Do yourself a favor and visit this place. Banana leaf takes all my heart ❤️ Best South Indian meal ever tasted in Mumbai. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – Sambhar Rice. Thuppa Masala Dosa - Just melts in your mouth. Absolutely the best meal we had in a while. Highly recommend!👌👌

I just love this place! Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can visit this place for any of your meals. They serve amazing South Indian food. One of the best. My personal favourite is their Mulgai Idli and Akrot Halwa. Have tried other dishes also and they are equally good. A good place to dine with your family and friends. Is crowded on weekends so an early visit can save you some time.

Vast south Indian meal menu. They also have north indian dishes available. Waiting time reaches 45 mins on weekends. Amazing taste and aroma. It's recommended to try neer dosa and appam.

The ambiance is lovely and the place is done up really well. The food can be better. We ordered rasam vada which was not nice. The masala uttapam was nice. The thali is probably the best. The pasaysam was just amazing, the best I would say. I travel and write. Be a part of my journey @shikhaanair on Instagram

Authentic South Indian cuisine restaurant. They serves very good South Indian food. Taste was good. In south indian food coconut & banana are used so people may find it less spicy & sweet but that's the speciality. Waiters here not helpful to explaining details & contains of many dishes as people like me don't know much. Few of them not aware, while very few are knowledgeable and helped also. They suggest good dishes also. Overall very good experience of tasting different regional food. One should try that !!!

I visited this restaurant today for the first time. It was a good experience for sure. Food was very tasty. We ate gun powder idli which was amazing. And pineapple shira was awesomest. Tomato rice was also tasty.

A food stop for Authentic south Indian food. The taste of all the food we had was awesome. Rajni dosa topped the list. Rasam Vada is exceptional Neer dosa and Thai curry kofta was good. Speciality dessert- pineapple dosa took us back to Tirupati. We were 12 PPL, so the food images are in portions. Ambience is nice with light south Indian music. Prices are affordable. Service is good. Ending with a Paan. 4star it is

Best South Indian Fine dine. It has an amazing decor and ambience. The menu is extensive as well. We tried the Rajni Dosa, Dakshin Biryani, Coorg Idli and filter coffee. Dosa was okay. Biryani and idli were just amazing. Must try. We wanted to try guntur Idli. But it was over by the time we placed the order. It is also one of the crowd favourites here. Do try them all

We visited this place on a weekday for dinner and had an amazing time. Food wise it exceeded my expectations. Loved the Rasam wada (best of my life), Ve Chettinad with appam. Coorg idli is also a must try for someone who loves to experiment. In dessert, we had coffee icecream, which was quite strong yet delicious. Ambience wise I found it bit noisy on weekday, so can imagine it might be too loud on weekends. Loved the entrance with 2 statues in glase box Service wise I personally was satisfied, but the staff looked too tired to even smile or talk. Felt bad for them. I would definitely come back for the delicious food on another weekday!

South Indian cuisine is my least favourite and mostly I avoid it. But, sometimes I am willing to give it a shot when my friends recommend it. Unlike the hustle-bustle in any udupi joint, this place is a nice spacious sit-down restaurant, at a easy-to-find location in Borivali. This vegetarian restaurant is popular for south Indian snacks and people can be seen waiting outside the restaurant for their turn on weekends and holidays. They have a variety of dishes which you can experiment. There are items on the menu that you need to inquire about, because you have never read the names before. A few north Indian dishes are included for people who cannot do without their paneer. Overall, good ambience and good food. I have eaten here before too and had enjoyed the meal even more than on this occasion, but perhaps that can be attributed to a reduced level of surprise. We ordered : Mosambi Fresh Juice INR 140 and Apple Kiwi Juice INR 260. Roasted Onion Garlic Uttapam INR 220 was amazing. Idli Platter INR 375 had 6 variety of Idlis which were soft and delicious. Chettinadu with Appam INR 340 looked and smelled great. It had a tangy taste, deep red colour, creamy texture and was loaded with vegetables. I liked the dish but somehow didn’t like the big chunk of vegetables they had put in it. But, I will recommend this dish as it was tasty. For Desserts we had Idiyappam with sweet milk INR 325 which was delicious and balanced with the right sweetness. Pineapple Sheera INR 195 was clumpy and had food colour. It was average and can be skipped. The total amount spent for 5 people was INR 2184. The prices are on a higher side if you compare to an udipi but definitely affordable compared to other restaurants as it is justified by the quality of food they offer. Overall the service was not as efficient as one expects from such a place for this price. The restaurant is cramped with service staff. At a point we thought there were more servers than customers. Nice for a quick bite if you are in the area, as it is not easy to get better than average quality South Indian fair these days. I would recommend this for people who want to taste something different.

I had pepper corn capcicum uttapam and banana cutlet. Both were very tasty. Being a South indian I felt that both chutneys were very bland but the sambar was tasty. Overall good. The price to quantity ratio is good to got 4 big pizza shaped slices of uttapam.

There has been leakage issue with the ACs in this place since the time it has started operating but apparently it’s not important for them to fix that. The leakage is right above some of the tables in the restaurant and they do nothing about it. They have wasted money on some idols placed for decor outside the restaurant but they can’t fix the interior. Even further disgusting was to find a strand of hair in the food. The rawa masala had mashed potato sabji in it which was tasteless. Size of kanchipuram idli is changed, taste even deteriorated. Not gonna visit here anymore.

One of the best place to have authentic south indian food. Just loved the taste and quantity as well. I had ordered guntur idli which had enough spice to get your taste buds tingling and craving for more. Secondly, for main course I had Chettinad gravy with parotta which was mildly spicy but tasted amazing with crispy and flaky parotta. With this I had Dakshin biryani which is the best of the lot. You can't get any better veg biryani than this. And finally for dessert it was the amazing tender coconut payasam loaded with tender coconut pieces with a tinge of gulkand flavour. I would highly recommend this place for lovers of South Indian dishes. Just loved it.

