A good hotel .In excellent location near the old town .Reasonably clean rooms but the sound insulation not good.

Great little hotel. Excellent location, clean, easy to find. The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking not on site, but not too far away. Highly recommend. If you are a light sleeper be sure to bring ear plugs. The walls are thin.

Amazing place right in the city center, the old part next to the Cathedral. Quire relax and smooth place. Rooms are comfortable and pretty calmed. The staff Highlander and Patricia really nice and helpful people, Highlander saved my people providing me with bandits after sharp cut in my finder. Highly recommended

Very basic rooms with the feel of a hostel. Clean and comfortable, with some expected noise from the street (if you're on street side) and hallways. Great location, in the heart of it all.

The hotel is centrally located and clean, but at check-in we were told that our dog could not be left alone in the room. This is not stated anywhere in the terms and conditions and no flexibility or help was offered by the reception. The result was that we were unable to dine in restaurants, visit museums or ride in busses. We will not come back.

Attention to detail boutique hostel. Spotless and Central . The floors creek a lot so don't be a light sleeper. But would recommend 100 percent. Ps....a lift to 3rd floor great.

We stayed at this place through Camino Ways with whom we also booked breakfast. For this we had to go to a nearby café. The café is lovely, but they do not provide anything gluten free. As this is essential for me as I have coeliac's, this was a real downer. Otherwise, the hotel was a good place to stay. Perfect location with friendly, helpful staff.

One of the best value hotels I've ever stayed in. Location was right in the middle of the old town, the beds were so comfortable, and the common area was a huge plus. All of this for an affordable price too.

Nice room and staff. The location is in the old part of Bilbao, very beautiful and close to the river. Do not drive in the old part of Bilbao or you will get a ticket, we made that mistake. The beds were so comfortable and I slept so well. House cleaning was very nice and kind. Great price and good value.

My second visit in 18 months to Bilbao prompted my second stay at Casual Gurea - now a true home-away-from-home in this very special place. The unbeatable location - in the Old Town but not far away from the modern Bilbao, minutes away from bustling bars and best restaurants but still quiet and restful, with great shops all around and an even greater staff to help one get around - makes this hotel one I want to keep coming back to. Profound thanks to everyone who made this second stay here a very happy one!

The location in Old City made for a wonderful 2 night visit in Bilbao! The staff very, very helpful with my many questions and zero Spanish. The room is small, and basic but clean & comfortable. Lucky for us we had warm weather in October but with no A/C in the room, it was a bit stuffy. Room did have a quiet & cooling floor fan. The small ceiling fan needed a deep cleaning thus we couldn’t use it without dust flying. A budget friendly option in a stellar location that I would recommend!

Stayed here twice at widely varying prices. Great deal when it was under $100, less so when it was over. Reception was very accommodating and could not have been more helpful. Location is perfect. Rooms are small but scrupulously clean. I loved the fan above the bed; it was virtually silent and really kept the room comfortable - which was important because the street noise was very loud when you opened the window! I would gladly stay here again (if the price was right).

Patricia on reception deserves an award!! Thank you for being so welcoming and for helping make our stay so enjoyable. We were only staying one night, but we'll definitely return. There is no air con in the room, but the ceiling fan was pretty good. The fridge in the communal kitchen was a great plus, too. Very dog friendly!

What a great stay we had at Casual Gurea. Very handy to everything, we enjoyed walking up to the city centre and art galleries from here. We found it peaceful despite being in the heart of the old quarter. Well kept and clean, and wonderful staff. The shared lounge room an added bonus. Thank you

We thought our experience at Casual Gurea was outstanding—a great value for the price. The location was perfect—right in the heart of the Casco Viejo—and access to the hostal was easy to manage. The room was sparkling clean, the shower was great and the bed was especially comfortable. Best of all, the ceiling light/fan combination created great ventilation in our room. We loved the staff who checked us in, gave us a map with detailed information and was generally incredibly helpful and responsive prior to our arrival. All things considered, we had a fantastic time in Bilbao thanks to our accommodations at Casual Gurea.

