Starbucks
1.
Being
a
critique
observer,
comparing
Starbucks
with
Third
Wave
Coffee
(TWC),
Starbucks
loses
points
on
its
architecture.
The
entrance
is
just
a
big
glass
window
with
steel
handles
for
the
door.
The
interior
feels
more
like
a
empty
open
box
with
furniture
in
the
corner.
The
ceiling
has
many
circular
lights
that
are
repetitive
and
look
random.
Unlike
TWC
where
the
furniture
splits
your
path
in
two
direction
on
entrance,
emphasizing
you
to
explore.
They
have
different
types
you
lights
that
direct
your
focus
on
interesting
wood-designed
structures.
Starbucks
also
has
a
display
section
on
entrance
but
instead
of
showcasing
brewing
utensil
and
coffee
seeds
brand
they
chose
to
fill
it
with
random
looking
bottles
with
no
consistent
colour
pallet
in
mind.
To
fill
the
empty
dark
reddish-brown
and
white
walls
they
chose
to
hang
picture
frames
of
abstract
patterns
and
colours.
The
inner
side
of
starbucks
has
dull
light-green
leaf
wallpaper
which
matches
with
the
green
tiles
of
order
counter.
They
also
got
soft
music
playing
in
the
background
to
add
to
the
atmosphere.
2.
The
order
section
has
7
paper-printed
menu
boards
instead
of
digital
screens,
surrounded
by
repetitive
shelves
having
different
coffee
cups,
giving
a
old
school
vibe.
Every
single
board
is
digitally
printed
lacking
human
design
touch.
They
also
have
a
glass
display
case
to
present
bakery
items
but
its
thick
dark
black
borders
creates
a
visual
barrier
between
the
items
and
customers
making
it
hard
to
buy.
The
glass
case
doesn't
have
one
name
tag/title
board
to
describe
the
bakery
items
in
a
group.
(Eg-
board
with
croissants
written
over
it
in
TWC
)
3.
Talking
about
the
variety
of
food,
they
had
Frappuccino,
signature
milkshakes,
tea
and
cold
brew,
hot
coffee,
sandwiches.
Starbucks
specializes
in
it's
beverages
but
sadly
can't
keep
up
with
it's
bread-related
sweet
and
salty
dishes.
(
The
sandwich
I
ordered
had
soft/dried
bread,
soggy
veggies
which
made
it
hard
to
consume
and
enjoy
)
They
should
work
on
dish
presentation
by
including
good
side
dishes.
4.
People
who
work
here
also
have
unique
black
and
green
work
attire
with
a
cap
that
makes
them
easily
distinguishable
from
the
customers.
They
are
polite
and
friendly
but
some
of
them
do
have
low
confidence.
Hence,
Requesting
the
manager
to
encourage
them
to
be
more
open
with
customers.
Unlike
TWC,
here
you
have
to
collect
your
own
food
from
the
counter
when
they
call
your
name.
This
can
be
improved
by
giving
customers
their
own
table
token
number
and
serving
their
order
on
their
table.
(
extra
work
but
it
improves
overall
service
)
Overall
Starbucks
still
runs
well
because
of
it's
brand
name.
Even
when
it's
slightly
overpriced.
I
spent
3hrs
here
and
no
one
rushed
me
or
asked
me
to
leave.
They
treat
you
with
respect
and
I
would
definitely
consider
to
come
here
again.
