Food was awful, the main dish The Lal Mirch was horrible, so much that I had to throw it away. The sauce was bland and tasteless, it was neither spicy or sour just had huge slices of Onion and burnt Birds Eye’s chillies thrown in. It’s been a while since i’ve had a curry so bad but boy was this, the rice and naan were average too so overall the meal was a huge disappointment.

Ordered at 5:55, told delivery 1 hour. Due to weather change appreciated there may be a delay, so left it until 90 mins later to call to ask when I should expect it, to be told it was on its way; bearing in mind I live less than 10 mins away, I had to call another 2 times and it took a further 30 minutes for food to arrive - it had been in drivers car for 30 mins - not in heatproof bags, so was only warm by time it arrived. Person I spoke to on phone did not bothered by issue - Very disappointing service and food wasn’t great either - prawns rubbery, popadums soft, batter soggy on pakora. Definitely will not be ordering from here again!

By far one of the best Indian restaurants in Birmingham. I have never been disappointed with my meal. Friendly staff, nothing is ever too much. The restaurant is immaculate, and really modern. There is also a cocktail bar upstairs, and their cocktails are amazing!

Yet another great midweek meal! One of my favourites, House special biryani! My husband has a new favourite, Chicken and vegetable balti with a chapati! As usual exceptionally good food. Our favourite restaurant and just 5 minutes from home. Bonus! Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff either, there if you need them but do not bother you if you don't. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Had rave reviews from family about this place but my first time was generally underwhelming and the same for family who go here often food was slightly cold a starter also a drink was overcharged until rectified.Busy nice atmosphere but on the night food was average. But would try again.

So this was my first visit back in a long time. I can tell you that it still is as good as ever. The food is on another level to their competitors. Took my other half and it was her first visit, she was blown away with the food. The service is always amazing. Bahar and his staff are always friendly and helpful. Please visit guys and support this amazing place

Been here many times. Food is good, but I was disgusted at the waiters attitude when myself and my friend wanted to order a starter each. 2 sides. 2 drinks and extra salad. The waiter was so rude. Stating you HAVE to.order a main meal. Now if that's the restaurant policy then the least he could've done was say it and explain this in a polite manner, instead of been aggressive with his response. Not everyone can manage large portion meals. It was totally unprofessional. Will not eat there again I'm afraid

Nice decor - awful chicken balti. Less time on the interior design and more time sourcing fresh ingredients. Chicken balti in a dog bowl was gravy with warmed up cheap chicken. Totally overpriced with staff badgering to by more drinks (when I wasn't drinking). Very poor.

Attended for Mothers Day and the restaurant was lovely and quiet. Decoration is superb and really liked the idea of the private table at the rear. Lighting really nice. Spacing between tables was good as well. You were far away enough from the tables around you but not too far if you were with a group. Food was fresh. Quantity of the rice could do with an improvement. Host/Hostess were very polite, well dressed, clean and presentable. Was a nice surprise for my first visit. Would go again

Have visited twice. Vegetable biriani - one of the blandest in flavour that I have ever eaten, and bulked up with too much potato. First visit they did not have the desert I wanted, although listed on menu. On second visit I asked for dessert menu but was told that the next people had arrived and were waiting for the table. My husband liked his food otherwise I would have given less stars. Not planning on returning.

Food is good, but its quite noisy in there on a Saturdaynight. They had messed our booking up so we had to wait 10 minutes for a table. Reasonable prices and id definitely say value for money.

Went to the Mahfil Restaurant last night with my partner and cousin, it was lovely and clean, the staff were fabulous and the prices very reasonable. We didn’t book but they were brilliant and found us a table. I had looked at the menu before I went and had already chosen the lamb shank - Chef’s Special before we arrived - it was seriously the best Indian meal I have ever eaten, absolutely superb. All three of us had the Tandoori Chicken starter and they were fab. My partner had Jelfrezi and my cousin had the Rogan Josh, both thoroughly recommended them. I had the Lamb Shank and a Naan, as above I have never enjoyed a meal in an Indian restaurant more! We live the other side of Birmingham in the Balti Belt area so I have some experience but I am now a Mahfil devotee!

My wife and I share a birthday in the same week. Daughter and son in law booked a table to celebrate. Staff bent over backwards to welcome us with special starters with happy birthday wishes written on our plates. Superb restaurant

Superb Indian food. One of the best in Birmingham. Get a blanket size naan and a 'Ruby Murray' . Wonderful. Booking essential .

I had the buffet which was very tasty, well cooked and presented. Lovely atmosphere and great staff/service. Limited choice but for the price appropriate. I will go again.

What a fantastic meal we had this evening. Very attentive and friendly staff. We’ll be back 🍛 🍺

Food was ok. Decor was splendid. But the whole experience was messed up by a bad smell coming from a door next to me. Also, for whatever reason, 4 staff members including a manager sat down at the best table in the house and proceeded to eat their dinner from Tupperware in front of paying customers!

The food was great, service good but a bit slow, we sat upstairs where the atmosphere was good.

Good food, different starters and mains to choose and wine selection was good. I had a crab meat starter and hubby had lamb chops with a lentil sauce which were nice followed by laal mirchi and naga burgh, the latter warmer than the first but equally as nice. Naan and chips also ordered and only ate half of each so will pick a naan on next visit. Bottle of shiraz and left happy

Superb restaurant. Very knowledgeable staff, great service and some of the best dishes you will eat anywhere. I would recommend the chef’s specials as an alternative to the standard curry. Thoroughly recommended

Mahfil is definitely worth the 5 stars. Excellent table service, friendly professional staff, and reasonable prices for good quality food that tastes divine. I asked for extra green chilli and it arrived within a minute. Everything you expect from a good restaurant.

Had a fantastic meal tonight I ordered a meal of manchurian lamb its not on the menu only as manchurian chicken. Try it with ordinary lamb not lamb tikka. Probably the best dish I have eaten brilliant they need to add it to the menu. Well done Mahfil ..

To be fair it was a good atmosphere.. obvs cus we were there.. curry’s were a little watery.. but fresh, clean and the cobra was good.. staff bang on.. see you next week.. bit more onion or something 👍🏻

  • 1/5 Jayne G. 1 year ago on Google
Food was diabolical! Chicken tikka was more like wood! Not fresh! Warmed up & hard. Salmon was overpowering & had a toxic flavour. Kebabs were pale & tasteless. Service was good - such a shame, will not return!

Incredibile meal here today with my partner and my dad. We were celebrating my graduation and eating here really was the cherry on top. It's nearest competition are all in the city centre and charge nigh on triple what Mahfil does! Don't give miss out and take your missus here. All the staff are amazing, particular Sami and Bahar, who were kind enough to even give us both a small tour of their restaurant!
