A well known and religious place having some historical values. Devoted to lord Shiva. On the bank of river ganges. Every year in the month of shrawan importance of this place increases nicely. Whole environment becomes religious. Nice surroundings. Very well organized circumstances.

This is very old temple made up of stone. This Shiv ji temple is situated on the bank of holy Ganges, earlier it was in between the river but due to decrease in water level it is now in the bank . During Sawan ,many devotees take Ganga jal from here to Deoghar mandir. The soothing environment and Ganga river nearby can give you goosebumps. Must visit if you are in Sultanganj. One request - please don't throw garbage here and there

The temple of lord shiva and parvati is situated in Sultangunj , Bhagalpur Bihar is on one small rock. The temple used to be situated in the middle of river Ganga. Earlier people used to hire boat to reach the temple. Later govt built long bridge to reach the temple. However since last 3-4 years the water has dried and small motorable road had been constructed on the river bank to temple. Now all vehicle reaches to the temple directly. Only during rainy season the water gets logged and people uses bridge to reach the temple. Inside the temple you will experience cool moist breeze from Ganga and complete peace of mind. The temple remains closed from 12 pm till 4 pm. If you happen to be in Bahaglpur , then this one would be one of the must visit place. The place is lit at its glory during Sawan..August month.

This amazing temple in waterways of Ganges is just half an hour drive from Bhagalpur. This place has fond memories of my childhood and is also my maternal grand-parent's place. The temple is situated in holy town of Sultanganj (Bhagalpur) . This small town Sultanganj and temple is witness to great Shravani Mela (Fair). This temple has some very old carvings, sculptures and inscription on the stone, apart from being place for prayer of Lord Shiva. The temple is on the Murali rocks of Sultangaj. Lord Shiva is known to be Swayambhu or self originating from the very beginning. This is a very important place of worship and attracts millions of pilgrimages every year in the holy month of Shravan (July/August). Few interesting facts about this place Sultanganj is that, it is known to have contributed many antiquities from Krishnagarh to Patna & London museum. Word's largest Buddha's statue found from Sultanganj is kept in Birmingham museum, London. My childhood memories include visiting temple in boats.

The place is divine. The temple is located in the middle of Ganga river. A bridge connects the temple to the river banks. The ancient Petroglyphs on the mountains itself says its story. The Petroglyphs are really a masterpeice of art and divinity. In the garv grih of Baba Ajgaibinath the are three shiv lings when entering through the entry gate the shiv located in the right side is Baba Ajgaibinath and the first one on the left and middle one are samadhis. From inside the temple you watch in any direction you will see River Ganga which itself is a amazing view. The Ghats are properly constructed here and probably safe. But near the temple there is no proper parking space. If you are looking for a proper parking find it before reaching the temple. According to my review i have added some pics to verify the same.

Visited this place during my Bihar visit on 14/01/2020. A famous Bengali thriller film "Baidurya Rahasya" was shot here. Though the place has been changed a lot, in the film the temple was in between the Ganges & one had to take a boat to reach there, but now the river has changed it's course leaving the temple hill on dry land & floating beside it, a bridge has been made to reach the temple easily, yet the place is quite enjoyable. The steep stairs of the temple on the hill the atmosphere will amaze a person. Stand on the roof in the midway of the hill just above the river and if you have luck you can see Ganjetic Dolphin which is a rare species & can be found here in quite a number.

The Ajgaivinth Temple is a magnificent religious edifice that exudes an aura of grandeur and spiritual significance. This temple is a revered pilgrimage site for devotees of Lord Shiva, who flock to this holy place to seek blessings and offer prayers. The temple is located in the city of Varanasi, India, and is renowned for its intricate architecture and intricate carvings that depict various mythological stories and legends. The temple's sanctum sanctorum houses a sacred lingam, which is believed to be a manifestation of Lord Shiva himself. The temple's serene ambiance and tranquil surroundings provide a perfect setting for meditation and introspection. The Ajgaivinth Temple is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of India and is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking spiritual enlightenment and cultural immersion.

A must go place in Sultanganj, very beautiful sight at the bank of river ganga. This temple is carved through a mountain and structure is very old. Shivling (Baba Ajgaivinath) is ancient here. You will see many old idols, carved on stone. Temple is maintained very well but government should also preserve the heritage. Om Namah Shivaay.

Sultanganj has a historic past closely associated with the Mahabharata. Once it was the Anga rajya of Karna, the illegitimate son of Kunti and the 6th brother of the 5 Pandavas. Though, the exact date of the temple formation is not decoded but per relics and history- the Ajgaivinath Temple was built during the rule of the Pala dynasty. References of Gupta, Maurya and the Pala era are found across the area through the excavated coins, stupas, seals, terracotta artwork, and Hindu as well as Buddha idols. The ancient name of the place was Jahangira, which was derived from the name of Jahnu Muni. Jahangira is a modified form of Jahnu giri (the hill of Jahnu) or Jahnu griha (the abode of Jahnu)

Ajgaivinath Temple, located in Sultanganj, is one of the most famous Hindu Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Idol in the main temple of Ajgaibnath is believed to be Swayambhu (Self-manifester). The temple has been associated with Muni Jahnu, as a belief says that the Idol in the Ajgaivinath Temple protruded in Jahnu Muni's ashram. There is a story which says that when Muni Jahnu was meditating in his ashram, the Ganges on her way to the ocean disturbed Jahnu with the ripples of her waves. Muni Jahnu is believed to have swallowed the whole river, and Muni Bhagirath saved the Ganges by making an incision on Jahnu's thighs to make way for the Ganges. Thus river Ganges received the name Jahnavi.

Ajgaivinath Temple of Lord Shiva is located in Sultanganj, a town in Bhagalpur district of Bihar in India. Also known as Gaibinath Mahadeo, this is one of the rare ancient Hindu temples where the deity Lord Siva has existed as ‘Swayambhu’. Ajgaivinath Shiva Temple has been constructed on a rock which is projected out from the holy river Ganges. To reach here, there are boat services from Murli Hills of Sultanganj.

This is a historical place here a temple of Lord Shiva is situated at top of the hill and the temple is surrounded by Ganga river. This is a religious place and very good place to visit and worship you can enjoy with your family. But be cautious in river side because there is not very good management like in Haridwar. If you came with Children's take proper care in river side.
