My friends & I enjoy going here after work the fixed price meals are great value for money. There's always a good selection & the meals are always served hot. The staff are polite & friendly, & make sure everything is ok. We'll definitely keep going.

Stopped by for dinner in the week. Not many people in but long waits on food due to new chief. Ordered the steak sandwich which came in 20 minutes but with only three small pieces of steak. My colleague had a burger which was much better and he recommended it. Would try again.

Thought twice about popping in here as the last time I visited the experience wasn't great as the lady who was on shift wasn't really approachable and everything seemed like an issue to her. This was last year and I decided to give it one more chance, so decided to pop in for a working lunch. I am so glad i gave this place another chance. The pub looked and felt so much better than the last time I popped in. The new manager Sam was lovely warm and welcoming, and was happy for me to sit and work while enjoying the food and drink which may I add was spot on. Will definitely be returning soon. Would highly recommend popping in if you are passing.

Visited on a Thursday evening and despite how busy it was, service was excellent from start to finish. Bar service was quick and although there was a short wait for food, fully expected given the number of diners, we were advised in advance. Worlds apart from the last time we visited and I'm so glad as we really like the place. The only thing that would make it complete is for the brewery to put their hands in their pocket and invest in a refurb. Come on M&B! Thanks Sam and the team!

Food was ok nothing special at a decent price. The atmosphere was non existent and my partner and I were very aware of the fact that we were being stared at from the moment we walked through the door. Was actually one of the most awkward meals I’ve even had we almost didn’t even eat there.

Me and my sister used app the food come prompt, very hot ,the duo roast was lovely plenty .

My friend has been here a few times in the past and she invited me for lunch on Thursday. We ate off the set menu that ran until 5pm. Really good value. I had the beer battered mushrooms, a good sized portion, tasty and freshly made, watch out for the eruption of mushroom juice when you bite or cut into them. My main was the fish and chips - good sized fish, well cooked. To finish I had the apple crumble pie with custard, lovely. Really the first 2 courses I was full. Will definitely be returning. They do the Meerkat 25% off but not on that value menu that was already reasonably priced.

A nice relaxing visit to The Dog this afternoon just for a quick drink while passing by. Food - I did not eat here today, but on previous recent visit found it to be tasty with plenty to choose from. Drink - Served just right, cold and fresh just how it should be. Atmosphere - Background music not too loud as to can't think, and not too quiet that can here other peoples conversations. Just right! Nice theme to the place, with loads of space in the beer garden. There are a few bits that could do with a little attention - nothing can't fix with a bit of paint and maybe an overhaul on the toilets is due. Not enough to impact on my 5* rating / feedback on the place though - just observation. Staff - Quick service at the bar, all seem happy and attentive. No problems at all. Family and solo visitor friendly pub - look forward to returning!

We enjoyed a lovely Christmas meal at The Dog with our friend. There was a varied selection on the Christmas menu to choose from with something to suit most tastes. To start, two of us choose the very tasty parsnip soup while the other had the prawn cocktail. For the main I had the vegetarian spinach and mushroom wellington and the others choose the turkey. The portions were generous but we all cleared our plates as everything tasted superb. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try the desserts as we were too full!

The team at The Dog has been great the last three times we've been here. the manager Sam has built a great team. We bring our USA family every time they come to visit. Food is good, staff is friendly and great value for money!

The Dog looks lovely and is so cosy after the recent refurbishment. The food was great and have some good deals on. Sam was really accommodating and friendly and made sure our fire didn’t go out lol! Will definitely be coming back more often! X

Only called in for a quick drink, was astounded by the sheen on the tables, great craftsmanship. The toilet roll is individual sheets and made me question my wreckless ways at home. A nice pub, I liked it

Amazing service. Dog friendly pub :) Meals were mid and we waited about 30-40 minutes. Bacon was burnt, egg wasn't fully cooked and considering how much food was given, the price is ridiculous.

