If you want to spend some time in Delhi then you should visit India gate and President house. There are many park in front of President house. The nearest metro station is Central Secretariat. People should take proper arrangement like water bottle and food whenever visit this site. In present, people can't visit India gate because construction company close the road. Thank You ❤️

India Gate in Delhi is a majestic war memorial, an iconic landmark that stands tall with historical significance. The intricately designed arch commemorates soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World War I. The atmosphere is both serene and patriotic, perfect for a reflective stroll. Lit up beautifully at night, it offers a mesmerizing view. Nearby lawns provide a peaceful retreat, ideal for picnics or just lounging. The surrounding area boasts delectable street food, adding to the overall experience. A must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, families, and anyone seeking a blend of culture, history, and leisure in the heart of Delhi.

For me, India Gate will always be one of the most beautiful landmarks in the world, no matter what time you visit it. Looks different when you look in the morning and different when you look in the evening.Millions of tourists come here from abroad. A great place to hangout with friends, family of any age group. The morning dawn breezy air and the natural lightning or the evening dusk cold air and the artificial lightning are the two great. You can do many activities here such as cycling, yoga jogging, outdoor games and many more.

It was wonderful time visiting India Gate, New Delhi with all my good friends. Not in a mood to return back from the place.. It was so nice to stay there whole day.. It's really a memorable day.. The place is so nice. Inside not allowed due to security reasons. But the view from outside is really amazing...Unfortunately, the area around the gate is closed due to the pandemic still, but wow is it beautiful! We came here to take some pictures and just enjoy the view for a while! I recommend coming by to at least witness this beauty from the outside of the gate since it is extremely iconic and important for India! It was awesome time visiting India Entryway, New Delhi with all my old buddies. Not in that frame of mind to return back from the spot.. Remaining there entire day was so great.. It's actually a noteworthy day.. The spot is so great. Inside not permitted because of safety reasons. In any case, the view from outside is truly astonishing...

India gate deserves 5 stars in matters of patriotism. However, from a tourist spots perspective it's better to see this gate on the way from your car then holding yourself to stand and have a picture of it, that's why I gave 3 stars. Yup, it's in construction and guards won't allow you to stand in the centre and have a picture (it's against the law). Even you will be fined if you haven't worn your mask in a public area. Personally, I don't have an issue following the laws.

Most of the time it is crowded. However worth a visit if the weather is good. You can plan a picnic as well. Carry your own food and water as street vendors outside are not good from a hygiene perspective.

I used to visit here occasionally. This time I visited on 28 Jan and found too crowded. But simultaneously came across with artists who had come from different states to participate in Republic Day celebration. It was good to see people from different parts of India at one place. Free Entry, nice underpass to reach India Gate.

Historically it is the war memorial known as Rajpath. “The INDIA GATE” It looks best at the night- the peace, views and the water reservoir and the light on the India Gate - Specially the tricolour one everything looks so beautiful. There is a lot of crowd but the place itself is very peaceful. It is known as a hexagon design. Prefer going in the evening. A lovely place 🇮🇳

The India Gate, Delhi was originally known as the All India War Memorial. It is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath, Delhi on the eastern edge of the "ceremonial axis" of New Delhi. It stands as a memorial to 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in between 1914–1921 in the First World War. It is a very good place to visit with your family and loved ones. The surrounding are neat and very well maintained. The place is easily accessible by various means of public transport including Metro. The evening lighting is great and a must watch. There are park in front of India Gate with options for boating. The street food vendors also offer a lot of choices.

India Gate is to Delhi, what Gateway of India is to Mumbai, but better! :p Well, India Gate is one of the most important monuments in India's rich cultural heritage. You'll be mesmerized by it's beauty too, especially at night when it's all lighted up in the tricolor, representing our nation's pride. Come here to witness the beauty and you can also visit the War memorial situated here. And what else? So much else. You can come here for a picnic in the lush green gardens. You can come here for a drive. You can even come here for cycling in the morning. It's one of the best cycling spots in the city. There are just so many reasons to come here. Whatever might be yours, just don't miss it!

One of the best memorial of Bharat which is India Gate. We have visited to this place and it's very beautiful. There is lot of space to sit and have fun with your family 👪 and friends. There is fountain and other activities. No tickets are required to visit here. You can freely move around . There are some fast food available before entering. Here you can also enjoy other activities. It is also very crowded but peaceful. It is very clean and do not make dirty.Security is very tight here. Go and enjoy.

India Gate, Delhi, is a symbol of national pride and a must-visit destination. Standing majestically, it evokes a profound sense of patriotism. During my visit with family, the atmosphere was charged with respect and pride. The iconic structure, surrounded by well-maintained lawns, offers a perfect backdrop for contemplation. Illuminated in the evening, it transforms into a captivating sight. The names of soldiers inscribed on the walls serve as a poignant reminder of sacrifice. India Gate is not merely a monument; it's an emotion that leaves visitors, like myself, feeling deeply connected to the rich history and spirit of the nation.

Great place for outing with family and friends 👍👍👍👍👍 Visited India Gate during this lockdown. I felt it was amazing as it was less crowded, clean and green. I'd visited this place so many times earlier alone as I prefer some silent place. It looks great in the night time due to lighting. A really good place to spend quality time with friends and family. It's a beautiful and best place for photoshoot, morning walk, evening walk and night chilling 😄. You can freely take pictures. Go there and enjoy😆😄👍👍👍

More than 5 stars to the property itself, being the best wonder in the world. But the security checks and staff behaviour has to be more courteous and polite as they represent our cou try as a whole to the whole world. Also their is online booking for the tickets but still their is a lot of confusion at the gates. Anyways, the premises was very clean and well maintained but their was no strictness towards wearing masks and maintain social distance. I suggest to book online and visit as early as possible in the morning hours especially when you are with family and children.

