What a great and innovative idea to rent a box to sleep in. Everything feels comfy and futuristic. You have your own box to sleep in with everything you need: lockers, power outlet, various lights, USB connections and a small TV. There are toilets, showers and a small community area. Beds are clean and find too sleep in. Staff is friendly and helpful. One major drawback for me are the lights in the locker room and shower areas. My god, I had to constrain myself not to puke! You can see and feel the flickering of the low frequency and it makes you sick, more so when you or anything moves. PLEASE (!) fix those lights! Use LED drivers with a higher frequency or better lights. As of now, they are horrible! (-1 ⭐) Another drawback is the fact, that the capsules are closed by a sliding door with a sound dampening capability of a sheet of paper. Paired with the blue light that you can see from the outside and from every button if the inside, makes sleeping hard. (-1 ⭐) If you need a place to sleep with nice and friendly staff, you can go there, but don't expect to be rested well.

If you are young and don’t mind sharing a room with many people, then this comment isn’t for you. When compared with hostel sharing experience with at least 8 people, this is amazing. It is futuristic and all but not very convenient. You need to change in one room and leave your stuff before entering a sleeping room. In the shower you shouldn’t shave 😂 cause of the filter they say. I didn’t need to but think that it is easy to remove it and clean it. There is a bin in the shower room. The biggest issue I had was that I could hear the motor of the AC non stop. I felt like I was in a bus or a helicopter. Also, the whole night people would come and go and the blue light would turn on but also make a clicking sound. I found it annoying but I am sure many didn’t mind. Second thing is the isolation in the capsule. It is badly isolated. The door is a cheap version of a sliding plastic door so light and noise still enter through the gaps. Also, I could see the light of a person below me cause where the bed is, there are some gaps as well 😂🥴 Overall, I had almost no sleep. I like the concept but it wasn’t for me.

First of all, if you've never been to a pod hostel this might be okay for a night. The experience was "futuristic" in a sense that the aesthetic was like being inside a spaceship and I liked that a lot. The service for us at least was very good and the reception workers deserve a big thanks! But then to the overwhelming negatives. 1. Cleanliness Some of the hostel looked like it was cleaned last when it was opened. The male showers ventilation was blocked with DUST! When you combine that with moisture you get black mold on the walls. The toilets also looked very dirty and the "toilet brush" was also growing mold. Common kitchen's sinks also looked seriously alarming, the appliances also. I wouldn't cook here and my girlfriend can testify that I'm not the cleanest of people. Oh did I mention the dust, yeah it wasn't only the showers, the locker room and pods also were in a dire need of dusting. 2. Air quality Due to the factors mentioned above the air quality was very musky. When you add to that the fact that you can't dry your towels anywhere you get this stuffy feeling the entire time when inside. The second day we were there it rained so all of the quests wet clothes were adding to the problem. The AC was turned off during the days and blasted at full during the night in the common spaces. So that I, a Finnish person, got a cold. There is no air-conditioning inside of the pods. It's just a fan like in a car blowing this cows breath at you. Not to mention the fan was also dusty (hopefully not a surprise at this point). It resulted in this very fun game of tug and release of the duvet with my girlfriend where neither of us slept very well. 3. The pods and the lockers Just to emphasize this: YOU CAN'T LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE PODS. The pods can't be locked from the outside. You need to leave everything in the lockers provided. That was a major inconvenience. The controls in the pod are clunky, and I would prepare for them not to work. The lockers are dirty. The backboard was rotting in our and everyone else's lockers. The positive thing about them was that you could get an extra one if you have too much luggage. To sum this all up. For one night this would have been a fun experience. If you have asthma it's a fun survival experience of how much medication you can withstand. I just now asked my girlfriend how much we paid and 189€ for two nights is a ridiculously overpriced and I would have been a lot more harsh if I'd known. With that price you can go somewhere that isn't covered in dust and mold. EDIT: Girlfriends notes: We got 3 access cards. One of which opened the front door and did nothing else, second opened the main lockers and powered the pod and third that opened the extra locker. It was a very annoying game of pokemon trading cards because if you wanted something from the main locker the other one had to wait in the dark.

Reasonably priced capsules for those who don't spend a lot of time in their hotel rooms. The capsules are actually spacious enough to sleep 2 persons comfortably even though it is meant for 1 person. Each capsule is equipped with a smoke detector, a fire extinguisher, ventilation inlets, a mirror, a TV and reading lights. These are all operated by the electronic card which has to be slotted in before the various gadgets can be turned on. For privacy & safety, the collapsible door can be locked from the inside. No smoking, eating, noise in the capsules. There is a wall safe which I didn't use and I noticed that the positioning of the safe is a little off as the top of the mattress blocks the bottom of the safe by a few inches. Shoes can be placed under the capsules and storage lockers are available for luggage which is also operated by the same electronic card. There are separate wc's and shower cubicles for men & women. The colour scheme is white, the furnishings at the reception, dinning & sitting areas are angular and along with the electronic cards needed to access the sleeping capsules & entry into the hotel, gives the whole palce a very futuristic feel. The place is clean & well maintained.

It looks good, it's clean, staff are nice but the reality is that it's quite uncomfortable. If you want to change your clothes you need to go to the bathroom. You cannot take anything with you in the capsule. The charger was not working that well and at night when we wanted to sleep you could hear other people cough or watch YouTube. I wouldn't come back but for some people it may do the job.

