This hotel is very recent and is furnished to a very high standard internally. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are fitted out to a very high standard. The lifts are large and fast and the communal areas are clean and spacious. The breakfast was very nice - above average for the price of the hotel - and served in a pleasant environment. The hotel is also close to many of the amenities in town as well as being close to Moor St Station and thus the large Bullring mall. The air conditioning was a little challenged during the hot summer we had this year, and it would be good to see that improved. Also the reception check-in was very slow and again in the heat, us tired and weary travellers did not enjoy our long stand in the hotel lobby. This appeared to be simply lack of staff. The staff who were there were very friendly and helpful. I stayed here twice during the summer and would happily stay again.

Hello, My family and I really enjoyed our stay overall. The restaurant staff were fantastic. My 80 year old mum and I arrived at the hotel at 3.30pm and the room was still not ready. Overall the staff were lovely. Food great, executive family room beautiful. We would definitely recommend your hotel. Thank you.

A pleasant enough hotel with modern facilities. A few caveats in my experience did however lessen my view of my stay while I was here for 2 days. For instance, when checking in, I was told at reception that breakfast would be served up until 11am on Saturday morning. I arrived at 10.30am to no one receiving me at the breakfast bar. I walked up the the serving area + the breakfast staff told me they were finished serving for the morning. After telling them what I was told, I received some resistance, with the staff asking who at reception told me (how would I know!) Eventually, they served me hurriedly. Although a minor interaction, I expected a better customer service for £120 a night. Room was relatively clean, although there are a few cobwebs on the ceiling in my room. Please see attached photo of stains on my bedsheets too. Not awful enough for me to complain or ask for another room, but worth mentioning. On the positives, my room key faltered a couple of times during my stay, and the reception staff were friendly, quick and responsive to rectifying this issue.

This is a simple and clean hotel. I don’t think it is 4 stars though. The room was beautiful. Very clean and spacious. However there was no fridge which was inconvenient. The bathroom was nice and modern except for the fact that they didn’t provide any toiletries upon arrival (cotton buds, cotton pads, …). When I asked for toothpaste, they said they run out which is odd for a 4-star hotel. They had no shower caps and such things. In the bathroom there was only 2-in-1 shampoo-body wash which isn’t luxurious at all… They had very limited snacks and drinks, and room service was bad. I asked for ice and was told to go get it myself. Amenities need updating — the phone in my room wasn’t working so I couldn’t call reception or room service. There was a sound system in the bathroom which wasn’t working. I asked for help with my luggage but they just said they’ll put the trolley in front of my door — I had to put my 3 large luggages on the trolley MYSELF and roll them downstairs MYSELF which was something I had never seen/done before in a luxury hotel.

Firstly, our receptionist, Fiona was absolutely fabulous!!! She was thoughtful and honest. She made checking in fun and painless. The room was great. Very clean and comfortable. Lovely restaurant with courteous servers. Definitely value for money.

Our room was spacious, modern and clean. The beds were comfy and the staff on reception were friendly. They made us feel very welcome in Birmingham. The hotel was a short walk (approx 10 mins) from the train station and the breakfast buffet was good, with a wide range of options. The only criticism I would give it is that the rooms lack character and have a slightly ‘corporate’ feel.

Really can’t fault this hotel! Comfy beds, quiet rooms, clean, spacious, friendly staff, great location. And best of all, the breakfast was amazing for people like me with food allergies! Everything was labelled and there was a great selection. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Birmingham!

It's a nice clean hotel with large rooms and polite staff. Unfortunately our room was extremely hot and we were unable to cool it down as the windows do not open and the thermostat only provides heat. It was 2 degrees outside so I understand they want their guests to feel warm, but it was too warm to sleep.

Great location for shopping, eating and getting around the City. Hotel is lovely, room has everything you need. My only criticism is the quality of the pillows which were just too deep for me to sleep on. For me the sleep quality is one of the most important features, I had to roll up some of my own nightwear to form a soft flexible pillow

So disappointed! We booked a Suite here for a birthday so we’re really looking forward to the luxury, normally staying at a different hotel. Upon arriving in our room it clearly had barely been cleaned. There was a long hair on the Welcome sheet which was there to tell us the room is always thoroughly cleaned!!! Rubbish under the mini fridge. Plastic from a clothes tag on the floor and food crumbs on the floor by the sofa…. We called Reception to discuss the issue and whilst waiting for someone to attend our room I found a pin on the carpet! The lady came and apologised and offered for a cleaner to come in…didn’t feel comfortable they’d actually do a proper job and didn’t want to wait in whilst they clean. We asked if there was another suite available. After a 30 minute wait we were told there was another suite available and someone would bring the key…that was another 20 minute wait! Although the second suite appeared cleaner, it just ruined the whole experience and there wasn’t much of an apology or offer to make up for it. Really disappointed and will certainly be returning to Hotel Indigo for all future trips!