This is one of the most well-kept places in the capital. Tourists click a lot of pictures, have ice creams and enjoy in the green gardens surrounding the monument. Near the India Gate, is a Children’s Park where young kids take different kinds of rides. Not only this, this historic place has a boat ride that overlooks the magnificent monument. 1. Due to the many shops in the vicinity of Delhi Indian Gate, there is a high traffic flow in this area and it is advisable the you watch out for your personal belongings. 2. You have to seek their consents before taking pictures with the guards at the Gate.

Place is wonderful. Very neat and clean. It feels awesome seeing the monument and the surrounding area. Feels so proud. People need to maintain hygiene strictly. People litter a lot and authorities should fine them heavily for polluting such a beautiful place. Even the most educated class people litter and don't care for the cleanliness.

I recently visited India Gate, the iconic war memorial in New Delhi. It was a truly awe-inspiring experience. The monument stands tall and proud, a testament to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers. Beyond the memorial itself, the surrounding gardens are a beautiful place to relax and take in the sights and sounds of Delhi. The gardens are well-maintained, and there are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery.

It was an great experience to see one of the most beautiful monument of the India. It's architecture is humongous so that anyone can get falls in love with it. It's interior design ideas so futuristic that lives for so many years and never any other monument can replace its beauty. I really really want to come back here again and again to see its beauty that never ends. The river view is also the best view that I have ever watched. 💕💕💕💕😘

The India Gate is a war memorial located astride the Rajpath, on the eastern edge of the "ceremonial axis" of New Delhi, formerly called Kingsway. The architect was Sir Edwin Lutyens, an Englishman who designed numerous other war memorials and was also the principal planner of New Delhi. Great place. How much you visit here is less Great experience. Best view is dawn of the morning or the late evening. But during the covid-19 pandemic it's restricted to go closer. It is circled by Barricades. The moment to see it from closure are more worthy. A great place to hangout with friends, family of any age group. The morning dawn breezy air and the natural lightning or the evening dusk cold air and the artificial lightning are the two great combinations of this place which will pleases your mind and soul. The most beautiful sunrises and sunsets happens at this place which you can't feel from anywhere in the world. India Gate in Delhi is a majestic war memorial, an iconic landmark that stands tall with historical significance. The intricately designed arch commemorates soldiers who sacrificed their lives in World War I. A really good place with a history. This place is great with kids and family to spend some spare time and enjoy like doing picnic. The place is free of cost to enter. Just be ready to walk a bit as there is plenty to walk to reach the India. The India Gate and the War Memorial in Delhi stand as poignant symbols of sacrifice and patriotism, commemorating those who laid down their lives in service to the nation. The sprawling greens surrounding the arch add to the solemn I like shopping there because the prices are low and the quality of the product is good and I like the street foods in this area and the transport is good.Though India gate is breathtaking at absolutely any hour of the day, its magnificence is even more during the hours after sunset.

Lovely place, try to visit on cloudy day. The lighting at India Gate looks very nice at night. Do not stand with your vehicle for long at night in front of India Gate, police comes to inquire. It is very crowded on weekends. Carry water bottles and chips etc. Try buying packaged water because normal water does not taste good.

Beautiful place. You can hire a guide here, the average charge is near ₹200-300 you will have to bargain a bit. You can also hire photographers. I sadly do not know the charging rate for that. You have to buy the ticket online. Also have to pay extra to go and see the grave in the mosque. Would recommend you to take a tour guide he will explain you all the history properly and will point out details that you would normally not notice.

Good place to visit here with your family and friends. The best time to visit here is evening or in day when it's not too hot. There are too many street venders occupying the road which is not a good thing. There are tiny bike rides which you can ride. You can celebrate picnic with your family there and can eat food there.

India Gate is one of the central attraction of New Delhi. People clicking pics at the sight makes it more attractive. The Gate looks like a normal Gate but much bigger. Also it is in close proximity of National museum gallery so it’s worthwhile to have a look at it from close proximity.

The climate during the months from October to March will be favourable for sightseeing tours in Delhi. You can enjoy visiting India Gate with your family and friends peacefully during that time. It will be fun if you bring cooked or packaged food with you, and have a picnic. You can also go for boating at the Boating Club adjacent to India Gate grounds. The nearest metro station to India Gate is Central Secretariat (Yellow Line). The metro station has more than one exit gate so that you can seek the help of customer service about the closest gate to India Gate.

I visited India gate on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. There is plenty of space for parking vehicles but isn't well maintained. Sadly, no proper washrooms. We can't go near the monument. There is plenty of Garden area so you can have a picnic and spend time with family. And we as visitors can do our bit by using the dustbins for garbage. You will also find people selling key chains, balloons and also tattoo artists( not sure how safe they are) and ice cream vendors. Overall a good place to visit on a weekend with family.

The maximum temperature in Delhi soared to reach 42.4 degrees Celsius on April 9, 2022, the highest for the first 15 days of April in the past 72 years. It surpassed the previous record of 41.6 degrees Celsius for April 1 to15, registered on April 8 this year, and April 12 and 13 in 2010, at the Safdarjung weather observatory, from 1951 to 2022.

India Gate, an iconic sandstone arch gate located in Delhi's Rajpath area, serves as a poignant war memorial honoring the sacrifices of soldiers from the Undivided British Army during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War of 1919. I found it to be a truly impressive and moving tribute. Personally, I thought it was very nice.

