The restaurant, location & decor is quite nice. the food is very nice, fresh quality ingredients and everything I’ve tried so far is tasty. For starters I normally try veg samosa or aloo chaat. For mains I usually go for veg rogan or veg Bhuna. Always delicious & flavoursome. The naan breads are fluffy & light with a nice light crispness as they should be. The service is great too!

Attentive and extremely well mannered staff. Covid safe. Food was delicious! A thourghly enjoyable experience and well worth a visit. On the higher of the price scale but a well deserved treat. The staff are happy to talk through the menu and recommend based on your tastes.

First time I have been to this restaurant. We just had a main because of going to the theatre. We had a king prawn and chicken takeaway dasak, which was lovely. The music was ambient and the staff were lovely. We shall hopefully make a return visit soon.

Having booked tickets for the Hippodrome we chose this restaurant following other reviews for our pre show meal. Wow... what an amazing restaurant, we were met with a warm greeting and shown to our table. The James Dahl starter is amazing, perfectly presented, thoroughly enjoyable and cooked to perfection. Our waiter recommended one of our main meals and you only need to look at the photos to see how well they were prepared, presentation again was amazing and the taste of mixed flavours made these dishes highly enjoyable. Thankyou for your excellent service, knowledgeable staff and a fantastic dining experience. 10/10. This is a must visit, I would reccomend you get here by 5.30 as its really popular and busy and you wouldn't want to miss it. Thanks again for an amazing meal...loved the little box with our bill and chocolates and the hot towel surprise was brilliant. 👍

A wonderful Indian restaurant in the heart of the Chinese Quarter in Birmingham. The food is absolutely sensational. Every dish had a unique taste, it was evident that everything was freshly made. One of the best Indians I've had in a long time. Flavourful dishes with plentiful meat. We also saw staff give food to a homeless person at the door. It was lovely to see such kind staff, who looked after us so well too. The service was excellent. We were well looked after all evening and our evening was so special given we came for a birthday. Thank you for a wonderful evening. If we are ever in the area again, we would come back in a heartbeat!

Came across this place at complete random while looking for somewhere to eat but it turned out to be a bit of a hidden gem. We started with a pickle tray which was really tasty, and we had the tandoori chicken and butter chicken as mains. Our food was absolutely delicious and really reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to have a brilliant Indian meal in Birmingham.

Visited this place for a birthday meal with my family. The starters were presented well but lacked the full flavour you would expect with contemporary Indian cuisine. The mains in comparison were amazing and packed full of flavour, we were recommended these by the manager/owner when he took our order and all his recommendations were on point. The owner/manager clearly had a great understanding of the menu and you could see that he cared about his customers and only recommended dishes that he knew we'd really enjoy. Desserts were great but I feel there should be more choices on offer. Overall a great experience. 👍🏽

If you want some Authentic Indian food, highly recommend Blanc NRI. They have really nice and amazing food. Although, the chicken isn't an tender I hope, but the flavor is complex and delicious. Perfect place for date night or friendly hangout.

Went to this restaurant with five friends for dinner. Varying tastes amongst us but the waiting staff were very knowledgeable and made a recommendation to me for a dish I had not had before. It was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed the food. Restaurant was really clean and well furnished, cant recommend this place more, you wont regret it. Food is superb.

What a fantastic find! We had tickets for the ballet at The Hippodrome and needed to eat first. We found this restaurant by chance and were welcomed in and swiftly seated. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive, and we were pleased with the choice of dishes available, albeit there were very few vegetarian options. The food arrived quickly and everything was delicious. I have never had such good Indian food in the UK (I’ve lived in London, Manchester and Leicester). This reminded me of my trips to India. Excellent.

Absolutely amazing! We got to this restaurant very late during our stay in Birmingham. The kids were very hungry and we couldn’t find any open restaurant at this time. This Indian restaurant was the only one open that accepted customers in. As tourists, we though the decor was very pleasant and relaxing (mind you we had a very tired 4yrs old) so we were so happy to find a calm and safe place. But, we though the place might be very expensive because of the fancy vibe aha! The service was excellent, our waiter was very kind and explained every menu options to us. The dishes we ordered were all very good and qualitative. The best thing is, we were so pleasantly surprised by the bill! For 5 we payed around 60£. To conclude, it was a very nice and pleasant experience! Would totally recommend.

