While visiting Birmingham from Canada in late May, we dined at Cucina Rustica on the recommendation of a friend who had enjoyed a meal here last year. This is a wonderful Italian restaurant with a great menu and a true continental atmosphere to it. Staff was very attentive, pleasant and welcoming. The rose as part of the table setting was a very nice tourch. After complimentary bread and olives, we ordered a dish of 3 different pastas, penne arrabiata, merlot wine, San Pellegrino water and a tiramisu to share. A thoroughly enjoyable dinner in a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Came here for a meal for two on a weekday lunchtime. Food was absolutely amazing. Good portions and tasted great. Service was great too, with food coming out quickly and servers were polite and attentive. Was my first time here but would definitely recommend and will be going again!

Judge a book by its cover. Cucina Rustica looks as impressive from its St Paul’s Cathedral foreground stance as it does inside. It is a beautiful, modern, romantically lit restaurant nodding towards a fine dining experience. The only area it is let down is the service, which compared with the intimate setting of a fine diner, is guarded. Staff are perceptive, polite and offer a European feel. They could be warmer and offer a walk through of their menus. The food is sublime; the separate seafood specials menu presents a depth to its range that many of its competitors can only dream of. The dishes are beautifully in taste and presentation. The experience was over to quickly, but content I was. This is, Legna aside, the best Italian Restaurant in Birmingham.

Wonderful experience, we travel from Oxfordshire to visit Birmingham and always walk the half mile from the centre to Cucina Rustica. Welcome is always warm, the atmosphere relaxing and food superb. Can't wait to return, but a bit far to travel for us but well worth it!!

Visited for baby shower with 5 friends on Friday night. Great, calm and relaxed atmosphere. Service was outstanding! We were really looked after! Food tasty, presentation great! Definitely recommend! We will definitely be back! Well done Cucina Rustica 👌

Lovely atmosphere, such a big restaurant with many tables for two. The service was attentive and friendly. The complimentary bread and & olives were delicious. All three courses were astounding, stand out was the mains of wild boar fagotini & the veal. Deserts were perfectly made & presented, will definitely return.

We enjoyed our mid afternoon weekend meal here, the service was friendly enough, the maitre d could have been a bit more personable but he was clearly busy. We enjoyed the booth seat. I enjoyed the burrata but would have preferred some pesto or Basil leaves with it, rather than parma ham (personal choice), I'm told the fish cakes were good (plenty of fish not potato!). Penne arrabiata unusually came with lots of chopped peppers which I'd ask not to include next time and I like it a bit spicier but great crisp zucchini fritti and the brulée was perfection, smooth and creamy with fresh vanilla seeds and a very crisp, caramelised top which cracked perfectly! All in all a very nice meal and how lovely to be given some olives and small pieces of foccacia de la casa! Small touches like this compel you to return. Recommended and definitely reserve at weekends!

A great Italian with a deceiving front that opens into a large long restaurant at the back. Tasteful decor, decent amount of tables and always busy. So book. Decent food and ok service. Can be slightly forgiven two weeks before Christmas they were a bit slow on service. Otherwise can't complain. Good food.

Great food and great COVID preparation. Hand sanitisers installed at most of the main doors. Good wine selection, great staff who were masked up even before we walked in. Really clean bathrooms with extra hand sanitiser. All sanitiser points contactless. First time we've had a restaurant to ourselves. Weird music but we liked it :-)

My partner and I visited Cucina Rustica yesterday evening (08/08/2020) we followed the health and safety protocol and used the hand sanitiser that was visible on entry and we were then seated. It had been a hot day and the air conditioning appeared to be still generating at full setting although the evening was much cooler than the day. Looking around the restaurant some clients seemed uncomfortably cold. We were cold too. However, the air conditioning was later adjusted by the restaurant after 20 minutes which made a more comfortable experience. We were invited to order drinks - a Prosecco with a splash of raspberry cordial was selected as well as a glass of orange juice. Sadly, the Prosecco rather resembled a purple murky coloured looking smoothy. It wasn’t what I had expected. It was flat and tasted awful. The waiter was politely informed and subsequently removed the drink. Two minutes later another member of the wait staff (we assumed as no introduction was made) stated in a rather abrupt manner they were not going to open a new bottle of Prosecco every 5 minutes and added ‘...do you want something else!’. I was astounded and hurriedly stated no thank you’ as I felt very uncomfortable with his mannerism. There was no dignity and respect shown to us. The meal order was taken with very little help from the waiter when when aspect of meal choices were queried. We were informed by the waiter that the we had been provided with the Starter Menu which made little sense to us as it was clearly the full menu that had been presented? A complimentary pre meal appetiser was presented with no dialogue from the waiter and served from the left but placed across in front of me on the opposite side of the table to my right hand side. To achieve this the waiter’s arm stretched across in front on me and ‘plonked’ the plate to my far right. In my opinion this was quite rude. We made no remark and just made observations. When the main meals arrived, Marguerite (V), Buffalo mozzarella, tomato sauce & basil and Salmone Con Granchio - We did not receive any further service from the waiter until we requested the bill for payment. It was literally a ‘cold’ and very unprofessional service. It was rather like being on a conveyor belt. The two stars rating is given for the Salmone Con Granchio because that was well received as it was perfectly cooked to taste. If graded separately that dish would have received four stars. Overall, A very disappointing experience, the customer service was extremely poor therefore, not the best choice of restaurant on this occasion.

