After a great visit the previous week for lunch, me and my partner decided to book for a celebratory meal together. From greeting to exit, the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly. We were given choice of where to sit and were even allowed to sit in an area used for private functions. We were given the choice to order via the app or directly through a staff member. We ordered a couple of the draught ciders which arrived instantly and were yummy! For food we shared a seafood platter starter which was absolutely gorgeous. Perfect for two people and outstanding quality. For mains, I had the salmon fillet (they say fillet but wow, I felt spoilt like I got the entire salmon!) and my partner had a med rare steak. Both were amazingly good and it's clear the kitchen use fresh products and take care in delivering high quality meals. Prices were really good for such amazing quality, service and surroundings. Can't wait for our next visit!

Was my first time here. Ambience was great. Every room had a different feel. The designs were very intricate and detailed. They served a good selection of wine. Nice service. Good staff. I truly enjoyed the night here with my friends. We are definitely coming back again.

I would have loved to have been able to spend more time here, the ambiance was perfect. The bar tender knew his stuff and so the drinks were perfect, good gins. There were a number of separate seating areas which felt quite private. The lighting was low and lots of intricate features to keep you amused. I’ll definitely be back to this subterranean little gem of a bar.

One of my all time favourite spots in Birmingham. Been revisiting this place for many years and still love the vibe and charm. Has a great offering of drinks and a decent food selection too. Would highly recommend.

Out of the way, almost hidden pub with an awesome vibe/decor. Always a good selection of beer with friendly staff too. No signal down there so take some good company!

Great venue right in the centre of Birmingham a few minutes from New Street Station and The Bull Ring. Very accommodating staff and reasonable quality food (Burger excellent but chips a bit cold - I was very hungry so I ate them just the same). The space is brilliantly decorated with all sorts of different alcoves and arches.

Delicious lunch yesterday and really friendly service. The fish and chips was the best I’ve had in quite a while and my friends burger was almost bigger than her 😂. It’s not cheap but what is these days. Always nice to go to the Bacchus bar. 😋

As nice as the interior and the staff are, I sadly cannot leave more than 1 star. The calamari (I'm guessing) has left me toilet bound for the last 45 minutes and I am still here as I write this. One of the worst stomach pains ever and leaving the back end raw is not how I expected the night to go - not what I was hoping from a £120 group bill sadly. I would have left a photo of the toilet (or what is left of it), but you get the picture. Can't fault the staff though, they were brilliant. If you do decide to go, all I say is avoid the calamari! EDIT: Thank you for the passive aggressive reply saying that I was lying, I can assure you it was something i ate at your restaurant. It shows a lot about you and your business and the pettiness of both. Your silly replies will have more of a detrimental impact on business than the reviews themselves, so to that i say congratulations. Excellently handled, i salute you. EDIT AGAIN: Yes I went with humour to express my review. your first reply was just downright rude, and now you have deleted it so i'm sure you saw that it could be perceived that way too. Brendan, you seem like a pleb who still lives with his mother.

Beautiful architecture and very interesting designed bar. In general ok, they have. Lots of selections of drinks and couple of interesting foods, but I would go there more for drings than food. From time to time there is a lack of cleaning, but nothing huge, just typical for a busy place. I do recommend it, it will be a different experience than the normal pub.

Unique place in town to gather with friends with good food and drinks in the middle. It is beautifully decorated with ancient gods style. The service is also excellent even I Peak hours.

Situated very close to the train station, this Bar has a great atmosphere. It is lovely to experience a different feel pub. Great selection of gins and cocktail menu. Small lunchtime menu but sandwich wise, there were only 3 options available/left on the day of our visit. Bar Staff were chatty and helpful. Our waitress was very shy when she brought our food and didn't speak. Would visit again for drinks and to show friends.

Whilst breaking bread here a haze came over my mind which led me to believe that I was in the midst of a Shakespearean play, alas the balsamic onion gravy woke me from said fantasy. Truly memorable. Mesmerising.

