It is a nice place for have fun and drink. However , the Dj who performs on Saturdays night is so so annoying. He just makes annoying voice and tries his best to disturb you so that you have no choice but to leave the place. I would not recommend this place on Saturdays night just because of the Dj. Apart from that it is a nice place for food, drink with the approachable and nice staff.

Found this place by accident. The meals we had were really lovely. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Only draw back was the music was far too loud.

I have been a regular here for a while and have become a familiar face with bar and security staff. Unfortunately due to one security guard (not sure of her name, she wears glasses) it has made me feel uncomfortable. There has been a few occasions she has been abrupt and blunt, I’ve just always ignored her and carried on enjoying my night. However this time, she took it upon herself to ignore the price the promoter (young lad) gave to our group to encourage us to come in. She over charged our group and we didn’t realise until we had gone inside. I then went to speak to the promoter and explained we got over charged, he spoke to her and she went out of her way to come over to me and be rude! This actually really took me back and the other staff could see this. One of the other security guards (always has her hair in a bun) was really helpful and diffused the situation straight away. She put me at ease and made me feel comfortable enough to stay there. Understandably security guards have a job to do, but this does not mean they have the right to be rude to customers continuously. All the other staff there are so nice and welcoming and have set the standard. I went recently when that security guard wasn’t on shift out of chance. Honestly the atmosphere felt completely changed and relaxed!

Went here for a company event and it was awesome! Music was great and bartenders were fast and efficient. Would definitely recommend this place for a private event. Would love to visit again on a random night and check it out.

Absolutely rubbish! The security and door staff were TERRIBLE, were letting in everyone with trainers including someone from our party but picked on one friend and told her hers weren't suitable even though they were designer unlike others, she was happy to put heels on and stick trainers in the cloak room but they also didn't allow this, whilst constantly being really rude. I explained we had come from London and had bought tickets but they still didn't want to hear it until I grabbed a manager who then had to beg his own staff to allow this, whilst someone in our party got in with old 'Vans'. The DJ was a shambles and kept playing the same songs over and over, the place was a mess and being some of the first in the floor was so sticky you couldn't walk its as though it hadn't been cleaned for weeks. Bar staff standing around talking whilst customers are waiting to get served. Truly terrible experience. Left sober and annoyed.

A good club to go to if you're into hip-hop, R&B or bashment music. Drinks are pricey on a Saturday but this is to be expected

Has the potential to be a great club, but the disgusting attitude of the security staff let it down immensely. Don't waste your time and money...

DJ shouts into the microphone so terribly loud that you feel like your ears are bleeding. That is the only minus point at this place which is unfortunately awfully affecting (hence the 2 stars) everything else which is fantastic: Reasonable prices, great cocktails and drinks, friendly and nice staff, beautiful decoration and lights, really nice large screens for watching matches, variety of seatings all around, good music, and a dance floor. We come here quite often and unfortunately have to leave when that one DJ kicks in. I don’t know his name. He is a black guy and even though I like his choice of music, he just shouts stuff into the mic that’s extremely annoying. I saw the reviews some other people mentioned this as well. So maybe you could do something about it and have a different DJ. There was a few times a female DJ who was amazing.

I've been here a few times and loved it. On my last visit, I'd had far too much to drink, and even though I'm embarrassed to say I fell asleep downstairs sat on the sofa, the reason I'm sharing this is to say how kind and caring the female security officer was, not only did she deal us respectfully, she ensured we got in a taxi to get us safely back to our hotel- I promise not to drink so much next time and hope I get chance to thank her in person for being so lovely

Decent bar and some nice cocktails. They have a good outside area that is sheltered. I've been in a few times and the atmosphere is always good. More recently they had the rugby on and the place was buzzing. They have loads of high quality screens if sport is your thing. It would be a good place to watch some football. They seemed to be bringing food out every 2 minutes and it looked delicious, although I've not eaten here. Probably one of the better bars on Broad Street in my opinion.