Overspent due to the menu description, with meal coming with potato's and veg already so two side orders unnecessary. Would expect waiter to mention it.

The gnocchi starter was delicious and so cheesy. As a main I ordered the Chicken and Gambetta pizza which was refreshing and so flavourful ! We also ordered some garlic cheese bread to share ont he table. It was cooked to perfection and again so cheesy! The service was nice and the staff was friendly and welcoming. It was my first time at this place and I will definitely come back.

We have just celebrated my partner's 50th birthday at Cucina Rustica and we cannot thank you all enough for such a great evening. There were 36 of us and both food and service were exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble for any member of staff and Georgia was particularly helpful making the evening flow smoothly. Without exception, everyone said how delicious their food was. Thanks again to the whole team. We will visit again soon! xx

Great Italian that was busy when we went, can sit outside in the sun under an umbrella too if you like. Food was a high standard with good pizza 🍕 draught Italian beer on tap too. Would definitely recommend this place.

A beautiful place for a date with lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Only criticism the sharing seafood platter was written on the menu to be £10 for two but in reality it was double the cost . It was nice but if we had known prior to ordering we would have ordered two separate starters as it was not worth £20. The house wine was delightful as was the lamb shank which was only missing some vegetables. However, we would still go again

Celebrated my sister's birthday at this restaurant. We liked everything very much. The food is tasty and fresh. The service is fast and the staff is polite. We are from Ukraine, so it was nice when our waiter turned out to be Ukrainian. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Thank you.

Stopped here for a meal after a concert at St Paul's church on a busy Saturday evening. Food and service were excellent even though the restaurant was packed, delicious pasta main and a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

Food was delicious and served by friendly and professional staff. The ambience is very nice, with a great selection of wines, overall a beautiful place. Would recommend and definitely will be returning.

All around the restaurant is beautifully decorated and has lovely Italian themes. The menu had a large variety, we decided to go for… Calamari Pollo della case Tagliatelle con pollo House Special Crème Brûlée The Calamari starter was quite bland, but I do find that Calamari can hit or miss. Our mains were really enjoyable. The portion sizes were more than enough, so much so that my partner had to finish mine as I couldn't manage anymore. As there's always room for dessert, we decided on the Creme Brûlée, which was a change for us. Although I liked it, I discovered that it contained a lot of alcohol, which was not mentioned on the menu. We did speak to a member of staff about this and he did confirm it was alcohol, which for me was enjoyable although a little strong, but as my partner doesn't drink at all he couldn't enjoy it unfortunately. Overall we really enjoyed our time here, the staff were really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend if you like Italian food. Had a really nice family meal here. The staff are excellent, and plentiful. The meals were well presented and tasty. There was something for everyone, from mid teens, young adults and me representing the 20th century. The price was just right. Thanks for a pleasant evening meal!

Food was okay very overpriced £10 for 6 slices of a plain pizza, the waiter was rude and flirted with me on 2 occasions bearing in mind he must of been about 45 and I’m 16. This made the experience extremely uncomfortable for me. The restaurant was clean however social distancing measures were not being carried out at all. Definitely wouldn’t go here again McDonald’s is way better so went there instead after and the food quality is probably the same anyway

We were able to do a walk in on a Wednesday. They do generous portions. Food tasted fresh and we both really enjoyed our meal. Lovely atmosphere. However there were not enough staff in on the evening, but I can't complain about that as we hadn't booked prior. Thanks for seating us 😊

One of the best Italian restaurants, the pastas are amazing. It is one our favourite restaurant. The waitresses are very nice. Whenever we have guests we take them to this place because of the quality of the food, price and employees attitude. During the past 3years I can't remember a time that we came out unhappy. During corona they offer delivery which is nice. Definitely try pastas.

This restaurant is my preferred one. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this restaurant I keep coming back again and again. The stuff is very affectionate and the cuisine they place on your table is so fresh and tasty. I never decline to have a nice meal here. I recommend this place with pleasure.
