The pub plays extremely loud music (to the point where it can be heard over a surround sound television in the apartments opposite) outside until 1AM on a weekend since changing management with no regard to local residents. The Live Music Act 2012 states recorded music should only be played between 8am and 11pm, so the fact it goes on until 1am is frankly disgusting and shows the owners have no regard for the local community.

Great service, friendly staff, excellent food. The new menu is great. Very often vegan pizza feels like an afterthought but at The Church that isn't the case. The vegan options are well balanced and delicious, they're not lacking anything and the combination of toppings is perfect. It's great to finally have excellent pizza in the JQ! As always, the drinks menu (especially the choice of cocktails) is exceptionally good. I highly recommend visiting the newly refurbished bar and pizzeria, especially on a hot day when you can take your drink and food to the roof.

Embarassing! I’d booked this following amazing reviews from local food bloggers. Arrived into a freezing cold, gloomy pub with an equally freezing welcome. Shown into a ‘dining space’ which was empty, freezing and unwelcoming. Drinks were nice, that’s where it stops. Mushroom starter was basic given the description, burnt toast and tepid temperature: mains arrived and veg sent back for being cold, returned warmish with no apology. Main of roast beef was so tough and cold. I returned my main to an uninterested server who didn’t do anything to rectify the issue, she didn’t even come over to ask how it could be rectified. Just left me with nothing. Plates cleared with no basic customer service “how was everything” nothing! An absolute shambles and an embarrassment to hospitality. We paid our bill and left under a cloud.

One of my favourite pubs in Birmingham - really old school front bar. Good selection of beers! Looking forward to visiting this bank holiday weekend. Edit - Having been this Bank Holiday just gone. Had a a few pints and was fantastic on the roof top. The warm weather helps but overall just a great pub and great atmosphere.

Fantastic food and atmosphere, probably one of the best value for money roasts in the JQ. Service was a little hit-and-miss, but as the Tiger Bites Pig/Tierra/Trentina team have only recently taken over, it will definitely improve!

Excellent pub with multiple seating areas, two inside and a very nice roof terrace. They have a good selection of beers and. Food wise it is pizzas only. But they are all excellent. Really good vibe, recommended

Had a lovely Saturday afternoon drink in here. Was nice and relaxed, pleasant bar staff and the building is very historic and pretty. Didn't try the food but will next time!

Unbelievably good food and service! We ate here 2 nights in a row and how this place is not fully booked for months is beyond me. The food was so so so good, the drinks just as good and the service was friendly, attentive and beyond our expectations. The only minus, was that the pub was quite cold. We would have stayed much longer if we had not been so cold.

I hadn't been here before but my mate fancied a beer on the rooftop terrace so he could enjoy a smoke. Good beer, good crowd, good service.

We were gifted the wine and cheese flight at the church pub. Staff were very friendly and attentive. The place is super cozy with lovely outdoor terrace seating.

Stumbled in here by accident Thursday night, but really pleased we did. Service was quick and the food excellent. It was all perfectly cooked but star of show was Scotch Egg starter which was absolutely perfect. Lean tasty meat and perfect egg at centre. Beer all excellent as well. Great evening.

We celebrated our engagement party here in October and really could not fault The Church one bit. From the moment we asked to view the ‘dining room’, your team was incredibly welcoming, friendly and responsive - answering all our (many!) questions and offering support where needed with the menu. The stresses of the day (decorating etc.) were hugely alleviated by you accommodating us; letting us in earlier to decorate and offering your help when needed. As for the party itself, it was also great. It was a nice surprise learning that the cocktails were 2-4-1 at the start of the night. And even though the cocktails had to be made (and ordered) in the main pub, our bartender took our orders in the dining room and brought over our cocktails, which was a lovely touch. The food was delicious and we had our guests saying how nice the food was. The beers were also great, and was a reasonable price. The Church held our decorations and took us no more than 5 minutes to collect the next day. Everybody, including ourselves had a great time in all respects. Would definitely recommend these for a function - or a casual visit - as the food, drinks and service were all amazing.