It's an awesome place to go on weekends especially at night time because the views are beautiful I went today in the morning driving my bicycle and you'll find hundreds of bicycle riders here in the morning hours not too much traffic all day it is well maintained by traffic police. Also would like you to know that the roundabout has a lot of opening so just remember the way you came in by the name of the road. I almost got confused while leaving. Parking is free of cost and 200 m from India gate

Must visit place when you are in Delhi. The new National War Memorial is behind this India Gate where daily ceremony takes place in the evening where we can pay tributes to those who made supreme sacrifice to the nation. Well maintained monument and it's always crowded. Crossing the road to this place is little tricky. Best to reach this place in Auto rickshaw and get down on the India Gate side else it's tough to cross the road if you get down in the opposite side.

The India Gate looks the best at night. The peace, the views, the surroundings, the water reservoirs, the lights on India Gate, especially the tricolour one, everything was perfect. There are a lot of Photographers who click pictures for just Rs.20/-. Even though there was a lot of crowd, I still found it peaceful!! ✨♥️ The sitting arrangement is not very nice but you can definitely go for a long walk there. Go on a walk in winters, you'll love it!! ✨♥️

Sikandra is a grandiose complex famous for being the home of the tomb of Akbar the Great, the greatest Mughal leader. This glorious monument showcases a harmonious fusion of Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Islamic and Jain art and architecture. Marvel at a collection of lavish red sandstone and marble gateways, chambers and minarets. Enjoy a moment of peace and serenity while wandering along the pathways of a tree-shaded garden. Emperor Akbar started work on Sikandra and his own mausoleum in the early 1600s and it was completed by his son, Jehangir. Akbar’s dream was to create a blend of religious themes befitting of his well-known tolerance of spiritual beliefs. The complex takes its name from Sikandra Lodi, the former Sultan of Delhi who established the district in which it stands. The complex has four imposing gateways, although the northern gate suffered some lightning damage. The eastern and western gates feature stucco work, mosaics and dome-shaped pavilions, called chhatri. The southern and most impressive gateway is the main entrance to the mausoleum. Note its huge central archway, intricate mosaic work and four white-marble minarets, each crowned by a chhatri. A wide stone causeway leads from the southern gateway to the complex’s main building and Akbar’s tomb. On either side of the causeway are sprawling, tree-lined lawns. Spot deer, monkeys and peacocks. Additional pathways connect with the other gateways. The building is a 5-tier structure that resembles the shape of a truncated pyramid. Adorning the exterior walls are huge iwans, which are vaulted halls, beautified by mosaics and semi-precious stones. Look up to see a series of chhatri and minarets. Inside, colorful floral, Arabic and calligraphic patterns festoon the hallway that connects to the Tomb of Akbar the Great. Additional chambers house the graves of Akbar’s daughters and the Mughal princess Zeb-un-Nisa. Find the complex in the district of Sikandra, located in northwest Agra. It’s about a 30-minute drive from Agra Cantonment railway station. Get here via taxis and low-cost auto rickshaws.

It was really a great experience. The vibe is so cool when i visit there the 72th republic day practice is going on the Indian army preparing for the march past there are some state's jhakis as well. The parade covers 8km distance but in this year the distance of parade is only 3.1 km just because of the pandemic Corona virus.

The India Gate and the War Memorial in Delhi stand as poignant symbols of sacrifice and patriotism, commemorating those who laid down their lives in service to the nation. The sprawling greens surrounding the arch add to the solemn atmosphere, providing a space for reflection. Visiting in the evening elevates the experience to a whole new level. As the sun sets, the entire structure comes alive, bathed in a mesmerizing array of colored lights. The illumination not only enhances the architectural beauty but also imparts a sense of reverence and national pride. The play of lights against the backdrop of the night sky creates a breathtaking spectacle, making the evening visit to India Gate an absolute must.

The building is made of red stone that rises in stages into a huge moulding. On top of the arch, INDIA is written on both sides. Names of over 70,000 Indian soldiers are inscribed on the walls of the monument in whose memory it is built. There is a shallow domed bowl at the top, which was intended to be filled with burning oil at special occasions. At the base of the India gate there is another memorial, the Amar Jawan Jyoti that was added after independence. This eternal flame was lighted in commemoration of the unknown soldiers who laid their lives to serve this nation. The lush green lawns, Children Park and the famous boat club around the place make it a perfect picnic spot. Cool evening breeze near the fountains of India gate attract hundreds of visitors daily. In the evenings, India gate is illuminated with number of lights around it that gives it a magnificent appeal. Standing near the base of the monument one can have a good view of the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The beautifully lit up monument provides a memorable background against the darkening sky. Even in daylight, the stretch between India Gate and the Rashtrapati Bhavan offers a splendid view.

This place has parks and grounds where people come to spend holidays and arrange picnic. Rastrapati bhawan is straight in the line of sight. You'll feel a good amount of energy as you remember that the Indian Army parade happens twice a year at this place only.

The RajPath, President House, Parliament and many more important things are close by it. You can plan a visit in morning or evening, it looks best in both time. You can walk from closest metro station Central Secretariat (around 3km) or can take e-rickshaw.

