Anyone giving more than 3 stars to this hotel is bought. AC is not working in winter, very uncomfortable and hard beds, bathroom was smelling cigarettes, also the elevator is making you guess if you will make it? (Some one should really check that!) The reception employees were nice and helpful.

I I sit here at 06-32 eating breakfast I feel compelled to congratulate the hotel and its staff on a great service they give to their guests. From a simple check in process to a lovely room which is well heated(it’s -1 outside) to the comfortable bed. When you awake there is a lovely breakfast area packed with many delights to get your day off to the right start. The only downside and it wasn’t for me as I’d already eaten in the lack of on site restaurant in the evening but that’s easily rectified with a 5 minute drive to a little town with restaurants. I would definitely recommend staying here and I look forward to again. Thank you.

The hotel is in a great location if you're using the Bilbao airport. The shuttles back and forth between the hotel and airport are frequent and a short drive (5 minutes). The drivers are good and courteous. From the outside the hotel looks great. The lobby and breakfast/lounge areas are very nice. The breakfast provided is very good. There are lots of food choices and plenty of quality food is provided. The problem area for this hotel is the rooms. The room we were assigned was small, old, and dingy, generally it was a disgraceful room to offer a customer, especially given the price charged. The room was run down, outdated, and shabby, almost greasy. The bathroom was grimy. The bathtub/shower was so narrow, you could barely stand facing the shower head. The shower head was so low, you had to crouch to have the water hit your body. If you tried to raise the shower head, the bathroom filled with water. It was a warm day for November in Bilbao (23C), and the room was like a sauna, even with the AC "on." (I assumed the AC had been turned off for the season.) The only time I spent in the room was to sleep and shower; I was sitting downstairs either in the lobby or outside at all other times I could. Generally, when running a hotel, it's likely not a good sign when the customer doesn't ever want to be in the room. I'm not sure if the hotel was recently renovated and some of the rooms were not, or if all the money spent building the hotel was spent on the lobby and the outside look of the hotel. Regardless, it was a terrible experience.

Been an IHG member for many years, formed the impression that HI expresses were pretty reliable, reasonable value etc. Bilbao though failed on most levels. Check in, not great, took what seemed an unreasonable amount of time. Was a warm day in April, however the reception lady cheerfully informed me that the air con was not working but that I could open the window instead. Great. Get to the third floor, it must have been 30 degress plus in the hall way and the bedroom was not much cooler, the window did indeed open, somewhat, just enough to allow the noise of the busy road outside fully in. To be fair, even when shut the window didnt do a good job of blocking out the road noise. This then topped off by the worst sound proofing I have ever encountered in a hotel, i could hear my neighbours talking snoring plus extras we wont go into. This for €120....seriously. I stayed in IBIS budgets for a third of the price that are better. Avoid!

The hotel is convenient if you have a flight to catch next day as its 5 min from the airport. Room size was on the smaller size for a family room, the room was extremely hot and the Aircon didn't work so only when in the middle of the night we decided to open the window we were able to sleep...The windows were not soundproof, we were able to hear people talking outside and also planes (expected) which wasn't too bad as there are no flights in the night. Breakfast was included but even thought they had a some variety it wasn't too great, coffee and the juices didn't taste great. I don't think we will go back there.

Great location. Very nice staff at reception and having an inside restaurant is very good. The fish dish was delicious! But the room was so bad: smelly bathroom, old carpet stained, no central control of lights and a very very hard bed!!! No extra cover despite the cold in the room in end of November. I did not sleep well at all, I think the bed was broken and then fixed... Hard like wood on one side. My back still hurts... Very old decoration, not a good memory for a good night sleep. I do not recommend if you don't like hard beds

Clean, very helpful reception girl, great hospitality. Like that they had Dove soap and shampoo. Very fluffy towels. 4 stars only be your AC wasn't working.

Nice convenient Holiday Inn next to the Bilbao Airport. Clean comfortable rooms, comfortable bed, but a little pricey for the region. Only issue I had was the shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel was not clearly marked with Holiday Inn and was labeled okmobility. I waited for an hour before I finally figured it out after calling the hotel twice. The hotel staff could have told the driver to look for me but they didn’t and the bus dropped people off and immediately took off.

this was my 1st stay in a holiday inn express or otherwise and what a breath of fresh air compared to the 2 luxury hotels I had stayed in while travelling in the Basque Country. The young lady on reception (Elisa) was fantastic and went out of her way to help me especially when I failed to master the vending machine. The other gentleman on reception/bar was also great. The room was spacious, nice view but most of all places to put stuff and hooks to hang stuff. Exceptional clean. Kettle, desk, chair in fact everything you need when staying in a hotel. closeness to the airport is good with a free shuttle bus every half hour. (bus driver was also excellent). Free breakfast with good selection. I did not eat in the restaurant. Very highly recommended.

