Overnight stay here in the hotel, and pub. Excellent stay for the money, room was spacious, with a quality feel. Only let down by poor maintenance, main light in bathroom didn't work, and the sink was so visably damaged, it should have been replaced. The welcome tray was half empty on arrival. The hotel staff pleasant enough. Food in pub was good. Can't fault on price.

Sunday evening in there was awful. It was like a Youth Club and all the Bar Staff were interested in was talking to their mates at the end of the bar when there were customers waiting to be served, I was then greeted with "What Do You Want"? Thankfully for the young man it was my birthday and I was in celebratory mood or else I don't think his evening shift would have ended very well for him. Very disappointed having had great experiences in the past there and even staying in the Hotel twice previously. Will consider carefully whether to go there again after Sunday.

Went for breakfast and the tables was absolutely filthy. On entry I kindly asked for the tables to be cleaned which took 15 minutes after asking again for a lady to come back with a piece of blue roll no sanitizer . The coffee machine was broken and the service was absolutely atrocious. Anything was too much and too much effort . The food was cold for two people on the table for them to take it back and just microwave it and it still came back cold. The young girl had long hair swinging it everywhere which I saw end up in another tables food. Very unprofessional and an embarrassment to Wetherspoons.

Booked for a night to save travelling back late after a show. Staff were extremely quick, friendly and helpful! Drinks appeared almost instantly and meals were at the table within 5 minutes, and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The room was clean (With the odd scuff but thats to be expected) and the cleaning lady was lovely :) The bed was a little hard for me but still comfortable. Overall had a wonderful experience and have recommended it to friends

Came here for breakfast, paid for a small breakfast and Side of toast. 5 members of staff and not particularly busy at all. Waited 30 minutes only to be presented with ice cold eggs and no toast. Even after I asked for toast, it wasn’t given it. After my breakfast I told the staff about the absent toast and they all just looked at each other confused and started bickering about how the toast was ready and no one bought it out. They said they will give it to me now..told them it was too late as I had eaten. They gave me a with no apology. I had to ask for an apology. Poor service.

It was a hot Sunday in the middle of the Commonwealth Games and as a result The Briar Rose was well and truly rammed. We managed to find a table fairly quickly but had to clear it ourselves. The food was hot and was served swiftly - however, there was no vinegar for the chips! All in all we fared better than we first thought but there was still room for improvement.

Booked an accessible room, which should have been a clue, as am blind, yet asked to full in a paper fromπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Room was good size, clean and tidy. Only issues were position of TV, up high on wall no good for those with visual disabilities, again accessible room. Shower had only 1 setting very hot πŸ”₯ no matter what you did with levers to see made no difference. Great to have link to pub but not obvious which door the card unlocked, also couldn't find the button to get out the hotel. But good night's sleep, comfortable bed

Rooms dated, beds uncomfortable and room not clean. Shower was good. High price for this budget hotel. Reception often not manned. Guess expectations need to be lowered when staying at a Weatherspoons. Some staff friendly, others seemed massively overworked. Good location in the centre of the city but would not stay again.

Had some eggs benny as my quick late breakfast/ brunch. Food was ok, temperature was more on the warm/cold side. Eggs are slightly overcooked. The best thing is probably bottomless coffee (though not strong again to my taste) But honestly can't ask for too much for the price I paid.

We only used the pub/restaurant. We found a table easily, ordered online and received our drinks quickly. The food followed shortly afterwards. Everything we ordered was of good quality, served hot and satisfying. Overall a very good experience. I suspect it may be very busy at the weekend.

We have become big fans of Weatherspoons recently. Two decent 250ml glasses of wine for just over a fiver is a decent deal. The food us fine and reasonably price too.

Currently quiet and not noisy when at their busiest.Selected drinks affordable and good value. Does have its busy days though. Worth a visit but no outdoor area due to location in city centre.