The iconic India Gate, an arch gate made using sandstone, is a war memorial situated in the Rajpath area, Delhi. It was built to commemorate the Undivided British Army (also known as British India Army) soldiers who laid down their lives during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War of 1919. This imposing structure is one of the largest war memorials in the country with the names of over 13,000 soldiers written on it. Surrounded by lush green and well-manicured gardens, India Gate is a favorite spot among Delhiites, who enjoy their summer evenings and Sunday picnics here with families and friends. Formerly known as All India War Memorial, it is one of the top tourist attractions to explore once you check in at the hotels in Delhi. Want to know more? From its history and architecture to timings, entry fee, and lesser-known facts, nearest metro stations to reach by, here’s everything you should know about the Indian Gate in Delhi. The memorial was designed by a famous English architect by the name Sir Edwin Lutyens and its foundation was laid by the Duke of Connaught, third son of Queen Victoria, on 10 February 1921. After 10 long years, on February 12, 1931, Viceroy Lord Irwin inaugurated and dedicated this structure to the nation and its future generations. The names of over 13,000 soldiers who lost their lives during the war are also inscribed on the memorial. In the honor of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, a new structure was added to the India Gate in 1972. Known as Amar Jawan Jyoti (which means the Flame of the Immortal Soldier), this was inaugurated by Indira Gandhi, who was the then PM of India. India Gate Architecture Sir Edwin Lutyens, who designed the India Gate, was a leading war memorial architect and was also a member of IWGC. He built it as a secular memorial free of any religious association or cultural ornamentation. Also, Lutyens wanted the monument to be a classical one, so refused to incorporate any Asian motifs such as pointed arches. The architectural style of India Gate is that of a triumphal arch and is often compared with the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, the Gateway of India in Mumbai, and the Arch of Constantine. Situated in the middle of a hexagonal complex, the structure is 42 meters tall and 9.1 meters wide. The whole structure is made using yellow and red sandstone which was brought in directly from Bharatpur. About 150 meters towards the east of the India Gate, there is a canopy that was built in 1936 as a tribute to former Emperor of India, King George V. There used to be a marble statue of George V, but it was removed due to opposition from some political parties after India’s independence. Currently the statue is located in Delhi’s Coronation Park. India Gate also houses a small structure called Amar Jawan Jyoti, which consists of a marble pedestal with a cenotaph on its top. The cenotaph has the words ‘Amar Jawan’ written on all four sides in golden letters and also has a reversed rifle, capped by a soldier helmet, installed on it. The structure is surrounded by permanently burning flames fueled by CNG on all the four sides. India Gate is highly famous amongst people as it is considered as one of the best and nicest places to hang-out with family and friends. Based in the heart of the Delhi it has an amazing view of the entire road from all sides. The only thing I don't like is people eating and leaving the garbage on the roads and it makes me feel like they are following the same ritual of their abode. Every year on 26th Jan the same road parade takes place and more than a lakh viewers participate in the same.

India Gate is one of the best tourist attractions In Delhi. The monument is of great importance in history of India. The place witnessed many historical incidenta that brought shame and orestige to the country. The place is located at the heart of the city with easily accessible by roads( dispite the traffic blocks) . There was a Horrondous amount of smog in Delhi during our visit time. The place was surrounded by it , as the gate was no were to see.Despite this horrondous amount of smog, there problems from stray dogs wandering along the streets. These stray dogs are a great threat as they are always ready to bite as without any provocation. The pathetic government actions are the reason for the terrible situation of the city. The government should try to take the necessary steps to decrease pollution with growing pollution which is set to double within 15 years. The smog is a gret threat to the health for the tourist.I was not even able to get a glimpse of the structure. This is not a great place to visit between November and February.

It was first inaugurated in the year 1931 and it still has the same charm. Also, this structure reminds of us the sacrifices made by thousands of soldiers who have given their lives during the first world war.

Seeing the immense crowd of people, the mind becomes elated and automatically the feeling of patriotism is awakened. Mesmerizing Night Experience at India Gate, Delhi I had the pleasure of visiting India Gate in Delhi during the nighttime, and it was an absolutely enchanting experience. The iconic monument, illuminated against the dark sky, created a stunning sight that left me in awe. The first thing that struck me was the grandeur of India Gate, standing tall and proud. The beautifully designed arch and the intricate carvings added to its majestic appeal. The lights strategically placed around the monument highlighted its architectural brilliance, creating a mesmerizing ambiance. The atmosphere at night was vibrant, with locals and tourists alike gathered around India Gate. Families, couples, and friends were enjoying the pleasant evening breeze and the captivating view. The energy was contagious, and it felt like a celebration of unity and national pride. As I strolled along the well-maintained pathways surrounding India Gate, I couldn't help but admire the surrounding gardens and green spaces. The meticulously manicured lawns provided a serene environment, perfect for relaxation and reflection. I found a cozy spot and sat down, taking in the beauty of the illuminated monument. The security arrangements were commendable, making me feel safe and comfortable throughout my visit. The presence of security personnel ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. India Gate at night is truly a sight to behold. The combination of architectural magnificence, vibrant atmosphere, and well-maintained surroundings make it a must-visit destination for both locals and tourists. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply seeking a memorable experience, India Gate won't disappoint. I highly recommend visiting India Gate during the nighttime to witness its enchanting beauty. It's an experience that will leave a lasting impression and create cherished memories. Make sure to bring your camera and capture the magic!

I visited on weekday but still it was too rush. Feel good to visit national monument. I wish i could spend more time. To keep cleanliness in mind, no packed food or water facilities are available inside this area. So bring your own food and water from outside or home. Good to spend quality time with family. Will visit again after planned trip for night light show on any special day.

The greatest historical places i am visited It was built to commemorate the Undivided British Army (also known as British India Army) soldiers who laid down their lives during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War of 1919. This imposing structure is one of the largest war memorials in the country with the names of over 13,000 soldiers written on it.

Located on Rajpath in the heart of Delhi, formerly known as All India War Memorial is a must visit place. It's a good place to bring young kids and enjoy some quality time with your family. You can have a picnic and enjoy street food. It looks amazing throughout the day but try visiting in the evening, enjoy the sunset and have an eye pleasing and wonderful experience of the lighting.