Really interesting/nice place with some cool decor. Lovely servers who were fast and attentive. We went for a Sunday roast and were left a little underwhelmed. I never like being too critical having worked in restaurants myself but the beef was rather over-done and dry, parsnips were a bit under and generally the dish/gravy didn’t have much flavour. Had to save it with a lot of additional salt/pepper/horse radish. When you go for a roast you want to be blown away with a hearty meal and unfortunately this wasn’t quite it.

three plates just enough for five people :) Usually not a big fan of black beer, but the Plum Porter which I tasted was amazing (yes they let you taste the draft beer before you decide which to order)

The entrance starts with some stairs leading down to this amazing bar with a fascinating decor, architecture, ornaments and very beautiful ceiling paintings, paintings on the walls and statues. The pub is divided into different rooms or areas with different atmospheres. The subdued dim lighting creates a cozy atmosphere. My growing anticipation down the stairs to this bar came to an abrupt end. The two gentlemen standing at the bar (barmen), were absolutely not interested in welcoming us (7 people), which was really quite unexpected. it became quite clear that staff lacked competence in dealing with customers. The feeling was not improved by the fact that they had very few ales to offer. So the overall impression dropped even more. PS I liked your response and believe you mean it, hence my additional comment below. You have created a unique atmosphere, that raises the expectations of the customer already at the entrance. This means that expectations are high when they arrive at the bar. Well done 👍 However, the staff were either not to bothered about helping or just were not in the know about what’s like to be a bartender. As you are well aware, the custom is to give a very simple explanation and offer a small glass for testing. All the best

We came to this bar for one drink on a Sunday evening and ended up staying a lot longer than anticipated. The decor is incredible and very unique and the service from the bartenders was very friendly and welcoming. Will make sure to be back when I’m next in the area

I love this little gem of a place. It's more of a winter venue but the decór is amazing and there is such a magical energy and atmosphere. They even have fantastic vegan food on the menu and live music sometimes. It's always going to be somewhere I'm excited to visit and show people and it's especially funky if you get the table which is basically in a tomb!! ?

The snacks are great. The place is quite lovely, the medieval style is nice, the opaque lights give it a nice touch. Staff are friendly, toilets are alright. Good beer options. There is no phone signal since it is underground. The tables are at a proper distance from one another which gives good privacy to people in every table.

Such a beautiful place. The interior was amazing with its arches and secluded alcoves. Brilliant for a nice quiet drink after a long day shopping or for a quiet night out. Only downside is location and access. Unless you knew it was there you would walk right past and access is via steps. Didnt see a lift although I'm sure they must have one

Located just a block south of Little Five Points, this is a great place to try bar food taken to the next level while enjoying the opportunity to sample very unique beers. As far as brewpubs go, this place is definitely near the top. Most of the beers I've had have been very well balanced and full of flavor. The chef team does a great job of collaborating with the brewers to pair dishes with beers. My personal favorites are the sandwich offerings, specifically the Reuben. Check it out!

This restaurant is very nice, need and my siblings at a wonderful experience here! The entrance is a bit hard to find but the staff are very courteous and friendly. I love this Resturant! I stop here before almost every show I attend in Little 5 Points! Great atmosphere, service and food. I love the stone feel underground and have never been let down during a visit. I’ve met some awesome people here and can’t say enough good things about the place. Stop in, you won’t be disappointed!

This place is always good. They have a rotating menu, and they have locally brewed beer. And when I say locally brewed I mean they brew their own beer. They seem to have fun with it and that's why I like about this place. Services is good too. It's one of the few places that I can consistently get a good meal in Atlanta.

  • 3/5 david l. 4 years ago on Google
The food was okay, it is a very trendy place and that means large volume of food coming out of the kitchen. It was nothing special, and since I don't drink the local beers had no appeal to me. I remember when this was the site of architectural antiques, and the Brew pub has expanded greatly since starting. They have sustainable options, they have a farm in Gwinnett that supplies many of their needs. I need to try this place when it isn't so busy to see what they can really do.