Miguel was extremely kind and helpful and he went definitely further then would have to, to make our stay possible and cosy in the middle of the night. Thanks a lot. Again! :) We stayed in a "family room" (3 single beds) with 2 little kids. Everything was super clean, easy, even the cleaning staff was very kind and polite, breakfast amazing.. Thank you.

Chose the hotel as it’s close to the airport and the fact that they provide a free shuttle at 5.30 was a great help. The hotel was under renovation when I came, so the lobby was mainly construction work and not guests-friendly as you have to sit outdoors to wait for a taxi, etc. The restaurant for breakfast was so small and therefore tight with many guests. The room was clean, although improvement in some areas such as carpet & bathroom is needed. The price is not that cheap either, so should be better.

The place was fine. The location is not great, however it is close to the airport. Check in was at 2, got there and had to wait for our room to be ready 2:30. I guess not a huge deal but after a long day of traveling it was not the best experience. The hotel is very busy and noisy, which is not their fault, but I wouldn't book here again. Kids yelling and screening at 11:30am.

Very mediocre hotel. Breakfast is very limited (not even scrambled eggs are offered). Some of the staff members appear to find hotel guests an unwelcome interruption of their daily operations. Do not use the vending machines in the Lobby. They charge more than is indicated and do not supply the product. Hotel staff takes no responsibility in correcting the situation. This hotel really was one of the worst experiences I ever had with an IHG group hotel.

This hotel is near to the airport, good for those visiting nearby area. Is clean and quiet. However is far from city and not suitable for tourists. There are no F&B nearby, only restaurant is next door to the hotel. The plus point is that the hotel do provide free shuttle service to & from the airport. There is a direct bus service to city.

Great room, service, and breakfast - but getting to and from the hotel was not pleasant. There's no pedestrian route from the airport to the hotel. Our flight arrived late, about 45 minutes after the shuttle had finished, there were no Ubers, and we didn't see any taxis to out knowledge. We called a teletaxi service and were told that there were no taxis available. The concierge we called was not helpful either, didn't answer the first two times I rang, and then didn't tell us how to hail a taxi when someone finally answered. We ended up walking along the shoulder of the highway with our heavy luggage, which is not legal, not safe, and not recommended. However, when we arrived there the concierge was very helpful and sympathetic and scheduled a taxi for the following morning immediately. We were glad to receive the hospitality, though it felt backhanded after we found out afterward that the fare was 40€ for a 15km trip to the Intermodal. It felt like the concierge had just called one of his buddies to get in on some tourist money. I trusted the concierge, and then my trust in him was broken. Just make sure to do your due diligence on getting to and from this hotel.

We had to cancel the reservation at the last minute because the our airline caused us to miss our connection to Bilbao and they couldn’t get us there til the next day. I requested a refund because it was out of our control and got no response. One star for prioritizing profit over compassion. Although we won’t we back to Bilbao, we will remember this and avoid ever booking holiday inns in North America.

No mobile phone reception and no working wifi. I stayed here for two nights and kept struggling with connecting to internet. There is almost no carrier coverage and wifi does not work although it appears to be connected. I struggled ordering uber and using google maps. Hotel is located 4 mins drive from the airport. Note that taxi or uber will not accept this ride as it is too short for them. There is a free hotel shuttle bus going every 45 mins after a full hour from the departures level of the BIO airport. Uber to the city is around 20 euro, but during higher demand time it goes up to €70. It is only a 17 mins ride, so easily becomes overpriced. Rooms are pretty standard for Holiday inn express, however the level of maintenance and cleanness here is way below IHG standard. My room bathroom was full of black mold - see pictures. Room has no safe box. Air condition does not cool below 22C and blows an old smelling dusty air so you are better of opening a window.

Super clean, great breakfast and location. Added bonus airport shuttle. Staff really friendly and helpful. Only niggle is the noisy gluggy sink but once it had finished it was quiet. Could do with new windows but wasnt too bisy on the roads but could here the cars.

People only book these airport hotels for early morning or late evening flights, yet the shuttle was fully booked by the time we arrived at the hotel. Maybe just run the shuttle more often when 4 required and less often when they are not, IE mid afternoon flights? Especially as it is a 5 minute drive, no reason for the shuttles to be 30 minutes apart. Also the room was terribly dusty, I have asthma and could barely breath, they really need a proper deep clean

Definitely an attractive hotel in a great location. It’s unfair of me to criticize them for construction, but it affected check-in and breakfast so I’d say that it’ll be a better hotel in a few months. What also ought to change is some way to get food and a drink when checking in at night. Never have I needed a mini-bar more than after the six hour train (and taxi) ride that got me to the hotel.