A really good place with a history. This place is great with kids and family to spend some spare time and enjoy like doing picnic. The place is free of cost to enter. Just be ready to walk a bit as there is plenty to walk to reach the India gate. But the place is beautiful after the renovation. So can’t complain. Just be sure to read the details about the renovation done and the change from Raj path to Karthavya path. This is displayed in the underground walkway near the India gate. Enjoy your time here😊

An impressive landmark in the centre of some really well kept gardens. It feels like a refuge from the busy city centre and seeing it lit up on certain evenings even more so impressive. There’s plenty of spots where you can jump out of a taxi and wander round and seeing it from different angles worth it. It’s understandable why it’s the famous landmark in the city.

No fires have been set on the rooftop in recent years, but four eternal flames are now sheltered at the base of the structure. The flames demarcate the Amar Jawan Jyoti, a small monument that has served as India’s tomb of the unknown soldier since 1971.

India gate was constructed to honor the soldiers of India that were killed during world war 1. This structure boasts of a beautiful architecture by India. It was first inaugurated in the year 1931 and it still has the same charm. Also, this structure reminds of us the sacrifices made by thousands of soldiers who have given their lives during the first world war. The essay on India gate is an insight into this famous memorial in India. Whenever someone visits Delhi, they never miss the India gate. Thus, it has become one of the integral parts of Delhi and also a major tourist attraction. The locals as well as the tourists coming to visit Delhi flock this place all around the year. Also, for many locals, the sprawling lawns around the gate on both sides is a nice picnic spot. It is very easy to reach the India gate as it is located centrally. Also, for winters, people pack their lunch and head to India gate along with their friends and families to spend the quality time. One can see children playing in these lawns along with elders sitting. The sight also looks good during the summer months. However, the most beautiful time to visit this place is in the night when it is illuminated fully with lights.

M ariam’s tomb is located on the left side of Agra-Mathura road, to the west of Akbar’s tomb, Sikandara. The tomb houses the mortal remains of Mariam Zamani, a Rajpt Princess of Amber (Jaipur) and the wife of Emperor Akbar and mother of Jahangir (Salim). The structure was originally a pleasure pavilion under Sikander Lodi who built it in AD 1495. Additions and renovations were made in 1623 AD when this baradari was converted into a tomb. The ground floor consists of some forty chambers built by Sikander Lodi, which bear faint traces of paintings on plastered walls. The centre of the ground floor houses the cenotaph of Mariam. The facades of the baradari had been veneered with red sandstone, which is cut into numerous panels and adorned with geometrical patterns carved in bas-relief. Each quoin of the structure is added with an ornamental octagonal tower. The tower is crowned by a pavilion supported by slender pillars. The upper storey contains the marble cenotaph, which is open to sky

Mariam-uz-Zamani was born a Rajput princess named Jodha Bai, the eldest daughter of RajaBharmal of Amer. She was married to Emperor Akbar in 1562 CE. She was honoured with the title Mariam-uz-Zamani ("Mary of the Age") after she gave birth to Jahangir. She died in Agra in 1623 and her son Jahangir built a tomb for her in between 1623 and 1627 CE. The tomb is just next to the Tomb of Akbar the Great, the only nearest of all the tombs of his other wives. The structure was originally an open baradari (pleasure pavilion) under Sikander Lodi, who built it in 1495 AD. It was adopted by the Mughals in 1623 AD and was converted into a tomb by making a crypt below the central compartment and remodelling it substantially. The mausoleum contains three tombstones: one in the underground mortuary chamber, which is the grave itself; the cenotaph above it; and another cenotaph on the terrace. The Tomb of Mariam-uz-Zamani is the mausoleum of Mariam-uz-Zamani, the Queen consort of the Mughal Emperor Akbar.[1][2][3] The tomb was built by Jahangir, in memory of his mother Mariam-uz-Zamani.[4][1][5][6] The tomb is located in Sikandra, a suburb of Agra.[7] HistoryEdit Mariam-uz-Zamani was born a Rajput princess named Jodha Bai, the eldest daughter of Raja Bharmal of Amer.[2][3][8] She was married to Emperor Akbar in 1562 CE.[4][2][3] She was honoured with the title Mariam-uz-Zamani ("Mary of the Age") after she gave birth to Jahangir.[4][9] She died in Agra in 1623[4] and her son Jahangir built a tomb for her in between 1623 and 1627 CE.[10][11][12] The tomb is just next to the Tomb of Akbar the Great, the only nearest of all the tombs of his other wives.[13][14] ArchitectureEdit The structure was originally an open baradari (pleasure pavilion) under Sikander Lodi, who built it in 1495 AD. It was adopted by the Mughals in 1623 AD and was converted into a tomb by making a crypt below the central compartment and remodelling it substantially. The mausoleum contains three tombstones: one in the underground mortuary chamber, which is the grave itself; the cenotaph above it; and another cenotaph on the terrace.[12] The ground floor consists of some forty chambers built by Sikander Lodi, which bears faint traces of paintings on plastered walls. The centre of the ground floor houses the cenotaph of Mariam.[7] This square tomb stands in the centre of the Mughal garden. It is built on a raised platform with stairs on its northern and southern sides. The two corridors running from east to west and from north to south divide the structure into nine sections that are further subdivided into smaller compartments.[11] The largest one is at the centre, four smaller square ones at the corners and four oblong ones in their middle. Massive piers have been used to support the broad arches and vaulted ceilings. The tomb is built of brick and mortar, and finished with stucco.[10] The facades (exterior) of the building were reconstructed with red sandstone panels and a chhajja with the addition of duchhati (mezzanine floors) at the corners by the Mughals. On each facade there is a rectangular structure which projects forward and has a pointy arch in it. It is flanked on either sides by wings, which consists of three arches and a set of double arches, one over the other, thus accommodating a duchhatti at each corner of the building. The wings are protected by chhajjas.[12][10] The duchhatti are accessible by stairways.[11] The tomb also contains the work of the Mughals, who remodelled them by adding chhatris and chhaparkhats. The tomb has four massive octagonal chhatris on its four corners, and four oblong chhaparkhats in the centre of the four sides. Each chhatri is made out of red sandstone with a white dome and stands on a square platform. The domes are crowned with an inverted lotus or 'padma kosha'. Brackets have been used to support the internal lintels and external chhajja, five on each pillar, making a total of 40 brackets in one chhatri. Each chhaparkhat is rectangular and has eight pillars with a similar cluster of brackets and a white roof. These chhatris and chhaparkhats are the most important ornament of the whole composition. The rectangular chhaparkhats with eight pillars and a cluster of brackets resemble the corner cupolas. The tomb doesn't have a dome. The mausoleum is of architectural importance in the category of Mughal tombs without a dome.[10][12][11] Another important aspect of the tomb is that it is identical both in the front and the rear. Unlike other Mughal era structures, the back entrance is not a dummy but an actual entrance.[15]

