Frozen, microwaved Sunday Lunch. Freezer burn visible on the veg. Tasteless. Pork slices had that signature 'school dinner' sponge texture and no flavour at all Microwaved Yorkshire pud Only reason this is not 1 star, is because the venue is great for drinks. Just don't bother with food here.

Awful experience, food we ordered came after 30 minutes... I ordered a rare sirloin but when it came it was tough and over charred, was like eating coal flavoured crisps at one end of it compared to leather at the other end (of the sirloin), also ordered 'posh fish and chips' which came cold and with chips that not only tasted years old but also looked years old too, definitely not worth the price. With the steak came cold onion rings which were soggy... And one quarter of a single mushroom. Disappointing. I could have paid half the price for better quality at a weatherspoons.

Very nice pub / restaurant. Fairly varied choice of food to cater for.most people. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, only thingnis that you order at the table like a lot of establishments now so you lose the personal touch, but overall enjoyable experience. Very reasonable prices as well.

Great pup with Great entertainment tribute singers, the last one being UB40. Can be very busy that being said never at the bar for too long the delivery of food is not to long a wait. The staff are very friendly & do work hard as mentioned in the above waiting times... Food is recommended just a little more in the portion side would be good but on the whole with current climate still worth ordering.

Came in today a party of 5 for The Festive Meal. Greeted and shown to our table straight away . Rachel came over to confirm all our choices. 4 having traditional Xmas meal which was delicious and 1 steak cooked perfectly. We were all looked after and thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon. Fantastic food on a busy Friday night. The woodman's has had a revamp and the place looks and feels great! Vibrant busy buzz but still getting our food out to us without a long wait. Food was awesome leaving our party of 3 with empty plates and full belly's

We had lovely meals at the Woodmans Rest on Saturday lunchtime we had our favourite meals the Hunters chicken the service is excellent the food is well prepared and presented Friendly helpful staff. Well worth a visit

Lovely place to catch-up with friends & family. Good atmosphere. Is busy most evenings so if you want a seat down meal it's advisable to book in advance. Various deals on different days, these are very good. Service is friendly and efficient. Food is OK for a pub. Ans a good choice available.

Popped in for a quick drink, nice service from the young lady behind the bar, ordered nachos and breaded mushrooms, Guinness and wine, very nice, went down well, clean tables too

My Husband & Myself are regular visitors to the Woodman’s Rest In Shirley. My Husband in particular has been a customer for at least 25 years. We met 9 years ago. My review is not only for Chris Manager, Kelly & team (who are FAB) but a Massive shout out to Angie waitress, extraordinaire , ALL ROUND grafter, owner superb customer skills, super efficient MOST importantly remembers everybody and all round lovely person POINT OF DIFFERENCE & a fab reason to RETURN. We popped in today for quick snack on a rare weekend off. To my delight I saw the smiley face of Angie. As usual her warm friendly self. Thank you 😊

Food average and quickly out,large menu which is hard to create good quality. Wines poor selection/quality and no staff knowledge. Just expecting customers to drink anything.

Very nice pub. It was a bit busy when I went in because it was some sort of steak night but still found seats. Staff were on the ball and the beer was well kept. Prices about average for the area.

Tuesday lunchtime: nice atmosphere with an open fire in the middle of the room. Ordered the chicken, bacon and avocado salad. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very good.

My recent visit to Woodmans left me with mixed feelings, primarily due to the disappointing culinary experience I encountered. While the pub exudes a lively atmosphere and boasts a wide selection of beverages, the same cannot be said for the food. While the service was friendly and attentive, it couldn't compensate for the subpar quality of the food. The staff appeared genuinely interested in ensuring a positive experience, but it's evident that the kitchen fell short of delivering on the promises made by the menu. We ordered two Beef with Red Wine Lasagne, and it was clear that the food had been cooked earlier in the day and left (i assume) on a hot plate to keep it warm, unfortunately due to the length of time the food had been left, the beef had dried out and turned hard. This was mentioned to the staff on service, and they kindly offered a free drink which never came along with a refund.

We had an awkward number for a booking (12) and we were unable to book online and tried to call a few times but unable to get through. I tried a ‘work around’ by booking separate tables on line and requesting via notes that we sit together. This was frustrating, but a call from the manager Chris, who explained why we couldn’t book online, resolved our issue completely. He ensured that we would be able to sit together and also that the staff on the night understood our requirements and would look after us. Excellent service from everyone involved. I didn’t eat as I am a support worker supporting the group to attend but they were all pleased with the food and the value.

Beer's always good and you get a warm welcome. Food basic but good value. Nice boozer!

Nice atmosphere and staff was very nice. Had a good lunch and a good beer.

Had a lovely meal and great selection of lager. Reasonable priced aswell. Recommended for a food catch up or family meal.

Great real ales and very good bar service from helpful, friendly staff. Food is mostly decent cook/chill, but it would benefit the place if the food offerings were of better quality.

Just average food. Nothing amazing. The vegan option however was very disappointing. Pasta bake was overcooked and burnt in some places. The side salad looked like the remainder from someone elses plate. Seems out of place for Ember Inns. Usually better with their food.

Popped into today they were extremely helpful and considerate as I was still apprehensive about enclosed spaces, great service and nice meal. Give them a try👍

Called for a drink and some mid afternoon food and whilst pub was fairly busy and drinks ok, food less impressive Ribs and wings looked as though they'd been around a while and not alot of sauce. Katsu chicken curry was also lacking sauce

The meal was cooked to perfection, very tasty couldn't fault it especially the beef dripping gravy omg it was to die for . Would use it again

Terrible customer service wanted meal offer when this was wrong was told cannot be changed .So for the sake of no price different and a couple of cheap deserts you have lost customers. Spoke to manager who was largely disenterested What happened to customer service

Lovely staff, prompt service, and great food. As an autistic/AuDHD couple, my partner and I appreciated the atmosphere (low and warm lighting, music not too loud, not too many people but enough to not seem 'dead', etc.). We enjoyed our meal here :-)

Great place to eat+ drink, reasonable prices, but the best part is the staff, from the kitchens, bar staff, waitress, they are the best !

Very disappointed yet again. Went for breakfast and ordered 2 eggs on 2 toast. Specifically asked for the toast not to be cut in half but lo and behold it was but it wasn't even toasted at all. It was just 4 halves of white crisp bread. It was awful. Sent it back and then waited 5 minutes to get 2 toast, whilst my eggs were sitting on my plate in front of me and obviously went cold.. it was awful service and presentation. Went a couple of weeks ago for the steak nights and again service was awful. Meal came out quick enough but then waited 5 minutes to get cutlery to eat it with. Will not be returning.

We regularly come here. The set menus are great value. There's a great range of beers on for my husband and the team are very friendly and helpful. Food has great portions. Just wish they'd get more Cauliflower cheese ordered never seem to have any. But I wouldn't mark you down for this as everything else is spot on.

Having regularly eaten at this pub for many years, I was very disappointed today with the poor service I received. After a long wait, the meals arrived but were not accurate as items were missing. I suggest that an indication of how long the meal will take to arrive would be appreciated.

Lovely ember inn pub so the food is excellent. Engaging and lively staff. A good place to visit if you're passing buy either for a drink or a food.

Visited the woodmans for some food. Normally the service is very quick and the food is decent for the money. Unfortunately the food took 40minutes today which for the standard recieved is not good enough. Two meals were incorrect and not what we ordered. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing today.

Nice and clean staff lovely and friendly and they put a lovely buffet on for a funeral that we attended