Welcoming, friendly and attentive staff. Been here numerous times and highly recommended as a hidden gem, especially pre theatre dinner. Really delicious food. Really authentic and full of flavours. Reasonably priced and nice portion size too.

After a fantastic afternoon at the Panto I booked this Indian restaurant off a recommendation for all of my family and we were not disappointed. The team looked after all 18 of us like we were family, they made the adults and children very welcome, the service was fantastic and the food was superb! We will see you again next year!

What a super place for top quality Indian food. Very accommodating staff keen to please. Delicious food served promptly and I felt under no pressure to eat and leave. I make a special mention of the house red which was very good indeed (14%). I'll definitely return when next I'm in Birmingham

Excellent food and very attentive service cannot fault except a very wishy washy coffee at the end of the meal with carnation milk! Come on guys excellent otherwise.

Appalling service received this evening. Watching a great favorite restaurant of mine crumble into less than a gas statio in terms of service is a massive shame.  Heartbroken to say the least. No hot towls, half my main I ordered did not arrive, no one check our mains and that we enjoy I had to wave someone. Youngish black waitor walked away mid conversation and didn't address the issue. Manager did not address for 20 minutes honestly kebab shop behaviour what a shame, I left and paid a full bill despite many hiccups and upsets in service and mediocre food...no where near what this place once was. Fake apology with diabolical service gets no where with me

Lovely venue and great service, but a very poor meal. (Stars for venue and service) We had popadums with dips that tasted like they had been poured out of jars. Nothing fresh. For mains, my husband had a James special that had a very poor flavour balance, and no fresh aromatics . It had been chopped up into something with the texture of tinned cat food. I had the Anarkali that definitely had texture. The stuffed chicken was so hard and dry it stuck to your throat like dried burnt toast, and the sauce had the flavour and consistency of babyfood. In summary, I'm sad to say, this was beyond a doubt the worst curry I have ever eaten. The waiter was lovely.

The best Indian meal I've had in a long time. You can taste the fresh ingredients. Well presented food and they didn't over face me with gigantic sized portions like some Indian restaurants do. Clean and very modern decor. Polite and friendly staff. This is how all Indian restaurants should be.

Came here for food after visiting comedy club. The service was quick n food good. After checking the bill it came to light they had over charged us but after speaking to the waiter this was corrected. Overall was good service n would visit their again.

Store manager was so soo rude, ill mannered and discourteous. He don’t even deserve to be a manger over there or at any restaurant. Me and my husband went to this restaurant on saturday. First of all we didn’t order poppadoms they gave us poppadoms and sauce. (Chutney) then after we ordered food a curry and naan for me and grill for my husband. We asked for bill. And they charged us for extra everything. We ask for explanation. We didn’t order poppadoms and sauces one waiter just came and put it on table and they charge for that. Even manager was so rude. They didn’t even accept their mistake and charge extraa. Manager was so rude in front of everyone moreover he charged twise for chutneys (sauce). They didn’t even gave us sauces Chutneys with the chicken grill.sauces supposed to be free with grill they charged for that as well. Manager was so rude with his staff waiters as well. He didn’t even let him(waiter)speak. And told him go away. The waiter was trying to explain the situation or what was happen abt our order. Oh my god Impolite rude manager i’ve ever seen in my life. Management suppose to be change in this restaurant. Very bad experience. I’ll never visit this restaurant again. Zero ratings with 👎👎

Bangladesh culinary class meets the Arcadian. It is clear James Dahl Indian has left its signature in this eclectic area. The venue is charming, dimly lit and presented with a touch of gaudy class. Service, which is the case in most Bangladeshi based restaurants, is first rate, very attentive. Staff are well presented, going above and beyond to meet your needs. Food is presented beautifully, with a familiar taste to suit the needs of people looking for higher quality British Indian food. You will pay a premium for the privilege, but worth it is. A great venue for small groups, couples or the odd Singleton wearing cycle wear, me:)

Great food, good service but terrible atmosphere. More like sitting in a bar than a restaurant. Fine if you don't mind shouting across the table at each other to have a conversation. Manager full of apologies but no actions to resolve any complaints raised. Wouldn't return.

The best Indian, and possibly the best restaurant food I have eaten in my life. Waiters that can not only serve professionally but can also advise. The flavours and aroma are outstanding. Was in area for 3 days and eat there twice. Weather you are a couple, a work group or you are entertaining guests. Give them a try .