Very clean, safe & secure hotel with comfortable rooms, & modern updated bathrooms. Plenty of power points in the room for all your charging needs. Could do with more by the beds if I were to be slightly critical. Good comfortable mattresses on the beds which is always a bonus for a good night’s sleep. Bar area is lovely but expect to pay hotel prices for the drinks. Breakfast has a plentiful choice, catering for all likes. Not self service for the main food either which is also a bonus. Quick efficient service form the staff to clear the tables & clean down/set for the next guest. Overall, I would recommend staying here and I shall be staying here again at the next opportunity. Great location too from the city centre, with Moor St train station just a few minutes up the road and a further 5 minutes to the Bull Ring & shops and New St station.

Perfect location, near the train station and the city center, but in a quiet and safe spot. Great building, very nice and helpful staff. Room 714 was good size. CONS: No small fridge, which it should have considering the price and type of hotel. Half open shower, it was impossible to avoid a small flood every time we used it. Mattress with a big stain.

Stayed for my birthday and staff were so lovely. Fiona at reception was very welcoming, lovely staff on check in and check out, nice selection of breakfast & close to town. 9/10 only downside was hot chocolate wasn’t working in the machine for breakfast but not their fault it happens. Waiter apologised for it

Not bad but wouldn’t stay again. Nothing special just your bog standard city centre hotel. Lunch pretty standard, left feeling hungry as not much choice on buffet lunch. Ok for work I suppose but please don’t book for romantic break as feel you’ll be disappointed

Me and my wife stayed here at the weekend for a night, and we both loved it. The reception staff were friendly and gave us some great locations to go out that night. The room was lovely. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was fairly luxurious. The location was great for our needs. The next morning, the breakfast was excellent with lots of choices. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Spent 4 days here last month. Really great breakfast and good service. Wonderful, helpful and amazing staff. Had afternoon tea with my cousins and Aunties, that was absolutely brilliant! The care of the staff was exceptional. The decor is nice and the location of the hotel, so close to the city centre is brilliant. Sadly, the cleaning of the rooms in this hotel is not up to scratch. We had to get a new room because of the poor state of the bathroom. Hopefully the mgt here finds a way to have the agency staff doing the cleaning to do a better job. Thanks to all the amazing staff working here who were so helpful and kind.

The staff at the front desk are attentive and helpful. However, the cleanliness of our room left a lot to be desired. There was a dried red-brown substance on the duvet cover and some other debris and hair. It didn’t look like a stain, but rather that the duvet cover had not been laundered. Once we pointed out the issue, the staff were apologetic and quickly had housekeeping replace the linens. Additionally, when we arrived there was a large potato chip on the carpet leading me to assume the room had not been vacuumed adequately between guests. Finally, the hotel’s website advertises “All of our rooms have pretty much everything you will need for your stay – complimentary toiletries… if there is anything you cannot find, please ring Reception and we will be more than happy to help.” The only toiletries available in the room are liquid hand soap and a dual hair/body wash. I inquired about additional toiletries, but nothing else is provided. I assumed (at a bare minimum) hair conditioner and body lotion were standard at a 4 star hotel. Instead, I had to run out to a nearby store and buy toiletries before showering.

Perfect location if you have meetings at Millennium Point. Really nice hotel, rooms were well appointed and quiet - downside was no Earl Grey tea. Security was on point as you needed your room key to get in the lift lobby on all floors. Breakfast was nice, good variety, all self service - upside was you could make a pot of tea! So much nicer if you like a couple of cups first thing.

Stayed here for 3 nights break to Birmingham. The rooms were clean and spacious. Some staff were helpful and friendly but it was long waits in the bar and sometimes no staff around to serve at the bar. Lots of glasses left on tables not being cleared. The breakfast was brilliant choices for vegans and hot food available. One day we didn’t have room service and was left without toilet rolls and coffee but we reported it to reception and was resolved.

I booked a deluxe room. Good location and good selection of breakfast but a few things that made my stay frustrating: - The bed was too soft and lumpy. The mattress likely needs replacing. - I used the gym which unfortunately had very limited outdated equipment and was very small. - Whilst breakfast options are good, I attended at 06:45 and breakfast was cold. - Both coffee machines were broken so unable to have coffee with my breakfast. - Got charged £3.60 for a 330ml diet coke at bar. They told me a pint of coke was double so £7.20. That's ludicrous. Overall, this felt more like a budget hotel.

No complaints at all. Everything about it was good from the free prosecco on arrival to the breakfast we had before we left. Room was spotless, staff were good, polite and friendly. Unfortunately surrounded by building sites but that's not the hotels fault. Easy walking distance to most places you'll need to get to in Birmingham.

