri ji (Mother of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji Mahraaj) were moved toward Sirhind with their trusted cook Gangu. Mata Gujri ji had some money with her, On the way the Cook Gangu’s mind got corrupt and wanted to have all the money in possession of Mata Gujri ji. He informed Subha Sirhind Wazir Khan about the presence of Two Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri ji. They were caught by Wazir Khan, When he (Subha Sirhind) failed to embrace them to accept Islam, he bricked alive two sahibzadas to martyrdom, upon came to know about the great martyrdom of Baba Fateh Singh and Baba Jorawar Singh, Mata Gujri ji who was kept hold on bare cold floor on top of the building collapsed. (Gurudwara Thanda Buraz is located on this place) The Subha Sirhind was so cruel. Sri Toddar Mal ji who was then affluent business had to pay whopping amount in gold coins (the value of that amount can not be counted or estimated) to purchase a piece of land for the cremation of sahibzadas. (The place where Gurudwara Sri Jyoti Saroop Is is located)… when I entered this sacred place, the feeling I felt can not express in words …. One and only word which is chanted that is Waheguru …Waheguru….

It is a Sikh gurdwara or place of worship in the city of Fatehgarh Sahib in the Indian state of Punjab. The gurdwara marks the 1710 conquest of the city by the Sikhs under the leadership of Banda Bahadur. Sikhs captured the area and razed the fort built by Ferozshah Tughlaq to the ground. To commemorate the martyrdom of younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh, who were bricked-up alive in 1705 by Wazir Khan, the Governor or Fauzdar of Sirhind, a magnificent gurdwara was constructed. It is the location where two youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji – 7 year old Fateh Singh and 9 year old Zorawar Singh – were betrayed by their cook and servant Gangu to the Mughal army, seized, asked to convert to Islam and when they refused they were buried alive under the orders of Wazir Khan. Their martyrdom on 9 December 1705 has been remembered by the Sikhs by naming the site as Fatehgarh after the youngest boy killed, and by building a large Gurdwara in 1843. The town is also the location where the Sikhs took revenge by capturing it from Wazir Khan in 1710 and killing him. However, the Sikh militia was defeated again few years later and the town remained in the control of Muslim rulers, including later an appointee of Ahmed Shah Durrani till 1764, when Khalsa recaptured it by defeating and killing the appointee Zain Khan.

This Gurudwara Sahib is built on the place where Chote Sahibzade (02 younger children) of Guru Gobind Singh Ji were bricked alive by subedar of sirhind wazir khan for not accepting Islam and to take revenge from Guru Gobind Singh Ji. This is the same place which is considered as the most expensive piece of land which was bought by Deewan Todar Mal Ji by covering the land with gold coins in standing position to perform the last rites of Chote Sahibzade and Mata Gujar Kaur Ji. Every Sikh should visit here once in the lifetime to bow before the sacrifices of the family of Guru Gobind Singh Ji 🙏

Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib marks the site of where the two young sons of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked alive, tortured and beheaded. The actual site is located in the Bhora Sahib which is underneath Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib. Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, with affiliated Gurdwaras, is administered directly by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. In addition to the daily programme of morning and evening services and kirtan, largely attended assemblies are held on the first of each Bikrami month. The most notable event of the year is a fair, popularly known as Sabha, held on 11th, 12th and 13th of Poh, which falls during the last week of December, to commemorate the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh's sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh Ji and Sahibzada Fateh Singh Ji along with Jagat Mata Gujri Ji.

Fatehgarh sahib is a complex consisting of several important shrines or Gurdwaras linked to the younger sahibzadas (younger sons) of Guru Gobind Singh. It is located about 5 km north of Sirhind (30°37'N, 76°23'E) in a district calledFatehgarh sahib and marks the sad site of the execution in 1705 of the two younger sons of the tenth Sikh master at the behest of Wazir Khan of Kunjpura, the faujdar of Sirhind. The main entrance to the Gurdwara complex was built byMaharaja Yadvindra Singh of Patiala in 1952. The historical wall, in which the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked in, has been preserved in this Gurdwara. The sanctuary containing the historic wall in known as Gurdwara Bhora Sahib. Gurdwara Burj Mata Gujri and Gurdwara Shahid Ganj are also located in the main complex of Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib. It was at the site of Gurdwara Burj Mata Gujri that the two younger sons Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh of tenth Guru and the Guru's mother Mata Gujri were kept in confinement by Wazir Khan. The place were the three were confined is known as the `THANDA BURJ' (cold tower); built to provide a cool retreat from the summer's heat, it provided only chilling punishment to the Guru's sons and his mother during their imprisonment in the extreme cold. It was in the tower that Mata Gujri collapsed on hearing the news of the martyrdom of her grandsons. Later on, Gurdwara Mata Gujri was constructed at this location to honour Mata ji.