A memorial to 70,000 British-Indian soldiers, it was built by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1921 and stands 138 feet tall on Rajpath (earlier called Kingsway). Inscribed with ‘INDIA’ on its top-most central arch, the monument possesses another inscription below that pays homage to soldiers who sacrificed themselves in wars and battles.Interestingly, at an approximate distance of 150 metres from India Gate, stands Amar Jyoti Jawan (the flame of the immortal soldier). This essentially makes India Gate a place on the itinerary of every tourist across the globe who visits Delhi!

BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN DELHI 💯 ENTRY FEE - FREE This is a must visit place in Delhi The India gate is amazing. Vibe of this place is very positive. No entry fee is there. There's Amar Jawan Jyoti and the road to Parliament and President's palace. Sometimes due to security reasons, visitors can see this only from a distance. There are 2 sides to this. One is the main side from where you can see the India Gate. If you go on the other side, you'll be able to experience this more closely from the road.

India gate is one of our War memorial landmark. This place is good for hangout, best time to visit would be evening in summer. You can find many hawkers selling some snacks. There are parking spaces for vehicles. I've visited here many times. There used to be plenty of garden area where you can have picnic, but as of now avoid going there for sometime as the construction work is going over there and it will take some time to complete it.

For those who don't know about "India gate" Located in New Delhi, India, India Gate is a historical monument and a popular tourist spot. Britishers constructed this monument for honouring the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during World War 1 while fighting for the British army. India Gate is also a prime location for the celebration of Republic Day and Independence Day, and thus their credibility again rises during these periods. Indians celebrate these national festivals here, witnessing how soldiers gather for a parade of national defence forces’ three wings. Additionally, during the celebrations, the President, Prime-Minister, and the Vice President of the nation and the other invited leaders gather near India Gate to witness the grandeur.

From Delhi Railway station to India Gate it took 100 rupees in Auto, then we reached there. No ticket required to enter. Stay away from people who sells local products, never buy them as that's all are fake. View and surroundings are awesome 👍 we really enjoyed and took lots of photos. Very memorable day it is.

It was great experience visiting here with my family. The area is so clean and staffs are actively working here. If you want peace in Delhi, this is the place you should visit. But the water of the pond was so dirty it was looking green. I think, it should have been cleaned. It is like dark spot on the moon surface.

The greatest historical places I have ever visited It was built to commemorate the Undivided British Army (also known as British India Army) soldiers who laid down their lives during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War of 1919. This imposing structure is one of the largest war memorials in the country with the names of over 13,000 soldiers written on it Really hats off

India Gate is a majestic national monument that embodies the essence of India's rich history and patriotic spirit. My recent visit to this iconic landmark left me in awe of its grandeur and significance. In the evening, as the sun began to set, the atmosphere around India Gate took on a magical quality. The soothing vibes that enveloped the area were simply enchanting. It was a time when people from all walks of life came together to pay their respects and appreciate the monument's beauty. The "Kartavya Path" leading up to India Gate is a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by countless heroes for our nation. Walking along this path filled me with a profound sense of gratitude and pride. It serves as a symbol of our duty towards the country and the importance of remembering those who gave their all for our freedom. The greenery surrounding India Gate provided a perfect place to sit, relax, and reflect. The well-maintained lawns and ample seating areas allowed me to soak in the historic ambiance while enjoying the company of friends and family. It's a space where you can find solace and serenity amidst the bustling city. India Gate is not just a monument; it's a testament to the unity and resilience of our nation. It's a place where the past and present converge, and where people of all ages can come to connect with India's remarkable journey. Visiting this national treasure is an experience that leaves you with a deep appreciation for our heritage and a sense of pride in being a part of this incredible nation.

This should be a solid 3.5 star. The gate monument itself is essentially a grand arch set within a garden – deserving a 3 in my eyes. However, the ambiance elevates the experience to a 4. We particularly enjoyed our time there from sunset to the early hours of the night.

Had a good time in India gate. Night time is usually crowded by the people due to the night light. Besides, there were many stalls for local food stalls and photographers to take pictures. There was a nearby park where people can hangout and have a good time.

The ambiance around the gate is lively, with families and tourists enjoying the beautifully maintained gardens and the memorial's significance. It's a must-visit landmark offering a glimpse into India's rich heritage and a perfect spot for an evening stroll or a moment of reflection. We went two times , once during night and another during day. I will say night time view was better as, you will only find hazy pollution during day time.

