Great place with a wonderful hospitality. I was visiting Birmingham as a tourist when I decided to visit the resturant. Ambience The first thing I noticed was that the resturant was together with the bar. Although there was a nice aura around the place, I would have loved the resturant to be separated from the bar as the loud music from the bar disturbed my conversation with my date. We had to shout to hear each other. Service/Hospitality I especially loved the service of the staff. My partner is gluten intolerant and the personal touch to the service from the manager and staff was brilliant. I didn't think twice to pay the £5 service charge I top of the bill. Quality of the food and price The quality of the food was amazing. For starters, we had the bbq ribs. It could have been allowed to cook for a little longer as the meat didn't fall of the bones as expected. It did taste amazing though (I had finished eating before I realised I didn't take a picture 😅. I am a huge seafood fan, so a little mistake can put me off. I ordered the teriyaki salmon and loved that it was well done. The prices are reasonable. With £20 you will get a decent meal.

Absolutely amazing experience. Never had brunch before so was surprised how often they bring cocktails out. You never have to wait for refills they come continuously. The food lovely nice and hot well presented. The staff are helpful friendly and always at hand if you need them. Our waitress was called Beatrice she was one of the best.!! So friendly always asking if we were ok or needed anything. Two of our party were celebrating birthdays so they sang happy birthday and done this amazing thing with fire right at your table. Will definitely go again and recommend it to anyone.

Big thanks to Alyssa (who deserves a pay rise!) for making my brothers birthday special! And for being so sweet with every single visit. For going out of her way to make your night feel special. The food was lovely and great for the price. And so were the drinks (which were on fire 🔥!) Beautiful restaurant design, it's so unique and magical. All the staff are super polite. I 100% recommend. Amazing place with great food and drink options. It has a lovely magic/witchcraft decoration and a nice view of the canal. We tried the bottomless brunch which was delicious and affordable, and the service was great too. Everyone was very polite and easy-going. The bar tender -a Portuguese young man- was very friendly and took his time showing us the menu. And our waitress, Karolina, was the best; our glasses were always filled and she was super polite, friendly, and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely come back.

We came last week and had a wonderful experience and the drinks were delicious especially the deadly elixir. Our server Alyssa was attentive and enthusiastic, a joy to have around bringing our food and drinks. Our bartender Charlie was hilarious and skilful, putting time and effort into our drinks. Wonderful place will happily come back again 🥰

Wow! What an absolute find in the heart of Birmingham city centre. The former home of the Oriental restaurant has been upscaled with the new kid on the block, Aluna. Service was incredible from the moment we called where they called us back at our request, with offers of earlier tables that had cancelled. The food is off the scale excellent with some incredible Asian Fusion dishes that are a twist on Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisines. Try the red duck curry if you like it hot and spicy. The tiger prawns balls starters were incredible. The steak was special. The cocktails and mocktails are a spectacle with many things going alight around us. Highly recommend. Be prepared to splurge.

A lovely bottomless prosecco brunch with excellent service. We were seated within five minutes of our arrival, and drinks were bought over almost immediately. Our orders were then taken and prepared within ten to fifteen minutes. The meals were simple but excellently made and seasoned with a couple of vegetarian options and one vegan option available for each of the two courses. We didn't have to ask for anything, the staff were attentive in terms of replenishing drinks and courses. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something a little special on the weekend in Birmingham city centre

Aluna has well-priced food and show-stopping drinks. Perfect for a simple night-out, or a birthday party. I would highly recommend Aluna.

The decor and atmosphere were really nice staff were also very friendly. The service was not the quickest as there were long gaps between courses. The food that I had was the Beef starter which was relatively tasty myself and my wife both had the Teriyaki Salmon which was rather bland it was served with jasmine rice which was ok. All in all I found the food that I had quite average which leaves the question would i go back to give them a second chance..... maybe but not any time soon as there is much better competition for my money such as Tatu and Siamias who both have much better food. To end on a positive point the cocktails are very nice and if you pick the right one there is some neat tricks the waiter can do with them.

This New York City establishment is an old school oasis in the trendiest city in the world. Sip martinis while enjoying jazz from a by gone era. Do not miss this one. Just be aware prices are sky high. But the bar snacks are great. Enjoy the charm of a real New York City landmark. It is a RULE that you cannot wear shorts or SWEATPANTS. Have fun.

I’ve been going here a couple of times a year since 2012. The music ain’t what it used to be, the cocktails are now prepared like it’s a fraternity party, the wait staff could not care less, and the “Maître-d’” can’t keep anything straight. I really want to like this iconic establishment, but it gets harder every time I go back...

