What a meal. A truely remarkable and memorable experience. Here you get to taste some of the best dishes you will ever get to experience in your life. The menu and presentation is simple and humble. Just high quality stuff cooked perfectly well all on their famous grill. The menu changes depending on season and availability and it is a sure exciting thing to experience. I love caviar but I never had it better like in here. It is lightly salted and smoked so you get to taste the real thing at its best. The anchovies are in season. Not fishy just delightfully salted on top of tomato toast. You will never look at anchovies the same. The shrimp is the best I had in my life. You get in with your hands sucking on every morsel. Thats how good it was. The grilled turbot served family style was amazing and definitely memorable. The steak with its delicious yellow fat grilled on grape wood was probably the best I ever tasted in my life. Its not a melt in your mouth wagyu but the flavor is definitely unmatched. The peas. That’s something no one usually get excited about. Here its like little sugar caviars. They burst in your mouth with sweet fresh goodness. Again something simple but really well sourced and cooked. Here is a place that offers a true experience, delicious and unpretentious just honest good food in a really relaxed welcoming atmosphere.

My husband and I have been planning our honeymoon for almost a year now. We are foodies and did our research and wanted to dine here. Sent an e-mail for reservations back in May and no response. I sent another one in June and another in August. They should take the reservation section off their website! This way people dont waste their time trying to plan things around this meal. Huge disappointment.

We were there in June 2018 and only getting around to posting this now. At the time we went I think it was #10 but it’s floated around top 10 for several years now so we were excited to check it out for ourselves. Even before you set foot in the restaurant look around as it’s located in a quaint picturesque setting complimented by the smell of the smoke from the burning wood. You feel like you’re going to a cottage but with really good food! Dishes were unique and knowing how it’s cooked made it even more interesting. Obviously not cheap but I thought it was great value compared to other Michelin star restaurants we’ve been to. A memorable experience we still reminisce about. Hoping next time we go to Spain we can go again as you need to rent a car to get there since it’s a little out of the way.

One of the best restaurant in Spain (If you're able to get reservation) The "beef chop" is the best meat you ever have. Very good service

It was a privilege and incredible experience to visit this extraordinary restaurant. The food is the ultimate expression of simplicity meets the profound. This is the ultimate of dining cooking and culinarily experience. We were lucky enough to meet the chef and see the kitchen. The staff was wonderful and service excellent. A experience like no other.

Epic legendary place and it deserves all the press. This was every bit as good as the other 6 Michelin 3 star restaurants we visited on a epic food trip through Spain and Portugal. Amazing views, beautiful tiny little town and great food. I have had many conversations with fellow chefs and industry people and all of us have this as one of our top meals of our lives. No true foodie trip to Spain will be complete if you miss stopping here!!!

Like many of the 1 star reviews here, this is solely due to service. I had booked two dates months in advance but the restaurant never confirmed. I emailed them closer to the date asking for a confirmation but to no avail. Judging by the other reviews, it seems this happens quite often. In 2022 any restaurant can run a proper booking system to there is no excuse. If you want amazing meat, head to Casa Nicolas. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

The food at this place was OUT OF THIS WORLD! Four of us came here on a lovely fine afternoon, everything from the aperitifs to the main courses and desserts were impeccable. Wine pairing was great value for money! You totally have to do it! The reservation systems navigations are only for the ones who can survive a tough challenge and we're glad we got in. Definitely will be back again! Than you Etxebarri for a wonderful time in Spain!

It was a great luck that we got a table there. Yes, it is hard to get, but believe me it is worth it. The food, wine, service, ambience, everything… was just the best. We took a degustation set with wine paring. We enjoyed every meal!

Had a decent meal, after which the staff assured me they would refund the remaining balance of the deposit I paid if I dropped them an email. The restaurant has not been responding to my emails for 6 months now. I’m frankly shocked that a Michelin starred establishment would do something like this. Make sure to resolve any billing issues on the spot!

I would have loved to write a stellar review of your amazing restaurant Asador but alas was not one of the 'chosen ones'. I have given this restaurant a one star based solely on the non existent customer service. I tried booking on numerous occasions for numerous dates hoping to be as flexible as possible however, I never received as much as an email advising me that they were fully booked. I understand its a small family run business with limited seating but the least I would expect from a restaurant of this stature is a simple booking engine informing customers the booking availabilities. Yet what I find interesting is that the restaurant seems to only welcome the so called 'foodies' and food bloggers hmmmm. I guess my euros are worth less at your restaurant! shame....

