A good place with well served food. It was an interesting experience full of flavors. The staff explained every single dish with care and was very attentive to our requests. The only downsides were that we were a group of 12 and couldn’t all sit together. We had to split up in 2 on a table which wasn’t that close to the other one. Also it would be nice to have big bottles of sparkling water instead of small ones.

So I’ll have to be really honest here, the food was ok (had the tasting menu) but for me most dishes were a tad too salty. I was surprised this place was Michelin star, but I quickly realised that the Michelin only lasts one year (their star was from 2021). I’m used to a lot of asian cuisine so hopefully this acts as some basis of credibility but dishes were quite average to be brutally honest. I have had incredible food from pintxos bars or basque restaurants near here, and I’d recommend doing that (usually cost me €20-40 instead of going here for €60+). Dessert included in the course was too bland (it just tasted like cream) I felt like I fought my way through it. Staff are really lovely but just have to be honest with the food, especially for the price compared to other businesses here!

This place is a treat. We got the larger menu and it was absolutely fantastic. The food was innovative, different, and well executed. In addition, the service was 100% spot on. The flavors were well thought out and came together in interesting ways rarely seen outside of far more expensive restaurants. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Perfect fusion cuisine at the best but unpretentious level. Swift and attentive service. The rhythm of the service is at the right cadence. Full house hence to be booked at least 1 day in advance. The menu @ 48 is the right purchase with an incredible ratio quality/price. Small servings, expert use of spices and Asian ingredients. Elegant cozy exotic setting. Warmly recommend!!

Went here with my partner and they wouldn’t let him order the tasting menu unless I did too. Unfortunately I have dietary restrictions and can only eat certain dishes, whereas my husband was looking forward to tasting different dishes. As a result of this strange policy we were forced to pick dishes from the à la carte menu, and the experience was soured by the poor reception and service from the greeter. The à la carte dishes are small but two would be enough for one person, and the food is tasty. We were simply disappointed in the reception and communication hence only ordered the two dishes and left. In short, a restaurant experience is more than the food served and Kimtxu was sadly a disappointment in this regard.

Kimtxu is a basque-asian fusion restaurant that is not for people looking for standard or common dishes. They took some risks in their menu that won't be liked by everyone but that will be different for sure. In my opinion, the tuna tartar wasn't my favourite dish. You definitely need to try the vegetables wok (unexpectedly good) and the cheese pudding as a dessert. Also, one small recommendation for the restaurant and/or for the dines, the curry is maybe too spicy!

The food was fantastic. A delightful interplay between Asian techniques and recipes and local basque ingredients and dishes. The tuna tartare, nigiri croquettas, and pad Thai are not to be missed. Service was quick, but can be lacking in warmth and hospitality and felt a little judgmental at times. Nice ambiance. Overall, a great and unique experience. One not to be missed if you’re looking for something a little different in Bilbao.

I had the 56 euro tasting menu and thought it was a fun experience but only some of the food i thought was stellar. I really liked: the pickles and soup at the beginning, tuna tartar, duck wontons, strawberry dessert. The rest I thought the flavors were a bit off or too salty. However the ambiance was excellent and the staff was so nice and friendly. Wi-Fi available

Great take at asian basque fusion! Came here on date night and we really enjoyed the food! The flavors are more leaning to Basque then Asia but they came up with some great mixes! Must eat is the scallop and their wonton!

We’re tourists from Asia so we were indeed curious to find out what Asian-inspired tapas would be like. Favourites on the EUR42/pax menu are the eel & aubergine croquette, the skrei, and the dessert. The wontons were disappointing. Flavour was pretty flat. Also, the dishes with chili oil were barely even spicy for us. The onion ramen was on the salty side.

Fabulous fusion basque Asian! Definitely a must if you are a foodie! For starters we had the anchovies salad, eel and aubergine, scallops and the dumplings in Jamon soup, what a discovery! And for the mains we had the marmitako which is white tuna in a savory citrus sauce and the Iberian pork, just wow what flavors!

I’ll be frank: food here is pretty good, but it’s definitely, undeniably overpriced, and that’s the main reason why I give them 3 stars instead of 4. Is the food good quality? For sure. Staff were not the most helpful but they did overall fine. Food portions for the price are far too small, however tasty and well prepared. Restaurants don’t exist in a vacuum, and they can’t price their food pretending that no other establishments exist around every corner where one can eat similar quality food or just a tad below Kimtxu’s level, but paying easily one third less. I’m glad I tried this place, but I also see no reason to come back at these prices. I can eat similarly well and pay considerably less at many restaurants in Bilbao.

A creative fusión restaurant that has become a regular spot for us. Food is of high quality and different from the offerings of other close by places. The tasting menu is balanced and always finished with a beautiful desert. The staff are friendly and professional and the vibe is casual and easy. If you are looking for great unfussy food, try Kimtxu.

Excellent food, south-east Asian with a Basque influence. I had the tasting menu, great flavors and textures. Would love to come back

My favourite restaurant in Bilbao so far. Food is very good along with service and don't forget the dessert menu.

Stunning place. Food is a great mix of an Asian fusion cuisine with Basque ingredients and cooking styles. Each of the plates that came out were fantastic, great wine, lovely staff. Highly recommend

Amazing food. Everything we had was great: steak tartare and bonito tartare, secreto ibérico and dumplings. The only downside was the waiter who was not particularly knowledgeable of the dishes when we asked for info, maybe she was new and didn’t know them well.

Best meal during our 7 day trip in Basque region. Everything was excellent - banana wrapped fish, iberian pork and pad thai, scallops and dumplings. Pad thai may have been the winner, amazing flavor combinations. We depart tomorrow and will be going back for our final lunch!

Luxury Asian restaurant, if you watched the Chef's table, here will be surprised no less! The combination of tastes is excellent! We took a tasting menu of 7 dishes, and it is more than enough to understand what this place is! If I could give it 10 stars instead of 5, I would. I think this is the best Asian restaurant in Bilbao, I will definitely come back!

This place was such a great find. We went for the 7 course tasting menu which was around €38 plus I had a couple of local wines to accompany the courses. The staff all very knowledgeable and friendly. The food was superb and we spent our last night here and glad we did. Go!

👍👍 We stumbled upon this place, which is odd, because my husband is such a foodie and usually knows about every hot place. After getting off the funicular, we wandered into we saw this beautiful spot. Inside, we started researching it on our phone and saw the rave reviews--including one from Anthony...