Really cool design idea (spaceship sleeping capsules). Very close to San Mamés and the new bus station. A bit far from everything else. Was also quite hot in the sleeping capsule as there is not internal ventilation - the room itself was ventilated very nicely. It can get quite noisy as the beds are made out of thick plastic and it can move around when you move around. It was quite clean (beds are very clean) when we arrived. The TV with Amazon prime and Netflix was very appreciated

The place is generally ok, the service was polite and helpful. Few downsides however, like rather poor air circulation inside my capsule, one of the two aux sockets damaged, not particularly clean bathrooms. On the other hand it's quite close to the city center and still you have the free parking zone reachable within a 15 minute walk. Not bad, but would require some refurbishment to get 4 or 5/5.

Very cool experience/concept...comfy clean beds and towels. We liked the emphasis on the sleeping pod area being a quiet zone, and we slept really well. The whole place felt like it could use a bit of a thorough cleaning and a fresh coat of paint...the lockers smelled very musty/moldy, More showers/toilets would be handy.

It's ok. For sleeping one night is ok. I think the receptionist approach to the experience is really aligned with the topic, metalic voice, not understanding interactive phrases and assuming standardized clients. The charger in the room does not work, it makes rear sounds if you try it, so I could not charge any of my devices. If you have to wake up early I suggest another place, since according to the receptionist alarms are not allowed. The room was clean, however. In average for one night is ok, but not a experience.

Honestly it wasn’t too bad. Don’t expect luxury. I needed to stay here for a night until I could catch the next bus out of town the following morning. It got the job done, and I was so safe and snug in my capsule. My capsule was clean, towel and cover were provided. The bathrooms are super basic and not the cleanest, but doable. It was super quiet, too. The receptionist was probably the nicest person I’ve met in a while so I appreciated that, and they let me check in late. Replied super quick to my email too. I would stay here again, if I had a quick trip to Bilbao. Would I do like 3+ days or over a week? Probably not!

It seems cool at first but as soon as you hear SNORING from another capsule you realise its just like any other dormitory but with a cyber gimmick. The capsules are NOT soundproof!

I booked it for one night to have a japanese experience. The staff was friendly and everything organized. I liked the cabin but the matras had seen too many backs and the walls in the shower were stained. Overall I liked it.

Very stylish and convenient place for several nights. Even though it is a hostel, you still have your own space in a capsule. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Price is quiet cheap and is justified.

Really good experience, totally different concept sleeping in capsules. However, the place needs a whole better cleaning system, a more thorough one, as the hygiene could be better. Also new lockers would be great as they smelled old and dirty. Also hangers outside the capsule for the towels as it is kind of uncomfortable keeping them inside the capsule.

Very clean and quiet but too bas one cannot lock his capsule trop the outsider, as the lockers are quite small. The staff cas very sweet as well

Brilliantly located hostel with private and high-tech shared dormitory bunks. Each capsule / bunk has its own lighting, power sockets and TV! Feels like sleeping in a Star Wars space cruiser.

Interesting concept with having an own little bedroom and shared sanitary rooms and kitchen/ eating space. Very friendly people working there. The sanitary area was in general good, but could be renovated partially.

Very friendly and helpful staff, but the hostel needs some restoration. The double capsule was spacious, but the light kept turning on during the night and was uncomfortable. I woke up at 3 am because of the sounds of a “loving couple”. Not fun when all you need is rest. A bit unpractical too with 2 cards that you always have to cary with you( easy to lose them). Overall is an ok once in life experience.

It is a very good experience. You know you would pay 3 times more for a real hotel room. But Optimi offers you also a lot: air conditioning, a quiet sleeping area, great rain showers, a kitchen, very helpful and polite staff, a futuristic interior and friendly other guests. And it is well situated, with metro station nearby and the Guggenheim at 15 minutes. Certainly worth staying there, real value for not much money.

The pods are okay for one night, but they don't get cleaned very very well. There was fluffs and dirt in the sliders for the door. I also got bitten by bugs whilst in my pod. There's only two toilets and three shower for the entire hostel of ~50 doubles and single pods. You hear everything everyone does.

Extremely satisfied for the price! Amazing location, the hostel is right beside the tram line to get around the city. The capsule concept is cool and the pods were comfy. Staff were very nice

I had the unpleasant experience of dealing with Optimi Rooms Bilbao last night. Travellers should be aware that the reception closes at 12:00pm and they will close. It's clearly stated in their policy that this is the case so, from a legal perspective, they have themselves covered. However, from a human perspective, this hotel left much to be desired. Knowing that I was on my way from the airport (late due to a delayed flight) and that I'd be arriving imminently, they used the excuse of me not thanking them via WhatsApp to cancel my booking and leave me without accommodation at gone 12 at night. Having seen previous comments and the response from the owner, it's clear that he doesn't accept criticism in any form, and I believe that my telling his receptionist by phone that I didn't agree with their policy was taken extremely poorly. The number of unhinged messages, ending in the cancellation of my reservation at around 12:15 at night, is testament to this. When the owner replies, he'll claim that I was rude- in my opinion, I could have been politer because I didn't thank him for waiting, but cancelling my reservation over that is disproportionate and cruel. I will wait in anticipation if the owner displays even a hint of the humility that I have shown in this review. Luckily for me, I had a wonderful night in a place in the centre that treated me with respect and dignity. However, the treatment I experienced at the hands of this man wasn't something to be repeated and that's why I give them one star. Totally unrecommendable. As the owner clearly likes to tell people they're wrong and they need to change, perhaps he'd benefit from a taste of his own medicine- do better Iñaki.