  • 5/5 Marie M. 3 years ago on Google

Good food and beer... too bad there was a rat crawling around inside. From the other reviews, it looks like they know about this issue but clearly haven’t fixed it yet. But who knows, I’ve seen Ratatouille... maybe it was the chef.

Happy to have visited for the first time last Friday. We sat at an outdoor table near the front of the building. Service was good. Food and drinks were tasty. They’re doing an excellent job of making the best of a difficult situation.

Their burger is delicious. They use white oak farms which is an ethical farm; you can taste the difference. Their CSA is great and their beer selection is excellent (they make their own!). The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. If you are in Inman park, I would highly recommend and the prices aren’t too bad!

I come here often and literally am never disappointed. This place is a gem and the entire package. Casual beer after work? Fancy date night? Wrecking Bar can do both. The beer selection is always changing and growing. The food is beyond impressive. They are well seeded in the Atlanta Farming Community (even having their own farm) so you know you’re eating fresh and local. Great comfort food selection (I recommend their fries and Reuben) or there is always something new and unique to try. Pictured here is their watermelon salad and chanterelle toast. Incredible!

I have been driving by this place for years without ever really noticing it, but decided to go on a whim one day. I’m so glad I did, because this is one of my go-to places now! The drinks are strong and delicious, and the food is always fresh and tasty. The servers are always extremely kind and fast, and the vibe of the restaurant is really warm and inviting, while also being laid back. I have come here in a dress and high heels, but also in Nike shorts and my boyfriend’s hoodie. Either way, I’m greeted with the same respect and kindness and a delicious experience every single time. Lovely place to eat and drink in the centre of Birmingham. Reserving a table for food is highly recommended as it gets so busy but it isn’t always possible to reserve a table. Yesterday we were told that we couldn’t due to how busy it was so we’d have to chance it when we wanted to eat. When we came back at 6.45 there were 2 tables with reserved on them.

I personally love this bar, you can never go wrong with a Nicholsons pub, the foods lovely, though I only had dessert this time round. You do need forget your timing right however because this pub can get BUSY and I mean busy! I went at around 2, and there was hardly anyone there, out of the multiple times I've been, this was the first for it to be so quiet! Well worth a visit if your visiting good pubs of bham

Great venue that's always highlighted in guides of where to drink in Bham. Fantastic place to meet up, but be warned, slight lack off phone signal means it's not always easy if people don't know where it is. But, that being said there's no place quite like Bacchus in Bham - mostly due to fantastic decor - always have a descent selection of beers helps as well!

Great place. Amazing staff. And I found a new fav beer. A Must visit.

It's a Nicholson's pub, quite easy to miss (you need to duck under an archway with a doorway somewhat hidden to the side that drops you down a staircase to a cellar dwelling. Met up with some family friends for dinner who recommended this place; we were shown to a table deep inside the premises and decided to opt for pies. The meal was good, beer fine (a mixture of Nicholson's own and some other guest beers) and service excellent. I decided to try a pudding, cheesecake with a generous dollop of cream. The total bill for 4 people for meals plus plenty of beers came to under £100 - excellent value for what we had. Will definitely return if I'm in the area.

Place looks very good BUT there is no cocktails at all and food is not so good as you can expect: steak is chewy and ale pie has strange taste.

There aren't many pubs in the centre of Birmingham so we were glad to find this one. Staff are friendly, there's a good range of drinks and grub. But no sandwiches at weekends?

Really nice place. Really nice themes and atmosphere. If the crowded, noisy bar/club is not for you then you'll find here adequate for a drink. Friendly staff and good prices. Highly recommend.

A real hidden treasure medieval themed bar in the middle of Birmingham, the artwork is mesmerising and there are lots of gins to try, I also had a Sticky Toffee Pudding. A must see!

Lovely bar, but I think I speak for many people when I say that this doesn’t amount to a fiver’s worth of halloumi fries....