Central Birmingham city. Service is good. Food was very tasty..we had steak chips and salad. No complaints. Prices are very reasonable. Tables could do with a clean between customers.

I just wanted to leave a review as I came to the Briar Rose for drinks and food on Saturday 24th June and I had never been in Brum before and my friends and I wanted to go somewhere for drinks in the evening. So we started at the spoons as it’s familiar - the food was lovely as expected for spoons but the staff were superb! Even when I was nervous about eating my beyond burger that (of course) looked suspiciously like meat πŸ˜‚ but I wanted to sing the praises of Connor who worked the bar with a grin and a falsetto song! I asked if he could point us in the direction of somewhere with live music so we could have a dance and I had the most wholesome conversation about live music and the place he recommended was amazing - he really set us up for an incredible night! I hope you get to see Steel Panther soon Connor! Good luck with all your composing and above all - Keep rocking 🀘🏻

We had an amazing time staying in the hotel and using the pub below. Staff in the pub were polite, friendly and ran a tight ship. Staying in the hotel was comfortable and after I misplaced my laptop, they helped locate and return it - very grateful to The Briar Rose for a lovely weekend.

Very noisy outside during the night on the road ourside our room. The room was a good size though the bathroom needed a bit of attention - toilet seat hanging off and the cistern cupboard wouldnt shut. The bath had a dirty water mark where the shower/taps have been dripping. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was just the trick

Wow what a place! Me and a few friends visiting Birmingham and ended up in the briar rose, really glad we did. We all ordered on the app and our food and drink arrived really quick especially with it being a busy Saturday night! The food was hot and good quality with a big selection of drinks. The lady behind the bar with the pink hair was so lovely and really made our evening. All in all a very good experience with attentive staff quick service and good quality food for the price you pay!

Really good place this. Cheap as chips for a breakfast the beer is well priced too compared to most places. The tables we tended to sit are were usually sticky in places and the menus were sticky too. But other than that the food quality etc was great for what you pay!

Booked for one night as in Birmingham for a show in the Arena. The hotel is ideally placed, close to the train station. The staff were all friendly, the room was clean with great facilities (very comfortable bed) and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend, will stay again.

Situated in Birmingham city center very close to new street station-it is a great place to meet with it's vibrant atmosphere --the staff are courteous and the bar is long and the room warm - it's ideal for the young 18 year olds upwards --very trendy- yes a good place to visit especially the weekends-- being in the center you are close to the cities other clubs bars and theater life and other venues --

Fish n Chips Fish 9/10 Chips 6/10 Peas 9/10 I marked the fish down 1 point, only because the tail end was too hard to chew and eat. Otherwise a very tasty fish. The chips tasted as if they had been sat waiting for a while before being served. Peas gets knocked off a point purely because of the presentation. Overall a good meal!

Absolute top tier Weatherspoons. Place was buzzing at 9am on a sat. Everyone sinking pints... Great atmosphere, lovely sausage butty

Stayed at this hotel for one night (mainly because I love Wetherspoons and never stayed a spokes hotel!). Room had everything I needed and was clean, and really quiet (especially considering it’s in central Birmingham). Nice clean bathroom with bath. Bed was comfy enough, for the money paid I’m really happy and will come back! Obviously went down to the pub for for breakfast in the morning :) hotel felt safe. Fire doors can be quite loud from the corridor as they slam shut. Will definitely stay again if I’m in the area

Great service, fantastic location, value for money. 5 minute walk to the Birmingham new street station. Off the high street so there is easy access to food and activities. Room was well equipped with ironing board and iron, standing fan for summer, regulated temperature, a well loaded tea tray with a kettle tea coffee and chocolate, plus cookies. Wetherspoon next door so you can order food and drinks to your room. Walking distance to EVERYTHING. Safe as key cards grant access. I recommend this place for a nice experience in Brum

My experience here wasn't awful the staff are friendly and I was happy with the service provided although the location let it down a bit. I think because of how many pubs/clubs that are scattered around on this road it almost makes it feel like a holiday strip kind of atmosphere. Definitely not one to sit down for a private meal with the family. If you want to meet the lads or gals for a few jars it's ideal just not one to take your nan.

