Had a family gathering and it was my first ever visit to this pub. The guy with the black painted nails called Mark was absolutely fantastic. Really looked after us and made our night with his funny Irish comedy. Superb service.

This was a very pretty pub to go drinking at, with a vintage design including arches! The staff were friendly, the counter is well-presented and I enjoyed a quality pint of cider at comfy, clean seating.

What a fantastic pub!!!! Went for the first time yesterday with my partner and a friend. Absolutely loved the interior. So full of character. Tiles and stained glass everywhere. It really is a special little place. As they serve Neck Oil, we found that we spent far longer in there than we'd intended. Well worth a visit.

Visited for lunch with two very bored soggy grand children, we had such a warm welcome. Lady gave kids crayons and paper to keep them entertained. Kids loved their meal and hot chocolate, and we enjoyed our coffees. The pub itself is beautiful, stained glass windows, wooden floors, and fab 1920's tiles. I'd imagine this place buzzes in the evening. Thank you so much for looking after us, will definitely return (without kids next time 😁)

Lovely Victorian pub and the barman was especially helpful, I didn't like the pint I had ordered so he swapped it for a Citra which I think is brilliant customer service. We will definitely be back here

Great pub , food is good , good beer and cocktails was my previous 5* review Went last night after lockdown ! It doesn't seem to have the same atmosphere the last half a dozen times i have been there ! It seems big dark and empty as if someone hasn't paid the light bill ( not due to social distancing) . The social distancing is strange, on every table there is card with 4 step explanation about the process and using a track and trace app . We only washed our hands at the door . Their web site says they are IN the government EAT OUT SYSTEM but after ordering our food we were given the full £53 bill for food ( minus drinks for 4 people) . When we questioned it the staff didn't seem to know anything aboout the scheme and how it worked ! They were polite and friendly about it and knocked £10 off the bill saying something about we didn't spend enough . We aren't skint or after a free meal so we just paid . However we checked at the next pub down the road to confirm the EAT OUT scheme which is' 50% off your meal up to £10 per person with no minimum spend ' . So we should have gotten £26.50 government discount by my calculations ?? Anyway the food was just OK but everybody ate most of it because we hadn't eaten all day due to circumstances . We didn't think much of the beer they only had two ales on ( understandably ) both were a bit flat and tasteless . The waitress was friendly , the staff were friendly there was no row about the EAT OUT scheme ( lifes too short ) so reduced score to 3 * . It's not a great pub which is shame because it was much better 3 years ago .

Been a local here for many years, seen the pub go up and down, but recently I’ve seen a very good increase in care for the pub by the owners. This is reflected in the staff, and makes for a very pleasant visit. Heather has been here for years and is always lovely to be served by. She seems over the moon either the new takeover and from a customer view the pub looks outstanding now

Excellent pub restaurant right in the centre of the Jewellery Quarter. Good quality, great presentation of food. Reasonable prices for food and drink - good selection of draught beers and ciders, bottles also. Lovely atmosphere - friendly staff, classic pop music, large tables. Also tables outside. Good customer service. Would definitely visit again!

Gorgeous pub with the most beautiful windows and nooks everywhere to sit with beautiful old features…. The new owner has certainly put so much heart and soul back into a beautiful place really is rare nowadays…. The staff are always greeting customers with smiles which is also rare. The staff really are a credit to the new owner I will definitely be back

The new management is an absolute breath of fresh air, just what the rose villa needed. Its a beautiful, historical, clean pub, Staff are welcoming, food is amazing!! Definitely a place I highly recommend and visit regularly, I've also never come across a pub that is so dog friendly which is also an added bonus!! Well done Kate & the team ❤️

Never order their halloumi fries — leprechaun-size portion of oily and soggy fries for £6.79. Nice period interior and great tap beers though.

The interior decoration is classic with beautiful glass windows, and the seating area is comfortable and cozy. The drink selections and food quality are just normal.

    Lovely old pub.

  • 3/5 Paul J. 4 years ago on Google
Just an average pub. Grungy but not in an intentional “hip” way, more just needing some TLC. Purity Longhorn, normally a favourite, wasn’t the best example. For some reason they were playing the sound from the rugby that was on through the Projector speaker itself so just a tinny, swarm of wasps annoying background noise. Classic old style tavern building though so worth a look.

