Had a late lunch / early dinner. Portion sizes were just right to be honest. Food was really plenty of mean in the curry. Came out nice and hot too. The lady who served us was very polite and friendly. The inside is clean and has a good decor. Its a desi style pub that serves indian mixed grills, curry’s plus lots of other atuff while servicing every alcoholic beverage and spirit/short you can think of

I forgot to take photos when I ate in. Have to say one of the best curries I've ever had and that is saying something. Great beer at the bar and as you can see from the photos the takeaway is amazing. Fish Pakora is out of this world and definitely the best I have ever tasted without a shadow of a doubt. Go you'll love it, but it does get busy so book ahead..or get a takeaway

Great food which explains why they’re always busy. Good idea to call ahead to reserve a table, particularly on the weekend. Mixed grill is great to share. TBH, it used to be so much better, but, guess as the cost of food has increased the grill has suffered slightly.

The best curry in Birmingham, in my view. I’ve been twice over the summer with family and really enjoyed the food, as have they. The butter chicken is fantastic as is the saag paneer. Service is very good - quick and friendly. I love the old pub feel at the front and I love the area, so it scores on every count for me. I’ll be going back.

Was staying at Holiday Inn Expres Snow Hill, who's only evening meal was fish and chips!! Found this gem on Google maps 6mins away. Was busy, even on a Weds night (good sign!), but was quickly shown to a table. Some great drinks on tap - had a pint of Beavertown neck oil while food was being prepared. Food was excellent (garlic nan and chicken jalfrezi) - good portion, full of taste and right amount of kick. Service was friendly and pub had nice atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Cracking curry house. We asked at the Wolf pub for a recommendation expecting a few...he just pointed over the round at this place. Was reassuringly busy. The ordering system was a tick sheet which we filled in before we sat down. The food was excellent & plenty. We even tried to get in the next night (Sat) but was fully booked.

Great Pub & Curry Restaurant. The food is excellent & the staff are very friendly. The place is clean & the ambience is great. The procedure for ordering the food is different but fast. The food portions are good enough for two to eat from one order. Great beers aswell. An allround good experience. 👍👌😁🍺

Met with a friend for lunch. I'd not been here before. To be honest it didn't look spectacular from the outside.... but looks can be deceiving. The curry we had was superb. Plenty of it. For the toilets , you had to go through another bar area at the back of the pub 🍻.

Whoa!! Just arrived in Birmingham UK. Dead beat from traveling and Hungary. Google maps lead us to the closest restaurant. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST INDIAN FOOD I'VE HAD!! I got Lamb Madras spicy and it was delicious and SPiCY. Nan bread and fried cod filled out the menu. Great prices! Friendly staff! Great old building. Great food!!!

Honestly some of the best food I've ever had. Constantly salivating over the thought of eating here but unfortunately only get to 2 or 3 times a year! Highly recommend. Please open another next door to my house 🙏

Food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Its a very busy pub but luckily they managed to fit us in. Lots of choice on the menu. I've been trying to get an opportunity to eat here for ages and I was not disappointed. It was well worth the wait and the mixed grill was mouth wateringly delicious. I was stuffed and struggled to finish drinking my pint 🤣😋😋

Great curry at hen and chickens washed down with cask ale. A bit loud with the football on, but a great night out.

Best mixed grills and good value for money. The service was prompt and efficient. We went on a Thursday evening and they were busy. Will definitely go back, but maybe on a quieter day, perhaps

Vegetarian and LOVED the daal tadka (desi spicy). Omg so good. I’ve been to all the “great” Birmingham Indian restaurants, this is by far the best and most authentic. Can’t say enough

Food was lovely and amazing decor in this historic pub location! You go up to the bar to order which makes it nice and easy, food arrived promptly after ordering and all very tasty.

Went with colleagues after work (8 of us). We ordered so much food starters, mains enough to feed another 8. Great food, good ambience, great service, good drinks what else one wants. We all ordered one main each which was too much as the portions are big enough to share between 2-3 people. The place was busy but the food explained why. Good place for curry and drinks.

Nice beer and good food. We had the mixed grill which was tasty and a really nice portion. The tandoori rotis were overdone though and slightly burnt. Good food though and we will be back to try the curries - probably go for nans next time !! The seating at the rear seems nicer but we were told it was closed. Toilets nice and clean and the service was with a smile.

A recommendation from a friend. Awesome. Fantastic atmosphere with friendly staff, great service and great food. We’re not locals (south coast) but would definitely go again if we could. Quality - a must do.

Located on Constitution Hill, the Hen & Chickens has benefitted from a superb refurbishment. The area is improving all the time with the Wolf and Lord Clifden completing a drinkers triple heaven. The Hen offers delicious food as well as awesome ales. It's so good King Kong has made his home just up the road. Do yourself a favour and go visit this up and coming area.

Wow! Looked like an old pub from the outside when I walked past. Glad I looked it up. Really nice inside and great Indian food, which all seemed freshly prepared. Good craft ales on tap like Beavertown Neck Oil and Gamma Ray.

The curry was incredible. Hot, tasty and fresh. Decent price too. Naan bread superb... Knocked a star off as thought drinks were expensive, plus we were sat in the front bit of the pub which was a bit cold. Nicer (and warmer) rooms at the back...

Food was incredible!!! Came out quickly, well prices and above all, absolutely delicious. Portion sizes are generous as well. Bar staff were very friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. The pub-vibe makes it very relaxed. The only thing is, if you have a bad back, or are a bigger person, you might wanna ring ahead and book a booth/sofa seat. The tables are very small and close together, so it does very much feel like you are sat with people you don't know. The stools are also quite low (and I am only 5ft) so if you've got a jacket/bag with you, there isn't really anywhere to put it. - I can only speak for the restaurant section of the pub! There is loads of room and proper seating on the other side of you're just going for drinks. Overall, it was great, and I definitely will be going again and recommending to others!!