Went Sat 6/8/22 at around 4pm. Well what a much needed cheerful, warm and fun atmosphere. After the disappointment of heidis next door it was like a shock that next door could be SO different! The staff were a delight. Speedy, welcoming, happy and very courteous. We ordered a lot of drink, some lovely food and enjoyed every minute. Would definitely recommend and will be getting a revisit for sure from family and friends. Well done staff 👍

1st time visiting the velvet music rooms. I had a drink here whilst waiting for my wife who was working just up the road from it. It has a really good feel and friendly staff. We also had a bite to eat there and I couldn't fault the food

This is a beautiful place. Good design. Standard selection of drinks. But something is wrong with music, no classical club hits, too fast track change. They can do better

I have visited this club a handful of times over years and I can safely say I will never be visiting again. After an amazing night spent celebrating my friends 40th it ended with me being verbally and physically abused by the manager who I believe is called Steve. Upon arrival I handed my coat across the bar along with my friends coat and was given two tickets in return. At the end of the night I handed over both tickets to a member of staff who only came back with my friends coat and another coat which was not mine. I described my coat and he went back again to look but came back still unable to find it. He invited me to follow him to try to locate my coat. I instantly spotted my coat hung up, “Steve” aggressively approached me saying I wasn’t allowed in the back. As I tried explaining that the guy allowed me to come in to try and find my coat, I reached out for my coat to take it off the hanger, he grabbed me with great force, twisted my arm and pushed me out of the door yelling get this ‘f’ing c**t out of here’. I could not believe this was the treatment I received just because I wanted to get my coat at the end of the night. I have in turn suffered with body bruises which I have images of and reported to the police. Thank you to the security staff who took their time to see if I was ok and apologised on behalf of this vulgar individual. Steve maybe you should take a leaf out of their book of professionalism and courtesy. I do not recommend visiting this venue!!!

Very good venue early in the evening, live music, good beer and a decent meal for only £5, later on in the evening it changed to a very poor disco.

I called in here a few days ago to film the Birmingham jazz festival. I have been back four times. It is a wonderful atmosphere, a truly remarkable experience, friendly staff, good prices, great people here always very friendly, by far the best venue in Birmingham and probably the best I’ve ever been to in my lifetime and I’m not a young man. Congratulations velvet music rooms. You are wonderful and I do appreciate that you allow people to film without having to worry about being told not to. You have created the perfect place for one to go. I would also like to point out that the level of music you have had here over the last week for the Birmingham jazz festival is truly remarkable. I was a professional singer for many years and I can say I am taken aback by the stunning performances I have seen in the last few days.

Where can I start with this amazing place! Such a lively and fun place to be in on a weekend. Great atmosphere with even better staff! They are all so hard working, professional and make the place very welcoming and safe. Nothing is too much to ask for from the moment you step through the door; wether its for just some of their delicious food and amazing cocktails or to dance the night away to the best music, i can say you wont be left disappointed. The staff have amazing hosting skills, and the managers are always there to make sure that team are doing their jobs well and are offering the best service and experience possible! A special shout out to the manager Steve who I can personally say is fab at his job and is a very friendly person and he will certainly make your visit at the establishment the best it can be! All in all, velvet music rooms is a place I consider to be one of the best spots on broad street, and I will always pop in for a good night knowing I will be looked after well by both staff and managers! Don’t miss out on visiting velvet music rooms when in Birmingham!

Have passed this place many times but only recently visited during Birmingham jazz festival. Loved the music vibe, it's unusual to go to a bar that has live music of varying types. The recorded music is different to what I expected too. The only issue is if you want to listen to the music away from normal bar noise I suggest sitting near to the stage as some other noise can be distracting. Food looked nice with a reasonable choice but on this occasion we didn't eat. Will visit again.

