Restaurante La Cuina de Jardines

Restaurant

😠 Absolute terrible. They can't even fry fries. The fries were disgusting and not tasty. Steak was almost completely well done, while I wanted rare. Weird part is, they don't even ask how you want it to be cooked. This should be a sign to never order meat in such place. People often mention good, restaurant, nice, dishes,

Although nice inside, the place is under staffed, slow and inattentive. Waited outside and was ignored for several minutes. Once finally seated, again waited over 10 minutes to get a menu. Food was not good. Lamb chops were 90% bone and over salted. Baked cod was bearly edible because of the salt. Good place to give your heart a stroke. On top of it all its over priced. Cannot reccomend.

We walked in after spending the morning stroling in Bilbao. Waitress was super nice and their menu had combination of food options for all of us: fish, meat, paella, etc. The deserts were amazing and I particularly loved the coffee flan. Price matches the other restaurants in the street.

TL:DR - Decent place, nothing special. The restaurant only serves the daily menu, for 16 EUR with 2 dishes, bread, dessert, water and wine. It is a good offering with a variety of dishes to choose from, so you can find something that will please you. The good : the food is okay for the most part. The variety is good, and I like that they include the wine, water, bread and dessert in the whole thing. The restaurant looks good, the chairs are comfortable, it's a nice place, clean and well maintained. The bad : the worst thing about the restaurant is imo the lack of consistency between the dishes served. Some of them are good like the fish, and some of them are not as good like the steak. On top of that the portions are a bit too small imo. Some of them are bigger (pork knuckle) , and some of them are smaller (the steak). If they served 30% more potatoes/vegetables, it would solve the issue. (I have seen 1 kg of potatoes/peppers go for less than 1 EUR in some places, it's not gonna break the bank.) In my opinion, it would better to offer less options (atm they offer 14 different dishes total, maybe cut it down to 10), but make sure that all the options are equal in quality and quantity. The restaurant only has 1 waiter, and it gets crowded around 14h-15h so it is obvious that she is overwhelmed/overworked. This has as an effect that the wait times for food/ordering are higher than normal, and the waiter can get a bit stressed which you can feel when she talks to you. I wouldn't say that she's rude, but clearly stressed and rushing. Imo, if they hired 1 additional person to wait the tables it would make things better.

Comically rude service. The restaurant was empty when we arrived (red flag in retrospect for such a busy area) and we sat outside and ordered a bottle of wine and were there for around 30 minutes total. Decided not to eat dinner after checking the reviews and the menu. We were told to leave which was totally understandable but the manner in which the server stormed around was ridiculous.

Good food. Little bit more expensive. The atmosphere was calm but there were no people at all. Don't now why.

Decent eating, kind but not too attentive personnel. Not bad overall, but there are better places all around. A wasted opportunity...

We were here for 3 nights and had dinner at La China des Jardines for 2 of those. In the midst of the festival, it was calm, and the service was great - no waiting. The food and wine were excellent, and from what I saw on other diner’s tables, everything was good and beautifully prepared. There were a lot of places to eat in Casco Viejo, but I will come back here every time.

We had a lovely dinner of Pork Cheeks and Duck Confid. A beautiful shared salad started or meal and our dessert was chocolate mousse and puff pastry. Expertly served with a bottle of wine by our server, Idoja. She made our dinner special. I highly recommend this dining experience.

Very welcoming. I had a simple meal of fish and vegetables and both were cooked perfectly and delicious. I would definitely recommend as a good alternative to pintxos.

Went in without looking at the reviews, but we had a nice time. It's not a tapas bar, but the 3 course set menu was tasty, the service was good and the place had nice surroundings.