Good cocktails and atmosphere but hate when you are forced to pre order to eat and to force us out in 40 minutes after our meal was served was kind of impolite. The waitress was really good but when you have a system pushing you, you make the guests uncomfortable even if you are good at your job. Couple of cocktails lost, couple of drinks wrong delivered, salmon was dry and a chaotic situation in general.I think 3/5 is deserved for the night even though there are potential for this place and the vibe was nice

We had a wonderful bottomless brunch here for our hen day celebrations. The food was excellent but the waitress we had at the beginning did not previously read our allergies or pre-booking information and we felt this was a bit disappointing. Thankfully, Melina sorted us all out and her service and smile was faultless. Thank you Melina. We would definitely return again.

Cocktails and food was amazing. Service was a little slow to start with but I suspect this was due to it being a Sunday. It sped up once we were seated and Jade was fantastic.

Inefficient booking system. Aluna's website actually allows you to select and send "enquiries" through for days that they are fully booked - unlike every other restaurant that will NOT even allow you to click on a date, if they have no availability for a booking. This means that you assume you have a booking until reading the fine print on the initial confirmation email to state it is merely an "enquiry". In addition to this, you have to wait 48 hours to get confirmation on whether or not the reservation has been made, by this time, the date you may have been enquiring about has long passed. Completely pointless. In summary, I recommend calling the restaurant directly for a booking or making your reservations far enough in advance to avoid disappointment. On a more positive note, when visiting Aluna previously, the food and drinks have been good. Hope this helps :)

This place is fun. It is well decorated and the drinks are thoughtful and fancy. This experience will come at higher prices, though. But if you like drinks that come in Crystal skulls and are lit on fire or have perhaps always wondered what dry ice would look like in a cocktail then you won't want to miss Aluna.

Though pricey, this is a fabulous cocktail bar. The drinks are extremely creative and presented with excellent showmanship. "Discorange" is probably the tastiest cocktail I've ever had. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar as well--great decor with a cohesive theme celebrating libations. The food we had to accompany the drinks was very tasty, as well. I agree with other reviewers that this place is a little too expensive to be a regular hangout, but it's well worth a visit for out of towners or for a special date night.

Outdoor heaters are fantastic and the service was great! However, the alcoholic cocktails are over prices for having little to no alcohol in it. I spent around £13 for a cocktail i believe to be called the Zombie but it was very weak.. despite that I ordered another type of drink called the Lava lamp or something but that tasted like tango more than anything. Iv.e been too many cocktail bars and unfortunately the cocktails are very weak but they are creative which is fun.

Known this place for a number of years. Alway try and visit when in town. Now a must visit. Take a step back, look at the general manager. He's an absolute pro and runs the floor (food and drinks) like an absolute boss. Eminently knowledgeable bar staff who know their stuff.

The adorable illustrations all over the walls by the bar’s namesake (who illustrated Madeleine) plus dim lighting was enough for me! Beautiful feel place. If you’re cover charge averse (but seriously guys show some love to the musos) check their website for times when this applies - but we saw at it as a very reasonably priced jazz performance ($25 for table, $15 at the bar) - the Earl Rose Trio were beautiful!!

Drinks are fantastic and if you don't know what you want this asked the bartender and they will not steer you wrong. Even the appetizers are just amazing a must try will definitely be back in very impressed on how clean and safe all employees are being.

Great place. They have jazz band playing there, the reason we chose that place. We really enjoyed the music. They have a cover fee to enter. The drinks were very good, although on a pricy side ($25+). The service was great, all the waiters were friendly, helpful and prompt. Overall vibe is very cozy and relaxing. We will be back!

The food was good. How can you go wrong with brisket and mac & cheese? The server was knowledgeable and professional. It was a bit loud, but it was a Friday night, so more of a younger, just getting off work crowd. However, would definitely go there again.

Recently stumbled into this spot after Harvard and stone got too rowdy. Great ambience, friendly staff, and delicious drinks!

Iconic bar at The Carlyle with prices to match. In other words, just because you're located on Madison Avenue doesn't necessarily give you the right to grossly overcharge for drinks. However, it's NYC where everyone is used to overpaying for the same drink one gets at any neighborhood bar and would think that for the prices they charge and the place's self-proclaimed pretentiousness they would serve their drinks in glasses commensurate with the cost, but of course they don't (although, to be fair the glasses are a bit nicer than those at other places). To add insult to injury they charged a $15 per person cover charge because there was someone playing piano, which on the particular night I went was nothing more than background music drowned out by the crowd. However, they do have bar peanuts that you can snack on to your heart's content, the quality of which you can find at any country club bar.

