Stayed overnight to catch an early bus - it's super convenient for Dig eth bus station. The room was quaint and comfortable. It had all you need and the shared bathroom was clean and well-equipped. We had a pint in the pub below and the beer/ambience were superb. A lot of interesting characters in there. Highly recommended both as a pub and as a place to stay

Recently stayed in the rooms above the pub for a few nights. Room was pleasant and to be expected from a building of that age. The double bed mattress was extremely uncomfortable and could use updating. Stayed over a weekend so a lot of noise from the pub below into the small hours. We were so tired from a busy weekend it didn't keep us awake. The staff were friendly and special mention to the caretaker & housekeeper. Two friendliest people we met on the whole trip. Full of great local knowledge and recommendations.

My partner and myself stayed here two nights during the middle of the week. We immediately loved the style of the room with the old beams and four poster bed. We were extremely grateful for the heating being on all evening as it was very cold outside! Also the kettle for making our own tea was a great bonus. The bathrooms are not far from the room and the shower was powerful and got lovely and hot. I needed more than one pillow but I forgot to ask. Apart from that, it was very comfortable and we didn't experience any noise. A really lovely stay, thank you!

Historic (built 1368) timber framed pub with wooden floors and roof beams. Recently added outside eating drinking area is great in the summer. Simple pub food that’s well cooked, tasty and good value. Serves locally produced Purity beers along with other craft beers and an extensive range of spirits.

A fantastically old, in fact Birminghams oldest pub/inn. Appearance catches the eye and they’ve done incredibly well to keep the character as well as modernise it at the same time. Large outdoor area and numerous spots to have a quiet drink within. Would love to stay over one time!

Away from the city centre, cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. Booking on their site is absolutely useless since the table is not kept and in addition the kitchen is closed and you necessarily have to eat fried food in an external foodtruck. I do not recommend from all points of view.

I would like to that the staff, the door man and manager in particular, who were absolutely amazing and profoundly professional. They went beyond the call of duty in assisting with and essentially taking control of an unfortunate and delicate situation that occured on Saturday afternoon. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The food was to notch too. Keep up the excellent work guys, you're an absolute credit to Birmingham. Best regards, Mark Hudson

Good place to stay in the Digbeth area, especially if party people. Music in beer garden until 1.00 a.m. on Friday and Saturdays. Close to the Custard Factory and other independent bars in area. Historic pub, dates back to 1368. Food good. Not to far from Birmingham coach station and short walk to the Bullring.

We had an amazing stay at this pub. It's got to be the most characterful hotel ever, as well as being clean. The staff were lovely, and food was pretty good pub grub. Nice outdoor space for the vibes as well. And very well located in trendy Digbeth. And all that for a bargain price. Quite loud at night time, so don't stay if you are looking for a quiet night in.

Excellent atmosphere in covered outdoor area with regular DJ takeovers, plus live band performing when I arrived out back. Inside its busy but quick turnaround at bar. Staff excellent, lovely demeanor and good customers, friendly vibe. Good selection of local ales and Intl lagers, good cocktail selection too!

We went on a Tuesday night, 4 of us, and had a great meal. 2 had fish and chips and 2 burgers. I would highly recommend the fish and chips, possibly the best I've ever had. The thicker chips and thinner burger chips were all very good and not frozen ones. The service was a bit haphazard with customers at 3 different tables getting their food at varying times. I should imagine that in the summer it's even better as they have an open courtyard as well. Well worth a visit!

Extensive premises with huge beer garden. Ample seating. Red Stripe on tap, plus many other great beers. Friendly, welcoming staff. Didn't have food, but drinks were great. Would definitely return

Stayed for one night, very kind staff, good night sleep in a very old house. Lovely room, can be noisy on the weekends I'd imagine. Bathroom was newly done. 👌 food was good as well ! Thank you

Came here for a pub quiz with friends and was made to feel very welcome by the quiz host. All staff were friendly and helpful and the decor was cosy and comfortable. Decent selection of drinks and the food looked tasty!

Delicious Sunday lunch! In our party of 6 we had one gluten free and two vegan - everyone had a lovely meal. The staff are friendly and efficient and the atmosphere was welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

Staff were friendly and quick, had the seabass- divine 😍. Lots of outside seating, some quirky seating, armchairs from the 50's, not so comfortable for this old lady 😂 and just round the corner from all the bright, loud bars.

