A cozy restaurant in the very city centre of Birmingham. It has a very cool atmosphere, though it was too expensive for what it was, as the portions are tiny and you need to order multiple plates of things 😔 The food seemed okay, however, one of us had stomach issues the same night, so definitely won't risk coming back again. The only reason why it's 3 stars instead of 2 is the staff - everyone was friendly and welcoming.

A good place in Birmingham City Centre for people looking for Indian street food. Also, I finally found a place where I can get good Masala tea 😃 We tried Bhel puri chaat, Aloo tikki chaat, Mango lassi and masala tea. All were good! Definitely visiting again to try on the mains!

First time going here and had always wanted to go and wow so glad I did. Me and my sister went before going to the hippodrome. The staff were really helpful in explaining the menu and what was what. They were very attentive and made at all times we were ok and enjoying the food. We order some small plates to share. We had the chicken pakora burger, the minted lamb burger, lamb kofta and another dish. The flavours were amazing and so fresh that good we order another two dishes of lamb kofta and lamb and spinach with another garlic bread. I can not rate them enough and the food really was out of this world.we will be returning but I do advise you book as only a small place and very busy xxx

Tasty delicious curry with a wide choice of different ingredients. I was sharing with 3 vegetarians so can't comment on meat dishes. Loved the sharing idea will go again . Great value for money. The front door could do with being able to shut properly.

We LOVE this place! The food is amazing and a bit unusual compared to other Indian restaurants in the area, the staff are lovely, really great place all round. Highly recommended, our favourite place in Birmingham.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this Indian restaurant, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The food is not just delicious but also bursting with authentic flavors. I had the privilege of visiting with my Indian friend, and she mentioned that the dishes here come incredibly close to the taste of home, which speaks volumes about its authenticity. For those who follow a vegan diet, you'll be pleased to know that there is a wide array of delectable vegan options on the menu. The staff at the restaurant were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making our visit even more enjoyable. Their helpfulness added a special touch to the overall dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a taste of India that's both authentic and welcoming.

Great Indi-cafe experience, we took a quick hop while on our way to London. A good variety of street snacks, home cooked black daal & green/red chapattis were amazing. On top, staff had warm hospitality & were courteous. A must visit if you are looking for street food & home cooked meals.

We ordered Behl puri and pani puri as a snack in the evening. As we entered the store, the lady asked, "Do you have a reservation, or else you have to leave within an hour?" The portion of Bhel puri was very small, with more tomatoes and cucumber than expected. The Pani puri was good but came in small sizes, and the quantity was also very limited.

Booked a table in advance and showed up 15 minutes early. Was immediately seated at a table that had been reserved. There were a few long hairs & an eyelash on the table but we didn't make a fuss by mentioning it. It's a small place, & at that point, it was quiet. There were just 2 other people dining with each other in there. We were seated right by the door & saw three groups of walk-ins gradually come in & get seated, then they started to get served while nobody even looked at us. After over 35 minutes I was thinking of walking out but my wife shouted a waiter over to finally take our order for both drinks & food. Their meat is halal (you have to ask them this, it's not stated or signposted anywhere), so we ordered 5 small vegetarian dishes to share. When the food eventually came out, it was average at best, some parts of it were cold, & it was definitely not worthy of the trouble we'd had up to then. My second beer was flat too. I will remember this as the first time in 15 years of marriage that I've had to apologise to my wife for taking her out to dinner.

Chaat items taste very authentic. Laccha paratha was huge, Chole Bature was also good. Chole served with Bhature was really nice, perfectly cooked and melts in the mouth. Very courteous and polite staffs.

Food is great, this place is always on my radar when I’m in town for business, sadly colleagues I usually travel with don’t like Indian food. Had the usual Lamb Burger with Meaty masala fries. Filling and very tasty. Great service and good chat too. Can’t wait to come back.

Fantastic food. Really was not sure what to order and the waitor was extremely knowledgeable; to the point where his passion for the menu drove me to go on his suggestions and wow were we impressed. Light bites to spectacular spiced; the food danced accross my pallet. Portions were just right, we left full but not bursting. Great feel to the restaurant with the little bar. For a givver group thers a table that would happily seat 8 for a celebration. Looking forward to returning.

Disappointing experience here. On the plus side the pakora chaat and cocktails we ordered were very nice. However, the rest of the mains were not particularly nice and one dish, the saag paneer we had to send back because it was so bad. They were happy for us to exchange it for another dish on the menu but never returned to take our order for this! When we told them they said it was because they were busy and our waitress was new?! Not acceptable really. Left disappointed and unlikely to return.

