👍 John is an enthusiastic member of the team. I enjoyed a very good real ale with a sample before I bought it. At £2.15, I found this great value for money. Very clean inside and an interesting array of pictures related to the history of the locality People often mention staff, good, time, meal, service, great, friendly, price, drinks,

I regularly call in for a meal and a beer but I won't be eating there much more, my last three times the food has been destroyed. The last time I ordered a 6 ounce burger, I received a bun with 2 three ounce burgers both had been burned to resemble charcoal, on a previous visit, I had half chicken which was more like burned cardboard it was so overcooked. Only reason to go there now is for the excellent beer After another visit I feel that I have to add another review. I decided to try another meal at the pump house. What a difference, mine and my friends meals were all excellent. I hope the improvement is because of people's reviews, then it's worth complaining.

We had to wait a long time for our food, with other tables who came in after us were getting theirs before we did. We had to ask the server to chase it up. When it did come my burger was over cooked and dry. Not good after having to wait. In a time when pubs are complaining about low numbers you should seriously think about how to treat your customers. We won't be back.

Enjoyable lunch. 1st time visitor. Waitress was friendly and shared a joke. Recommend a visit.

Happened to pop into here and I can honestly say great experience very laid-back sitting out on the pavement and James was a superb help in setting up the app and sorting the beers definitely will be back

The portions are ridiculous small, we have to order and extra portions of everything. The price is not worthy at all. The food doesn’t has any taste and if you want a full English breakfast, you gotta expend extra £3.

Went and had a sausage and egg muffin. The egg white was partly clear with the consistency of snot. I told a waitress who took it to get a new one. My egg was definitely cooked the second time around, It was brown, rock hard and crunchy. It felt like a point was being proven by staff due to me pointing out the undercooked egg. Not impressed

Typical environment of wetherspoons, toilets on the 9th floor, my ears popped. Parking nearby, free after 6pm and Sundays. Friendly local shoplifters offering a variety of freshly locally stolen goods at a discounted price, limited seating out front if the cyclists haven't already secured their pedal operated contraptions to the tables. The view is predominantly redundant shops.

Food and drinks spot on 👍 staff very friendly 👌. However the Building had no soul very bland unlike other weatherspoons that I've been to. Also I really wish that folk that smoke didn't have to smoke cigarettes in the Door way . I had to shout excuse me just to get by . And the smell of cigarettes smoke inside the premises was very strong and not being a smoker it spoiled the taste of my food .

This is one of our favourite pubs - many decades ago it used to be a petrol station. It certainly doesn't feel like a regular pub, more like an airport pub, very tall ceiling with plenty of light coming in through the huge front windows. Get there early to get a good table as it can get very busy. Good food.

Best pub in the Shirley high street. Very nice ambiance and quite cheap in price. Highly recommend.

Looks like a great pub in a great area, but that's about it. Very watered down orange juice. Fish batter was soggy & unappetising. They burnt my beef burger & delivered HORRIBLE cutlery. Clumps of food were still stuck all over them & they weren't even rinsed off. Actually, I don't even know if they were washed. How can that get past the waiters eyes?! Did we do something to deserve that? They then replaced our cutlery with another set that didn't seem to have been rinsed, so we used vinegar & napkins to get the residue off rather than bothering another waiter. I cannot recommend this place for food. This is a drinks only Wetherspoons.

Always busy. Food is typical of your average Wetherspoon. Good for cheap and cheerful as always. Buttermilk burger was tough and chewy. Always the generous amount of chips so Always expect someone in your party to say 'Where's the rest of my chips' or 'is there a chip strike'

This was fairly busy with customers, No clean tables I cleaned my own with my own anti bacterial wipes. Staff didn't show any interest unless at the bar. Only good side was endless tea , coffee ect for less than £1.60 can't remember price exactly.

It was busy when we first got there, & even though there was 9 of us we all managed to get a seat. The bar staff were all very friendly and attentive. Nice place to meet up with friends for a drink. Can't rate the food, didn't have anything to eat. 😀😀

I come here with my partner most Sundays without issue. Today the service was absolutely appalling. Chips were hard and undercooked and the chicken was also either undercooked/had many defects and was pink in colour. At the end of the meal I pointed out the quality of the food and my server offered a refund for the two items. Her colleague then came over, spoke down to me as if I did now know what I was on about (which is ironic as I’m a shift manager of my own restaurant which serves many similar products) and insisted nothing was wrong. She put fault on me for not alerting my server to the problem when they asked me how the food was during my meal … nobody checked in with us during our meal. Management team please coach your people on how to properly interact with customers! No refund was given. We will not be returning.

The bar man who served us was very accommodating!! Very polite and helped us. I went back today 3 weeks after last visit and the meal was lovely, very juicy steak and chips!! Very quick service too!! And all staff very pleasant including the bar man we saw last time, all very smiley.

Half decent sized Weatherspoons on the Shirley main road. Generous seating and well designed for flow, some of the tables are rickety, so be careful when putting down your drinks. If you want it light and airy, then sit near the front, the back is quite dark. Waiting times are 15 mins on average for food and up to about 45 mins during peak times. Food is the usual Weatherspoons stuff, this one does Pizza as well. They are the average Weatherspoons sized portions and the chip amount tends to be on the higher count. They are quite stingy on the beans though, at times can be just two tablespoons.

So my free refillable tea/coffee was very reasonable and very nice latte! I saw the picture of the muffin and I even prepared the napkins for the beautiful juicy egg mess that was undoubtedly gonna happen . . . But my egg was rock hard, and even had a bit of shell :-( so even at the good price and did granted taste very good it's not quite the juicy egg pictured that I wanted.

Enjoyed my veggie breakfast this morning, instead of tomatoes I had an extra piece of toast, like the the fact they were totally flexible and said I could change any item with another so long it was on that particular meal. Very reasonable priced at just £4.50. Like the fact that tea or coffee is only £1,20 and you can have as many refills as you like, also you can do some shopping and come back say an hour latter and continue having free refills. I had Tea, Latte then finished off with a double decaf expresso. Nice outside seating area where you can watch the world go by. Plenty of indoor seats and it wasn't too overcrowded when I was their at 11.15am, Tuesday. There's plenty of parking available, I use the shoppers carpark which gives you free parking for up to 3 hours.

Very good food and drink very reasonable but 2 of us had a mixed grill no complaints about the food but no egg on a mixed grill only disappointment

Very friendly and welcoming staff. The service is quick, didn't have to wait long for our food. Breakfast was an amazing price, plus free refills on the hot drinks. The food great but the mocha is a little too chocolaty for me. To use the disabled toilets, if the door isn't left open, you need your radar key. Or you can ask a member of staff for the key. Normal toilets are upstairs. You don't have to wear masks inside at any time.

Great not to busy. Tables could have done with a wipe down, we did find a clean one though. Food was delicious I had a traditional breakfast with endless Tetley tea, my sons had a large vegan breakfast with endless coffee and a large breakfast with endless hot chocolate. There were no complaints. The staff were fantastic I would definitely eat here again 😋

Excellent staff great service. Found the drinks to be fairly priced with the local areas average prices. I found the service to be friendly and welcoming.
