A huge beautiful and neatly maintained fort amidst the city. A must go place and they give a free guide at the entrance for which you might have to wait for a few mins. Each section of the fort is very well maintained and has a different color. The fort will show up in different colors for each section like Anup Mahel, Rani mahel etc. A lot of history with this fort which you must read through. The Rajas at that time hosted a lot of European guests so you will see the European influences in the designing and the cutlery they used. The fort has a huge ground, temples, lawn, museum , cafe to explore.

Only small part of the fort is open for public. But it's good to know your history. Some of articles are still in trend like crockeries, sofas etc. It felt good to visit this fort. The ticket includes a guided tour generally takes 1-2 hours. But it is recommended to spend some time in reading the labels and spend some time with the history.

One of the most beautiful and well preserved fort Ive ever seen. If one is in Bikaner then this place is a must to explore. The overall construction quality and the staff is very nice. The fort is still owned by the Royal Family of Bikaner and they have kept the fort open for tourist visitors. There are two options to explore the fort. One is a free guide and the other one is a paid guide (INR 400/-). The entry fee for the fort is 50/- each. They charge separately in case one wants to take a video. Photographs are free. There is car parking facility available here as well which costs 20/-. I would definitely recommend visiting this fort.

Hey, just wanted to share how awesome Junagarh Fort is! I recently visited, and it blew me away. The history and architecture are mind-blowing – seriously felt like stepping back in time. The details in the palaces and temples are something else. Walking through, you can't help but imagine the royal life that once thrived there. The whole setup, with the city sprawled out below from the ramparts, is just breathtaking. The staff there are super knowledgeable and passionate. I learned so much during the guided tour. If you're into history or just want a taste of Rajasthan's royal past, Junagarh Fort is a must-visit. Highly recommend it for a memorable experience!

The entry fee is just 50rs including the guide. So, don't get fooled by outside guides. It has the biggest collection of arms and ammunition. Must visit in Bikaneer.

The palace is very beautiful and its ticket costs only ₹50/-. There are so many things to see apart from its astonishing architecture. I won't share the photographs from inside as it would ruin the fun but I'd certainly say that this fort is worth visiting for sure.

This is the best place to visit in Bikaner. This is a royal Fort with excellent carving of Marbels and sculpture with gold. Some part of this hot husband converted to museum and open for general visitors. This museum also provide guides with its entry tickets of rupees 100. Worth visiting this place as history speaks here itself.

The place is good. But the guide system which is different from other forts of Rajasthan is actually not good. The guides are mandatorily added with the ticket due to which they jus make sure a group of people walks faster and finish their job. Very bad experience in that sense. Other places you need to pay extra for the guide but that's worth it

Probably a less famous than other contemporary forts in Rajasthan- but this is a must see if you are in Bikaner! The place is well maintained and clean. The staff/guides are helpful and keen to answer you. The museum boats good collection of weapons, armour, clothing and the items which were used by the king (who was memeber of imperial war cabinet during World War I) Fort has magnificent facade.

Excellent spot for history lovers and art aficionados. Place is well-preserved. The gold inlay work is something to be seen. Open spaces, courts, intricate lattice work, armoury, even a World war I fighter plane etc gives a glimpse to the Royal opulence of those times. There's a water-cooling system to cool the place at one spot. One room is painted to look like cloudy sky and lightning striking for the royal kids to feel rain and thunder as Bikaner doesn't have much showers. Access is controlled by ticketing system. Guide is a must but the authorities provide it; you can have your private guide as well. Vehicles can be parked inside.

Junagarh fort is one of the very few forts which is not situated on the top of hill/ mountains. It was made in 16 Th century and modern Bikaner city has been developed around the fort. This fort is a private property and most of the places are not open for public. There are different Mahals made by different Rajas in different times. Famous are Anup Mahal - decorated with gold, Badal Mahal- old version of A/C room and many more. There is also a museum of Royal belongings. You must take a audio tour, but be sure about the language you are asking for. If you take audio tour you have to deposit Rs5000/- for the devices which you be refund after retuning them. You can take guide also but we found audio tour more effective. There is plenty of car parking and Car parking is inside the fort and charge is flat 50/-. We walked from outside of the fort to see the different gates as you will miss it if go by the car. During winter it is open till 5 pm but you need to enter at least by 3:30pm to see all the places. Museum is open till 6pm. You must spent 1.5-2.0 hrs to unveil the history of that time.