As much as I love this place we sadly have to leave an average review! Advertised as a dog friendly bar yet when we walked in we were refused entry due to our pup (11 year old King Charles.) Apparently the boss doesn’t like dogs! It’s clearly not a Nicholson’s pub policy as we had been to the Old Contemptible and They couldn’t do enough for the old boy (pup) Instead we went to the Shakespeare and weren’t challenged and spent out money there instead.

Very unique (possibly tacky in places?) but likeable interior. Decent service and tasty food. Limited for seating in an evening as they close off another section.

We had a meal here on Xmas eve and had an amazing time. Half of the menu had run out and had to be substituted but still had a fantastic time because of our server Steve. Both him and the chef both clearly deserve a raise and a pat on the back from the management, we felt really looked after...thanks and we'll definitely come again 😊

Amazing place with stunning food and reasonable prices. Centre of Birmingham and hidden away under the Burlington Arcade. This doesn't mean its quiet though. You can always tell a good place when they're still very busy even after all these years with all the competition around. Well done to the manager and all staff.

  • 5/5 Deborah P. 2 years ago on Google
Great venue, lovely friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in, really large bar area with lots of little alcoves and tucked away places to sit. We ate here too and the dining area in in a separate part, equally lovely atmosphere and the service and food was faultless. So glad I found this gem that is literally opposite new street station.

  • 2/5 Paul L. 2 years ago on Google
After hearing about this from the friends, & though to try it, for specialized for pia without a pia available in the menu, that's a let down, specially when the restaurant are empty, food is okey nothing special. The only amazing here is the atmosphere, the decorations. & Maybe the drinks & that's the only reason wi will be back. Ps. Don t allow staff walking around in the restaurant with there cigarettes in there mouth.

Been going to the great Bacchus for more than 25 years - sheesh! - and although nowhere near as often as I used to visit back in the day, still nice to pop in for a long overdue visit. Still very chilled, underground bar which is directly beneath the Burlington Hotel. Lots of good drink options and they also serve a decent range of food choices. Perhaps not quite the showstopper it used to be - they really need to sort out the front door which looks fit to shatter - but I'll always have a place in my heart for Bacchus.

Ordered the brisket burger which was absolutely delicious, though I wish there was more brisket on it however. The decor is stunning very different and very artistic. Will for sure be returning and I’ll bring my friends

  • 5/5 Pauline T. 2 years ago on Google
In the Burlington Arcade, the entrance looks strange but don't be put off, down the stairs is a large venue decorated in the Bacchus theme ancient Rome/Greece and a bit of Egyptian. Very over the top but very interesting. We'll worth a visit.

  • 4/5 Fabio T. 11 months ago on Google
Bar located underground, close to the train station. The atmosphere is very cool, there are several separated areas with different themes. It is mainly a drink bar but you can also eat. They have a lot of cocktails and beers, and a small choice of wine as well. The eating menu is complete, you'll find most of the typical english pub food. I would give a score of 5 for drinking, 4 if you also eat (very good but not excellent).

  • 5/5 raine B. 9 months ago on Google
A confusion of decorative themes. Mediaeval when you come in, with ancient Egyptian in the side room. Very poorly lit which makes reading the menu challenging. Lots of different levels with steps. Whilst there is a lift at the first set, I'd not recommend this for those who are mobility challenged. Best pint we had that day. Fantastically well kept beer. Friendly and helpful service. Really nice food. I can't find a reply button, so adding to the review. There is a lift for the initial entrance steps but then there are others for some of the seating areas and also for the bar. I'm lucky to be mobile but I have friends and family who would find this challenging, and so I feel that this information is helpful to people in a similar situation. I'm not sure if the building lends itself to a totally level option?

I love this place! There’s no doubt it’s one of the most beautiful pubs in Birmingham. There’s a great selection of beers and the food is always good. I absolutely loved the fish and chips last time I dinned there, best I’ve had for a long time. The waiting staff were very friendly and helpful too.