I have visited Velvet Music rooms on numerous occasions and every time I've been, the staff have treated me like a Queen. I usually go for my birthday and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff are fantastic but special mention goes to the managers, Steve Emmison and Akila Springer who treat me so well, almost like family, they give me such a special welcome it's fantastic. I'm sure they treat all guests this way, that's why they return. If you are looking for a fantastic night out, head to Velvet Music rooms, you won't be disappointed! xx

Awesome. I have been attending velvet now for 1 year each time I visit Birmingham i have to step out on a Saturday night to Velvet. Night life in London is always known to be the best. I never thought i would find a place in Birmingham. Until i was approached by Velvet promoters. Theo and Ria. This has to be the best place to party in Birmingham for me and my mate. The manager steve is so down to earth, honestly he is a great guy. Then we have the security team. I have to say if it was not for Ang, Sal, and the amazing compliance manager Malik, i would not go there. They welcome you every time. What a humble, relaxed team they are. Most security/bouncers are horrid with attitude and miserable, but not these 3. They are a credit to Velvet. Ang is the one who shines like a star. For a female bouncer she is one of the best, beautiful with no attitude, always bubbly and welcoming. She always Makes us women feel good about ourselves and safe. The bouncers i have mentioned always go above and beyond to accommodate you. They make us feel safe and comfortable each time we attend a night out there.absolutely love these 3. I also want to mention the promotion team lil cutie theo and his smile, Ria with her bubbly self. These 2 always know how to get the vibes rolling never let you down and extremely helpful.I would recommend anyone who is looking to have a great night out to go Velvet, music is bang on too. Rnb Hiphop, afro beats good mix. The vibes of this place makes it a good night what makes this place is the team and the phenomenal customer service

We came up from London for a weekend in Birmingham. We were approached by a female bouncer, can’t remember her name but she was mixed race and wore a bun on her head. She approached us to go into velvet. She was extremely nice; down to earth- rare to find a bouncer like that these days. Once we went in, music was good and we loved the atmosphere and vibe. We had a great night out and definitely be coming back again for a night out. 🙌🙌

Abysmal. Not one to write reviews, which speaks for itself. Booked in for a Dining reservation weeks in advance. Was shown to a cramped barrel, with 4 stools around (higher than the barrel we were expected to eat off). Music which was so loud my partner and I had to shout to even have a conversation, was turned off in favour for football commentary (at a similar volume), which made the situation even worse. Was provided coupons in return for the booking deposit, which weren't explained to us at all. Upon asking one of the staff on how the coupons work, he was confused and asked if we'd not had it explained to us. We hadn't and he informed us that it's only valid on the first order we make, which is ridiculous, as he was well aware we had already ordered... The waiter themselves, serving only 3 tables, forgot what we ordered, and recommended us the same drinks he'd provided not less than 30 minutes ago. They kept interrupting us, made inappropriate jokes, and made the entire awful experience even more uncomfortable. Couldn't stand being there a second longer, we left as soon as we finished our second set of overpriced drinks, and the waiter was rude on the way out. Perfect night out if you're into being degraded and feel like you deserve an awful experience. If you're sane though, steer clear.

Disgusted by the male an female security staff there jobs are a joke the male security dancing with vulnerable girls and female staff dangerously dealing with drunk situations it's appalling. So be aware if u go sugar suites there's no security I would sack the lot

An amazing place and venue at Velvet Music Rooms on Broad Street. I've been here a few times since the pandemic and they have really done themselves well. You wont get a safer venue on Broad Street, where the staff are friendly and inviting. I cannot wait to return and book a table for when the covid rules are lifted and normality is back. A massive thank you to all the staff and hard working managers.

I was just taking a walk down Broad St and decided to pop by here to have lunch. I have to say, I am a big fan of pub meals. And this is the one of the best pub meals I've had on a long long time. Michael was friendly and other staff were too. We ordered mushroom and chicken pie and beef brisket burger. The one and only drawback with the burger was that the patty was quite well done. And it was quite a rock solid to bite as well. But apart from that the meal was just mind blowing.

Spent an evening in The Velvet Music Rooms on a weekend break to Birmingham. Great place with reasonably priced drinks and great prices on food. Large cocktail list with some that pack a punch and are a must try! All the bar staff are super friendly and make you feel welcome. All the door staff do a great job making you feel safe, Ria one of the door staff was great directing me at the end of the evening after sampling probably a few too many of their cocktails! Lots of TV’s for sports through the day then great music and dancing in the evening. Great work guys!