India Gate is one monument that defines Delhi or India for that matter. It was built in 1931 as a memorial for martyrs of World War I and war in Afghanistan. At Rajpath, the structure looks amazing in evening lights. The gardens that line the structure are a must visit among the sightseeing places in Delhi. This is one of the popular tourist places to visit in Delhi at night. If you are in Delhi on the Republic Day, you must visit India Gate Parade which is really a prestigious and the most ceremonious event of India. Lots of international guests and national leaders are present on the occasion and pay tribute to the freedom fighters and great leaders of the country. Few Essential Tips: For the sightseeing tour at India Gate, the best time is from October to March. The weather is soothing this time to roam around. If you are having a family trip, go for a picnic near India Gate. Bring packaged or cooked food and have fun. Bus service is readily available to reach India Gate. Else, you can take rickshaw or shuttle rickshaw. Built By: Edwin Lutyens Built In: 1931 Entry fee: Free Opening hours: Always open Must visit: National Gallery of Modern Art Nearest Metro Station: Central Secretariat Distance from Delhi airport: 14 Km

All India War Memorial, popularly known as the India Gate, is located along the Rajpath in New Delhi. The imposing structure of India Gate is an awe-inspiring sight and is often compared to the Arch de Triomphe in France, the Gateway of India in Mumbai and the Arch of Constantine in Rome. This 42-meter tall historical structure was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and is one of the largest war memorials in the country. India Gate is also famous for hosting the Republic Day Parade every year. Dedicated to 82,000 Indian and British soldiers who died during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War, this monument has the names of 13,300 servicemen inscribed on its surface. The premises of India Gate also houses the Amar Jawan Jyoti, which is a kindled structure right underneath the archway. Owing to its rich historical background and astonishing architecture, India Gate has become one of the most popular picnic spots in the city.

Nice place to Hangout with family but Street food vendors rates are very highYou can easily visit here with the help of the Metro🚇. The nearest metro🚇 station from India🇮🇳 Gate is Central Secretariat and Khan Market metro🚇 station. I went to India🇮🇳 Gate with my friends. There is a fire🔥 at the center of the Gate which is always lit. I was strongly amazed to see the names of the freedom fighters engraved in it. India🇮🇳 Gate is one of the biggest attractions in Delhi. This is a place where the name of the martyr is engraved in the Gate. India🇮🇳 Gate is a Martyrdom monument. It is surrounded by a lovely garden❇️ which is well maintained but people through waste here and there which creates chaos. There is a huge variety of snacks🍟 is available here. India🇮🇳 Gate is a paradise for photogenic people. It is a good place to click📸 pictures. Lots of people visit India🇮🇳 Gate daily for exercise🧘‍♂️. The best time to visit is in the evening🌇 after 6 pm. You'll see the Tricolor🇮🇳 on the India Gate. I'm positive that any Indian feel proud to see this monument. Lighting & music🎶 creates an active atmosphere at night. I strongly recommend this place to everyone. Security👮‍♂️ is also good. India🇮🇳 Gate has an ample amount of parking space. 1

The best time to visit ‘India Gate’ is during evening because visitors get the chance to see ‘India Gate’ in day time as well as in night also. It looks charming in day time but looks appealing golden in night which has been shown in the first picture. One can witness this view just staying some more time after dusk.

India Gate is one of the politically and historically significant places in Delhi. It is represented as an All India War Memorial as it displays its grandeur to honor the martyrdom of valor fore-taken by the India Army. It was constructed as a war memorial by the British Raj in order to pay tribute to the martyrdom of British Indian Army during the First World War.  The deemed designer of this structure was Sir Edwin Lutyens. The foundation of this structure was laid in the year 1921. After ten years of planning and construction, it was finally inaugurated by the then Viceroy of India Sir Lord Irwin in February 1931.

It was the memorial remarks for our martyrs. But it remains closed in January from 2nd week to end of January. Very sensitive place as parliament, presidents house and much more VVIP live around this. This places also have war memorial that sparked us to join armed forces in order to serve the nation. There is a Amar Jawan Jyoti continuously firing to give homage to our Martyrs.

One of the best monument I have seen ever so far, this is a real gem of Agra, India and we should keep it safe and clean. Must visit for all age group. Also visit Taj Museum that is also located into the campus and know how it was built and spread the awareness!

Very beautiful place and the history makes you see this place for why it was built and for what it is. I suggest hiring tour guides, they are full of wonderful information. Also suggest photography done by someone on-site. Both helpful when coming with family or group.

The pride of the Mughal empire  TajMahal: Memorial to love  Waah Taj Most beautiful tomb in the world Love is not only a feeling to enjoy but a promise to keep forever Hanging out in Agra, capturing some beautiful architecture around the city Better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times The still waters of a lake reflect the beauty around it, when the mind is still, the beauty of the self is seen reflected in it There are two kinds of people in the world. Those who have seen Taj Mahal and love it and those who have not seen the Taj Mahal and love it Taj Mahal: A love poem is written in marble In front of Taj Mahal, I felt a nice sensation of breathing, freedom, and peace No words needed to tell about this beauty