Is nice old pub with terrace and good traditional menu,big parking,large portions of food and cool drinks. Friday you can relax with DJ and dance. But it is a little dirty and tables not cleaned. Wish you better cleaning and much more clients 🫣❤️ Like you ❤️

Found ourselves in The Dog this Christmas Eve…which was a lovely change from what we’ve done in previous years! We arrived about 12:30 lunchtime and it was already lively. Staff seemed very happy to serve us (party of about 20) and the place was busy and had a great atmosphere! Some of the party ordered some food to nibble on (rather than a full meal) which was served quickly! Unfortunately, due to other plans, we didn’t stay until the disco later in the evening (left about 5.30) but given the buzz this would have been a great evening! Everyone commented they had a great time and we will definitely be back!

I booked a family meal here and had a great time. The table was ready when we arrived and the staff went out of there way, no request was too much hassle for them as do have a few fussy eaters, the food was excellent and so well cooked and quickly delivered. I will be coming back for plenty of occasions. 10/10

Recently returned since they had a refurb and can honestly say that it was a much better experience. Food was excellent and Sam was the one that served us, she was really welcoming, bought our food to the table and we watched how she interacted with other tables and everyone was served as an individual and not a customer. The service that she gave us was exceptional because we also had our 2 year old with us and she was so generous and gentle with him which we really appreciated. Thank you to all the staff though. Brilliant service throughout our time there this afternoon

Brilliant pub really nice had a pre birthday meal in there on the 27th April for my wife will definitely be going back and the food was lovely too

Booked in for Sunday lunch yesterday and received the most pleasant, friendly service ever. The atmosphere here is lovely and the staff are just so decent. It's obvious that the manager has hand picked all her staff for good reason. Food is fab. Plenty of choice of ales at the bar. Winner 🏆

Would like to say a huge thank you today for 5 star service and gorgeous food. We came for a meeting of mutual friends celebrating a very special lady . After the top slice of my bread being a bit dry you swapped it no bother . Absolutely fantastic 👏 would highly recommend you to anybody wanting fab place to meet up in Birmingham. Great place to bring a puppy with a designated area for dogs and their owners! Friendly staff and customers. Vegan food was extremely dried out, but we did appreciate that there was a designated menu

Thank you for being so accommodating and welcoming to our big group of 12 adults plus lots of children. The staff were so friendly and although I offered to tidy up after (we left some wrapping paper and some napkins from a drink spillage) they absolutely wouldn't hear of it and just said they hoped we had a nice time. Food was decent and nice glass of wine too. The staff were coping with extra pressure due to supply issues with food so we were especially impressed at their lovely welcome.

Food was excellent and was a good price. Staff, in particular Martin, were warm and friendly, a very relaxed, pleasant atmosphere prevailed throughout. Very well done to all concerned.

Spacious pub with lively atmosphere! Went there with work colleagues. Knocked one star off as they had no selection of mocktails (as I was meant to be behind the wheel). Haven't tried their food so can't comment - menu was nice. Maybe will try next time. Overall, great pub

One of the best pubs in the area and good stop off after a visit to Lightwoods park or stroll around afterwards to walk the food off! We visit quite regularly and sometimes the customer service is top notch and then other times there's a funny atmosphere. Music sometimes off or down low or the staff are stretched doesn't help I suppose. Also feels nicer to visit in the winter when the real fires are lit! One of the more pricier pubs in the area for drinks, the food, drinks and visits are usually very good and recommend. Only grumble with the food is I wish theyd have decent bread and mens toilets are usually ropey. Brunch is great here also but recommend The Dog if you're in the area.

I visit this pub every time I'm in the area, and always have good service. The food is standard pub grub. It can be a little hit and miss at times, but never terrible. The pub always has a nice atmosphere too. I will be returning.

Had a great night the other day! They had the DJ in, we came a little earlier and had something to eat. Great dinner, the staff were really friendly and it was great fun when the DJ started. Absolutely fantastic night, will definitely be coming down next time.

Super friendly staff, well-kept beers, and a charming beer garden. Other customers seemed to be enjoying their food - will definitely come back to try myself. I heartily recommend to others for a warm, friendly place to drink with friends

Friendly, pleasant staff and did a great job considering they got busy for a Tuesday lunch! Food came out promptly and was good quality especially for the price! I give special mention to the poor chef on his own knocking out all those plates of food, well done!

I came here after a big dog walk with my puppy and was made to feel extremely welcome by the two women managers who greeted me. They were so lovely to my dog ( who isn’t the most friendly looking), gave him water and treats and went above and beyond to look after us. I was so grateful for their hospitality and really appreciate what they did for us!
