The arrangement of the rooms was that of ship cabins. The rooms are markedly small with small bathrooms. Our room was borderline stuffy with a small window on an internal skylight, that meant there was no hope for a breeze or a ghast of air getting in the room. There was no air-conditioning either. With temperatures in the low-mid twenties at the time of our visit, we might have used it when the air got a bit stale at night. Sound-proofing left a lot to be desired... Up On the positive side the place is just renovated and everything is sparkling brand new and of good quality. The shower was delightful and the mattress, which is the most important detail, was stellar. We were pleasantly surprised with the daily cleaning service, which has become a rarity. Lastly, the method of access to the building, the various floors and the rooms was innovative but not very safe for the guests, in the event of large groups, making it possible for members of the group to get access to the rooms of other members of that group. The location is where you want to stay if you are there for a leisurely weekend. And it offers value for money, cleanliness, a great location and a great bed to crash at night.

Very good location, a lot of food, shopping nearby, even a Chinese convenience store. The room is clean, comfy and perfect for single traveler. Very friendly staff and they helped me book the taxi. I highly recommend this!

This establishment has a lot of good things to offer - comfortable beds, quiet, friendly on-site staff, and located in the Old Town with easy access to Guggenheim, but I couldn't give the room a 5 star because of some irritating design flaws. First, the room where I stayed, the bathroom door swung into the bathroom, but you could not swing the door all the way open, so you had to step in the bathroom, press yourself against the sink or step in the shower to close the door. (the architect or designer responsible for this design should be ashamed.) With such a small place, they should have put in a pocket door. A fix would be to swing the door in the opposite direction in the bathroom or into the bedroom. Secondly, the only place to lay your luggage is on the floor, and with such a small room, you have to step over it to get around.

This is not a hotel… more like hostel or guesthouse.. noisy, room is of a ship cabin as the other review said! No air con in the summer with one tiny fan provided and you can’t open the window at night because it’s full of mosquitoes. The common space is claustrophobic, the reception and cleaning room is right in front of you room door, so privacy is out of the question! It’s over price for what they charged us which was over 160 euro… for what it is!

Hotel was in perfect location (though pretty noisy) and very clean and gracious staff. Room was tiny, and only lighting was overhead ceiling light. Really should have bedside reading lights.

Small but very clean rooms with shower. The staff were well organized and very friendly. The location in the old city (pedestrian area) is ideal for visiting the tourist points of Bilbao and also for spending a few hours in the nice Tapas bars of the old city. Attention : Room on the 2nd or 3th floor and no elevator !

Very comfortable accommodation while a little compact. Was very clean and staff had great English and were very friendly. It is in the old town in a great location and close to trains. Definitely would stay here again and no problem recommending

This hotel is in a prime location with a short walk from a tram stop & surrounded by numerous restaurants & bars. Our room was on the top floor, it was slightly on the small size in terms of storing luggage & toiletries but served a purpose for a 2night stop in Bilbao. On our arrival we were welcomed in a pleasant manner & shown to our room & were informed on how to use the fan in the room which was extremely helpful. Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Casua Mardones.

The facility is in an old building and I admire how they were able to maximize and repurpose it into a hotel/pension house. Emmanuel allowed us to checkin early since our room was already ready and was very helpful in instructing us how to enter our room and the facility after 10pm and giving us directions to the places we wanted to see. The only negative thing is if you have a big luggage because it is not possible to have an elevator. The room itself is adequately sized and modern, bathroom is clean. The facility is within the old town.

A little gem right in the middle of the old town. Easy accessibility to shops, restaurants, transport and wandering. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and so was the bathroom. Check-in was easy. Accessibility to front door and room was secure and we were able to leave our luggage once we checked out - which is 12pm! Bilbao is beautiful and locals are friendly and helpful.

Great little hotel in the middle of the old town. It’s well situated with easy accesses to bus, tram and underground. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Can’t really fault the place. Highly recommended.

Location and price vice it is a good place. It is right in the old town from where you can get easily every where. The room was not too big and it has petty dry interior design. I placed my backpack under the bed where it was a bit dusty. All in all it is ok for a few nights in the center of Bilbao.

Tiny rooms, very noisy all day and night, was too hot in the room, you can’t control temperature. We’ve payed for parking, but they forgot to put it on system and we had trouble in parking and spent our time before flight.

The location was perfect, the room was fresh and clean, really comfy bed. It was a little noisy with the flats upstairs but nothing ro worry about when we wanted to be up early anyway.would recommend.

The small hotel was simple in presentation and very clean. The room has clearly been refurbished recently and the furniture was adequate for a short stay. It was very noisy and some renovation work was being done on the floor above the hotel. My understanding is that this will finish in a day or two. Choose this hotel if you don't mind being in a compact room with some exterior street noise. The compensation is that the atmosphere in this old quarter is excellent. Just go with it!

Nice location but very uncomfortable setting on 2nd floor. Very hot, especially room #2 which is close to the hot water unit, noisy and with common bathroom in very poor conditions. The cleaning is adequate.

It's your basic hostales with no frills. I found it a little expensive but it is right in the centre of the old town.

Very nice little hotel, close to the center of the city and 100m from the tramway line that connects the whole city. The owner is very kind! I will stay there next time in Bilbao (unfortunately, not accessible for disabled people)

Very nice "Pensión" located in the very heart of the old town. Friendly people and well maintained rooms. The decor is a little old fashioned but everything is clean and it has a very cosy atmosphere. Good value for the money!
