Well reccomended whenever u are in Birmingham. We went there to celebrate my son graduation and wow! All the dishes are amazing, taste are perfect and i can say i had the best saag paneer, chicken tikka & mixed vege ever! The lamb beriyani so good, the lamb is so tender and i can eat the rice even by itself. Good food, good service, great ambience and value for money! Tq guys for doing extra mile for us to break our fast. Will definately come back for more!

The food is consistent in quality, not amazing but nothing inedible. The highlight for sure was the matka gosht, cooked well, the meat was tender and sauce flavourful, if you pay a visit then order this for sure, along with a paratha or three. We also had a tava chicken which went down well. The machle la jawab is essentially chip shop masala fish served in your standard curry house base gravy. Lassawala gosht promises a lot but definitely does not live up to the hype. Everything on the mixed grill was overcooked and dry. The chefs need to revisit this for sure, some pieces like the tandoori chicken were left pretty much untouched, that's how tough and dry it was. The lowlight of the visit was nearly throwing up after smelling the mint sauce bottle. The waiter then told me that he had just filled it that morning and it was impossible for it to be off. Of course, he then smelt it himself and took it away promptly... The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable with a good atmosphere. Toilets are fit for human use (unlike the facilities in so many restaurants in Brum these days). Price is very reasonable.

Wonderful experience at the Royal Watan yesterday evening. The food is so good, of great quality, well prepared, served with care. Portions are generous and the price is fair. And the kindness of the owners and all the staff, unforgettable❣️ I liked the decoration and the seating is very comfortable. Just wished I lived closeby to come more often but next time I come to Birmingham, I will visit them again and very looking forward to it. Thank you for this lovely evening. 💗

Welcoming staff, comfortable seating & freshly made sizzling flavorful food. Lassa Wala gosht was something I was looking forward to. Tandoori naan was an absolute delight. Parking can be an issue for some as no onsite parking. Good experience 👍

The gaffer got us to try the new starter, prawns, your tongue tingled with the spices then it didn't and then it did again, the flavouring and spicing, amazing. Chicken saag as main with a lamb Biryani, the saag full of flavour and a good portion, the lamb in the Biryani was huge and fell apart. Always a great place to go.

It gets busy here so may be worth booking ahead. Absolutely stunning food, reasonable prices and good portion sizes. I would definitely recommend the special lassawala dish, the meat was so tender it just fell apart. Every single item we ordered was brilliant and had an individual taste. The mixed grill was huge and really well cooked. The service was good, and the owner was really friendly taking the time to talk to us. I would definitely recommend and return to eat here when I'm next in Birmingham.

Tried this place for the first time in August 2023. Food, service, hygiene is all very good. The dishes are a bit small but taste very nice. Tried chicken Karahi, lamb Karahi and dhaal. Good service. Suitable for families and children. Great service and hospitality from Imran.

Recently visited Royal Watan to experience Kashmiri food. The food was good and very tasty. We ordered prawns, rogan josh, naan, tawa chicken and potato chicken. I particularly liked the prawns. The place is really busy and famous so expect some delay in getting your order. But they offered papadama to fill that time. Overall a good Kashmiri food experience.

Lovely atmosphere and very good service. The Matka Gosht was the best dish of the evening. The other dishes Tava Chicken, Lassawala Gosht was good as well. Naans were fresh and warm served well. Tea to finish was nice to wash the food down. Only one thing to improve the chicken on the mix grill taste was good but just was a little drier than what I like. Over all would go back again as it was a pleasant experience.

Had a great meal here, food was delicious, service was good, the naan bread was really tasty and loved the novelty of it being one giant naan for all 5 of us to share! The cost was also really reasonable considering 5 of us ate here, less than £100 for the total bill. Would definitely go again!

Went here yesterday, we where welcomed by staff at the door. Customer service was very good👍 The food itself was worth it, the mix grill was tasty and well cooked. We also tried their signature dish that was decent and the nan was enough for 2 of us. We also had mango lasi A bit pricy but food was good Anyone looking for hijama/cupping contact After Hours Cupping Www.AfterHoursCupping.co.uk @AfterHoursCupping

After searching on Internet and checking the reviews we decided to go to Royal Watan we was served by Usman really polite and attentive. We ordered Mixed Grill with chips which was served with fresh green salad and variety of sauces. The appearance and quality of the lamb meat was good however we find tandoori marination too salty, we told Usman he called his manager Imran (very nice and humble gentleman) who went to great length to sort the issue out, at the end he advise us to try Haryali Chicken (Green Chicken) with nan which was tasty and we've enjoyed our food. We were not charged for the Mixed Grill (thank you) Will I go there again YES definitely because of their excellent service.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly but the food wasn't up to the mark comparatively to the prices they offer. Lassawala gosht was tender and naan was soft but dynamite prawns weren't hot . Also tawa gosht was really disappointing as it was just a normal Jalfarezi sort of chicken served on tawa. In sweets we ordered ice-cream and cookie dough. Stuffed pepper naan (forgot the name) was also just bland. Lassi was good. For kids we ordered chicken nuggets and fries and they were overpriced. ❌ Papadom along the chatneys were not on the house, you will have to pay. I don't know why our clothes smelt curry when we came home. The kitchen wasn't open plan so why did it happen? Lastly I recommend booking in advance because it was busy on weekdays.