Hosted my moms 60th birthday party in the private function room. As soon as we viewed the room we fell for its decor, intimate vibe and lay out. It was a perfect setting for our small family function. Kate was amazing and so helpful, she made us feel welcome straight away (shes also part of the reason we choose the venue). On the day the staff were so helpful and accommodated all our needs. The bar staff were lovely and friendly, they were a great vibe during the night. Can't thank you all enough, we will definitely be using this venue for future events.

Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere. Surprisingly cheap for a pub in the Jewellery Quarter, with good portions. Service is fast and the staff are friendly. Thank you!

Lovely pub, best open mic in the area. Show up around 8 on a Thursday to get a good seat and enjoy the atmosphere. Lovely environment and bar staff, well priced pints.

Strange venue in Birmingham. Despite two staff on and probably only 10 guests downstairs, the two bar staff were seemingly either unhelpful or unaware of the private party in the upstairs function room. Toilets were some of the worst I've seen with locks hanging off the wall, no toilet paper, water all over the floor and in general just screaming for a good scrub. Such a shame as it could be lovely with a bit of TLC and staff who care.

Under new management. It hasn't changed much inside, which is a great thing, since it's a very pretty pub. We came in at lunch time for a pint and a bite to eat. We were very warmly welcomed as we arrived and the staff and owners were absolutely lovely. I had a burger, which was one of the tastiest burgers I have had in quite some time. The menu consisted of small plates with a wide selection, including vegan options and some classics such as burgers, Mac and cheese and steak frites. Would definitely recommend for a session or a lunchtime bite and a pint. Give them your custom to keep places like this going!

We visited on a really busy Saturday night in January (a notoriously quiet month - but not at the Rose Villa Tavern). The new management are really great, they made us feel so welcomed, the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious! Highly recommend

One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham! The decor, the drinks, the food and the staff all make this a wonderful place to be. Also love the quiz nights they hold here. Overall 10/10 good vibes!

Danielle and the staff are ever so lovely! Me and my roommate love coming into the rose villa for a cheeky pint or even a strawberry woo woo after work and uni! It’s so friendly and fun I think a lot of people forget that the JQ is in a city so therefore you will have to pay city prices for pint. Even though the pub may feel all warm and cozy like a local country side pub it is in the city so a pint is going to cost you £6-7. This isn’t at the fault of the owners. If you want a cheap pint I suggest building a time machine back to the 70s or travel to a small country side pub. Anyways. The rose villa is always buzzing with lovely stuff and great tunes! One thing I was say is that I did wait 40 minutes for my food and when I went up to ask where it was it came within seconds but was rather cold. But I think this will be due to it being a busy Saturday and sometimes staff forget. But they where more than apologetic and lovely about it. In the grand scheme of things it’s worth the money and they host fun nights. It’s worth the pop in after a long day at work or even a long day of shopping for sparkly things!

Beautiful old pub in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter with a large central bar with various cosy nooks dotted around it. Plenty of original tiling and the windows look fantastic with the sun streaming through them in the late afternoon. Decent pint of Guinness from efficient staff working well with a busy bar

Good covid measures in place but still very friendly with it unlike some rude neighbouring pubs! Table service spot on, good selection of drinks and bar snacks. Went in twice in one afternoon!

5 star service and surroundings, but the Wainwright bitter, chips and burgers were average. The spiced chicken dish was good. Brenna - Thanks for the reply. By average, I meant the taste of the bacon cheese, bacon cheese was lacking in flavour. Also we I think we only got 1 lot of bacon cheese and not the 2nd round. I think the market for burgers is very competitive right now and for a repeat visit, especially the burgers need to be on top form. Burgers, like any food, are an individual choice, so it's good that the majority like them.

Superb olde style pub with lots of features and quirks that will interest everyone. Wide range of ales and spirits on offer with excellent service to go with it, chicken wings were delicious and the old phone box & penny table are amazing. Well worth a visit.

The place is great but the locals are not to my taste. Used to be great but the last few times I've gone, there's been people trying to cause beef. Maybe it'll be great again but for now it's a no from me Edit - 1 year later. It's still a no from me

When I called in this afternoon (05/09/20) the gents toilets were in a truly disgusting state with flies everywhere (despite an ‘hourly’ toilet clean rota on the wall). One loo had had a pint glass thrown down it. Add to that: I was short changed and my drink was short-measured. All I can say is thank christ I wasn’t eating there.
