Rough
start
but
good
in
the
end
It’s
a
budget
stay,
but
I
was
drawn
to
it
because
it
was
the
only
room
available
for
less
than
€700.
Turns
out
there
was
a
Linux
conference
in
town,
so
everything
mid-price
was
booked.
The
receptionist
comes
on
duty
at
2pm,
so
if
you’re
arriving
early,
the
hotel
is
supposed
to
e-mail
a
code
with
instructions
so
you
can
access
the
hotel
and
lock
up
your
stuff.
After
3
e-mails
from
me,
I
never
received
a
response,
so
I
wound
up
lugging
my
bags
to
the
Guggenheim’s
bag
check.
Not
ideal
and
lots
of
extra
taxi
fare.
On
to
the
good
part:
the
location
felt
a
little
remote
at
first,
but
once
I
learned
how
spread
out
Bilbao
is,
I
realized
that
I
would
be
walking,
taking
a
train,
tram,
bus
everywhere,
anyway.
And
the
hotel
is
a
4-minute
walk
from
the
main
“Intermodal”
bus
&
train
station
-
that
includes
the
€3
bus
to
and
from
the
airport.
Also,
a
3-minute
walk
to
the
San
Mamés
subway
station.
My
room
was
small,
but
modern
and
well-appointed
with
a
really
slick
bathroom.
The
AC
was
robust,
and
I
really
needed
that
on
a
couple
hot
days.
No
frills
here,
but
a
good
spot
for
not
too
much
dinero.