OK In Praise of a Place A Letter from the Yaak Valley RICK BASS AUTUMN 2014 Photo: Lowry Bass Amillion acres of low elevation dense green forest in a magic seam between the Pacific Northwest’s fungal rot and the Rocky Mountains’ glamorous views of wildfire and glaciers: the Yaak Valley of northwestern Montana, no place else like it on earth. Often, I think I might be just about storied-out on the Yaak. I feel like I’ve done almost all of my remembering, finally, and have told – almost – all of the stories from the old days, telling them to the new folks who wander into this little green valley, beauty-struck. I’m not sure why I tell the stories – they just come out of me, as if from a little spring – and sometimes, doing so, I feel the faintest strand of something that might be a little like sadness, which is confusing, since the stories are good ones, anecdotes of great drama or plain beauty or at least singular notice. GET THE JOURNAL IN YOUR INBOX. Sign up for our monthly newsletter. Sign up The Yaak has gone 50 years without a single acre of designated wilderness, the story might begin. Or, a slightly different beginning: The Yaak is the wildest, most diverse valley in the West, home to grizzlies, wolverine, owls, eagles, ferns, otters. There are more stories about this place than there is time to tell them. It is a wellspring. It is me who falters, never this valley. Let me think of another way, a new way, to begin this story. When I think of why the Yaak matters, all the old reasons continue to wash past, more important now, I think, than they were when I first came to this valley, nearly 30 years ago. Eudora Welty wrote, “One place understood helps us understand all places better,” and I believe that strongly, in the Yaak. The question is not necessarily how beloved any one place is, but, in these times of flux, how rare, even unique. And in this regard, then, the Yaak is one of the most vital unprotected places I’ve seen. The fact that I inhabit it – and love it – becomes irrelevant, which I find a splendid confusion. The Yaak is as important to those who will never see it as it is to those few of us who have the privilege and responsibility of living here. The Yaak is important, especially, to artists, for its splendid duality. No one single perspective will adequately convey the Yaak. In the Yaak, as in art, a thing is often composed of its oppositions and contradictions as much as it is of its core element, or the element first and most easily seen. The Yaak is important as ecological refugia for the émigrés and exodus wrought by a burning West. And it’s just as important to our fragile, little souls. A place of refuge as all-else goes away.

India Gate, an important monument of the city, is a memorial built in commemoration of more than 80,000 Indian soldiers who were killed during World War I. The monument is an imposing 42 meters high arch and was designed by the famous architect Edwin Lutyens. India gate was earlier named All India War Memorial. The design of India gate is almost similar to its French counterpart war memorial, the Arc-de-Triomphe.💙

The red sandstone facade and panels with a variety of decorative designs, such as floral patterns, tell a lot about the former splendor of this tomb. There are chevron patterns in the nook shafts, wine-vases within sunk niches and geometrical floral designs gracing the piers between the arches. The chhatris have beautiful carved columns with hexagonal bases. The stone brackets occupy the spaces just below the chajja, while beautifully carved friezes are above it. And white marble is inlaid underneath the dome. The friezes of the chhaparkhats were originally covered with glazed tiles and have pyramidal roof. Traces of floral paintings can still be seen in the corners that tell about the former beauty of the tomb

Great place for outing with family and friends 👍A stunning archway standing as a tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country, India Gate is one of the landmarks of Delhi. Built with sandstone, this 42-m-high gate was the first of its kind in the national capital. The walls of the gateway have been inscribed with the names of 13,516 soldiers killed in the Northwestern Frontier in the Afghan war of 1919, besides 90,000 soldiers of the Indian Army who were martyred in World War I.

A great place I had visited a number of times to feel the pride of being an Indian. Today it was unfortunate to see police barricading everywhere. We could not go to India gate. A large crowd of visiters had to keep away in a ground. Visiting with family and children is a difficult situation as parking is not allowed for anyone nearby. India gate is presently a place cordoned off for general public.

Very good place in delhi. I love to be here.India Gate is a 138-foot (42-meter) war memorial in the heart of New Delhi, reminiscent of Paris’ Arc de Triomphe. Built in 1931 and designed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, designer of most of New Delhi, it’s a must-visit photo stop on a Delhi tour. The India Gate was built to commemorate Indian members of the British Indian Army killed during World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. In the 1970s, the eternal flame (Amar Jawan Jyoti) was added to remember Indians who died in the Indo-Pakistan War. Around 13,000 soldiers’ names are inscribed on the gate. The gate is popular among both local and international visitors. Usually visited on half- and full-day sightseeing tours of Delhi, it’s a particularly attractive place to take photos. It doesn’t take long to see the gate itself, so a visit here is best combined with a fuller sightseeing trip that may also call on the Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Humayun’s Tomb, Qutub Minar, and other site.

I still don't understand why there is no ticket to visit India gate. A mere minimum amout would improve the state of the place by 1000 times. It's beautiful in the mornings, it's still bearable by noons. But by the evening, the place is a mess. Every step is filled with filth and litter. I hope some policy is introduced to manage the lawns better.

India Gate is one of the best monuments in Delhi, I had a very good experience visiting and able to see it so closely, but It could have been better experience if it was allowed to see the India Gate from near, due to Covid19 and current ongoing renovation (Central-Vista Project), only VIP visitors (I see few tourists were taking pictures from India Gate far near than the general public) are allowed to visit ahead to barriers. Overall it was average experience visiting India Gate due to Covid19 restrictions.

The India Gate is located at the heart of India’s capital city, New Delhi.  About 2.3 km from the Rashtrapati Bhavan, it is located on the eastern extremity of the ceremonial boulevard, Rajpath. India Gate is a war memorial dedicated to honor the soldiers of the Undivided Indian Army who died during World War I between 1914 and 1921. War memorials are buildings, installations, statues or other edifices dedicated either to celebrate victory in war, or to pay tribute to those who died or were injured in war. Delhiites and tourists alike throng the India Gate Lawns surrounding the monument for a leisurely evening, enjoying the light show at the fountains along with snacking on street food. A National War Memorial to honor all armed forces members killed after 1947 is under construction at the ‘C’ Hexagon of India Gate.

India Gate is one of India’s most famous landmarks. I visited it a couple of times. Some locals told me that they were proud of their country seeing India Gate. I could never imagine myself having a similar feeling about the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin or the Eiffeltower in Paris yet I believe there is a strong connection. India Gate is very stunning.

Essay on India Gate Whenever someone visits Delhi, they never miss the India gate.

You can buy snacks in parking only otherwise it's not like earlier where you could see people everywhere selling snacks. India gate is war memorial place where you can see martyr's name on it but now they have built a new war memorial which quite beautiful with all the martyrs name. You can carry your own foods and snack to enjoy your time there. Well maintained to avoid more crowd and to make it clean and beautiful!