Had my brothers birthday meal here. The food, atmosphere and service was just 10/10. A big thanks to the manager and waiters, their hospitality was amazing, felt extremely comfortable and welcome. We ordered the mix grills- the meat was fresh and very nicely spiced. We also ordered the lamb tava and chicken karahi which was very tasty. Also a must try is the lassi ka saag which is new on the menu. The food matched that of authentic homemade south asian dishes! After a long while I have been to a restaurant and throughly enjoyed a meal. It’s a must go for anyone in Birmingham!!!

Top marks 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Bring your own alcohol 🍷🍷 Fabulous place with really warm service. We didn't know the area and booked on the way to Birmingham based on Google reviews and have to say it didn't disappoint. Food is delicious, naan bread is massive. Bring your own alcohol is a great touch too. Menu is a bit hard to read in places (red on black)

It speaks for itself when restaurant is almost full on sunday evening . We had very delightful experience today. Very welcoming ,helpful and always smiling staff . We ordered lasswala lamb and chicken chooza . Chicken Tikka Naan, cheese Naan and Ferrero shake . Portin size qas enough for two, esecially medium chicken tikka naan was much bigger than I exected. They took extra care spices were adjusted according our taste (i ike steonger spices) .All food items were fresh and tasteful, although Chicken chooza could have been a bit better but I don't blame the chef as we asked this dish specifically less spicy for our kid. Ambience also is very nice with beautiful lighting decors. Overall very nice experience. P.S.- you have to par on side streets.

Had read alot of really good things about the restaurant and it didn't disappoint. The food was the best Indian food I've e ver sampled. I had the mutton tikka balti which was ridiculously tasty. Oh and the naans (wow) I would highly recommend this restaurant.

The Royal Watan is our new go to restaurant after watching cricket at Edgbaston. We've been a number of times recently and have had a fantastic experience on each occasion. A warm welcome, courteous service and delicious food. The restaurant is beautifully presented, it's a pleasure to eat there. We love the fact that they bring a bottle of water to the table without having to ask and being able to take your own alcoholic drinks keeps the price down. Thank you to the staff and chefs - we will be back!

An impromptu evening meal with a friend. Super friendly greeting. The service was excellent. Wait staff were professional and knowledge about the menu. We were not rushed or made to feel that we had stayed too long. This added to a wonderful experience. The food was outstanding! Flavoursome, piping hot, well cooked and not overly greasy. I had to take some home in a takeaway bag as I couldn't finish it all! This is definitely a restaurant to return to. Highlighted vegan options and suggestions clearly contained in the menu (we didn't have any, but it was noticeable). Thank you all for a fabulous experience!

IF I COULD LEAVE 10 stars I would .this place is a hidden Gem. From the decorative styling, the ambiance, the hospitality, and most all the food, being not only authentic, but completely freshly made, I really had a fantastic evening with my brothers , the atmosphere was very vibrant and cosy. The service was impeccable, really want to say thank you guys. We shall be returning.

Nice decor. Staff are friendly but don't really know the menu that well. Unfortunately the food was very bland. The best part was the poppadoms. Naan breads were really poor, flat, dense and not at all fluffy. I'm not sure why there are so many 5* reviews. The restaurant was busy when we visited on a Saturday evening. I have to rate it one out of five due to the bland food.

Went to the restaurant last weekend, the food and service was remarkable. One of us didn't like curry so had the scampi and chips option instead which was to a excellent standard. Track and trace taken on arrival with hand sanitizer too on the door and staff wearing masks, gloves and visors. We had two family naans bread which were freshly made on order and offered poppadoms on arrival with a salsa tray. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves a friendly atmosphere and tasty Indian food with a few English options.

I have had good Indian/desi cuisine here for more than 1 time. This is my place to go when I am around University of Birmingham. I have recommended this place to any of my friends who visit/live in Birmingham. Food is one of the best Indian one I have had in UK. Service is every better than best! For the manager/owner to remember me after during my second visit (at least 2-3 months between my first and second visit) speaks volume about the kind of establishment they run. Hope they open more branches soon 🤞🏽We can use more welcoming place with good food like this in the world to spread some love.

I wasn't really a fan of the food here unfortunately. The mains just didn't have any unique flavours. Great it's BYOB. Lovely décor. But I'd rather have a shabby looking restaurant and exceptional food. Staff were very friendly and helpful and are a credit to the restaurant

I apologise for my act. You said I was being immature, but now you are threatening me to lose my job. Do you think that this is being mature?

What a waste of money! I just ordered from this restaurant for the first time and it’s definitely going to be the last. Chicken Karahi sauce tastes like it’s coming out of a jar, taste of the chicken feels like old and not fresh at all. The other curry, which was recommended by staff tastes so weird and chops were very chewy. Nothing fresh about this order even the salad, will never order again for sure.

Attentive staff. Nice food. A couple of misses (don't waste your money on a giant naan), but then again, a couple of delicious hits (grandma's lamb chops scrummy and enough to feed two; fish with zingy green chilli yum) so maybe some poor ordering to blame. It's byo so the slightly high prices balance out. Go to relax and be looked after and order what you fancy. Don't forget to tip!