Use to be a brilliant hotel but starting to get a bit tired. Stayed here a lot over the last number of years. Maybe it was just my room but the pillows were lump (old lumpy), the grouting in the shower could do with a spray of Cillit Bang! To get rid of the mould. The restaurant food wasn't pleasant. Small thing but even going for breakfast this morning your coffee was served from a machine (I expect that from a cheaper chain). Please....pick up the standards again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Clayton hotel. The location is fantastic, you can see Bullring from the room. There's a car park in front of the hotel but due to road work I had to use another parking which is under 10min by walk so it's ok slightly inconvenient but not the end of the world. The staff is very friendly, room is a bit small for 3 people and in the specific room I stayed, the sink and bath would get clogged . Breakfast is also good, the usual hotel choice. Overall i do recommend. Room was nice, the bed is comfortable, a bit tight for a 3 people room and the sink was getting clogged which isn't great.

We just popped in off the street to book a taxi as we’d tried several local companies to no avail . The gentleman on reception went above & beyond for us very good customer skills We had three children in tow and we were told we could sit in the reception. To wait how wonderful Fully appreciated

Rooms very nice, spacious and well presented. Gym is small so don't worry too much about taking your gym kit for short stays. Breakfast was nice, no issues there at all. Staff all friendly. Lots of construction very near to the hotel but to be fair it did not disturb me. Other than breakfast didn't eat / drink at the hotel so cannot comment.

Booked: Superior King Room Beautiful stay, we also had a full height window overlooking the terrance area. The room was spacious and neat with a clean bathroom. The hotel had a water supply issue upon check-in but we headed out to dinner so that did not affect us. Despite the challenges, the staff was calm and friendly. The complimentary Prosceco was great but this should be served upon arrival as after dinner the bar was closed, however, the manager accommodated us for the complimentary drinks. Breakfast was good. However, it would be great to offer guests an option between a well done or sunny side up fried egg. Overall, a great stay and definitely our number 1 choice for our next stay in Birmingham.

We spent two beautiful nights at this lovely hotel. My wife said the breakfast is the best we had in a very long time. Clean room and it’s proximity to the Bull ring makes for an unforgettable experience. We will certainly return

A nice warm welcome at reception. The room was a good size, nice and tidy. A nice touch was the air conditioning in the room. Breakfast was an OK offering although nothing outstanding. It might have been a 5 star if there was parking on site.

Super friendly staff greeted us for this our second stay at the Clayton. The whole hotel is really clean and well looked after, rooms are spacious and modern with some weird techno light switch thingy that had me scratching my head for a minute or two. AC works nicely, hot or cold although it's a little noisy in the night. 3 course dinner was excellent, really fresh and tasty. Breakfast wasn't quite as good, and I'd give the coffee 2 out of 10. Literally brown hot water. All in all a nice hotel with a corporate feel and really lovely staff.

The reception, lower floor and staff are all honestly incredible. Very sweet and attentive. We got too hot in the night and the air conditioning did not work but the next night we asked them to fix it and they lowered the room temperature and gave us a fan as well which worked out just fine. They have options for breakfast which is around £13.99 and it’s convenient but I’m not sure it’s worth the price. I think if they updated their appliances and added more to the room like toiletries or a couple bath tubs here and there, they could be one of the best in Birmingham especially considering the importance of the location in the future but as of now I don’t think it’s worth the price.

First time I have stayed here, and I was really happy with the hotel and facilities. I have only given a 9, due to not having car parking. Check in was simple, the hotel room was lovely / very modern and all you needed. x2 bottles of water in the room (tick in the box) and plenty of coffee and tea. Shower room, perfect, no climbing in to a bath. Brerafast was lovely and plenty of space between other guests. All in all a good experience. Oh yeah the bar was nice as well.

Great reception and breakfast staff! Nice room, comfy bed, good breakfast. Good location. Lobby is lovely. Everything is very clean. Unfortunately the cleaning staff were quite rude as they didn't know I had a late checkout. Toiletries would have been handy, and some more TV channels, plus if I could have turned the lights off from the bed. All minor suggestions.

We booked a deluxe room for two nights. The hotel is lovely clean and modern. However, unfortunately our tv and air conditioning were not working on the first night. Once we let reception know the customer service was outstanding. Stephen, in particular went out of his way to make sure we had a good stay. We definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone and would happily stay here again.

Comfortable rooms & friendly staff. Location central. Only criticism is the the Breakfast, which wasn’t the best. If you enjoy a full English breakfast its not bad, but not good quality if you prefer fresh fruits, cereals, pastries & a good coffee. Besides this its a nice place to stay.

  • 5/5 Tina B. 1 year ago on Google
This was my first time at the Clayton and I loved it, rooms were comfortable, big walk in showers and comfy beds. Also a small gym which had everything you needed including bottled water. The food in the restaurant was lovely but a bit slow with service on the second night due to a conference or something else going on at the hotel, however I was given a 10% discount from my bill because of the long wait. This will definitely be my go to when I work in Birmingham now.
