We checked the review on Google and decided to go there. Our first visit was on Friday, they told us it was full for the rest of day so we got kicked out. In addition, the restaurant is closed during the weekend. So we went back on Monday at 12 sharp. They told us the kitchen would not open until 1 pm. Then we waited and walked around the old town and went back at 1:30. We were being shouted by the old woman in Spanish. She possibly thinks if she yelled at us with loud voice we could understand her Spanish. As you can tell by other people's bad review, regardless of the food, they have no spirit of service. They were so impolite to the customers. It's a miracle that they have such a high rating in Google and TripAdvisor, which made me wonder if they bought those review with money. Anyway, if you don't mind being yelled by a stranger, feel free to visit this restaurant. Lastly, there are plenty of better choices in Bilbao, don't just stuck on this one.

My favourite restaurant in Bilbao so far! We were lucky to get squeezed in without a booking . The owners are kind and patient with our lack of Spanish speaking ability, we showed them photos from Google reviews to order which worked a treat. The food was incredible and with such generous portions we skipped dinner today 😅.

This was a very fun experience in this quaint typical basquan restaurant. After great antxoas marinadas and salmorejo de bilbao we had the merluza and bakalao, both cooked very well. we enjoyed a bottle of Rioja white wine (cueva de lobos). we had the traditional cheese cake at the end. the atmosphere was super and the service great. we can highly recommend the place, but make sure that you reserve!

Outstanding. Authentic and home made cuisine. Unbelievable good value for money. That was the best fish I've ever had. The owner are extremely friendly. When they saw how quickly I ate the paella, the just came up with a second portion... A unique experience!

Visiting from Sydney Australia. We read the reviews and really wanted to try this place. Unfortunately we couldn’t make a reservation, but we walked in and the very lovely lady made space for us at the bar, they were so welcoming! The food was outstanding! Fresh, tasty, delicious and so filling. We left very happy. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. We highly recommend this place!!!

We enjoyed a lovely meal here today. The owners are so nice. It was a 2 person show and they were really hustling. They still had time to chat with guests and even take photos despite how busy they are. Very nice a friendly. The food is simply prepared and tasty. It’s like you’re eating in someone’s Basque kitchen. There are only 7 or 8 tables. A reservation is recommended.

Friendly, accomodating staff. They use fresh ingredients and prepare everything on spot. Very well located for a family walk through the riverside.

Their food are awesome and service are great. Even I don't speak their language, they try to recommend food to me and do their best to make me understand with some English words. So friendly.

Beware! There are plenty of better restaurants to try in Bilbao. Dont know why this place is so well rated. Owners were very rude to me and my girlfriend as soon as they saw we didnt speak spanish very well. The food was very average. Did not enjoy it at all.

Best place in town

I'm staying at the hotel next door for a couple of weeks, and go every day for coffee, and seeing the quality of the produce arriving fresh every morning, I also started going often for lunch. The owners are a couple of sweethearts, cooking and providing service from their hearts. Exceptional food, and honest prices. I keep coming back!

Little gem of a local family restaurant, fantastic food and cheap prices. Highly recommend.