First time of eating in Wetherspoons for a while. The prices have obviously risen but the portion sizes appear to have decreased. Most of the food was OK but the peas seemingly only had a very brief encounter with some heat. At least the beer was good.

Visited today had a warm welcome reception we found a table and chairs to sit but decided to move to another table one of our group mistakenly left their handbag on the table, a polite friendly young gentleman Lewis found the bag and placed behind the counter for safe keeping. Once we realised what we had done we approached the fabulous staff.Staff member Lewis recalled the bag asked politely for details before returning the bag. Lewis is a superb member of staff polite friendly and extremely helpful especially at the Christmas time of year A*

Went at lunchtime and it was very busy. The food was brought to the table quickly and was very nice. The prices were reasonable. The only issue was that the tables are very close to each other, which resulted in a lot of people bumping into each other when sitting down and getting up.

Me and my friend had a top experience drinking at this restaurant, finding it lovely to have one in a hotel pub! The stairs are in a glorious area, lift is a neat addition and the pub has a glorious design. Especially to me the counter and chandeliers stood out, also the staff were very friendly! I had Absolut Vodka and sat comfortably, situated at a clean table.

Can't go wrong with a Wetherspoon's really. It was really hot outside and they had all their windows open. It was packed out and still our food and drinks came out really quickly, no issues. Food was cheap and cheerful as always, very reliable.

Went to see the bull in town, then we went for lunch. Very nice, lots of people there. We were very lucky had the last table. Very good food at a good price. Google. Pam lutwyche. The first ever Christmas. It's how Santa πŸŽ… gets his gifts around the world in one night.

Typical Spoons with the boozers, great value and good service, food is good and not over priced and a short wait at the table. Check you table number go to the bar and wait to be served, but be careful you table isn't taken up by the next person. My visit was at the busy time with thirsty drinkers leaving work. You can download another pesky app to not bother at the bar to order, it's then brought to your table quickly. Condiments, salt, pepper (who uses pepper?) Tomato ketchup, mustard, tartar sauce, in little sealed bags and hard to open so you have to bite to open them, this is a messy procedure, grab a handful, thankfully vinegar is in a proper bottle. Tables are wiped clean but a bit sticky. Cheap drinks and great value food, pleasant busy staff, food is well cooked but not gourmet, all washed down by good ale or top up coffee.

This was my first time staying here. There was nothing bad about my stay. Check in was quick, it was extremely busy, but the receptionist went through everything. The room was lovely, and you never would have known you were in the centre of Birmingham as it was so quiet. The bar staff were the friendliest Wetherspoons staff I have ever encountered and the breakfast was amazing. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great range of beers at a really good price. Very friendly service. It may not be trendy but it doesn't charge close on Β£7 for a pint of beer unlike some places nearby.

Went for breakfast before gold cup day. Can't believe how busy this place was at 9.30. Had two full English and two pints for Β£15, served within ten minutes and food was great. Loads of staff and well run. Great pub

Just popped in for breakfast before going to the Cricket. Packed out so get in early if you want a seat. Lovely breakfast, unlimited coffee or tea and good value. Well located in town for other pubs and easy to get Taxis

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Connor behind the bar was great, and made me feel right at home, despite me looking out of place, in a tracksuit, with a laptop and making business calls. It's refreshing to see someone so passionate about what they do! Manager, if your reading this, fast track this man to promotion!

Staff need to explain to guests the forms of ID they accept. They did not explain they do not take proof of age schemes and my partner had to be escorted off premises, I received no refund for this even though proof of age is a valid ID. Aside from this however, it was a busy Friday and staff did their job well, good food and good drinks. My only nag is that servers should explain ID policy upon refusal of alcohol sale.
