The place itself it is very beautiful, but unfortunately doesn't match the food taste and the quality of serving. Aside from our table 2 stafs were kissing during work, when I exited from the restaurant I had to stop and step aside because another staff member was entering and almost crush with us without any apology... just poor experiences. The food it is very average, I been here for more than 5 years now and I never been impressed, sometime the Sunday roast is good, but most of the times is average, as you can see the been is overcooked and the chicken was lacking of flavour. Instead of individual portions with vegetables, because we ordered two portions we ended up with a share platter with vegetables... of course, less than usually. The people that served us were nice and friendly, that was only probably the most positive thing from last visit. Overall, it is better to go there for drinks rather than food, the place look beautiful, but because of the above experiences I gave them a star 🌟 Make it brighter and you might get few more, we will come back.

What a fantastic find! We visited a couple of weeks ago and to say we were pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. The food options were excellent and importantly for us, Vegan 🌱 & Plant Based options were not only plentiful but incredibly tasty too. We will certainly be coming back here again. There’s a lovely view of the canal if you sit outside (who knew Birmingham had more canals than Venice). The staff and servers were excellent and the quality of the food (and drinks) was excellent. Thanks for such a fantastic experience, see you again soon.

Lovely food in a beautiful setting. Great choice of food & drink options and food can be ordered from your table via the QR code. Food was served quickly and was delicious 😋. We were lucky enough to be seated out on the terrace which was beautiful in the sunshine, will definitely return when next in Birmingham!

Came here for an early drink before a concert. The location is superb - quietly on the canal and in the sun al day. At the bar there were 2 people serving and were doing so nicely but casually so it took some time to actually get served, but I was offered to taste the local IPA and Pale Ale in order to get what I liked which was great. It was expensive - being nearly £5 per drink. It was lovely sitting outside with our drinks. Recommend

This was a lovely place to sit and eat, right beside the canal. The inside is bright and airy upstairs, more seating downstairs and you can sit outside with a view of the canal. It was a good menu with different seasonal specials and ways to check the menu for any allergens. The food we had was wonderful and tasty. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Nice vibe, friendly waiters, fast service and good food. What more do you want. Went to canal house as a group. Everyone enjoyed the food. The plant-based burger was great and the fries were seasoned very well 👌🏽 the raspberry and lemon tart was also the perfect finish to a heavy meal; light, sweet and refreshing. will return to try other food on the menu.

Well what a great afternoon was spent at The Canal House. The staff were very attentive and made sure we were looked after. The bars has at least 3 different areas to enjoy, not to mention the outdoor zone on The Gas St Basin. Loved it. It’s been many a year since I’ve been here and hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy the bar again soon!

It's a nice pub which is basically on the canal. So I could enjoy my pint with great look at the canal in the lovely warm weather. The upstairs has pre-booking places for food, downstairs providing nice vibes with music for a free drinkers. Sometimes place gets so busy, very popular to come with some unique selection of beers.

My partner and I celebrated our anniversary last Sunday at the Canal House restaurant. We chose "Salt and pepper onion petals" as an appetizer and it has a subtle flavour but is quite enjoyable. I also had a delicious dessert called "Raspberry and almond frangipane tart", which I highly recommend if you are a berry lover because the raspberry flavour was intense and mouth-watering. However, I found my main course, the beef option of the Sunday roast, disappointing. The beef was not good and I think they should improve it because, in general, it is a lovely restaurant. The staff was very friendly but, maybe because it was a bit busy, the service wasn't as good as I expected.

Great pub with restaurant overlooking the canal. Great choice of beers on tap served properly in correct glasses! Extensive choice of wines and good quality cocktails. The food we had was great my only criticism is the description of the salt pepper chicken wings I thought they would be the crispy fried style. But they was pretty bland as they was grilled. The gravy sauce that accompanied the chicken burgers was excellent. The stuff could be a little more attentive as we had to ask them to clear the table after we had finished mains! And should have checked on us during our meal it just seemed there wasn’t one person looking after our area had to keep getting their attention when we wanted more drinks etc. Although all very friendly. I would recommend this place as it’s beautiful inside with great atmosphere.

Great place! A real identity of Birmingham along the canal. The Canal house gives a very good view of Birmingham. It's a great place to spend an evening with family and friends. An true representation of an English Pub. Loved every moment I spent there and to top it all, the food was great!