What a meal! Simply stunning food. The Church should be sold out every day such is the quality of the food here, I can't believe it wasn't busier. Everything we had was superb, but the beef Sunday roast was one of the best I've had in a restaurant in a long time. We were very greedy and shared three starters too, which were all delicious but probably a bit too much food in total for just the two of us. Nevermind, nothing went to waste! My only criticism was the toasted sourdough was a bit crispy, and I'd have loved the scotch egg to have a runny yolk. But these are minor points in an otherwise perfect meal with faultless service from the great staff.

Service and food are way overpriced and ridiculously slow service on the terrace. Ordered on the app when arrived, came out in dribs and drabs after chasing 3 times after an hour when told it would only be 20 minutes, by this time we ordered a roast from the kitchen downstairs which came out and was eaten before the the tacos and wings arrived from the bbq on the terrace. The Roast was ok but far too overpriced. Tacos were very very poor quality, very small portions and extremely overpriced. Wings were good, but expensive for what came out. Drinks and service at the bar was good, atmosphere is good but would not recommend eating here as far better eats and service can be found in close proximity.

Great pub with friendly people serving a good selection of drinks including ales. The food is excellent - it's a limited menu but what they serve up is top notch. The fish and chips was excellent - the chips are the best I've had in any restaurant. The lamb was melt in the mouth. The interior is lovely and there's a great roof terrace as well. Brilliant place.

Great pub. Fantastic dining room. The Church is a splendid pub and dining room. It's got a traditional feel to it which I love, a great selection of beers and food and excellent service. They also have a fantastic roof terrace which is incredible on a hot day. I've visited the Church a few times and had great experiences but last night prompted me to finally write this review. My fiancé and I attended the 'steak night' and we had a brilliant time. We ordered a starter of Steak Tartare and Lomo. Mains, the Côte de boeuf with sides of truffle mac cheese, chips and creamed spinach. The steak tartare was incredible, we've spent quite a bit of time in France over the years and in all honesty, this steak tartare was arguably the best we've ever eaten. The steak was large and had great flavour, there was a smoky edge to it which was delicious and the truffle mac cheese was very good. (the tomatoes and shallot that came with the steak were to die for) It's worth mentioning that the service was phenomenal throughout the whole evening. The staff are exceptionally polite, very helpful when it came to suggestions with ordering and very attentive. I would definitely recommend the Church. 10/10

Had a fantastic family birthday party at The Church. The food was truly excellent, unbelievably good. Little Max was a terrific host and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. Personally I would highly recommend a visit to this Gem of a place.

Was recommended to The Church by a member of staff from another JQ pub as I had booked the wrong date for Sunday lunch and they couldn’t accommodate. Great service as soon as we walked in, drinks served, menu chosen and plates of roast beef for him and lamb for me arrived. Extras of a parsnip gratin and greens accompanied the meat, lovely tasting carrot, roast potatoes and yorkie. What looked like a small jug of gravy was deceiving and covered the plate in a tasty sauce. Only criticism was that the Yorkshire puds were quite burnt on the top, fair play we were offered replacements but declined but all in all a really tasty roast in a great boozer with a nice atmosphere…will return!

Food tasted very good, would have loved some extra roast potatoes. Minor improvement I would suggest is tables need candles in my opinion.

Great Guinness, nice service, but smells of pish. Drinking buddy says it doesn't usually smell of piss, hence the 4 star rather than 3. Really off putting smell. Can imagine a nice atmosphere without the stench.

Great choice of beers, wines, spirits & select cocktails. Roof terrace is fab. Tried the Sunday lunch at last visit & it was so good. Obviously well thought out, as they use good fresh vegetables including rainbow carrots, beetroot & lovely roast potatoes & cauliflower cheese.

Excellent Sunday lunch in a beautiful old pub. Dining room is found at the back. We had the pork belly and beef both were beautifully cooked and melt in the mouth. All roasts include Cauliflower cheese and veg. Our selection included kale, rainbow chard, leeks and beans this was in addition to the parsnip, carrot and potato on the main plate. The apple and berry crumble was full of flavour and the creme anglaise provided a perfect addition. Very reasonably priced given the quality of the food and the excellent service.

Recently opened again under new management & it's back to being a great little gem in the jewellery quarter. Portions were very generous & we loved the mini jug of gravy each. Chilled place, great staff, a must go to.