Speaking of bad hotel rooms, this place takes the cake. Listed as a 2* hotel, this establishment is really smelly little hostel. Some of the rooms have private bathrooms, but they are utilitarian at best. There is minimal signage in the building, the rooms are located on the 3rd floor. We didn't stay long. One quick look at the room, the odor was overwhelming. The windows offer no relief from the heat, they are screwed shut. They do bring in a wet dog aroma from the dirty Astro turf on the enclosed balconette. There is no Air Conditioning. There also was not an attendant at the desk when we walked back out. Just a little sign saying when the desk staff would be back. They share staffing with another location. (Something I do not believe is allowed in 2* lodging BTW). I wouldn't stay here on a bet. F- and $170 wasted. I was rather surprised given that I understand this is a recommended stay by the Rick Steves team.

Fantastic location and functional room, lovely staff, however, they had used a very strong cleaner when preparing the room which left an overpowering lemon smell. Opening the windows for a couple of hours sorted it out though. The hotel was well worth the charge.

Staff are wonderful, location perfect but the rooms are very stuffy. No air-conditioning but even ventilation would be good.

Lovely hotel in the center of the old town. Nothing fancy, but very clean and new. The staff was wonderful, they went out their way to help us get ice for a strained ankle and a taxi at the last minute. A place to come back.

Top location in the old city, great staff. Room was a bit "old", the window was on the building court, but all was perfectly clean and functioning.

Nice clean room but the place is one floor in a block in the old town so not really a hotel to speak of. Nonetheless a pleasant place to stay

Lovely room right in the middle of everything, friendly, clean and cheap

The staff is very friendly, the location perfect in the old town, and the rooms are very clean and good. Only downside is the climate inside the rooms, for which there are fans but no airco, and in some rooms the ventilated cooking air from the restaurants prevents one from opening the windows in the evening.

Very nice stay. Central location in old town Bilbao. Nice personel. Clean and comfortable room 303 with private bathroom. I would ony add little fridge to the room. The only small minus was the noise from the neighbours' windows at the interior of building.

NO air conditioning NO ceiling fan. Room was super noisy and tiny, yet clean. The hotel is very far from the parking they recommend and a little deep into car-less old town so be ready to wheel your luggage about 300meters. Once there, they are in the 3rd floor of what looks like an apartment building, not a hotel. Concierge is NOT 24hrs so if u have a problem or get locked outside the hotel you are on your own. The positives are that the rooms were clean, the staff was okay and location was great. Yet, we ended up not staying mostly due to the hot wether and they didn’t return our money, which fine I can understand. Honestly, skip this place though. That same night we found a very Nearby hotel (like 2min walk) (name starts with Petit) that for the SAME price offered air conditioning, 24hr concierge, breakfast, was quieter, was closer to the parking and actually felt like a hotel.

Quite simply in every way simply very good. Super clean and tidy staff helpful. Only irksome point towel rack out of reach....for me and, no laundry. Very good location Near old town

I got myself cut in the neck while showering with the shower head. All rhe noise in the hall and reception comes straight into the room plus the noise outside. The light ib the hallway comes into the room from the gaps of the door. And the red light of the smoke detector all night bliping.

No AC but didn't mind since we were only staying one night but it was a toasty evening.

The best hotel to stay in Bilbao! There is anything I didn't like it about Casual Gurea. It's close to every touristic place you wanna visit including bars, restaurants, transportation LIFE!, the room was super comfy and clean. and most importantly the staff. They were really helpful, kind and caring for every step of my trip. I would definitely recommend it and will definetly stay again.

Perfect location in the old city, top floor, basic hotel rooms, probably was a hostel previously, small room, comfortable king size bed for us, and tiny but working bathroom/shower area. All for a great price. WiFi worked well. Excellent staff.