One of the best forts (or I guess the only fort ) to visit , when you come to bikaner. Spread in acres of land. Good for bringing children and adults as well. Carry a water bottle with you. Visiting the whole fort will take approx 4 to 5 hours. Also donot forget to visit the museum as well. Buy the tickets well within time because the tickets are available only up till 6 pm I guess you have you buy an extra ticket( though at a nominal price) for a visit to museum

Junagarh = the old fort. This used to be the fort used by the royal family of Bikaner before moving out to the new one (Lalgarh). The best part here is, they offer free guide service to each tourist. They group you and send a guide along with you. The guides are very professional and friendly. They explain to you the history very nicely. Loved this fort. It showcases the rich heritage of the Rajasthani rulers.

It's a beautiful fort with some very beautiful gold and glass work done in the palace. However there is some crazy rule that people are not let into the palace on their own. They let people in a group along with a place guide. Who is mostly not really a guide. So they try to rush you through the place and so if you want to see the place in your own time then you really have to figure something else out.

While in Bikaner, this is a "must visit". This is the only famous fort in Rajasthan which is not on the top of a hill. Reaching here is not difficult and there is vehicle parking space inside the premises. It is well maintained with some areas restored well. The evolution of the fort with its architecture evolving over generations can be visualised within 2 hours. The crown piece of the fort is undoubtedly the oldest invaluable sandalwood throne dating back to the Rathodes (from Kannauj to Bikaner). Our visit was made memorable by our guide whom we met oafter purchasing entry tickets eat INR 100 per person.eBesides being proficient in Hindi, English and French, he has a thorough understanding of the history of Bikaner and its culture. With a keen eye for best spots for memorable snaps, he captured our trip in photographs for us in addition. On further enquiring he offered to guide us to authentic Rajasthani food and for shopping. Finally we relieved him only in the evening. The day turned out to be a fully packed, eventful and a memorable one thanks to his help.

The fort's imposing structure, with its high walls and strong bastions, impresses upon arrival. As you enter through the intricately designed gates, the fort unfolds a treasure trove of architectural wonders. Junagarh Fort is a fort in the city of Bikaner, Rajasthan, India. Raja Dhaj, Ror Kumar, ruled over the principality of Junagarh in the fifth century BC. The fort was originally called Chintamani and was renamed Junagarh or "Old Fort" in the early 20th century when the ruling family moved to Lalgarh Palace outside the fort limits. It is one of the few major forts in Rajasthan which is not built on a hilltop. The modern city of Bikaner has developed around the fort. The fort complex was built under the supervision of Karan Chand, the Prime Minister of Raja Rai Singh, the sixth ruler of Bikaner, who ruled from 1571 to 1611 AD. Construction of the walls and associated moat commenced in 1589 and was completed in 1594. It was built outside the original fort of the city (the first fort built by Rao Bikaji), about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) from the city centre. Some remnants of the old fort are preserved near the Lakshmi Narayan temple. Historical records reveal that despite the repeated attacks by enemies to capture the fort, it was not taken, except for a lone one-day occupation by Kamran Mirza. Kamran was the second son of the Mughal Emperor Babur who attacked Bikaner in 1534, which was then ruled by Rao Jait Singh. The 5.28 hectares large fort precinct is studded with palaces, temples and pavilions. These buildings depict a composite culture, manifest in the mix of architectural styles.