Truly Amazing experience starting with the drive from Bilbao city centre to this little gem in the mountains. Perfect atmosphere, top wines and great service. We were allowed to have a look in the kitchen after the chef had left. Its simplicity makes you wonder how it is possible to create such divine dishes!

Securing a reservation for this restaurant proved to be a challenge, with the process being frustratingly difficult. Nonetheless, with a touch of magic (thanks to diligent research), we managed to secure a spot the night before (!) our visit. The reservation process elevated our expectations significantly, making it difficult for reality to fully measure up. Yes, the experience was memorable - from the gorgeous view on the terrace for the aperitif, to the baby squids and the many desserts we were served. But, was it worth all the trouble? Perhaps our experience would have been better if we had opted for the wine pairing. While the bottle we were advised initially piqued our interest, it quickly lost its allure and failed to keep us engaged throughout the meal.

This is one of the best trstaurants in the world and absolutely deserve it. The food is heaven, wine choice is like... also heaven, service is warm and you feel very welcome, family style even if you are in the iconic place. Chef is amazing, the steak is one of the best (or might be actually the best) i tried. Of cource hard to get a table. But really worse it! The setting itself is beautiful, mountains and you can see charming horses through the window. Love ❤️

We arrived quite late and everything we ate seemed to taste of petrol! It was so disgusting we could only eat the bread and left nearly €400 out of pocket. Worst experience ever in a restaurant, service was not friendly either, everything took forever to arrive, over an hour waiting for a salad, (which tasted like petrol too). We didn’t complain about anything - I now wish we had. Several of our group were locals and they could not eat anything either. Never going back. Shame I have to give it one star

An incredible experience! We were grateful to have the opportunity to indulge in this style of preparation! All the dishes were prepared very delicately. The building is located in a beautiful countryside overlooking rolling hills!!

Asador Etxebarri was the only place where my wife wanted to gather our family to celebrate her X0's birthday. It was not easy to book a table for a family of five, which made me very proud that I was able to deliver it. Flying from different U.S cities, through all the travel horrors, we gathered there on June 23, 2022, for what turned out to be once-in-a-life-time experience. We all agree that this was one of the five best restaurants each of us have ever been to. Our expectations were sky-high, but the experience exceeded the expectations.

Food, wine, service, setting; all top level. But should it be this hard to get in? No. It’s no fault of theirs, you can thank the global hype machine Worlds 50 Best for this nonsense. If you can’t get a reservation here, be reassured that there are many other restaurants in Basque Country that serve top product with very good cooking and wine selection.

There is not enough stars on this scale to rate Etxtebarri. It’s truly unique and unforgettable experience. Everything is perfect. The food has so much taste! In theory everything here is simple - prawns, beef chop, Red Sea bream. In reality, every produce is first carefully selected and the prepared in a master way. Char grill aroma adds to the flavors. Wines are also great and the sommelier’s advice very spot on. It’s so hard to make a reservation here and no wonder. Everyone wants to eat here and experience it. Stunning.

Consider yourself blessed if you can score a reservation at this grilling Shrine. One of the best restaurants in the whole world

If you could not tell this restaurant served you the best cooked food to bring out the finest, the freshest and the tastiest ingredients of the world, then this restaurant is not for you. After you taste the homemade chorizo, you can forget all the others. Like the gambas from Palomo, served with nothing else. The most succulent and delicious. Same for the seasonal baby eels. The wagyu like grilled steak. Even for simple dishes like tomatoes, small peas, the essence was unmatched. On and on. Besides the best Spanish wine, you would find incredible grand cru quality French wine at a fraction of the restaurant prices in France.

Probably one of the best meals of my life. If you’re looking for super exotic combinations of food and instagram-worry presentations, this isn’t the place for you. It’s simple food made with the best produce, cooked to perfection. All in a beautiful mountain setting.

The best I’ve been to in Spain. Victor is a genius. The flavours and dating nature of his dishes mean nothing is expected but an experience to remember. Mohamed, the Sommelier and front-of-house manager, was a great host.