It's a south Indian restaurant so better order south Indian food. It's authentic and really good. Most of us never go beyond idli dosa but the varieties are different here. Also the dishes are never heard by us , so please try those , they are so good . The ambience and decor are too good starting with the two people standing outside to welcome you. The service gets (-1) as even though we 16 were still eating our lunch , the majority of the servers disappeared as their duty hours were over . We literally had to wait to ask someone to clear the table so that we could cut the cake . The one who finally came along said he would clear only 1 of our 3 tables for cutting the Birthday cake Must visit once and maybe again if you are a vegetarian and south Indian food lover !

🌟 Banana Leaf Restaurant, Borivali - Aesthetically Pleasing Ambiance, with Room for Improvement in Service and Flavor I recently had the pleasure of dining at Banana Leaf Restaurant in Borivali, and my experience left me with a mixed bag of impressions. 🏞️ Ambiance: Undoubtedly, the ambiance of Banana Leaf is a standout feature. The restaurant is adorned with a charming and aesthetically pleasing setting that creates a delightful atmosphere for diners. From the decor to the lighting, it sets a serene backdrop for a dining experience. 🍽️ Food Quality: While the ambiance is a definite win, the same can't be said for the food. The flavors fell short of expectations, with a somewhat mediocre taste. The dishes seemed to lack the punch and vibrancy that one would anticipate, leaving room for improvement in terms of enhancing the overall dining experience. 🍛 Service: Unfortunately, the service aspect also left something to be desired. The staff appeared to struggle with efficiency, resulting in a less-than-optimal dining experience. Timeliness and attentiveness could be areas of focus to elevate the service quality. 💡 Room for Improvement: Banana Leaf has the potential to be a culinary gem with a bit of fine-tuning. Addressing the flavor profile of the dishes and refining the service efficiency would undoubtedly elevate the dining experience for patrons. 👍 Highlight: The restaurant's strongest suit is its ambiance, creating a visually pleasing and comfortable space for patrons. 🌟 In Summary: Banana Leaf Restaurant in Borivali showcases a beautiful setting that captures the eye. However, to match the aesthetic appeal, there's room for enhancement in both the flavor profile of the dishes and the efficiency of service. With a few adjustments, Banana Leaf has the potential to offer a truly exceptional dining experience. #BananaLeafBorivali #DiningExperience #AmbianceMatters #RoomForImprovement 🍽️🌿🌆

Pan-South Indian place serving a variety of dishes from across all South Indian states! Went for lunch one day here with family. They have valet parking. Had to wait for 30 minutes to get a table as it was Sunday afternoon. Better to reserve in advance. There’s lots of seating space both inside and outside. Food is good. We ordered the Coorgi Idli, the special thali, Appams and a dosa. Even though they claim to be pan South Indian, flavour is fairly homogeneous. Spice levels are on the higher side. They do serve an excellent sambar. The filter coffee was a disappointment though. The serving staff is very polite and courteous. Service is somewhat slow during rush hours. So be prepared to wait if you’ve ordered something exotic. The pricing is also on the higher side. For a basic South Indian place, it’s way too high. A disappointingly average Filter coffee costs ₹70, which is a real loot! I probably won’t be returning here just by myself unless it’s a family lunch. No point spending all that money just for South Indian food!

No doubt Banana Leaf is one of the best restaurants in terms of South Indian Food in Mumbai. Good taste, it is so fresh all the time. Loved the amras and Puri lately. Even the ambience is beautifully done keeping the South Indian theme in mind. It's best if you are looking for traditional south Indian food in Mumbai....

This was my first time at Banana Leaf and our waiter Baban Thakur helped us order the perfect food for our taste buds. Tried the sp thali which had a variety of dishes perfectly serving one individual. Coorg Idli is a must have. Plus all types of dosas were great at taste. Special thanks to Baban and the service was warm and welcoming. Washrooms and hygiene was top notch.

The filter coffee is amazing,if visiting then must try.The Dosa was disappointing as I went there with the hopes to have authentic South Indian Dosa which is hard to find in Mumbai, but I was disappointed, the sambhar was sweet but other all dishes were very tasty.

I am a big time fan of Sadhya. We called up this outlet and they mention that sadya is available only during Onam however, there is thali available. When we reached the place there was 45 min waiting. The place was crazy crowded. There is a waiting area made available. My friend and I ended up ordering two thalis. One with Kerela Paratha as choice and other with appams. I wanted to have appam and mushrooms, but they did not have it. Now coming to thali, it was nowhere close to Sadhya. The sabzis were absolutely no no for a thali, there was no avial, no cabbage, no beans, no dry chilli, but there there was dal, mix veg in coconut gravy some dry sabzi which was not at all agreeing to my pallet. So please don't order the thali here. Other dishes looked bit appetizing as they were being served to fellow diners. I am certainly not sure, if I would be visiting this place again.

I had given a visit to this restaurant recently. I had visited this restaurant with my family. The first thing that you'll notice that the restaurant is quiet and have nice touch of South Indian culture. Dish is also served on a banana leaf. We had tested some of the house dishes one of it was a banana cutlet it was good but I'll like to say that the quantity was really less than what was shown in the picture. We had also ordered dam biryani which was very good. But to tell you the truth I was most impressed with the chatni they had given to us it was really delicious 🤤 I will really suggest to try the white one it was really good. Apart from the food the dish serving time was really high and I'll say the service was decent enough. Also talking about price, the cost was a bit high but not unaffordable. I will surely suggest this restaurant for some good talking and dinning time and also for good family time