Chaat is a little overpriced, popped in because it looked interesting. The aesthetics are on point as soon as I walked in we were introduced by a lovely smell. HOWEVER As an Indian food eater I felt that the chickpeas in the chaat were more like a curry than a chaat and the grilled chicken basically just added to that feeling even though it was cooked well and all. It was heavily topped with tamarind sauce and mint yoghurt sauce and garnished with a little bit of coriander and Pomegranate. It kind of felt like eating curry with a fork but I must stress that people do make chaat like this. Very filling and very attentive staff! Masala chips were gorgeous on the lines of Chaiiwala chips but a whole another level.

Such a great experience, I highly recommend going there. The service was very welcoming and helpful in picking which meals/drinks to combine. The food really felt home-made and was packed with flavours. The decoration and overall atmosphere was good. I recommend the first mocktail with vanilla, and for food take your pick, some dishes are similar to Mediterranean ones (aubergines and minced meat) and there's a great variety of bread. Prices are also good

Must try! Great independent restaurant. Covid secure, gone above and beyond to ensure safety. Some of the best service and food I have ever experienced. They hold their own in a city full of great restaurants. Hats off keep it going!

I've wanted to leave a review for this place on a couple of occasions, but waited until my 3rd visit for some unknown reason. I have to say, the Indian Streatery is one of the all round best places to eat in Birmingham. A Birmingham independent through and through, with menu items named after famous Birmingham landmarks (See Cannon Hill Picnic). The service is wonderful, friendly and efficient. The food is exceptional, would highly recommend the smokey aubergine dish along with the methi chicken and masala fries. The cocktails are great, and using an independent Birmingham card makes them great value for money. An all round wonderful restaurant that I would take almost anyone who visited Birmingham to highlight what this city has to offer!

Better than average Indian food. Marked as four star as could become very expensive if you take all the options. So watch what you order. However good food and tasty food if you watch that....

Our dining experience was disastrous. The food took more than 50 mins to arrive after we ordered and it didnt taste good at all. I won't recommend it for people who are looking for authentic Indian flavours.

Nicely spiced food and a good selection of drinks. Nice atmosphere to eat in. Staff were very pleasant and courteous. A real credit to the business. You can book a table online, but be prepared to book 45 mins to an hour before you want to eat.

Scrumptious food. From service to food, music gives you boost. I tried samosa chat full of flavours. Best in town for quick bite.

Had lunch on several occasions, which was always good. Went this evening and tried several dishes from the main menu. It was wonderful. Real authentic food and the servers are polite, professional and friendly. Loved it. You must give it a try. I will be back

Popped in for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. They have a limited lunch menu and a more extensive dinner menu which starts at 4 o'clock. We went for their vegan dishes vegan samosa, vegan pakora and the vegetable curry and we were very pleased. The food came out very quickly and it tasted delicious. It's a good place to try if you're vegan as the food is flavoursome and not just packed with hot chilli. Great music too 👌

A really good Indian food variety and excellent Indian taste. Having born and brought up in India my wife and I are very particular about where we eat Indian food. We tried this place for first and were not disappointed. They served a true India taste that appeals to our Indian taste buds. I am sure British would love it too (we were the only Indians at the restaurant today at lunch). The spices, salt and curry flavours were apt and left you wanting more. We ordered pani puri, papri chat, chole bhature, amritsari kulch, laccha parantha and paneer. All dishes were spot on. My wife loved pani puri and ordered more. The chat was perfect but could be more spicy and can do with more yogurt and tamarind chutney. Chole bhature were perfect, perfectly fermented, not too oily and not at all rubbery chewy. The amritsari kulcha was amazing. We missed the butter and tamarind chutney on it though. The lacha parantha with paneer was very good. Parantha had a hint of salt which made it the star. I will be returning again here. Yes portions are small for mains but ideal for one person.

The staff did well handling a large amount of guests, and everything went pretty much okay. The menu had a unique combination of food and drink, and was something new for me. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed. I liked the drink "Angry Indian", it had a nice spice. The pakora burger was good as well. As a whole it was very nice, and the flavours worked very well together. The burger however had a bit too much pakora and not enough chicken for my preference. The masala chips were nice and very crispy which I appreciated.

Great restaurant with friendly staff. The price-performance ratio is great, the food is well seasoned and the prices are reasonable. There are no long waits and the atmosphere is pleasant.

