Went in tonight , got the braised shot rib melt for my meal. The sandwich alone is so good nice cheesy meat cooked perfect and some type of aioli that really complimented it, , but when you dip it in the sauce it took it to the next level. Wife got the Irish chicken curry, honestly big time surprise for me. Never been a huge curry fan but maybe just haven’t had good curry cause it was unbelievably tasty. Finally I added some wings cause they have a 50 cent deal, I felt bad eating wings that good for so cheap, no joke I can’t remember the last time I had some wing that good.

Great food, great beer. I love the black jack burger and trivia night on Tuesday is so fun. Most recent time I went server was INCREDIBLY rude and condescending. I’ve had bad service before but that was the first time I didn’t leave a 20% tip. She even mocked my partner for ordering another side sauce “is this enough for you??” Definitely not going back even though I love trivia night so much.

    1. Brunch CORNED BEEF HASH (14) from @oldemagounssaloon. "Fried Eggs, Rustic Style Corned Beef Hash, Country Toast". It was rustic, all right! Big chunks of their excellent house-made brisket corned beef. The crispy peppers surprised me a bit, but they added a nice texture. The eggs were cooked as ordered, but no browning was present. The potatoes still had the slimy skin on, and a few was so mushy they weren't edible. The bread was excellent. Overall, a delightful meal after the potatoes were peeled. Excellent Reuben available as well. 2. HAUS WURST PLATE (19) from @oldemagounssaloon. "Hofbrau Bier steamed Schaller and Weber Bratwurst & Knockwurst, sauerkraut & tart apple, warm German potato salad, mustard, currywurst". They insisted that it was called currywurst, but that is a type of sausage. Curry Gewurz is the correct name. Anyway, this wasn't on the menu when I got there today. It had been 86ed over the summer. In the end, the kitchen agreed to make it for me, and boy was I lucky. This was absolutely delicious! The sauerkraut with apples was a delight, and so were the sausages. The warm potato salad was excellent and had plenty of onion and bacon. The potatoes had the skin left on, but I didn't really mind for once, since it was like the skin on new potatoes. The curry ketchup was also delicious. I once bought a bottle from Karl Kitchen, which was just meh. I was only charged $16 since it wasn't in the system anymore. Somebody got a big tip! 3. CAST IRON MAC-N-CHEESE (12) at @oldemagounssaloon. With the add-on buffalo chicken it's ($17). "Cooked to order and served in a cast iron skillet". This looks like a small serving, but it wasn't. The creamy pasta was cooked perfectly, and the tender buffalo chicken was crispy, even after being sauced. Another excellent dish.

Magoun's is my go-to local watering hole. They have a fantastic beer selection that changes by the day. It's definitely selected by a person who knows good beer. The food is above average bar food and it's a great place to watch sports. Occasional events like Octoberfest and Superbowl chili cookoffs keep things fresh. For the owners: bring back spicy food month! That was the best thing you ever did and some of the menu items were insanely spicy. Loved it!

Beer selection is always great, but do NOT miss out on the Irish Chicken Curry with rice and fries. The smell is intoxicating, and it’s one of the best in all of Boston!

Wow what a unique place. The overall environment was amazing. Great service and they have projectors up for the big games. I’ve been here multiple times and I have not once been disappointed. The food is incredible and very fairly priced. Great place to eat with friends and family.

This is a great place. I sat at the bar, they were playing some excellent music (alternative). The beer was delicious and the corned beef hash and eggs were amazing! Great service. Highly recommend.

Best veggie burger I've had in Boston, hands down! Great selection of drinks and a seasonally-rotating menu of food that has yet to disappoint. This is my go-to place to grab a beer with friends.

As far as Pub food it was great. I had the Salmon BLT without the bacon and still delicious on a warm focaccia. Onion Rings were good as well. Broad selection of 🍺 . Lively atmosphere ( a bit on the loud side). We enjoyed the trivia . 😀

What happened to the big whiskey burger? The best burger on the menu has gone! Also the thick fries used to be the best and are now tasteless skinny fries.

I normally love this place. I actually come here quite frequently and I’m obsessed with their entire menu. I’ve never had anything I didn’t love. However, tonight I brought a friend here for her first time, and I’ve been raving about the place. During the hour and a half that we were there, the server came by exactly one time. We had menus, and we were going to order food, and he only brought us one drink. He never came back. We literally waited for an hour and a half and finally I just went up to the bar and paid our bill and we left. Very disappointing.

A cozy place to have good beer and TASTY food! I love coming here, I always receive great and quick service! The buffalo wings are my favorite, but like the last review said though - bring back the thick fries!

We arrived at 10am Saturday and had an amazing brunch! I had eggs Benedict with short ribs, every part of it was amazing. My daughter (4) got the classic breakfast (scrambled eggs and toast, bacon, sausage, home fries. We loved it and of course had enough for probably 4 meals for her! Hubby had chicken and waffles and it had some nice gravy. I had a Mimosa and it was very good and kinda big! Thanks for a great breakfast!

Beautiful pub with great food and an excellent selection of beer. One of my new favorite places. The Haus Wurst plate was phenomenal paired with the Winter-Bock. I highly recommend!

A great local bar. Solid, varied tap list. Food made from scratch. Everything’s delicious. The kitchen can have off days but it’s because they’re human. When they’re on, it’s amazing. Can’t imagine Magoun Square without them!!

Great local bar. Fun at night, fun for Sunday brunch / football, great beer selection. Got the corned beef hash today, it was great. Good nachos and burgers too.

If you need somewhere that hasn't changed in the Boston area this is it. I don't think they've redone the inside since at least 2010. Not that it needs it, it's a classic casual sports bar / pub feel. You can grab a drink and meal and watch or not watch the Pats, Red Sox, Bs or Celtics potentially break your heart. Not sure if it's still the case, but they used to serve the best named dish in Somerville - "Not Your Momma's Meatloaf" The beers have improved, but the place stays the same.

The service has always been mediocre or worse, and the menu is fine but not many options, especially for vegetarians. The beer list, though - totally on point. I dislike big tvs, but this is a good place to watch football if that's your thing.

One of our favorite taverns! The food is phenomenal and the staff are friendly. If you're looking for outside the box tavern dining, this is your spot! Extensive and unique beer selection, and they just started doing signature cocktails. Monthly events and they have TV's if sports are your thing.

This place spoiled me in terms of food, drink and service. Moved out of the area and cannot find anything remotely similar. Very sad. Try the poutine, hell, try anything on the menu. It's all gold. I've never left there disappointed.

Awesome place with great atmosphere and terrific beer selection. Service was good in spite of packed house. Game 7 of the Boston/Miami series was on so the place was going crazy.

Cool bar with big tvs and a lively atmosphere. Large selections of beers on tap available in half and full liters. Around 8-10 for a beer and double for a liter. Full kitchen available.