What a place! From the booking through to when we left nothing was too much trouble. The venue, was superb, the food was more than good & every single member of staff were excellent. They listened to what we wanted and more than delivered with every request. Cannot recommend this venue highly enough at the best of times but they really made my daughter’s wedding a day to remember. Thank you.

Was recommended to us only 15 mins before entering. Beautiful place you have. Very busy on a Saturday at 4pm, but they found us a table for 2. Service was impeccable, not just from our service but from all staff. Very professional. The only down was the earphones staff have to wear stops a 100% staff service, we often had to say it twice and louder. Would definitely recommend it 👌

Great Sunday Roast. All the meat was properly browned on the outside but still stay succulent. I'd say it's restaurant quality rather than just pub quality. Side platter to share was good value for 4. However, hygiene and ambience needs serious improvement. The menu is wipe-able but when we sat down the menus were filthy. Under the bar was covered in grease, indicating the place needs some deep clean for less-than-visible corners. Crumbs and pet hair were visible on the table we sat down. On top of that, the music was deafening and sounded more for a freshmen's welcoming party than a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I would come back for the roast, but hygiene and ambience were serious deal breakers.

This truly stands out among pubs with its cozy atmosphere, satisfying food options, and incredibly affordable prices. What impressed me the most were their surprisingly good cocktails, adding a touch of sophistication to the overall experience.

Had a great time at the Canal house recently, lovely setting and great decor. Our meals were delicious. Staff were helpful and attentive. The dessert wasn't as good as it could have been compared to the main. But overall a great night.

Great place with nice atmosphere next to the canal. We - group of 4 - were having a place outside and drank beer from different countries that were on draft. Food was good quality, too. Can absolutely recommend The Canal House.

If you don't have a reservation, they try to help you in some way. However, it might be better to book a table before going. Lovely food. I've tried fish and chips at other restaurants, but honestly, this has been the best. Exceptional and friendly service. Good music. It was our first time in Birmingham, and they even recommended different points of interest. Thank you lads! ⭕Bonus: they also have a photo booth, you have to try! 📸 5£ 4 pics and you get them instantly. You get a code to download them, as well if you also want them digitally. Lovely 😍📸

Was in Birmingham for a works meeting and we stopped in here for Dinner. So very pleased we did. Firstly the building is beautiful with a really scenic location. The atmosphere inside was brilliant and the staff fantastic. The Hanging Kebabs are worth every penny and the vegetarian/vegan options are plentiful. If you get a chance check them out as their food and drink are some of the best in the area.

Service was good and the food served quite quickly. The chicken kebab was tasty and so were the fries that come with it but they were like warm, I was part of a large group to be fair and it could be because all the food got brought out at the same time. It's £16.50 for essentially 4 lumps of chicken and a couple of mushrooms on the hanging kebab (see my pictures) so not particularly filling.

Had a great time at the canal house. Greeted by some very friendly staff who were very attentive throughout the visit. The food was served up extremely fast after ordering, impressively so. For atmosphere, the restaurant building itself is stunning, live music was on in the lower level but also hooked up to the speakers so you could hear it clearly in the background while eating. The outside area looked great for the summer, and I will definitely be returning.

I had a fantastic time here! The staff were so nice and accommodating. I went on a crowded Wednesday evening and I was afraid there would be no table availability but they made it happen! I got the katso hanging kebab, which I have never seen before but it was super tasty! One side note is that when I did order the sweet chili chips, the bottom chips were just swimming in sauce which made them a little too overpowering but other than that I had a great time and the decor is super cute as well! I highly recommend for anyone looking for a place to go and sit by the canal for a drink!

An absolutely stunning spot with so much attention to keeping guests cosy, including great heating, cute throws and beautiful lights. We were sitting in what used to be the garden area that has now been redone. The farmhouse/barn kinda vibe against the canalside is perfect for a date night or any kind of friends and family meal. The staff were very pleasant and attentive and there was live music around 7pm also. We tried the Christmas drinks and the cocktails were lush. For food, we ordered the calamari in starters, sharing hanging kebab and cookie dough in pretzel and s'mores option. The sharing kebab portion size was smaller than we hoped for the price and description but the dessert made up for this! Overall, it was a good experience and I will definitely recommend visiting.

We had a wonderful experience at the Pergola this Sunday. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic and had those perfect, cosy vibes you would want going into the festive season! Highly recommend!

Went with 2 friends. Our waitress Anais was friendly helpful and efficient. Food was delicious. Price was acceptable although soft drinks I thought were over priced but delicious.