The fascinating Junagarh fort was constructed by Raja Rai Singh, between 1588 -1593 AD. He was the sixth ruler of Binaker who ruled here from 1571 to 1611 AD. The supervision of the construction of the fort complex was done by Karan Chand, Raja Rai Singh’s Prime Minister. The construction of Junagarh fort had started on 30th January 1589 and was completed on 17th February in the same year. Architectural layout of Junagarh Fort Bounded by a moat, Junagarh fort has an intimidating structure. The palace complex houses some wonderful structures in its boundaries. Palaces in marble and red sandstone make up for a wonderful collection of kiosks, windows, balconies and courtyards that look stunning. Junagarh fort complex has two entrance and has a total of 986 long walls that have 37 bastions. There are a total of 37 palaces, along with a number of pavilions and temples. One of the highlights of the architecture of Junagarh fort is its stone carving with an excellent quality. Number of rooms of the palace have paintings and decorations that were done in traditional style. Suraj Pol and Daulat Pol are two main gates of the fort. Suraj Pol or the sun gate was east facing and was the main gate of the fort complex. The historical Daulat Pol has the handprints of the royal ladies who had committed sati along with the pyres of their deceased husbands, at the Sati Stambh. Chand Pol, Karan Pol and Fatech Pol were the other inner gates. The Zenana or the latest quarters are extremely lavish and are a display of unique artistic skill. While they royal ladies were an integral part of the household, they were not really a part of the matters of the state. They used carved stone screens for interaction with others. These screens can be seen displayed here. Do not miss noticing the mirror work, paintings, and lacquer work.  The minarets, columns, arches and pavilions are gigantic and imposing.

This fort is also known as the old fort for the name epithet 'Juna' means 'old'. Comparatively this fort is smaller than the others in other cities such as the Mehrangarh fort or the City palace. A large section of the fort is closed for the public. Plenty of restoration is due in several sections and walls show obvious signs of aging and disrepair. The armoury section occupies most of the display and then the state rooms and royal regalia. Overall a satisfactory experience.

Junagarh Fort, an opulent marvel in Bikaner, stands out with its lower ramparts and towers, revealing its focus on luxury over defense. The red sandstone used, sourced from Jaisalmer, showcases Indo-Mughal architecture. The fort, often hailed as a living museum of arts, houses palaces like Badal Mahal, Gaj Mandir, Phool Mahal, Anup Mahal, Hawa Mahal, and Vikram Vilas. Each palace reflects the tastes of different rulers, with Anup Mahal featuring rare usta work in Mughal style. The blue walls of Badal Mahal depict white clouds, and Hawa Mahal was designed for cool summer winds. Gaj Mandir boasts stunning marble inlay work, while Vikram Vilas, resembling European palaces, served as the Darbar Hall. Noteworthy is the DH9 De Haviland war plane, a tribute from the British government. Guided group tours, included in the ticket, provide insights into the fort's rich history. The fort welcomes visitors daily from 10 AM to 4:30 PM. The entry fees are INR 50 for Indian tourists, INR 30 for Indian students, INR 300 for foreign tourists, and INR 150 for foreign students.

My wife and I visited this place on our travels through India. The place was very nice and we spent about 45 minutes here. We walked to the fort as our hotel was very close. You just walk up to the ticket counter and the entrance fee was IDR 400 per person. We also paid IDR 50 per person for an audio guide, which we would recommend. At the entrance you will find many people trying to offer you their services as tour guides, but we went with the audio guide. After walking around the fort we spent some time relaxing in the cafe in the garden, which was quite nice. We had lunch there and it was a nice break before we continued exploring Bikaner.

Nice fort. Only one guide is allotted for 20 people who himself doesn't have extra history knowledge. Still fort is beautiful and half of fort is open to visitors.

Brilliant place...great for people who love medieval architecture. Good place for photography too. The only fort in Rajasthan which is built on flat plain land.

One of the best maintained and nicely articulated fort museum of Rajasthan. If you are interested in architecture, paintings, printing, embroidery, artifact's, wood work, stone work, history etc. You name it and you have it. Guide fees included in entry fees for national tourists and not to forget photography. You can click anything unlike other palaces and forts where they charge hefty fees for everything, poorly maintained and explained. A must visit for people interested in the above subjects. Make sure you have half a day to spend at the place. Enjoy exploring and learning.

Amazing and huge fort. To visit this fort properly atleast 3-4 hours is required as there is alot of things to see which will amaze you. The cost of ticket for fort is 50 Rs and for museum is 30 Rs. You can visit any of them or both, totally depends on you.
