Came here yesterday to watch the football England vs Wales game. Staff Were Lovely & have a contagious fun energy. Loads of tvs and loads of seating so we and everyone there had a great view of the game. The Food looked amazing I did come here over a year ago for food and it was lovely so definitely need to come back and try the food again soon. Overall good atmosphere, warm indoors, Cozy Vibes all had a great night. Plus England Won The Game so even better 🙌🏼⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿😊

This place is really worth the visit. They will let you taste the beer on tap and decide what suits you the best! The price is suprisingly good for a pub in the old center of the 2nd-3rd largest city in GB. Cheers to the big guy who got me on the “one chicken wing”!

Me and my husband love coming here. We came here when we first started dating so it has some sentimental value to us. We have occasionally dropped by every so often over time. I should have left a glowing review a long time ago. Never to late I guess. We love the quirky charm of this place, it is an absolute hidden gem. Service is always 5 star and the staff are all a credit to this Green King Pub. Thank you for making our date nights special.

Top quality venue, warm inviting interior, shows sporting events on big screens, but there is enough space for those who are not fans. Their outside terrace is a prime location in the summer, and faces the canal.

First time visitor to the Malt House this afternoon. The location is fabulous, really nice next to the canal, and inside it really has some charm. The barman who served was very friendly, polite and genuinely seemed happy to be doing what he is doing. The happy vibe was very welcome! Inside, quickly found a table I liked and enjoyed my drink while passing by in central Birmingham. All of the tables were clean, but did notice food under the floor on mine - could do with a little attention taken to under the tables when cleaning away. Visited the toilets during my visit. They were clean but with so many signs of vandalism - I do think it needs a bit of a refresh. It's not a major thing as were clean and fresh. There is a serious concern noted on this visit that must raise, which is pretty much why have to note this review as 2* to be sure it can be looked into. This pub is in breach of "The Calorie Labelling (Out of Home Sector) (England) Regulations 2021" specifically in relation to omission of the statement of "(c)subject to paragraph (3), the statement that “adults need around 2000 kcal a day”." on each of the menu's requiring it. I noted this is not on the main menu that is printed on A4 paper, but also the main drinks menu to which it applies for drinks below 1.2% ABV. This law has been in place since April 2022 so should have been implemented by now. In addition, I noted a number of symbols next to menu items, but no key as to what they mean? There is a * and a + but with no matching small print? I have uploaded a photo of the menu to show this. Conclusion: This is really a nice place, but it could do with some attention. Specifically around the food labelling regulations on the menu and a lick of paint as required. I do hope this feedback is taken constructively as intended and resolved internally.

Cool location, pretty big spot along the water. A lot of action because of a show across the canal, and offered many food and drink options. For how packed it was the servers did a good job attending to everyone in a timely manner. The beers weren’t that expensive either. Very nice atmosphere, been in a few times and will continue to come back!

Typical chain and what you expect, good food, good drink and friendly staff. Fantastic canalside location with indoor and outdoor seating over two floors. Docked a star as no app ordering (irritating as a solo diner/traveller) and several very wobbly tables canalside that need attention - you don't expect your table to rock more than a canal barge

The roof terrace overlooking the canals is one of the best locations to drink in Birmingham when it’s sunny. Very cosy well styled interior perfect for the winter. Decent prompt service when we visited. What let it down was the selection and quality of beer available. I had their ice breaker IPA which was very average and at 5.85 I felt was expensive. I’ve had their cask ales previously and never thought they were particularly good, interesting or well kept. I will be back because it’s a cool pub it’s just a shame they can’t improve their beer.

Very unique pub, eyes catching all the little details of the interior. They also got good beers on tap, winter special ale really worth to try. They also good vegan options, i had very good time there.

It's an ok kind of place, nice to sit by the canal on a warm day. The staff is friendly enough. Food was a mixed bag the toasties were very nice but the steak pie 🥧 was pretty dismally. Hardly any meat and just pastry. Fish 🐠 and chips were ok. Overall don't expect much the setting is the best thing about this pub.

Visiting from Dorset. We had an excellent meal. Quick service. Quality. Reasonably priced. Nice clean and tidy pub. Great location on the canal. Live the layout of the pub too. Ale choices were good too. Friendly service. Probably the best pub i have been to this year. Thank you. 5 of us Visited 12/10/2021.

This was a great to pub to go drinking at, located conveniently next to the canals of Birmingham! The seating is comfortable especially with the added bonus of outside for the heat, the counter is well-presented and the design is top notch including different shaped structures and decorations related to the canal. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed a pint of mango cider, although it is a bit expensive especially for this city.

Excellent place with good food. The location is probably the best in Birmingham! Right next to the canal. The local beer was good, I would recommend trying it. The building is really nice and looks great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Service was good. Menu has vegetarian options and good beer options.

Absolutely terrible! They burnt the sausages and you could hardly cut through their skins and the little leftover meat inside was hard & dry. nobody came to ask if we were ok with the food or needed anything else. Nice location though - hope they improve their food & services.

Lovely setting looking over the canal in Birmingham. Very clean and the staff friendly. Ordered our food from the bar and we didn't have to wait very long for it to come. Not bad value for money for a city centre pub and the food was very good. We had the katsu chicken burger which was very tasty.

Awesome old school pub, lovely setting near the canals and the general architecture of the building is beautiful. Haven't been upstairs on the balcony yet but will do soon. Service is usually pretty fast (except for peak times obviously), and the staff are friendly. Haven't had food here but plan to next time. Prices are pretty expensive in line with Birmingham as a whole.