Lovely pub not far from central Birmingham. We also stayed overnight in the hotel, the venue is very welcoming and all the staff were very friendly and helpful Would definitely recommend not only visiting for a drink but also as a location to stay at too

Decent Airbnb room 8, spacious and comfortable and clean. Love the shower in the bathroom. Above the pub so expect it to be noisy until late on a Friday night but if can put up with that then this is decent spot. Less than 10 mins walk from coach station.

Everyone knows The Old Crown is Birmingham's oldest pub. But it's also my favourite pub in Birmingham, with ample seating both inside and outside (covered during winter) so you're always likely to find a table, a great selection of drinks and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

The pub itself is lovely. Extensive and interesting beet garden and the interiors have been opened up and made bright and more inviting. I was a bit annoyed with the bar staff who evidenced irritation when I'd have to go back each time and top up my pint. There's an acceptable size of head on a Guinness and then there's piss-take. It suggests a management policy, to get it wrong with such regularity. Unnecessary.

This is an ancient pub with rooms set in the heart of Birmingham. The staff were really friendly .The rooms are best described as basic .There is a shared bathroom. It's fine for a one nighter but quite noisy as on a super busy road . Very reasonable price but no option for breakfast.

Nice Pub. We had two beers, freshly pulled, you can choose from a variety of different beers. Also had the fish and chips, very tasty. And as a snack the olives in house marinade. They have a bit of spice what goes well along the beer. As always in a pub: look for a table, memorise your table number and order at the bar.

Beautiful looking building, part containing the Pub with B&B rooms upstairs. Very nice back court garden area with option of street food stall if you wish to have a change from an interesting pub menu. Effective Very dog friendly that is unusual for a city pub. And wow, what a history for the place, being one of Birmingham's oldest buildings. It needs keeping and investing in by the city.

Visited as it’s such an old place expected much more for decor and style but each to their own place has so much potential huge out door area toilets absolute stank so I opted not to use them you can actually smell them before you entered there’s a lovely old well outside too however that also smelled and was full of rubbish. Food mediocre apple crumble… or apple concrete crumble was rock hard. Wouldn’t go back but not the worst I have been to.

Wow what a GEM of a pub. Been past it a thousand times on the bus and thought , that looks nice. Well today I went in. Superb service beer and food . Lots going on out back too! Music etc . Friendly relaxed and worth a visit.

The bar was very busy and lively which was great to see. The double bed in the room was not comfy and the mattress needs to be replaced very badly. The window couldn't stay open which made the room stuffy. And unfortunately (not the hotels fault) One of the bathrooms had a leak so 4 rooms had to share 1 bathroom which was annoying. The staff were lovely though. Very friendly and helpful and location wise only 20 min walk into town.

After enduring the hefty three-minute walk through the blistering February sun, we were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this lovely, quaint old pub. We came for food, and boy oh boy did we get food. The service was exceptional, and we were happy to be presented with some water for the table (needed in this heat)! The fries, in my modest opinion, were the best I’ve had. The seasoning brought out some wonderful experiences for the old tastebuds. The service was lovely throughout, and I’d be very happy to come back on another Sunday. Perhaps it won’t be so sunny this time!

Warm welcome at an amazing historic building in the heart of Birmingham, conveniently situated for the coach station. At present there is building work everywhere, but the pub is welcoming, serves great food and has lovely rooms for a good value stay over. It is a historic building so there is little soundproofing, and music is played in the pub until closing. Lovely staff and a great atmosphere.

The oldest pub in Birmingham sadly seems to suffer from a pretty rough crowd of customers. Beer was good and reasonably priced; music insensibly loud making conversations a shouting match. At 730pm at least half the customers were quite drunk; and a selection both abusive to bar staff and to other punters. In the toilets, 2/4 urinals were overflowing - the space was both worn, dirty and stinking; and standing in one cubicle was a guy clearly offering something for sale. I didn't stop to find out.... Looked forward to visiting this historic pub but sadly it missed the mark.

Had our staff Xmas do here after being let down by another place. The team are total legends managing to squeeze us in for food also! Could not believe our luck and the thank god we did pop in. The food was delicious and well worth the budget friendly cost charged. We have decided we will likely go back next year because of the service and food!