The city is a historically important settlement 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of the city of Patiala and 42 kilometers (26 mi) west of Punjab's capital, Chandigarh. It is a major pilgrimage center in Sikhism. The Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib is the major landmark in the town. It marks the location where two youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji – 7-year-old Baba Fateh Singh Ji and 9-year-old Baba Zorawar Singh Ji– were betrayed by their cook and servant Gangu to the Mughal army, seized, asked to convert to Islam and when they refused they were buried alive under the orders of Wazir Khan.[1][6] Their martyrdom on 9 December 1705 has been remembered by the Sikhs by naming the site as Fatehgarh after the youngest boy killed, and by building a large Gurdwara in 1843.[1] The town is also the location where the Sikhs took revenge by capturing it from Wazir Khan in 1710 and killing him.[1][3] However, the Sikh militia was defeated again few years later and the town remained in the control of Muslim rulers, including later an appointee of Ahmed Shah Durrani till 1764, when Khalsa recaptured it by defeating and killing the appointee Zain Khan.[1][3]

The Gurudwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib is dedicated to the great martyrdom of younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh who were bricked alive in 1704 by Wazir Khan, the then Fauzdar of Sirhind. After vacating Qila Shri Anandgarh Sahib upon war with Aurangzeb, SHRI GURU GOBIND SINGH JI when crossing the swelled Sirsa River, MATA GUJRI and two younger Sahibzaadas got separated and they were accompanied by GURU SAHIB’S cook Gangu a trusted servant who betrayed the family and handed over the Mata Gujri Ji and two Younger Sahibzadas to the Wazir Khan, where they were subjected to torture to embrace Islam. When they refused to do so Mata Gujri Ji and her grandsons were confined at Wazir Khan’s Thanda Burj (Cold Tower) and later were bricked alive in a wall. When Mata Gujri ji came to know about this she also collapsed on this place. The historical wall where the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh were bricked has been preserved in this Gurudwara. The sanctuary containing the historic wall in known as Gurudwara Bhora Sahib. Gurudwara Burj Mata Gujri, Gurudwara Shahid Ganj and many other historical Gurudwaras are also located near Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib. The annual Sahihid Jor Mel is organized in the month of December ( 11-12-13 Poh) to commemorate the great martyrdom of Younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gurji Ji in which thousands of pilgrims from all walks of life pay their respect to the great martyrs.

(Translated by Google) We know about the martyrdom of the young princes (seven and nine years) from point to point and they were laid to rest but does anyone know what happened to them before that to intimidate them and convert them to Islam? How much torture was inflicted on them? What happened to them before their martyrdom? 1) According to the book "Katha Guru Sutan Ji Ki" written in Brij Bhasha by Bhai Dona Singh Handuria, a Sikh who had separated with Mata Gujri Ji, the young princes were brought to Morinda by wearing watches. 2) On the night of 9 Poh, mother and younger siblings were starved in a call room at Morinda and no clothes were given on the cold ground cut in that call room all night. 3) 10 Poh was brought to Sirhind where Wazir Khan returned disappointed as he could not capture Guru Ji even after such a long siege and when he found out about the arrest of Mata Ji and the younger princes he thought that mother and son Moh will draw him towards me and force him to bow before me 4) Mata ji and the little princes were imprisoned in the cold tower .. At that time water was flowing under the cold tower with which the wind would collide and come up so it would tremble even in the extreme heat. What will happen now is unpredictable (this tower has now been demolished and rebuilt by Panth Dokhis) 5) Mother and children sat on the cold floor and mother had only a few children's clothes. Even that night they were not given anything to eat. 6) Two days later they were produced in court. According to Dr. Ganda Singh, the nostrils of the Sahibzada's were red, their lips were blue and their hands were cold. 7) When Sahibzada disobeyed, they were tortured 2) The Sahibzada was beaten with a spoon (thin tut) so that they would accept Islam out of fear of being injured. With this, their flesh appeared and scars appeared on the soft body. After this sentence, they were sent back to their mother. 2) The next day both the Sahibzada's were tied with pipples and shot (from Katha Guru Sutan Ji Ki). 5) The fingers of the Sahibzada were set on fire by placing the pulpit and the skin was burnt and the Sahibzada was shaken (according to Dr. Ganda Singh Ji). 2) At the end of the last court, when Poh was asked to give fatwa to Qazi, no fault of Sahibzada was found. At this time, once again Sucha Nand played the role and asked Sahibzada what will you do if you are released, Sahibzada Said that we will go to father Guru Gobind Singh and collect Singh and take the head of this province Sirhind. Sucha Nand has said what will you do if you are caught again? He said again, will we take the head of this state? Sucha Nand said if caught again ?? Then finally Sahibzada Zorawar Singh said, "O Sucha Nand, as long as the roots of this state are not uprooted and we are not martyred, we will continue to fight." Voices came from all sides. Rebels of the government “O. The Qazi said that these government rebels should be marked in the grassroots. The verdict was announced and after telling the whole story to Mata ji, tomorrow we will be selected. Mata ji spent all her life on service spirit and divine earnings on her grandchildren that night. According to history, before going to the martyrdom, Mata ji decorated the turbans of the little princes in blue robes from the bundle and kissed their foreheads and bade them farewell. According to Sohan Singh Seetal, Baba Fateh Singh, the youngest son, goes a little further and looks at Mata ji from behind and says that after the death of Dadi ji Mata ji, you were the one who never left us alone. The wall that had been dug in the foundations of the two princes fell down and the executioners, sharpening their daggers after fainting and regaining consciousness, were again asked to accept Islam. There was still a chance. You will erase the truth from the world Akal is not afraid of any emperor or glory Listen to your teachings from the heart I am saying, "What is the language of your God?" Both the princes were taken under their knees by Shasan Beg and Vashna Beg executioners. They were martyred by cutting their trachea during the period from 11:45 to 11:30. By the historical scriptures written in the genealogy Baba Zorawar Singh was martyred in two to two and a half minutes and Baba Fateh Singh kept on kicking and bleeding for about half an hour (twelve minutes) and slowly his legs stopped moving. Fatehgarh Sahib is named after Fateh Singh, the 6-year-old son of Guru Gobind Singh, who was seized and buried alive, along with his 9-year-old brother Zoravar Singh, by the Mughals under the orders of governor Wazir Khan during the ongoing Mughal-Sikh wars of the early 18th century.
