Typical food, fair price, rude staff.

We called here twice and the same lady recognised us and served us. The vegan burger was tasty with cheese for vegetarian version. Omelette was delicious and the tapas were varied. Not very cosy in the restaurant area but we were the only people there. Alternatively the bar is cosier but busy. There is a deal on proper meals on certain days, all advertised in the window and these seem popular with locals.

Good traditional tapas, very friendly girl who had to work intensively hard to keep up with all the tables she had to serve. But she was very friendly and helped everyone nicely. The food was good, especially the tortilla de patatas. Some veggie options, just the risotto we didn’t like so much so 4 stars!

The sign says "Txapela Taberna" so it's a bit confusing the first visit. The Menú del Día is the way to go! I had an amazing salad with fois gras and warm berry compote followed by cod with two sauces - a traditional Basque dish. It included bread and a small carafe of wine for 14,50€. I added the profiteroles with hot chocolate sauce, and I'm sitting here fat, happy, and sleepy as I write this review. So good!!!

Great place! Amazing friendly staff very helpful if you only speak English. Pintxo’s & nice Txakoli vino ! Recommend! Not touristy.

Stopped here for drinks and aperitivos - super friendly staff and great drinks that are cheap! Food was lovely too and really good value/service.

This place is a real find. Great staff, food, and ambiance. I'm leaving Bilbao tomorrow. I regret not finding it sooner.

Excellent and reasonably priced food, attentive and friendly service in a relaxed environment. Located on one of the quieter streets in old town. Highly recommend grabbing a table outside and watching the world go by.
