I can see why it's popular, however the wife and I thought the same about what would have made it more enjoyable. We sat upstairs in what would be a very pleasant and warm setting but the room was dominated by rather large flat screen. Not a problem if West Ham v Leicester is of interest to you. I have no idea what they put on at other times. The service is friendly and efficient but I believe they were a "man down" which made it difficult for them. Our Sunday lunch meal was good, apart from the beef which was a bit rubbery and the frozen roast potatoes which were hard, dry and over seasoned. I strongly suggest these need to be replaced. Generous portions and a nice mix of vegetables hidden under the meat and Yorkshire made up for any short comings.

Great place for a Sunday roast best to book in advance as you will get better seating. The portions are big and very taste with lots side options to have along side your roast. Plenty of drinks on draught.

Great independent local pub in the Jewellery Quarter. Nice atmosphere and a beer garden out the back. Good quality food and a selection of beers too

Visited for Sunday Lunch today and was blown away by both the quality of the food and the fantastic service received from the team there. I had a dietary requirement which they were very attentive of, checking the ingredients were OK for me. Everyone who served us were friendly and made us feel so welcome. The whole experience was up there with the best dining and service experiences I've had. Big thank you to the team there. Visit 27th March 2022.

I went on Sunday 20th August for lunch, with family. The service was dire. We ordered the roast belly pork and were asked to let the barman know where we were sitting. We found a table and I went back to the bar to inform them. There were 2 barmen and neither seemed attentive. After 20 minutes my cousin said I should go and check if they've placed our order as people were coming in after us, carrying wooden spoons with numbers on. Anyway they hadn't placed the order and we waited an hour for our meal. It wasn't busy but these guys either didn't know what they were doing or didn't care. There was a third guy who appeared to be bringing meals out and he seemed a lot more pleasant, helpful and 'on the ball'. The meal thankfully was superb apart from the roast potatoes which were quite tasteless. Gorgeous belly pork, large Yorkshire Pud, ample variety of veg and great gravy with apple sauce. We will go again but will find a table before ordering. Poor wine selection. Great value for £15

More than what it looks. Get past the traditional looking local atmosphere of the front and back room and out to the garden areas. Quite quiet for a Sunday lunch and only a handful of people serving with only one behind the bar. Some food too a little longer than others meaning a couple had finished but just put this down to understaffed rather than skill or no care in service! The food was absolutely fantastic and massive portions as well, a really good pork belly and beef and chicken were also good. I barely finished my plate there was so much, would definitely come again.

Oh dear. What has happened to this little gem? Having moved out of the area it was our first visit back to what was a regular haunt pre COVID. Cosmetically nothings changed but where have the real ales gone? Sunday lunch was OK, but not as good as it used to be. There were a few people in the outdoor area but hardly anyone inside. Laine Pubs, you've turned it into something it was never meant to be. Such a shame.

A great cozy pub with great food, pretty traditional pub menu. The food is consistently cooked to a high standard and reasonably priced. Has a nice garden out back and board games are available in the back room.

Went in with my chi and my bicycle and friends. They kindly allowed us to bring our bikes in and didn't mind my well behaved dog who I had in a carrier on my tummy. Now the food!!! Perfection. Every aspect of my chicken roast was superb! Staff were super efficient and friendly. Could have spent the whole afternoon here wiling away the hours. Outside space was spot on.. both upstairs and down. Loved the Boho decor We will be back.

Booked a table for a Sunday roast specifically - as requested when selecting which menu for the booking. Upon arrival we were showed to our table, which hadn’t been cleaned yet. Once that was sorted we waited about 15 mins for someone to come and take our order. I asked for the duo of beef, to be told they were out of the duo. I then asked for the sirloin roast, to be told there was no sirloin. The waiter then left to see what was substituted in the trio and when he returned stated they were out of roasts completely. Very frustrating that this wasn’t conveyed straight off the bat when we arrived and baffling that a pub could be out of the roast on a Sunday; The one day when you would surely endeavour to make sure that you had ample stock. Suffice to say, we left, feeling very disappointed and frustrated. A waste of time and a waste of petrol.

Wow, a Sunday roast to travel for, staff are friendly and welcoming, if I could travel 100+ miles every Sunday for a roast like this I definitely would, quality and quantity was worth every pound. I look forward trying there daily menu when I'm next in town.

Their Sunday roasts are the best in Birmingham and one of the best ive ever had. Fairly priced and you get loads for your money. Good for a cheeky pint too.

Nice beer garden but very expensive drinks. Was there on a Saturday evening had one drink, very quiet perhaps with inflation now dropping places will begin to drop their prices to get people coming back in.

We stayed in Birmingham for only one night and our host recommend this local pub. We were so glad we came to the Red Lion. The food is so nice, very tasty and lovely staff. Also the price is very reasonable. Love it.

Good prices for the Jewellery Quarter. Food was great - tasty, good portions but not overly huge. Lunch offer is worthwhile. Friendly staff - helpful, not intrusive. Outside area is large and clean.

Quality little boozer, friendly staff and fantastic beer garden. Decent selection of drinks, good for watching the footy too. Didn't eat here but food looked amazing too, shout out to Jack behind the bar for his excellent service and friendly style, all other bar staff were excellent too just never got their name. Top 3 pub I've been to while working away.

Was recommended as somewhere to eat, tbh without that I would have walked straight by and not gone in, barstaff very friendly and food was some of the nicest I've had, better than alot of so called restaurants 6*

Turned up after booking for the Sunday roast really disappointed after waiting about 30mins to even get served a drink when our lamb roast came out was served with chips no Yorkshire no roast potatoes no mash no mint sauce it was by far the worst meal I ever had on my birthday. I really had high hopes if I could take the one star away I would DO BETTER blaming the manger who the was not in on the day for not ordering enough produce. The pic of ky poor roast will be posted on their Fb page as I will tag them.

A group of us came here Friday night as part of a crawl but we ended up staying. Very traditional boozer with a nice selection of drinks. Donkey Kong pale ale is a shout. Has some of your classics such as Carling and Guinness too. Also big shoutout to Arron for being so accommodating.

The chap who owned Rebel Chicken now owns this place and we were told we can get the same wings here. No. Just average pub food. Nice garden at the back though.

The Sunday lunch was fantastic. The decided to have a dessert. I chose a crumble. Well that was a waist of nearly a fiver. It was about an inch high and less than 3 inches width and length. EVERYONE of my friends commented how shocked and how tiny it was. That put a real downer on the end if the evening. I did tell staff to mention it to the cook with no come back.

Food was lovely, portions great and price really good for what you get. Staff friendly, but the decor is dated. We were given one menu between 3 people, cold inside would have been nice to have the fire on to cosy up because of the wet weather. Locations is good. All in all pleasant just in need of a facelift.

Quiet visit on a Monday lunchtime. Nice traditional interior. Hearty all day breakfast, and well kept Timothy Taylor ale. Good service, friendly and dog friendly. Will return again, and happy to recommend 👍

Fresh food. Good portions but need to sort the pricing out. Second Sunday in a row being overcharged. Serving an average of 150 covers charging £1 extra per head. Simple maths £150 extra in their pocket. The menu price again today doesn't match the price on the till receipt. Its the principal. £20 for a Lamb Combo with mash in a back street pub is ample without the extra. A new way of maximising profit!