Had some really nice cocktails here. Competitive price for the area too. Had to pay a £25 deposit for a table mid week when wasn't busy which was fine but they weren't going to deduct that from the bill if I didn't mention it.

This is a fantastic place for an outing where cocktails are high on the agenda. The ones we did try were great. The staff were friendly and knowledge on the menu and to avoid in terms of drink choices. The food was a little different. Starters were nice, but the mains were bland and did not have the same flavours coming through. This was a miss for me. The restaurant was in the same place as the bar, so it felt like the food was being served in a nightclub! The place is a great but not if you want to eat food and chat without having to shout to be heard. We did have a delay in being seated, but that was soon resolved, and a round of cocktails on the house were provided so great service there.

We were staying at the nearby Indigo Hotel. Stopped into Aluna for a drink... Best Amaretto Sour I've tasted. Very friendly staff. So we returned the next day for afternoon drinks and a snack... Everything still top quality. We asked about nightlife options and the staff mentioned their sister bar - Lulu Wild. We stumbled across it later and gave it a go... Also an excellent venue with great staff. Every single person was smiling and friendly, despite being extremely busy. We returned to Aluna, ostensibly for one more drink, which turned into a large number of drinks. But the atmosphere was excellent. The one niggle, was that there was vomit in the toilet. Someone put a Wet Floor sign over it, but nobody cleaned it up for the whole night. With that many guests, it's important to keep the bathrooms clean throughout the night. Having said that, we had a fantastic time and everything else was superb.

Absolutely brilliant! We came in initially for drinks after a disappointing afternoon tea at a nearby establishment. Really made to feel welcome and ended up having food too which was delicious. Compliments to the chef and his team. The bar men were friendly and it was evident that they enjoy creating cocktails. Our biggest shout out goes to Ninti who was personable, professional and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and she singlehandedly made sure that the rest of our outing was fabulous. Ninti deserves a pay rise! Thank you also to Nico for taking the time to come and speak with us. Definitely recommend 100%!

On entering the atmosphere was superb, great music, warm feeling at the bar and superb service, we were taken to our table and again the service here was second to none. We were served by a lovely young lady called Harshita who was personable, gave great recommendations and was simply a pleasure to be around. The food is absolute top notch, cooked to perfection and no compromise on quality. Nothing more needs to be said here. The cocktails are also fantastic if you’re just there for a drink and would absolutely recommend the Deadly Elixir, when served you get a fiery show before boozing! I came here on the 17th June for bottomless brunch and I can honestly say it was faultless. Food was amazing, and all the staff were so lovely and attentive with drinks. Our server Rayna was amazing. She was so kind to us and made our experience so lovely. She was so helpful with getting us more drinks and letting us know when our last order was. Rayna was so efficient and gave us such excellent service. Thank you for a lovely experience!

I had a delightful meal courtesy of Amrita. She helped me understand the portion sizes (which are not large) and why I should have spicy rice rather than plain rice or fried rice. The atmosphere was great with the upbeat music, a grandma celebrating her 60th, and the view of the canal. I'd recommend a combo of the Papaya-Mango salad with Thai Red Curry Chicken, and of course with spicy rice.

I have been to Aluna before but this is my first time reviewing it in regards to a friend's birthday. It has always had a pleasant atmosphere, quieter than a usual bank holiday but good to be able to converse without shouting over people and music. Service was a bit slow or not attentive at times despite it not being very busy. However, I did enjoy my chilli spinach gyoza 🥟 , spring rolls and the puddin' cocktail. I've had the chocolate orange cocktail before but whoever made it wasn't on par with a previous visit I had. I would revisit.

It was my second time yesterday experiencing the bottomless brunch at Aluna. The first time it was great and raved about it to my friend, who travelled up yesterday from Devon for my 40th brunch! The staff are great & very friendly. However, the food was not up to scratch and the music was SO LOUD, we could hardly hear each other talk. I get it’s for the atmosphere, but it does not need to be so loud. It was the same the first time I went. I kindly asked our server Rayna to see if we could turn it down and her reply was the manager said we can’t and it’s for the atmosphere! Not great service. The cocktails are FAB there and so is the bar and would continue to go just for drinks but not for the brunch!