The proximity of the hotel to the airport is great. Be prepared to spend a bit on taxis if you want to explore Bilbao itself. Was not very impressed with the room, however. Would have been nice to have at least one television channel in English. The carpet in the room was in desperate need of replacing as it was dirty looking and had a rather large wine stain.

Close to the airport but it's the only good point. Room are small and hot, A/C is not working. Service is horrible ! looks like people are forced to work here. The food of Urbe restaurant is low quality and overpriced. The shuttle is welcome but keep in mind you can't book it in advance so if your flight land late you may not be able to have a seat at the hour wanted. 1st come, 1st served ! The shuttle also leave at fixed hour but don't expect them to tell you it's here even if you're waiting in the hall with your bags, but no worries they'll kindly transport you between hour while asking for cash (40€ for a 4min ride).

Great location in relation to airport. They have a shuttle that will drop you off or pick you up. The restaurant that is at the hotel is good. Hotel carpet on our floor needs to be replaced due to spots all over. Great place to stay particularly if you have an early flight.

I reached at around 11:00pm at Bilbao airport from India and Hotel shuttle was not available. They say it is till 10:45pm.only. it's useless when they should already know what flight comes last at the airport. Also breakfast was not upto the mark and staff had no solution to any problem. Somehow managed one night and did not talk much as i had to check out the next morning for my business. I paid 122 Euro for one night. Being near the airport they are getting the business but they need serious improvement in their hospitality and client management. I rate them 6/10. Didn't feel like clicking any picture as i was upset. So sorry for my feedback without picture.

I did not have a good experience. The lift was not working. The ground floor was a work site with no alternate provision to avoid service quality disruption. Poor quality breakfast. Felt like being in a canteen.

The staff was exceptionally helpful with accommodating the logistics of our 1 night stay during our vacation which included baggage storage, airport shuttle, early check in etc. they even offered us breakfast when we arrived and asked for a last minute early check in, we were pleasantly surprised by this after having flown through the night. Highly recommend becoming a member of the chain, free of charge.

5 minute drive from Bilbao airport. The hotel's free airport shuttle runs from 5:20 in the morning. Our room was very clean and nicely finished including a hot water boiler. The included breakfast was quite good and was available from 5:00 in the morning. If you have an early flight out of Bilbao, this is the place for you.

Good location, if you want to be close to the airport. Ok breakfast (starting at 5 am). Friendly staff. Check in took more than an hour (there was a group of tourists before us). Cleanness...there was a long hair on the "clean" towell and all the towls felt like half-washed.

Very warm rooms, air con had one setting, hot or nothing. Otherwise clean and comfortable. Basic breakfast early morning as had an early flight to catch. Convenient shuttle bus ti the airport.

Booked and paid for a queen room and was given a room with 3 single beds. The shower head didn’t stay up properly and was fairly weak water pressure. Very basic breakfast. Check in took about 15 minutes even when all details had been filled in at booking stage - this meant there was a long queue for people who don’t arrive first. The only positive is the free airport shuttle.

Hotel was reasonably comfortable. The rooms above the ground floor patio are quite noisy, as people gather there and smoke late into the night. Breakfast was very good - had pastries, yogurt, deli meats/cheese, etc. Staff friendly. Check-in times seemed to be very long, as it is a busy hotel. Elevators need to be leveled/calibrated. One leaves quite a step to get in/out. Overall, a great stay.

Good location for the airport and the free shuttle bus is very convenient. My only issue are that the beds are very firm. Possibly because I'm used to a softer mattress but it wasn't a particularly comfortable sleep. Aside from that I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

The shuttle service really is unbeatable if you want the convenience of being close to the airport. The earliest shuttle was at 5:45am and runs every thirty minutes I believe. The only reason why I give it a 4/5 was that the air conditioner didn't work in the room when I was there. It consistently blew hot air no matter the setting on the monitor.

I am writing the review here as I wasn't offered through the website I made the booking with. That alone, right off the bat, is not very promising. Good things first, very convenient location and friendly staff. The bad bits are more though, unfortunately. Paper thin walls, I went with my daughter who's an older child and hence very quiet. They put us in a corner of the hotel full of families with little children and it was really hard to get a good night sleep or even watch TV. I requested to change the room but it was fully booked with some cycling event. Absolute nightmare. We managed to get a better sleep during last 2 nights. Although early spring, it was quite warm and AC wasn't working, as other guest mentioned in a previous review. Breakfast was appalling, compared to what you use to get generally at other Holiday Inns', all in the name of safety due to the beer bug. Seems to be the excuse nowadays to be mediocre and inconsiderate. I don't recommend going to this hotel unless you really need to be close to the airport. I travel to this town frequently and there are better options close by that will arrange transportation to the airport for free if needed be. I've been in lots of Holiday Inn' hotels and this is by far the worst of them that doesn't live to the promise that I would expect from this chain of hotels.