I thought I'd would pop into this joint as I was hungry, a nice cosy warm feel inside and staff attentive. Chicken was good soft and tender along with a flavour. My only ctritism was the portion of chicken was very, very small for what they charge. I know there is a pandemic, but come on dont be shy with the chicken in future or I will have to state this again in my next review.

First time visit for evening meal. Easy to use online booking system. Great service all staff were clearly invested in the restaurant and listened. Nice buzz, interesting tasty Indian food not your usual brown sludge. Fair price with very drinkable wine and beer. Even rest rooms were clean and tidy. We will all return!

Absolute gem. Rare to find a family run resturant nestled in the main streets of the city centre. Amazing food with a warm welcome. Far better food experience than the branded Mowgli.

We were pleasantly surprised to realize what a hidden gem we stumbled upon whilst exploring the local eateries. We always loved indian food, and especially street foods, and we have had our fair share of experiences with Indian restaurants, so when we saw how delicious and consistently good all their dishes are, we were more than thrilled. The flavours and combinations are spot on, everything was fresh and the portions were quite decently sized, considering we ordered only from the 'starters' section. Everything in this photo cost us £44 and it was with every penny! Will definitely come again.

Visited this Indian restaurant for lunch while at work and it was good. The restaurant is very close to work and had a lunch offer which was the pull for it. The curry was pretty good and I went for the optional Chai as well which was top notch. The portion size was smaller than expected for £6.50 compared to prices in B'ham and the chai would have been better if it was bundled up with the food which would make it less costly. But we shouldn't complain about paying £2.50 for a good chai when a Starbucks costs £5. Will try a proper sit-down meal here later and review.

A warm welcome and excellent service from as soon as you walk in the door! The guys were very knowledgeable and helped us pick some recommendations off the menu. There beer they make complimented the food I choose really nicely.( A mango ale) Food is very authentic and really well flavoured. Highly recommended and we will be back 👍🏻

One of the best Indian food places in the city centre. Bharta and Kulcha is a must try if you are okay with Aubergine. They have a few interesting Cocktails to go along.

We dined here a couple of weeks ago in August during the Help Out to Eat Out scheme. I felt very safe dining here, all the tables were socially distant and had screens between. The waiting staff were very friendly and guided us through the menu as we have never eaten here before. They also let us know about the wait times of food which was great. The starters were very delicious had great flavours. We were told we would have to wait about 25 minutes for the mains which was fine as the food was made to order so would take some time and the restaurant was very busy. All the mains were tasted great and the rotis were warm. Definitely was needed on a raining evening. I would definitely come back next time I visit Birmingham!

Pleasantly surprised by the good taste of the food. Usually Indian names are misused to sell substandard food in the UK but this place is really good.

One of the best dining experiences i've had in a long time. My girlfriend and i went here for dinner and the waiter was awesome at suggesting things, knowledgable on the food and what combinations of things went well together. Suggested the perfect amount of small plates to have and a great variety of suggestions. All members of staff were the right level of being attentive without being overbearing or annoying. They were all friendly, smiley and polite. The food is absolutely outstanding, not much more to be said about that, interesting choices and full of flavour.

The lamb curry dish was good, but the rice hadn't been washed properly . As it was an "eat out to help out", I didn't want to complain, especially as rice is a basic staple and should be easy to get right.

Very average main food. Starters are good. Ordered Amritsari Kulcha and what arrived looked like a below average Aloo paratha (see photo) - That too with barely any aloo in it. These people need to go to Amritsar to really know what it means. Disappointed as we took a detour to Birmingham to try good indian food. This was nowhere close to it. The other reviews are not justifiable. Will not recommend.

Amazing food and great service from a friendly team. I thought I was well versed on indian food but there were lots of new dishes here that I'd never tried before. A must visit. Given the covid situation I felt very safe here even though it was busy. The tables are separated by perspex sheets and all the staff were wearing masks.

Given the fame of the local Balti Triangle it may seem odd to choose a very central Indian restaurant but The Indian Streatery more than earned the recommendations of locals who suggested it to us. A varied and creative selection of dishes is accompanied by truly excellent and friendly service. You might not see 'the favourites' on the menu but I can almost guarantee you'll leave having discovered a few more. Some wonderful and exciting vegetarian options too as well as delicious local ales. Given the current climate we felt safe at all times and the costs were very reasonable. My positivity was shared by a diner at another table who recommended a dish to me only to buy himself a take away version of the very food he had just eaten 'for tomorrow' so the family owners of The Streatery are doing something right.
